The Paddle Steamer on a warm sunny Saturday was full of day trippers. The atmosphere was noisy as customers raised their voices in a chain reaction in order to be heard. Staff kept tables clean and waiting time at the bar 🍸 to a minimum. Too noisy and busy for me.

Our visit to the Paddle Steamer was let down by extremely rude staff (Kara & Matt) and poor handling of an accessibility issue. We were seated near an access point that had no signage indicating it was restricted. When staff member - Matt - approached us and curtly asked us (and my disabled mother) to move, we explained that we were more than willing to cooperate if access was genuinely needed. Despite our clear willingness to assist, Matt insisted we move “in the next two minutes” without further discussion. We also overheard a staff member - Kara - make an inappropriate comment via radio, which was very disappointing. This experience clearly demonstrated the need for improved signage, friendlier communication, and better staff training around accessibility.

A ten minute wait at the bar, looking at a sea of tables covered with empty glasses and used crockery only to be told there would be a 45 minute wait for food. This was at 2pm on a Friday. What an absolute shambles of a place. I can't rate the food as I walked out disgusted.

Then ordered 3 bowls of ice cream, all came melted and could be used as a milkshake, sent 2 back as 1 child didn't mind, and manager attitude was it hot in the kitchen, With autistic children who's been to a few weather spoons, there ice cream has never looked like runny milkshake, more like it sat for the 20 mins we waited for it in the kitchen out in the heat, attitude from the manager was also not very customer friendly. Went to the Paddle Steamer on Saturday for coffee and some soft drinks for the kids before taking the ferry. My elderly mother ordered at the bar and I jokingly mentioned to her to make mines a Tennents. After she had paid the barmaid produced a pint of Tennents! I assured her that not only was I having a private joke with my mother but I didn't actually order the beer. The barmaid very abruptly told me "well I'm not taking it off the bill!" I asked to speak to the manager but she was such manager. I'm afraid your customer service leaves a lot to be desired and a multi million pound industry seems quite happy to take money from old ladies. Well done, we certainly will go elsewhere next time.

Shaun the manager's attitude is rotten. I was in for a drink with my family and there was only one toilet available. Many customers were complaining that the toilet required attention and cleaning. I spoke to Shaun the manager to say that the toilet required cleaning and he started to verbally abuse me. I went back to my table and he came storming over throwing chairs out of the way and saying don't speak to me in that tone while continuing verbally abusing me in front of other customers and my family. All I was asking for was someone to go clean the toilet as other customers had also complained. Instead I felt threatened by behavior and other customers around me were mortified. I would imagine he wouldn't have reacted in the same way if it wasn't a female asking the same question. Shaun the manager is clearly incapable of managing his own emotions and clearly can't handle the stress of the job. If this is the way he treats his own customers with his non-existent customer service skills then who knows how he treats his own staff. I will not be returning to this establishment again!

Came here last Saturday afternoon as we were in Largs for a tribute night. All the other pubs were full. This place was no exception and we were lucky to get a table. Had to wait ages to get served. Big queue. Staff not pleasant. I ordered an American double cheeseburger, but didn't get it. I got a double burger. The chips were freezing so couldn't eat them. Came in the next day for breakfast. Got charged £27 for three large breakfasts. Toast let it down. Also wanted a roll and sausage with potato scone. Was told to pay extra for this as it wasn't down. All that came out was a roll and potato scone, no sausage! Had to pay another £2 for that. Complained and the manager came out. All we got was an apology. Worst experience of a Spoons ever! But... a few items on my daughter's cooked veggie breakfast were cold so I guess everything is pre-cooked and just heated up as needed. My roll and sausage was fine, good value too as it comes with free tea. Not keen on the Twinings teabags, though. One other criticism with the ordering app. There are options to add stuff to the cooked breakfasts but no option to remove anything. I would've ordered the full breakfast if I could've removed the beans and there weren't many staff members around to order directly with.

We had the unfortunate experience of thinking we could try and cheer my father up on his and my mother's 1st wedding anniversary without my late mother. It would have been their 47th wedding anniversary however she sadly passed away in February of pancreatic cancer. As a family we booked a wee caravan week away for him to surround him and help him through what is such a difficult time. Last Tuesday the 23rd of July we attended this restaurant as their choice of food for a celiac was good. However when my sister chose what she wanted from the Gluten free menu I was told at they didn't do that and to go to the big menu on the touchscreen. We did and almost everything on the menu was not available, we were told that was only available "down south"?? When she asked for a chicken meal, the choices were rice, mash or chips, she asked for mash and they said they had no mash. They said they had chips and she asked are you sure they are Gluten Free and the server went away and came back and said no, you can have rice, but she didn't want rice. All she could have was chicken wings. When the food came out the order was wrong, my sister ended up with a buffalo style sauce on her chicken and 2 sides of chicken wings which she was told were normal chicken wings and that they were gluten free anyway. The face on the lady serving the food was pathetic and her attitude down right rude. My dad asked for his steak well done and it was rare. They said they would take it and get him a fresh one, however we had all finished our dinner and 20 minutes later my sister had to go and ask where his dinner was. They refunded my sisters chicken but offered nothing for my dad's meal that he had to so long after all of us, we were out for him, but this made the day sour. This restaurant only seems to want to sell drinks, it took a long time to get 2small tables that we had to push together and squeeze onto. There were individual couples sat in tables of 8, just having a drink so that they could sit on the waterfront. That was the case on every table at the window, and the booths around the side. Seems that food is second to drink in this restaurant. Not one of us would enter a wetherspoons again.

Have ordered from here a few times but never a curry. Over £14 for a madras and rice, container was 3 quarters full and had about 6 bits of tony chicken. Never again

Auchengree is a nice farm shop and tea room but they risk pricing themselves out of the market. The tearoom is cosy with lovely views and pleasant staff. A toastie with a tiny salad at £9.90 is pushing things. Cans at £2.45 is a rip off. A standard latte was increased in price by £1.50 as we asked for oat milk and a syrup, the latte ended up being £5.50! These are bordering on city prices. Not sure if I’d go back.
