Greens Restaurant - Sale in Trafford

Sadly, we found Greens to be quite disappointing. We did find a couple of the dishes really good but the rest were mediocre including the kids options. The restaurant wasn’t busy but service was slow and sloppy. Extremely unlikely to return especially as the ambiance was quite flat. We went elsewhere for coffee and dessert.

I rarely leave 5 star reviews, but this was the best meal I've had in ages. We started off on the rooftop having a couple of really good cocktails and then came down to eat. The food was delicious, really inventive and a lot more exciting than the typical goats cheese and caramelised onion tart and mushroom risotto that you see on most menus as a vegetarian option. The cauliflower in kimchi butter and the dhal were particularly good. The servers were lovely, really attentive, smiley, knowledgeable and accommodating. Atmosphere was buzzing, we all preferred it to the Didsbury restaurant, which we've always loved. The bill came and we couldn't believe how reasonable it was! Ended up around 40.00 euros per head and we ordered a lot between the 4 of us including cocktails and 2 bottles of very nice wine. Absolutely fantastic!

Excellent food and great choices. I was actually spoilt for choice. Friendly service and fabulous atmosphere will definitely visit again.

We went with our son who is vegan. There were plenty of choices and our spinach and lentil daal and mushroom pancakes were delicious. Very friendly staff and it was reasonably priced. We live in Stockport and will definitely be back soon.

After going to the Didsbury Greens for many years we had a voucher to use and as the Sale restaurant was the only choice we went for my birthday for lunch. We were greeted by the guy from the Didsbury restaurant so felt assured. We ordered drinks and then food, after a few minutes my choice was not available (maybe communication from kitchen to front of house needs addressing) I hastily chose a different main. The starter came out to share and a side of chips came out with it which I wanted with my main but when asking the staff they walked away shruggingthier shoudlers. After finishing the starter my wife's main came out almost immediately. I ate my chips waiting for my main but after more than 15 minutes my wife asked where my main was and it appeared after another few minutes with the waiting on staff saying that it was a tapas style and it comes out when it's ready. Not acceptable really, 5 minutes might be fine but not nearly 20 minutes, my wife had actually finished her main by the time mine came out which is not great. The staff were quite dismissive and no check backs throughout the meal. As it stands, we will not come back to Greens which previously we were regulars even travelling a 50 mile round trip to go there. There are a lot of vegan restaurants around now and I think that they need to up their game. We will miss going there as the food is very, very good but improvement on the service is crucial and we both work in hospitality and know about service to the public. Please change our minds and improve because the food is excellent

First time at Greens Sale ! A lovely restaurant really friendly staff and very welcoming even with our dog and no booking 🥰The food was excellent and we will definitely be back . We travelled from Wigan and it was well worth the journey now that Didsbury has closed 🥲keep up the good work!!

Food was fine. Service was poor and unfriendly. We were left to sit for 45 minutes after our main meal was cleared away. We tried to catch someone's eye but with no success. Eventually I went up to the bar to ask (politely) if we could order a coffee. The response made us decide to leave without ordering coffee. We won't be back. Never written a negative review before but we were made to feel like an inconvenience and it spoiled what should have been a lovely evening.

Amazing veggie and vegan food. Great pick in sale

The spinach, feta & filo pie was delicious - perfectly offset by the stewed aubergine/tomato/olive/caper relish. I visited at a quiet time and it was perfectly pleasant but I imagine it gets quite shouty during busy periods. Good value too. (Says the up-from-Londoner).

Absolutely great, if you are veggie or vegan this is a must. Great food, great cocktails, great service. I really recommend chocolate mouse, best dessert I've had in ages. Really lovely dinner, will be returning here!

A non-vegetarian would not know this was a vegetarian restaurant. The Oyster Mushroom Pancakes were incredible as was the Burrata. Would definitely go back.

My sister and I came for lunch this week, really looking forward to it as fans of the previous Didsbury restaurant. We were really disappointed. The waiter brought a blue cheese and crackers dish in error and looked affronted when we said we hadn't ordered it. The rarebit (when it eventually came after about 20 minutes) tasted peculiar and the black pudding was like little bullets . The chips and greek salad were really nice to be fair. We weren't asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything and the final insult was an inability to raise anyone to give me the bill. No apology offered. Mediocre food and rude service. I would not recommend.

The food was tapas style, in that you have several dishes to share, which I love. Between two of us we had one small dish and one large, followed by desserts. If we hadn't had desserts we probably would have needed another small dish, but as it was, there was plenty without feeling too full. Every single dish was utterly delicious, especially the filo pastry pie and the lemon meringue cheesecake. Service was very good, the place had a lovely, relaxed vibe and the price was very reasonable. The only reason for removing a star was an odd set-up with the toilets. You walk through a door marked "toilets" and are faced with several cubicles, one of which at the very end, is marked "women", another "all", the rest, presumably, are for men. So basically women have to walk through the men's to get to their one toilet cubicle. My (female) friend and I both felt so uncomfortable with this that we decided to go elsewhere for coffee rather than risk needing the loo again. If they wish to be gender inclusive there are better ways to do it without making women feel uncomfortable. If they sort this out, it will definitely be my go-to restaurant, as everything else is spot-on and I would love to try the roof-top bar, which looked lovely.

One of the best meals out I have had in a long time. All the food was excellent, especially the Oyster Pancakes, Burrata and the Bombay Burger. Lemon Meringue Cheesecake was great. Amazing what they had done with the veggie food. Will definitely be back.

Food was good but not outstanding. The Oyster Mushroom Pancakes (think crispy duck without the cruelty) were great. Would certainly visit again!

We are longtime users of Greens at Didsbury, now closed, but have not been as happy with the Sale restaurant although nearer to us. The small plates menus is limited and unchanging wouldn’t want to go often.However just had the best Sunday lunch ever including other ones with meat options, never had such good roasties. Didn’t know they could be so good outside a home kitchen. Def not keen on the onion gravy but may be personal taste. Prob best Sunday lunch in Manchester. Vege great, especially the asparagus. Perfect.

Some of the best vegetarian food I've had, superb.

We had a booking for 9 women last sat (Mostly Irish) none of us vegetarian but I have to say the food was outstanding. Everything was so tasty 10/10 . We all left saying we can't wait to come back. Annie who served us is a credit to the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble . Smiling all night . Thank you for a fantastic meal . We will all be back.

Love Greens in Sale! They have a lovely rooftop with heaters and blankets if needed. The food is always super and staff very friendly. My favourite restaurant in Sale.

This has a lovely vibe with friendly vibe and good background music Cocktails were inventive but the classics also amazing such as a spicy margarita not from the menu but also the cross between a Pina colada and margarita. I am not a vegetarian but loved all the food and didn’t even consciously think that I was not eating meat or fish. Place was full tonight and rightly so.

Food was really tasty, but not hot. So lost a star there. Service was ok, but more interested in clearing empty tables and chatting to the kitchen staff than in clearing our table, asking if the food was ok, or asking if we wanted desserts or coffee (we did, but went elsewhere for them). So lost a star there too.

Had an amazing lunch today, ordered 3 small plates each (which were quite filling). Sister agreed that we'd definitely return. Thank you to the young lady who served us, she was very friendly and advised us well. Thank you also, to Simon, who was on hand and served us with our courses. It was lovely to meet you and to see how busy and vibrant the restaurant was this afternoon. We'll be back!

Coeliac Review I recently visited for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant provided gluten-free alternatives such as a seaded cracker instead of bread and croutons, which I believe were made in-house. The dishes were exceptionally fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. Additionally, the mocktail I ordered was delightful. I did not experience any issues related to gluten consumption/glutening. I am looking forward to returning in the future.

Hard to get to. Our first visit, 3 people, one on a cane, 1 on crutches. Not Greens' fault but very long walk from car park. Modern, industrial decor, including open walls revealing bricks with MUFC written up high in marker, ugh. Menu short but detailed. Lots of vegan, gluten free and nut free options. Small plates, large plates, all vegetarian. Staff very attentive and sweet. Wanted Chai tea. Nope. Wanted sweetener for hot tea. Nope. Only sugar. We had the butternut squash curry, gnocchi, hummus x 2, mushrooms x 2 and feta salad, hot tea, orange, coke, sticky toffee pudding and rose syrup cake! £74, I think! Woah! Everything was very good, but not great! Toffee pudding tasted raw. Dog inside was yapping, jangled my nerves, like the loud, thumping music. Hostess was amazing, patient and brought us an extra gluten free menu to peruse, went out of her way to accommodate us. Bathrooms were upstairs, one door for both genders. Inside were 4 stalls. 3 said ALL, one said WOMEN. As I walked out, a man and his son walked in and I spooked them into thinking they were walking into the ladies. Prolly won't come back here but would recommend for young people on dates who don't need a dictionary to get the menu. Ha ha ha! Thank you, Greens! Two years later, I returned with a vegan friend and her bf, both French. We really loved everything. Fantastic service and much better food than last time. Reservations needed for Saturday night.

Fantastic meal today. Seriously considering becoming a vegetarian only due to today’s meal! Really tasty, fantastic service and a really nice atmosphere. I will certainly be back!

Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. The mushroom gnocchi were out of this world 😙👌 Felt like a lot of thought was put into each dish. We had all vegan dishes: oyster mushroom pancakes, broccolini and white beans, mushroom gnocchi, charred cauliflower, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate mousse. Cocktails were great too!

Awful service! We waited over 30 minutes for our main course and it wasn’t even busy. The waiter was very miserable and the chefs kept staring at us through the service hatch which made us feel quite uncomfortable. Also it took 15 minutes to obtain the bill. We won’t be returning again

Was at Greens last night - loved the food, service and atmosphere. Black pudding was weirdly good, gnocchi was extremely tasty and chocolate mouse was another highlight!

Had my birthday meal here and it was amazing. Food was incredible and service was great too. The mushroom pancakes were a big highlight, and the mushroom gnocchi was also up there too.

Never been before and had heard wonderful things about out this restaurant so myself and wife thought we’d give it a try and we weren’t disappointed. The restaurant is a tapas style serving the food in small plates that you can share. The server was really good explaining the menu and how it all works and advised to have 3 plates each which was more than enough. We had mushroom wraps, sweet potato and spinach Dahl then crispy cauliflower buratta with heritage tomatoes and focaccia all the food was well cooked and very tasty As a meat lover I didn’t feel disappointed not having any meat and really enjoyed the food and would highly recommend this place and will definitely be visiting again

Amazing food and amazing service.

Having just enjoyed a delightful Sunday lunch with my family, I can't help but express my absolute delight with the quality of food we all had today at this fabulous restaurant. The mushroom Wellington was an absolute standout - a solid 10 out of 10! Even my teenage son, who is usually picky, thoroughly enjoyed the charred cauliflower and even the veggies, which he normally avoids. The service, atmosphere, and overall experience was simply perfect. I must commend you guys for consistently delivering such high-quality dishes. We’ve been quite a few times now and it’s always superb! I cannot leave a review without praising today’s special dessert - the sticky toffee pudding with fudge sauce was a true showstopper, deserving an easy 11 out of 10! Thank you to the entire team for providing such a consistent experience. We are already looking forward to returning as soon as possible, and if it were up to us, we would make it a Sunday tradition. Kudos to everyone involved, and keep up the fantastic work! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Me and a friend had a superb meal here today! Service was friendly, quick and attentive and I was very glad to hear staff from the Didsbury restaurant were given jobs in the Sale branch. The food was so tasty - recommend the veggie black pudding, oyster mushroom pancakes and the vegan ice cream which genuinely tasted as good as the best dairy stuff I've ever had. Even my mocktail was something I'd go back for.

Travelled over from Yorkshire. Well worth the effort! Great restaurant in an interesting area. We went for the small plates and every plate was delicious. Staff were friendly and explained the menu We shouldn’t have attempted the puddings, but like the trip they were well worth the effort! It’s all about the flavours! Excellent value too with the 25% off Tues- Thurs January deal. We will be back!

It's always a delight to eat at Greens, whether you go for their tapas-style small plates or their larger meals. Excellent quality vegetarian food, attentive, friendly and efficient service, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Delicious Sunday lunch, had the Wellington which was divine! My friend had the falafal burger which was also delicious. Good size portions and service was friendly and efficient.

We had an early dinner and I can highly recommend the afternoon 2-course offer and happy hour drinks. Well worth it. The dishes were delicious, the service really nice and friendly. Definitely to recommend.

Went in for lunch and chose the 3 starters for £15. Service was great, food was divine - I went because the vegetarian black pudding was included in the deal and it is the most delicious morsel around - and I'll definitely be returning so I can take home more leftovers - portions are big! Love this place, and I'm not even vegetarian.

Not veggies but 4 of us ate here, Saturday night. Had 9 small plates between us, lots of sharing. Cauliflower dish was the star but excellent hummous, mushroom pancakes and dahl. Only giving 4 stars as the service dropped significantly once the Maitre D finished her shift, staff then just chatted amongst themselves and didn't even reply to our goodbyes.

Awful service. Arrived and the table was not ready, which isn’t an issue. Told to sit at the bar and then ignored for the next 15 minutes. Another couple arrived after us and were immediately seated at a table, a couple without a booking arrived and they were also seated, and then like us ignored. The male waiter was off having a good long chat and the woman spent most of her time glancing at the booking screen and then strutting around the restaurant. Lots of empty tables and not that busy for a Saturday night. Avoid.

Delicious food and lovely staff.

It's a nice restaurant and the food is usually good although saltier than I like on some dishes. The staff are friendly and attentive and the drinks options are good. I have been a couple of times and enjoyed the visits.

Good atmosphere, I had to do some work with a friend so we could connect to their WiFi. The food was good but a bit expensive. Good service, pleasant staff.

Hubby and I went for a late afternoon meal- escape from our children. The restaurant was quiet. They had a deal 3 small plates for £15. There were 5 small plates on the menu. We ordered 1 of each plus another. It was like a vegetarian tapas experience. The food was fantastic. Meat eating hubby has agreed that we should return soon.

Beautiful place, beautiful food. A delight to visit.

Not much of an atmosphere for a Saturday night . Started with vegetarian black pudding with mustard mayo ,this was excellent. Main course was Gnocchi with olives and tomato sauce again excellent. My wife had Hummus as a starter and Filo pie for her main which although was very tasty the presentation left a lot to be desired. Overall satisfied with the food and service .

Very nice vegetarian restaurant and bar. Last minute decision to try, menu looked interesting and the small plates were ideal for sharing..they had a fully detailed allergy menu too. Staff were friendly and venue looked nice although we sat outside. Would recommend.

Food was great for the most part. However, no matter how much they try to convince you the vegan cheese tastes like real cheese. Do not believe them as it is quite bad. But to be fair no vegan cheese I have ever tried is good.

Good food but a bizarre and slow system. Visited for the 3rd time and now probably the last. Firstly the choice for Coeliac just gets less and less. I literally had the choice of about 3 dishes! Most items on the menu labelled gluten free are not actually gluten free due to cross contamination, it's possibly even illegal to label them as such. The system is bizarre and frustrating, we sat near the kitchen so could see what was going on. They cook all items on the menu in turn (so all the broccoli for example and send it to all tables that ordered it at the same time). As a result and just by chance, my whole table had eaten ALL their dishes by the time I had any food at all - 50 minutes after ordering! The food was actually tasty and the service was good but due to the frustrating system I won't be going back. Also avoid if you are Coeliac - as mentioned, there is a very limited choice available to you.

The restaurant is really good and the rooftop bar is a great place for drinks.

Really tasty and excellent service! All the various tapas dishes were lovely, including king prawns and pork belly. Topped off with a lovely white sangria. Would highly recommend!

Fabulous vegetarian food served tapas style.

Having eaten at the Didsbury restaurant - and loved the food quality/choice - overall, we were disappointed with the Sale restaurant. Similar menu choices but had to send the tempura cauliflower back twice as it was soggy - this was the standout dish at Didsbury. Also, the service received wasn’t great - i’d normally be more “less Karen” if they were bang in the middle of lunch hour and packed, but it was empty and myself and my partner agreed that we almost felt like an inconvenience. In short, if you are local i’d make the slightly longer trip to Didsbury - Food and Service outperform that of the Sale restaurant- if these new restaurants in sloan square want to stick around (unlike the food hall) they need to get the basics right and give customers paying good money, a reason to comeback.

It wasn't a great experience, certainly not as good as the original greens. Our starters came out separately with enough time between them we all ate alone. Well, actuality I didn't because the mains turned up just one minute after my starter which I didn't get time to eat. The food was not as good as the other greens. Not enough seasoning. Oh and don't be fooled into thinking burger and chips means you get chips. You don't. Unless you count dried out overcooked roast potatos as chips. The waiting staff were great but the kitchen needs work.

I went for lunch with a friend and loved it. The food was delicious (we went for the 3 plate lunch offer for £15) and left thoroughly full and satisfied. The atmosphere was relaxed, and peaceful, perfect for out catch up. The staff were friendly, approachable and professional but not intrusive. Will definitely be eating there again 😋
