Waited nearly 2 hours for my starter to be served. Which was nothing to shout about when it did. We had reserved a table. So no reason for kitchen or staff to be overwhelmed. Several attempts made to take food order. Even shouting for us to raise our hands to confirm our choices. Food was not served hot for several people. We had to leave the lounge and go into the bar full of men watching noisy football, to get drinks because they would not serve us drinks with our meal unless we paid the total on one card. Which did not suit us at all. Prices in my opinion were extortionate for what we got. Eg. £25 for steak pie n chips. Only saving grace was the company I was in failing that I would have left before they caused me anymore discomfort. I will not return.

Our visit to the Paddle Steamer was let down by extremely rude staff (Kara & Matt) and poor handling of an accessibility issue. We were seated near an access point that had no signage indicating it was restricted. When staff member - Matt - approached us and curtly asked us (and my disabled mother) to move, we explained that we were more than willing to cooperate if access was genuinely needed. Despite our clear willingness to assist, Matt insisted we move “in the next two minutes” without further discussion. We also overheard a staff member - Kara - make an inappropriate comment via radio, which was very disappointing. This experience clearly demonstrated the need for improved signage, friendlier communication, and better staff training around accessibility.
