Visited Gregg's in Clacton-on-Sea today and ordered a steak bake and a pizza slice to eat in. I was hungry OK. I expected them both to be hot or at least fairly warm. They always have been in the past. They were both cold and absolutely awful. I was no doubt charged VAT for eating in but obviously not for having hot food. Steak bakes and pizza are generally recognised as foods to be eaten hot. At least my tea was hot enough to warm me up.

This is your basic Greggs nothing overly better and nothing worse, staff always seem friendly and they usually have a decent amount of freshly made pastries available, We’ve never been disappointed with what we’ve received and will definitely use this Greggs again.

Bought cheese salad bagette & coffee for myself and a beef & vegetable pasty & coffee for my husband. - Firstly I was overcharged to the advertised price. I queried this, but was told it was correct - secondly my husbands pasty looked as though it had been baked and heated up for days. The pastry was as brown as shoe leather & it was cold - the coffee, which I asked to be white literally had a splash of milk in and was practically black. Had to hunt around for a jug which actually had some milk in - Finally, my cheese salad bagette was stale, salad soggy and caked (to the extent that it was all I could taste) in marg/spread which squidged out as I ate it. All in all a very disappointing lunch. We won't be going back

Staff rude on 2 separate occasions. No awareness of actual rules regarding covid seating. No thought given to disability rights. You should never separate a disabled person from their carer/s. That is my right as a disabled person! They asked one of my carers to leave and sit at a different table when it was my wheelchair that was outside the designated area not them because there was myself,a toddler and 2 carers in the corner table causing no inconvenience to anybody (all in one family) and there wasn't any more space in entire store. Only my wheelchair overhung the box which is a reasonable adjustment for my needs. It would have made no difference moving my carer because i was the issue! Made us feel unwelcome. Previous to this staff told my family off for moving chairs we didnt move and interrupted their meal to move them. Really? Absolutely terrible customer service skills, we are regular customers at greggs and after this treatment We will not be returning in a hurry.

Went in not knowing it was not dog friendly. My dog was on a lead and is very very well trained. Unline the screaming banshee of a woman working behind the counter who instead of being polite screamed over all the other customer's heads at me the moment I entered the shop. This crazed woman must have just finished lockdown or something as she needs retraining or sacking.

We were in Clacton on Sea for 12 days for a family funeral, visiting from Canada. We decided to choose Greggs for our breakfasts, fast and easy. We were very pleased, lots of selection, cheese & onion bakes, sausage rolls, bacon roll, sausage on a bun roll. all were very good. The vanilla lattes are excellent too, even have a rewards card and got a free drink while I was there too. When we come back to visit family in Clacton on Sea, we definitely will be back to Greggs!

Although there is often a queue service is surprisingly quick and always courteous. When its busy they could do with clearing the tables and sweeping up a bit more often but its usually a pleasant place to sit. And so much cheaper and quicker than Costa. Toilets are ok too. For what you pay its a nice spot.

We decided to come here for a breakfast roll after seeing it advertised outside on a board. It was very busy inside with a long queue. We watched for a small table to become empty and then my husband went to sit there. I think we were very lucky to get a seat inside due to the large number of customers there for breakfast. We were served by a mature lady who was very friendly and very helpful to me, as I had never been inside before and was not quite sure what I had to ask for. I was amazed that we could have sausage, bacon and egg in a roll with a nice big cup of latte coffee for just £2.55 each. The roll was really very good and the filling was hot, as it should be. After eating I used the toilet, which had probably started out clean that morning, but was quite messy. I guess the restaurant/shop was too busy and no one had time to check it regularly.

I wish Greggs could find a better way of serving customers in a more timely manner. The cake fridge is right at the front of the queue, so you can't see the cakes until you get to the front! We queued for 20mins the other day, and then of course by the time you get to the front, you then feel pressured to hurry up and pick your cake of choice because of the line of disgruntled customers! The staff are so busy & stressed that they are not equipped to speak decently to each customer. Maybe if the staff were friendly and treated customers as they should do, people in the queue wouldn't be so irritated by the time they reached the front! I honestly do not know how they can change this problem. You would have thought that with the recent refurbishment, they would have made sure that there was enough room to have more staff to serve the queuing customers at the busy times!I would like to recommend the fresh cream scones though, they were lovely at £1 each. We have also tried the fresh cream apple turnovers (they seem to have reduced the amount of cream filling in these which is a shame!) and the iced Chelsea buns (they were a little dry).

I go here on lunch breaks. The layout is fresh and clean since its upgrade. The food can be pricey, I've seen a small pot of sliced pineapple for around £2 (takeaway). There are always great pastries on show; a wide selection. Queueing is much better in the revamped version. Sometimes when people are paying, they block the showcase of food which can be difficult when you're ordering. Staff are friendly.

This cafe has fairly recently had a refit, it is clean and modern but has less tables. A downside is that customers for the cafe now have to queue with shop customers, so, at busy periods it can take a very long time to purchase your food. I have also found on a couple of occasions that by the time you reach the counter the food you wanted to purchase has sold out....not good for the customer or the company. Food is still as good as ever though. I have only ever been served by the young lad and have always found him to be very pleasant, he is definitely an asset to the company.

Typical new style Greggs with a Get you in, Served and Out type set up. Food was good quality and reasonably priced. The lady was friendly and quick. Not sure if I like the new approach as I preferred the café style Greggs where you could spend a while rather than this fast food approach. Never the less this Greggs is one of the better ones.

Me and my friend just came in here. Not a big order .. A cheese roll, a veggie pastie, bottle of coke and a tea. They have changed the layout of the place and while aesthetically it looks nice enough, the place was messy. Storage pullies were about the place, mops laying on tables .. and they've even stopped using plates! Our food was served on an unclean serving tray .. I can understand why it's more empty now than it used to be. Shame.

Looks like Greggs is going the takeaway way as the new design has lost many seats, made the back area look like a nightclub and opened up the silly downstairs toilets to the "Where can we change the baby brigade".The poor confused bread and cake customers now have to line up with those ordering food and find that the selection is reduced along with the ability to have the "Bakers" slice a loaf etc.To add insult to injury you don't get plates anymore and considering the mess the floors used to be we can expect them to be even worse.Seems to me that the bakers that got run out of town by Greggs and it's predecessors could come back and give them a kick in the teeth by offering the public what they want.

I have been to this Greggs a few times, and the staff are always pleasant and the food good, but on my last visit I sat towards the back of the restaurant seating area which is quite dingy and in need of a good clean up. The small hallway leading out to what I presume is the staff area is quite dirty in fact and it looks like an accumulation of dust and dirt around the bottom of the door and skirting. The area where food is prepared looks ok as far as I can see, but this did put me off going back again.
