Eat regularly at Green Pastures and love the garden center, food is usually very good also. However, I’m leaving this 2 star review over a change around the specials menu and a real lack of gluten free options. About a month ago I came in and the only meal available on the specials menu that was gluten free was ham, eggs and wedges. It’s just really sad and disappointing to have to pay £13 for this when you have all these other creative options staring at you that you just can’t eat. So we made the decision to leave and go elsewhere but the waitress stopped me and went to talk to the chefs. Seems she understood my disappointment because she also had a food allergy. She came back and the chef said he could adapt a couple of the dishes so had a carrot hummus dish which was one of the most delicious lunches I’ve had there. It’s a shame the menu doesn’t show that things can be adapted rather than just present one very frankly lazy gluten free dish when there are clearly very capable chefs at the kitchen. Went back today to look at the specials menu to see it was the same old ham, egg and chips. Nothing learned. Couldn’t be bothered to ask for something more interesting so left and went to eat elsewhere. Didn’t feel like eating a boring sandwich, jacket potato or ham egg and chips whilst my friends ate interesting specials. Won’t be regulars at the restaurant anymore unfortunately. Specials menu never used to be like this.

Fantastic place. Went today as complete gardening novices needing help with what to plant in our garden. They could not have been more helpful and spent a good ten minutes helping us pick out the best plants and sharing a wealth of knowledge and answering all our questions. Would highly recommend this place not only for the plants and wonderful staff but also for their lovely restaurant and farm shop.

Was delighted to visit! The cafe is small here, but the food is excellent, there’s a roast on a Sunday, and table service - so you don’t have to awkwardly leave your coat at a table or order and find there’s nowhere to sit - I love that they seat you and look after you. Once you’ve eaten, pay at the till and you’re good to go! There are a few gluten free cakes available. The garden centre is small but packs a punch!

Had lunch today in the gardener’s retreat. Good friendly service by staff that waited on us. Unfortunately had to wait an age for our cold drinks to arrive( they finally arrived after our food). Salad garnish advertised was 2 small gem lettuce leaves, 2 mini tomatoes and a slice of red onion accompanying by a dozen crisps, if that. At £10 a plate I expected a little more ! Disappointing

Farm shop excellent, with highlights including: - Very good / good value fruit and veg, especially the own / locally grown produce. - Pointens (of Stody) yoghurts, that reminds us how yoghurts used to be before supermarkets decided thick, sugary and bereft of acidity was 'the way to go'. The fruit is wonderfully vibrant. - Local beers (and wines) - home-made pies (family size and individual) - Local (Bramerton) lettuce leaves in season - Eggs have been very good and there are also double yolkers / duck eggs often available - Other good local produce from Harveys meats, Rainbow healthfoods, Candi's superb chutneys, etc.)

We visited a few weeks ago and the experience couldn't be better. Even with almost a packed place, we had someone greeting us and showing our table. Very quick and professional service. The food was delicious. I had a jacket potato and my partner a salad. A lot of families with babies, small children, friends and just couples. Great to see the inside space for children to play with. A lot of parking spaces outside the restaurant and shop. Great value/ price. We'll definitely come back. Highly recommended.

Disappointing. The cafe is really expensive and very average. £3.00 for a small, not very hot, very average latte. No staff in the nursery section to answer a question. There is too much competition in the area to make this a regular venue, but it could be so much better. What staff there are seen bored and not customer focused. Also the ladies toilets needed service - no paper.

As a regular user of Green Pastures, we are so lucky to have this great local business in South Norfolk! The restaurant consistently serves up great food, we have used the post office more times in recent years as it’s so handy being on our doorstep, the garden centre team go above and beyond, and the farm shop is a hazard - you always end up spending far more money than you had planned! Fresh produce and great selection. I know how hard the owners will work to keep a business like this going, with fresh produce, high customer expectations, staffing and the current cost of living, and everyone should make an effort to support a business like this. Keep up the great work James and team!

Stopped here for lunch after a visit to Norwich. Greeted and shown to a table with a selection of menus plus also a specials board to choose from. Both our meals were very well presented and were large portions to the extent we had no room to sample the selection of sweets and cake on offer. The staff were very polite and helpful. A walk around the selection of autumn and winter type plants looked very good and of high quality at not silly prices. All in all a very enjoyable visit.

Very disappointed to say the least. Eat here regularly and normally the food is fantastic. Booked to have an Easter afternoon tea for my 50th birthday. Food nothing like the Easter afternoon tea advertised. Booked for 2.30 and food took til nearly 3pm to arrive at our table. Where do I start, my partners pot of tea was weak, only 1 teabag in a teapot. The sandwiches were nice. Scones were awful along with the cakes not being great either. Birds nest cake was particularly bad, couldn't even eat it. The staff there are fantastic and the kind lady who I told about the cakes reduced my bill. But at the end of the day I came home feeling very deflated about what should have been a lovely day out. On the plus side bought some wonderful plants. But I don't think I will be ordering an afternoon tea again. I will stick to the roast dinner in future.

Having been here for afternoon tea a while ago, I was looking forward to having another one as a very special birthday treat. Though the tea spread was good it was not quite the same as before. Firstly there was no crème brulé, my favourite, secondly it was no longer served on a trug. I asked why and was told they are moving to cake stands. This is a shame as the trugs made this afternoon tea stand out from ALL the other afternoon teas served elsewhere. The service was good and the staff helpful.

UPDATE: Re-visited for Sunday lunch on 8th August and it was lovely. More vegetables and everything well cooked. Thoroughly enjoyed. Will be back. Went today for a Sunday lunch. When we arrived they had not got our booking, despite only ringing us approximately 90 minutes earlier asking if they could move our booking back a half hour. They did find a table for us, luckily they weren't that busy. We all ordered the roast and whilst it tasted very nice and there was plenty of meat we were very disappointed with the lack of vegetables, one small piece of cauliflower and half a small carrot is not acceptable when paying £12.99 for a roast. Whilst there were also two potatoes and half a parsnip on our plates there were no greens. On previous occasions vegetables were brought to the table separately with potatoes, parsnips and carrot already on the plate. I believe the cauliflower also had mustard powder or similar on top which was too overpowering. Unsure whether we'll be back which is a shame as we always thought the roasts here excellent.

Poor signage at entrance is not helpful when trying to manage with a wheelchair. We had booked a table in the restaurant and were greeted with a long list of things that we could not have. A large number of the options were either not available or were missing key ingredients. After eating, we went round the shop and took our selections to the till to find no one there to serve us. I don't think we'll bother returning.

Visited restaurant 1st June. My friend had booked a table for 1pm. We arrived on time and faced a queue behind 4 couples who hadnt. Finally getting to our table it was clear too many people not enough staff. We waited 35mins to even order when we were then informed no more fish. We re chose from the menu and waited a further 20 mins. People were obviously getting very frustrated with lack of lack to order and pay. We asked to speak to Michelle who was not in. Dont accept walk ins if you dont have staff to cope. The poor ladies were flying about and were clearly stressed. This should have been a pleasant lunch out for my birthday but ended up a rushed compromise as my friend had an appointment to get back for. Allow 3hrs if you want a relaxed lunch.Food was ok. Water was served in boiling hot glasses straight from a hot washer!!

Ordered a takeaway afternoon tea for my wife's 40th birthday in July. I was kept waiting despite having a collection time. When we arrived at my in laws we discovered items were missing with cakes all piled on top of each other and boxes collapsing. Given the current Covid situation we were unable to safely share between families. We have been so disappointed with the response from James Debbage the owner, whose response to dealing with the complaint was very one dimensional and arrogant. There has been a total lack of any consideration for the occasion. Having previously been regular visitors to Green Pastures we will not be visiting again.

After visiting here earlier this afternoon, I feel compelled to leave a review in the hope the staff will (re)consider their approach to customer service. Upon leaving, a staff member decided to single out someone with my party and comment upon their attire (in an attempt to embarrass them), while boasting that they have an ‘eye for detail’. Ironically, this garden centre has poor signposting to meet social distancing measures and are selling plants in close proximity to the Post Office line (causing members of staff to flap when customers risk coming into contact). This member of staff was not wearing a face mask as he addressed us, so perhaps there are some improvements to be made here...

Having had Green Pastures recommended to me for both its garden centre and cafe, I have nothing but praise for the wonderful business the marvelous Michelle and her partner have built. The wealth of plants and flowers available to purchase are of superb quality, and the cafe bright and welcoming. Treating both my Mother and Grand Mother to the famed Green Pasture's roast, I thought that I was "out of luck" due to my dietary requirements. However, Michelle went above and beyond in her endeavour to cater for me, and insisted on making me a sandwich of my choice with a very generous side-salad. In view of Michelle's exemplary customer service, and with true appreciation for the superb environment she and her partner can be credited with creating, Green Pastures comes highly recommended for those seeking "pastures new" in the search for quality food and produce championed by independents unique to the County of Norfolk.

Bought our Christmas tree from this place after a recommendation from a friend - they did not disappoint. I went after work on a horrible cold evening; a member of staff came out with me in freezing sleet, helped me pick out a great tree and carried it to my car. The prices are very competitive too - I shopped around a bit before buying this tree and noticed bigger garden centres selling very similar trees for around 30% more. Have bought fruit, veg, cheese and honey from the shop here on one occasion too, all of which was delicious. If I lived a bit closer or passed by more frequently I would be a regular shopper here. Recommended.

Food was OK, very run of the mill pub grub, but very expensive for basically what you would get for the same quality from a marsdens, 7.25p for a 1" slice of catering quality roulade. One waitress - young dark haired girl was lovely, older blonde lady just seemed peed off with us being there. Would happily eat there again but wouldn't make an intentional trip
