I’ve previously raved about this small coffee shop cum cafe but, disappointingly, I didn’t enjoy the food on our recent visit. We were a family group of five, three of whom had the tuna ciabatta melt which, they said, was very good. However, my grandson’s squash and spinach soup lacked any taste of squash (I tasted the soup) and, actually, with its very dark green colour, I didn’t think the soup looked appealing either. Spinach has such a strong taste and, if it’s being used alongside other vegetables in soup-making, the amount needs to be proportionate to the other ingredients. Unfortunately, the spinach was overpowering and totally drowned out any flavour from the squash. I ordered a home-baked, warm asparagus, spinach, tomato and cheese tart which I can only describe as dire. The pastry was soggy, so I only ate the middle of the tart and left the pastry, whilst the accompanying salad was tiny and boring beyond belief, with just a few leaves, a couple of pieces of tomato and a few bits of cucumber. The salad actually resembled nothing more than a garnish, with a bit of dressing on top, and, at £12, the meal was poor quality and even poorer value for money. The lattes were excellent and my son-in-law enjoyed his Terry’s orange flavoured hot chocolate but there wasn’t a great choice of cakes to go with our drinks so none of us bothered. In terms of the food, there doesn’t appear to be an actual kitchen, just a section within the cafe where a member of staff was preparing the orders. I’d never previously noticed before that there wasn’t a kitchen here so not sure if this is a change. However, only having a microwave and no oven would explain why I had a tart with soggy pastry! Regrettably, I can’t even say that the staff were brilliant. We were mainly served by one staff member who I can only describe as surly looking, leading me to want to repeat a childhood phrase my mum used to say when I was being grumpy, ‘if you smile, your face will crack!’. A second member of staff, though, was so different and really nice. I’d have been happy to have given some honest feedback at the time but, unfortunately, nobody asked if we’d enjoyed our meal. I can say, now though, that my meal was extremely poor and, with a bill of £65 for our group, it wasn’t cheap. Finishing on a positive note, the toilets were clean.

A year on from our first visit to Greens, we, being four adults and two children, were again making our way to Suffolk for a few nights when we made a lunchtime stop here. Granted, it’s a smallish menu but it is a cafe, and not a restaurant, and everything is fresh and homemade which would always be my preference over a large menu where food is of the commercially frozen variety. We had various things from the menu, including sandwiches, soup, quiche and salad, and everything was lovely. The latte was more than decent and had been made extra hot and without a load of froth on top, as requested. Although I didn’t partake, my son-in-law indulged in some cake and, judging by the way he tucked in, he enjoyed it! The only slight niggle was that my daughter would have liked a toasted tea cake but this was only on the breakfast menu which finished at 1130 hrs. As a toasted tea cake is such a simple thing, we asked if it would be possible but were told that the toaster had been put away. Not sure what that was about! Anyway, there were no complaints with our food and there’s lovely clean toilet facilities which is always appreciated! We wouldn’t hesitate to return if we’re back in the area.

I’d seen this place on TripAdvisor and made a mental note that, should I be in the area at any point, I’d give it a try. Lucky for my family and me that, on a very busy day (although, probably all days are like that at Greens), staff managed to squeeze us in for a quick bite to eat with the proviso that we vacated in under an hour as the table was reserved. The menu is quite limited but quality is the number one word and, thankfully, the food was worth the effort of our slight detour to get there. Homemade soup, homemade quiche, tasty and interesting salads, fabulous mouth watering cakes (due to the time factor, we took them with us), all complemented with the gorgeous Greens coffee. Added to all of that, there are very good Covid measures in place with your temperature and contact details being taken on entry. In summary, tiptop quality, reasonable prices, great staff that have a bit of personality and last, but certainly not least, lovely clean loos! We left feeling rather smug and chuffed to bits that we’d found such a great spot. Unfortunately, we're too far away to be regulars but we'll be back later this year when we make the same journey.

We always try to find small independents rather than service stations to stop off on journeys and we chose Greens based on the great TripAdvisor reviews. We weren’t disappointed! Came here for lunch over the weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. The staff check your temperature when you enter and take down details to contact you. Staff were attentive and it was evident that the food was freshly prepared. The chicken salad came with plenty of chicken and the hot pasta was delicious. Cakes and coffee were also brilliant. Would happily return.

This is quite a high review based on the fact that it was our first visit and we only had coffee this time - however there was a lovely atmosphere with a mixture of ages and clientele, the menu looked interesting and OK there are cheaper places to eat but the menu has some lovely items on it and it all looked fresh. I have a bugbear with lattes when they come topped with lots of foam and little coffee given the price - and it was the same here with both of them - it's a latte not a cappuccino however they were both topped up with no attitude or questions asked - the staff were very pleasant about it. All in all it made us want to go back and eat - well done everyone

I would recommend this cafe for anyone looking for gluten free. The gluten free sandwich and cake (Victoria sponge) were great. The ordinary food was also good quality. Prices were sensible. The service was quick and efficient but disinterested. It is the little things that make a 5 star rating for me, and unfortunately they are missing at Greens. The combination of a safe/conventional interior and a lack of engagement from staff made the atmosphere flat. I feel a few changes to the front of house could make all the difference.

Since changing jobs nearly 3 years ago to have more time with my family, one of the things I wanted especially was to spend more time with my daughter before she grows too big. Greens has become our favourite haunt by far (and believe me, we’ve tried a lot!). My daughter’s favourite is the Nachos. The portion size is huge and obviously freshly made. I often have the hummus and the added touch of crispy onions and chilli sauce drizzled on top with toasted garlic ciabatta is amazing. The last time we brought my husband and he said the ploughman’s was one of the best he’d had. Oh, and the Toffee frappe is like no other. It’s delicious. Really good.Carry on the good work. You have a little gem of a business there and we’ll continue to drive the half an hour drive just to come to you, because we know we’ll always get the best lunch and frappes.I’ve tried to rate the service, food and value below but it won’t let me.

I am saddened to see the last two reviews for Greens, they seem very vindictive and based LARGELY upon false claims. I have been going to Greens (and taken friends and family there) for the past 2 years and have never left feeling unhappy with my experience. Today I have been to Greens with six other people, we all had dishes and made fussy requests and everything came correctly, beautifully presented and tasted amazing! The staff were so happy, smiley and very attentive. They consistently asked us if we were happy with our meal, if we needed anything and asked us, when collecting our empty plates, if everything was okay. So as my title suggests... Greens is brilliant, everything from the atmosphere to the staff and of course the most important thing in between - the food and drink! The owners are so friendly - to the point where they know all their regular customers and their preferred choice of food/drink! To be fair I believe that all the staff work incredibly hard to maintain Greens’ amazing reputation within the community by ensuring an amazing level of service, use of lovely high quality ingredients and their willingness to just make their customers happy. I couldn’t recommend Greens more!!

I have eaten here many times over the years. It used to be fantastic but the food quality has really declined over the past 6-12 months whilst the prices have increased. I'm concerned that the place is resting on its laurels a bit, given that it has no direct competition in the town (i.e. being the only 'nice' coffee shop/café).Five of the last six meals I have had have been pretty terrible: poached egg on toast that was very soggy; a very chewy pain au chocolat; a ham and cheese toastie that tasted stale (it was a Monday, so the bread was likely purchased at best on the Friday before); a portion of nachos that had probably been cooked earlier in the day and then reheated, so that the cheese had solidified and was tough to eat (it genuinely made my jaw ache for hours afterwards); and an ante-paste board in which the peppers were rancid. The only exception was a ciabatta with parma ham, mozzarella and tomatoes, which was excellent. The prices are also pretty steep. That tough plate of nachos cost over £7 and a bowl of soup costs £5. If you're going to be paying those prices then the food really should be better. They also sell pastries in the morning for around £1.50 each; I've seen the staff purchasing baskets full of pastries in Morrisons in the early morning (where you can get three for a pound) but this could just be a coincidence. Again, I've no problem paying £1.50 for a pastry if it's good, but not if it's a Morrisons one (I really hope I'm wrong about this).I think the main issue with each of those bad meals was that I was never asked "How is/was your meal?"; they just took my payment quickly and cleared the table instantly for the next waiting customers. This implies that they don't care about feedback as much as they used to - another sign of resting on their laurels, perhaps? Alas, I'm not normally one for speaking out or making a fuss but had they asked me then I would have given honest feedback face-to-face and it might have saved me from writing this Tripadvisor review. It's a shame because it used to be great and I would often take family and friends there. Cambourne is in real need of another cafe to give customers more choice and to keep prices competitive - and I also think Greens would benefit from the competition in order to get back to their previous high standards.

This started off as a pleasant experience but then rapidly deteriorated when I asked a member of staff for the biggest piece of flapjack (or similar) as I was sharing it with a friend. She obviously wasn't happy about this request and was even unhappier when I politely questioned her about her choice of piece she gave us. The duration of our lunch became increasingly uncomfortable as she shared her discontent with her colleagues, resulting in covert whispering and dirty looks from all serving staff. We were astounded that such a benign request was met with such a surly and indignant response, which was made even worse by it spreading to staff we'd had no contact with. All in all, a very unpleasant experience.

It serves excellent coffee of all varieties, and the cakes are scrumptious - I'm sure they are fattening but who can be bothered when they are so good! They also do great snacks - from toasted sandwiches to more exotic things, and they come well-presented and freshly prepared. The food preparation is all done at a bar in the corner of the coffee shop, so you can actually go and speak to the people preparing your food if you have some special order you want. The waitresses are attentive and always friendly, so you won't be kept waiting for anything.Seating outside under cover if you are a smoker or if the weather is warm - watch out for the mummies with the pushchairs, they can bruise your legs without bothering to try!

I had some time to kill waiting for my car to be serviced so decided to go for a walk around town. After soon realising that I needed some breakfast I decided to go to a nice looking cafe that had some chairs outside. I found this place and can say that it is one of the most pleasant places I have had breakfast. I had poached eggs on brown toast. The eggs were perfectly cooked. Runny yolk and firm whites. The bread that was toasted was toasted just right and the coffee was also pretty damn good. I have to admit. The service was the main contributing factor to why this has been given 5/5. The staff were all happy, smiley, funny and very pleasant. I was on my own and a waitress asked if I'd like a paper to keep me occupied. This was a very thoughtful touch and even though I declined the offer it was very much appreciated. Not one complaint. Which makes a change. I'm a miserable sod.

Have been here a few times for mid-morning tea and cakes. The service is fantastic and efficient. They are always smiling. There is a good mood in this place which rubs on to you. The cakes are delightful. They are also priced appropriately. We visited for lunch and I loved the ciabattas and the salad. There are certain days they open late for dinner I understand but needs prior booking. These days are advertised on their board and website. would certainly recommend for breakfast, lunch or just a hot drink with cakes..

Always head here on a Thursday morning. Good coffee and nice Cake however Cake is quiet costly and also quiet small to be honest. But it is still better than Costa up the road and it's kind of become a social hub of the village. But and there is always a but and that is it coils do with patio heaters now the weather is on the turn.

I had a coffee to go, the staff were stand off ish (maybe I lived in the US too long), but after eye contact was made I had to ask to order. Ordered a soy late with sugar free flavour (no sugar free flavour/syrup was available), however I'm pretty sure due to my reaction this wasn't soy. I normally watch the Barista and stop them if they use the same jug, wrong milk or don't wipe and steam the milk nozzle, but I went to the restroom (it was clean and well situated away from seating), I came back and was politely remembered and given my coffee. So off I went with my weekend of cramps, pain and general discomfort. To play devil's advocate, one of my friends (who regularly house sits for me) loves this place, raves about it. She goes here whenever she house sits for us. I doubt I will return.

My family and myself have been regular visitor of Greens from when it originally opened with the previous owners and continue to visit today.I have to fully admit that when the original owners left I was sceptical that the place would be the same but I have to admit that I believe it has actually got better! The food is always to a high standard with the best of ingredients, coffee is still just as nice but even more importantly the welcome you receive is even better! The new owners are so friendly and welcoming and the staff they have employed although most are relatively young they are fantastic. It's nice to be able to have a laugh with the staff and it is clear to see the staff are happy to be there, a clear credit to the management! To run a business like this is relentless and to see the two lovely owners in there day in day out since they took over has been amazing. Both of you and your lovely staff are a credit to your business!!

This used to be a favourite but now it's gone down to its past.I normally enjoy there chocolate now I would say a £1.00 sara lee cake would be an improovement, at £3.00 a go it was a joke. The fruit smoothy was a joke , it never saw a piece of real fruit , just a fruit squash. If you value yoir pocket and taste buds go elsewhere and get the real thing and cheaper. This was one of my places for a little luxury occassionally now I go elsewhere.I do like a luxury now and again , this doesn't come into it.

The coffee at Greens is very good and not expensive and the cafe is much pleasanter than Morrison's cafe next door. There is outdoor seating for both smokers and non-smokers. From the menu the food seems fresh using good ingredients although I was too early for lunch. I shall be back to sample it.

I wrote a while ago that the coffee had gone downhill so I wanted to report again that it has really improved since then. However I visited last Sunday and they were playing rap music and songs with explicit lyrics. I was with family, so this wasn't great and also spoiled the atmosphere. They usually play folky, chilled guitar tracks, which is really nice. Funny how the whole impression can change with the wrong music. Ask the staff were standing around the counter chatting together and the boss didn't seem to be around. Service wasn't terrible, having said that, but the atmosphere was quite intimidating and would put me off. The manager is really friendly and the place seemed different without her there.

Cannot recommend this place highly enough, it perfectly serves the Cambourne community with the best freshly prepared food and divine cakes plus coffee that gives the biggest brands a run for their money! For us, it is a fabulous family friendly venue and the service from the whole team is always first class. We are made to feel welcome every time as soon as we set foot in the door :)Our favourites? Granola & Greek Yoghurt, Soups, Smoked Chicken Salad and Carrot & Orange or Angel Cake!

Greens has all the ingredients to be a lovely place to go and relax... The only problem is the staff!! I went in with a group of friends and we went strait to the counter to order our drinks.. Our first mistake.. The young girl behind the counter looked at us as if we had done something wrong and then in a very unwelcoming manor said "it's waitress service" and told us to sit down, so not the warm welcome we had hoped for. So anyway we sat down and then waited for quite a while for the waitress to come over and we placed our order. We asked for a slight variation in one of our orders due to my friends allergy... This did not go down well, the waitress rolled her eyes huffed and said she'd have to go and check with the manager. I watched as she went to ask what I assume was the manager, (a tall lady) she too rolled her eyes and to my horror swore out loud by this time I was ready to leave never to return again but we decided to stick it out after all we where quite intrigued to see what else might happen if we dared to ask another question. There was also a family with a couple of young children making a noise on another table we noticed they where not receiving kind looks either so if you have young children you might want to make sure there willing to remain silent :/.. On the plus side the food was quite nice but overall the experience was ruined by how unwelcome we felt.

I went to visit my niece last month and on arrival she mentioned about us going out that evening to her local coffee shop , she explained that they were having an open mike night where people go along put there name down and when it's there turn they get up and sing I live in London and had never been to an event like this so was a bit sceptical ! WELL I'm so glad we went , they have a licence and we had a few glasses of wine some delicious nachos and had a fantastic evening . The owners and staff could not of been lovelier , on arrival there was not anywhere for us to sit so we sat outside but Pauline kept an eye out and as soon as a table became free she nabbed it for us . My niece was up next morning popped to Greens to get us both a great coffee .So thank you ladies I thoroughly enjoyed my evening and can't wait to come back this month for the next one , but whatever you do ,don't let me sing eekk !!

Just had another fantastic evening at Greens. Not overly crowded but still a great atmosphere. The owners and staff as friendly and attentive as usual with the same great food for this type of evening. It's a pity they only open twice a month in the evening as this is the perfect place to unwind. Looking forward to the next time!

My family constantly hears greens at the crack of dawn and late at night emptying their bottle bins, why they have to do this at 6am and at 11pm is beyond me. They also have late night Thursday's and often leave their back door open with live music playing, which keeps everyone up. As a local business this is really quite inconsiderate. The coffee is okay but a little overpriced. Their pastries are bought from morrisons which sits behind them. The staff have always been quick with their service but the girls are fairly young and come across as quite judgemental.

Used to come here quite often for coffee but something has happened lately and the coffee isn't what it uses to be. Milk is too hot and coffee is bitter... It's a shame because it puts me off going there now. Staff are mostly friendly but today I waited around for quite a while before anyone served me. Hope it's not going downhill because it's a nice cafe and the food is wonderful.

Lovely little coffee shop with seating al fresco as well as inside. The coffee is lovely and there is a fairly good type variety, cappucino americano etc. Also do a good variety of cold drinks as well as food and home made cakes. I would recommend the Carrot Cake. The owner and staff are very friendly and table service at weekends is very good. A friendly busy wee coffee shop that I will sat definitely worth a visit. I will be going back often.

Booked a Sunday lunch for 2. Good service and the food was excellent. The only observation was that I could have done with a little more meat but that didn’t spoil the meal at all. Loads of vegetables and cooked perfectly, not too hard and not too soft. All washed down with a splendid pint. It’s not the cheapest but it’s not the most expensive and I’d say you get good value for the cost. Very much recommend a visit.
