Greggs in North Hertfordshire

Disappointed Filthy tables had wipe with anti bac staff not interested Ended up taking lunch to eat outside Why isn't it cleaned can tell it is never daily cleaned let alone deep clean Bins for cups etc overflowing notice in mornings staff no using gloves to make bacon rolls etc taking money with same hands yuk However It's very well priced nice coffee as all greggs to take away but sitting in there no thx would be so easy to keep.it clean too

Me and my friends were shouted at from across the store and told to "buy something or get out" when two of my friends were eating food they had bought in Gregg's, before we arrived. We tried to calmly explain this to the women, she said "yeah they're fine but you need to buy something or leave" in such a rude manner. UnacceptableRUDE!

I had the margarita pizza slice and within 3 hours was violently sick and continued to be for several hours. Reported to environmental health.

Staff very friendly but the state of the eating areas was disgusting. No clean tables and food everywhere. Nobody attempting to do anything about it. However, when we attempted to use the toilets it made the rest of the place look like a first class hotel. It was absolutely abominable. Toilet paper absolutely covered the floor and we refused to use it and came and complained and the lady apologised and said I would be dealt with immediately and we believe someone did go out to it. I understand it is busy at this time of year, and the customers not always desirable, but it will not do your reputation any good if the front of house is not clean, AND IT WAS FILTHY.

Been in few times before work the decaff cappacino was really good and £1. 65 great value Have sat in couple times first thing in morning but table was bit iffy a decent clean and tidy would make a difference But overall good value as I don't want my name on the cup and all that stuff just nice cup coffee and decent roll before work

Ordered via just eat for delivery Driver was rude as he tried delivering to the wrong entrance and was made to go to right entrance Items missing and store was no help whatsoever. Avoid at all costs

One of the better Greggs Excellent customer service. Can get very busy at lunch hours All varieties of foods available.

My wife and I liked the look of this Greggs, as it was quite big compared to some. There was a queue to pay and it was quite busy, despite this, My wife and I picked something that would be heated up assuming that by the time I got the bill sorted there would be somewhere to sit. As my wife is disabled, I said to her ‘you go and find a seat while I queue ‘ . A rather untidy girl with a Greggs uniform shouted ‘ I’m telling you now, there’s nowhere ta sit ! The girl was abrupt to the point of being rude. We left the premises without lunch and won’t be back. I’ve always had the highest praises for Greggs wherever I go, but I’ll give Hitchin a miss in future. Good manners cost nothing.

I simp-ly have to get a sausage roll as always. Maybe buy a packet of them and get a free one. Excellent. These sausage roll beats ALL the others.

So here I was strolling in the Hitchin town centre –not very buzzing for a Saturday evening nor completely deserted either. Many of the stores had shut and closed down – possible indications of the times we live – of amazon and the internet. And with the passing showers, I entered this café for some light snacks and took some nice crispy chicken breasts. The chicken was hot and tasty. The setup was clean and buzzing – lot of people coming and leaving – much in contrast to the reviews that adorn trip advisor. Overall it was nice snack break at the Greggs.

What happened to Gregg's, no plates only serviettes, tables not clean and toilet you need a code to use by asking the staff at the counter. Staff scruffy and cleaning could be a lot better. Not for me

A normal clean and well presentd chain shop, serving hot and quickly prepared food, witha large seating area.

Make sure you bacon roll actually has some bacon in it, and there's nothing wrong with expecting your hot sausage roll to be at least warm. Come on, it isn't hard to get this right.

I go in here virtually every time i go to Hitchin, there is never a problem and the food is always good, i would deffo recommend

Popped in this morning, enticed by their ‘hot drink and a bacon roll for £2.25’ offer outside. Attended to by a really efficient, friendly guy, and with an extra decaf coffee we sat there for half an hour for just over £4. Clean, good toilets and great food, can’t complain.

So, each time I go into this store it’s always busy with weekend shoppers looking for a convenient quick bite to eat. If it’s always busy then why do they not have a steady flow of food? The only options I had today to purchase were:

Came in here with my mother, she was very disappointed when they told her they don’t sell toast anymore, not sure how a sandwich shop doesn’t sell toast but that’s another matter. The floors, walls, tables, chairs, in fact everything is lacking a basic state of hygiene. I would not even recommend take out as the fridges and counters all stoop to the same level of dirtiness

Went in for coffee and bun. The state of the tables, floors were dire so we turned round and walked out. Potentially loosing a lot of business due to the filthy state of restaurant/eating area.

Despite being early in the day there were no breakfast wraps and no brown sauce, but far more worrying was the lack of housekeeping. Crumbs littered the chairs, tables and floor. It was obvious the floor had not been swept from the day before and if it hadn't been swept, it hadn't been washed either. There is no excuse for this, a food establishment should be cleaned EVERY day. The glass doors were covered in smears and finger marks too. What is the point of investing in a refurb when basic cleaning and tidiness standards are not being met. The only good thing to report was the tea was nice. Breakfast rolls were very average.

Stopped by on my way home to pick up two take away sandwiches. There was no line waiting and a few people sitting eating. Pleasant enough greeting but the guy behind the servery seemed in an almighty hurry. He managed to prepare the first sandwich without putting it under the grill..... so he threw that one away and started again. Almost finished and another guy appears on the till and starts hassling me about checking out. This became a real pain and I said I had another sandwich to order, but he just kept going on. In the end I actually told him to back off. The order was completed and I left, but this was not an enjoyable experience. I have eaten in many Greggs and these guys could do with taking some lessons from the Greggs on Leeds City Station........an object lesson in speed, accuracy and friendliness. So ...... food just ok, service poor - won't be in a hurry to go back.

When visiting Hitchin decided to have a break from shopping and go for a coffee - most of the cafe`s were extremely fully so we opted for Greggs. What a surprise, there were seats available and the coffee was great - and so much cheaper than the cafe`s. The server was friendly and efficient. Thanks so much.

Stay out unless you want ants with your food, filthy tables food debris everywhere,, floors, chairs collapsing, table wobbling all over the place, an absolute disgrace, should be shut as a health hazard, who checks these places? How did they get a license to serve food?' Loos horrible and having to go and ask for code is ridiculous.

Budget food, budget service, budget prices so expect budget taste. Great when your on a budget but not great if you want quality. Well it suits a need so no fault there👍😃

Cheap but I'd rather pay more and eat/drink elsewhere. Range of basic drink/food options at a reasonable price but the sitting area is bland and to be honest a bit scruffy. Just not my kind of place I guess

One of the few greggs that has a seating area but only half the size of the old greggs before refurbishment. Can be hard to get a seat on a Saturday and table not cleared. Good meal deals but best to take away.

Needs extra staff..tables needed clearing and floors swept. Did it myself. Coffee was lovely and hot and sausage rolls delicious.

Often drop in here for sausage rolls and sandwiches,the former are a guilty pleasure of mine, the latter are freshly made on the day. For a small extra charge you can eat in.. Good selection of hot drinks a!so!

After an incident in which something a till attendant said made me laugh due to it being a reference to an inside joke with my friend, the server must have wrongly assumed I was laughing at her. When I was next served by her she was stroppy, deliberately messed up my order and didn't give me my change. I think this kind of behaviour is extremely petty and certainly isn't something I would expect an upstanding company like Greggs to stand for at all. Admittedly not all staff were like this, but unfriendliness seems to be a common theme in this restaurant.

For some reason, this branch of Greggs does not perform as well as the others. It recently had a long overdue refurbishment but still manages to look scruffy, perhaps because of the lack of regular table clearing. The ladies' toilet was not clean and the range of snacks available at the cafe counter was limited.

Today I had the chicken mayo salad sandwich for my lunch and I had the worst farts in the world. After I got diarrhoea. Thanks :))) I know it was definitely the sandwich as it was all I ate today. Bummer ☹️

Had excellent baguettes but foolishly paid extra to eat in. The tables, chairs and floor were covered in food debris. Also the air conditioning was turned on fiercely so part coffee the dining area was uninhabitable. Have taken photos to forward to head office.

Fast food to eat in or take away. The décor has just been updated, to be honest I preferred the way it way it was laid out and looked before. It didn't have much character before but it seems to have lost what little it had now

salt salt and more salt. if you like a bit of food with your salt goto Greggs. If you like your pie filling only half cooked goto Greggs. If you want nice food give Greggs a miss.

We couldn't believe our eyes a Gregg's and Bakers Oven under one roof .It had a wide choice of food and drinks .Offering a selection of Decaf Coffee which is very rare these days.Also a nice atmosphere to sit and enjoy your meal.It was very busy which is a good sign,With plenty of staff to serve you.

Service behind the till was week, we waiting 5 mins while she done herself a coffee. Donuts weren't very nice and the coffee was disgusting from that machine.

this cafe has a much nicer ambience since it was updated and does simple basic food at a good price.

dropped in early one Saturday for an unexceptional coffee (machine) and sausage sandwich. Quality of food is low end and whilst service is quick I'd recommend that if quality is what you're after this is not the place. Service is over the counter and your are left to find a table for yourself - which is fine of course, but don't expect it to be clean or clutter free during the day....even at 0945 on a saturday the tables needed cleaning down!
