If you like a poached egg please try the eggs champignon: perfectly poached atop a bed of mushrooms and a muffin. Just the right amount of hollandaise to complete a simple but delicious brunch.

We went here on a Saturday afternoon, pretty quiet and staff nowhere to be seen. Eventually found someone and informed us we need to sit and someone will take our orders We only wanted a coffee. We are both dairy free and ordered with soya milk. Coffee was nice I was astounded when I received the bill that we were each charged. 70p extra for soya milk. I've been to hundreds of cafes and never been charged this much I will not go again

Unfortunately this cafe although a popular local favourite has gone downhill. I’ve now had two consecutive poor experiences and don’t think I want to return. Last week I went with a friend and we both ordered chollah French toast. We were served overdone (dark brown) chollah which seemed to have been deep fried! It tasted like fried bread! No chollah or egg could be tasted. In fact I’m not sure there was any egg on it! Also it came covered in sugar - even the berries were covered in sugar! I didn’t complain because I was being treated by my friend so didn’t want to make a fuss. But at £25 for two with a drink each it was very overpriced. My previous trip was similarly disappointing with a different order and they forgot to bring me a drink. No more chances…

Having read other reviews it seems the girls who work here need some customer service training. Upon walking in and seeing the two girls exchange brief words, one moves out the back quickly. Maybe we visited on a bad day? We waited ages before the waitress came to our table, (after my wife had gone to the counter and enquired of the service), then the waitress ignored this interaction and had to be hailed to our table. There was no apology for the wait, only a statement that she was the only one serving and it was busy. The tea served was good but my wife's salmon bagel looked like it was a plastic replica and there only a very thin slice of salmon in it too. My burger was good but why do establishments like this insist on serving it up on a paper covered tray? It would have been nice, as we were handling our food to be given paper napkins but I had to go to the counter to obtain them.Would we go there again? Not likely as things stand.

Decided on the Green Owl Café for a long overdue breakfast meet-up with friends. I ordered poached eggs and toast, with extras of bacon and grilled tomato. The toast was cold. The bacon was nice and crispy... but for £1, I at least expected a whole tomato, not half!! We weren’t rushed to leave at all, which we appreciated as we had lots to catch-up on! And it’s nice to find somewhere that does skimmed milk (which is all I like in a cup of tea!) Would probably return, but with lower expectations so as not to be disappointed!

With a cosy atmosphere, warm, welcoming staff and an excellent menu for both breakfast and lunch, it’s a pleasure to visit! We frequent the green Owl as local residents with and without the kids. Their Owl breakfast is very good and tasty and good value. The kids love the smoothies an fresh orange juice and the mix of regular faves and specials keeps it fresh and different. The poached eggs and salmon flies out of the kitchen. It can get busy around 12-2 so beware if there are larger numbers. The desserts have improved with the new owners and the standards and quality keeps getting better.

I've visited this cafe many times - mainly because it's this place or nowhere if you want a half decent breakfast/lunch on Queens Rd. And I'm secretly hoping that surely THIS time they'll get it right....Every. Single. Time - they get something wrong. I've probably had 1 good meal, here are the rest:Bacon missing from a bacon & sausage sandwich. No sauce/wrong sauce. (Takeaway sandwich order). No butter (as standard) and when you request it it comes on 1 side & never ever spread to the edges of the bread. Requested egg cooked well done, arrives runny at best, often snotty. Gave some feedback....nothing changed. Ordered a cheese, ham & salad sandwich - cheese, ham & lettuce arrived (no butter obviously). Dry bread. Do I want ketchup or brown sauce with that? NO!!!!! How about some salad to go with my lettuce?Asked for some avocado with my salmon & eggs resulting in a £15 breakfast (yes really). On the plus side the quality of ingredients is always good - but it sadly doesn't make up for the mistakes & shoddy way that food is served. All in all it can be hard work & total pot luck in terms of what you end up being served.

I went for a late breakfast with my girlfriend and we were impressed with the place when we walked in. We went to the till to ask if we could order and was told somoneone would come over, great. They didnt come, so we had to ask again. When they did come over we ordered a couple of smoothies and eggs royale each. Our food then took 30 minutes to arrive but the smoothies hadnt yet come. So we asked about them and they came shortly afterwards. No apology, just told that there was a new girl who was making them today. So from entering it took 45 mins to get a drink, not what id expect. The food was ok but for over £25 for both of us its definately overpriced. I understand they may have been a bit busy but they didnt deal with this appropriately, didnt apologise and passed the blame. Its a shame but we wont be going back.

And as we know a salt beef sandwich can be tricky, al la Miliband, at the best of times. Also splitting tables for four into two tables for two meant there was not enough room for the waitress to actually serve the table. Splitting hairs; I would recommend it for a light lunch in a pleasant environment with friendly attentive staff.

Stopped off here on Sat morning for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. Menu was varied. Staff very friendly and the decor and cleanliness was good. The only things we didn't like we're the tables were very close together inside the door. And we had to go pay at the till when finished. Will definitely go back though...had serious food envy when we saw what others were having!

Excellent cafe for English breakfast, eggs Benedict, or my favourite breakfast Mashed Avocado on Soda Bread with 2 Poached Eggs. We eat here regularly, good value for money.

Nice place to meet up with friends for a coffee and cake, breakfast is also very nice. Downside is that they do not offer any gluten free dishes which seems very far behind other establishments.

Visited here but the don't have any gluten free options. Had to go elsewhere. Staff didn't seem that bothered by this issue

I eat my breakfast at Green Owl at least once every too weeks, it deels like home :) Their food is simple but 'honest' :) I enjoy their breakfast very much, especially scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. The staff is very friendly, and the general atmosphere is very relaxed. It gets quite crowded and loud during breakfast hours on the weekend.

A small deli and cafe. Went for lunch with a friend. Pretty decor and friendly staff. Large menu. Had an omelette and a cup of tea which at £9.75 is a bit pricey. Nothing special. I wouldn't rush back.

We enjoyed a summer of wonderful outdoor eating here, but do find that eating in the restaurant rather too tightly packed! They have tried too hard to seat their customers at peak times which has made it very uncomfortable. Especially those with young children trying to get them in and out of seats. The salt beef sandwich was excellent, but the special off the board was tasteless. The food is expensive ,but the young waitress was hard working and very friendly. We will return, but not at a busy time. Do hope this local eaterie does well as they have worked very hard to achieve success and now mustn't forget comfort of their customers.

Have been coming to The Green Owl for years and it used to be great. Always been expensive but I'm happy to pay for quality food. All I can say is this place has gone downhill and the service and food especially were appalling today. The tables are very tightly packed and my family (2 under 5's and my husband and I) squeezed in on a table. The waitress was pleasant but her English wasn't great and we had to clarify our food and drinks order numerous times - even again after she'd left the table. Our drinks arrived soon after but the coffees were lukewarm. We ordered two full English breakfasts, one child's beans on toast and one child's pancakes. The pancake was very disappointing as it was one (very!) small American pancake with very thinly sliced strawberries and bananas. A measly portion indeed for almost £6! My 5 year old finished it in less than 5 mins and was obviously still hungry. My husband and I were both disappointed with our breakfasts. The bacon was cheap and nasty, eggs were very pale and snotty, beans were hardly warm and as for the poor excuse of a sausage....yuck. Tiny and very undercooked I called the waitress over to show her it wasn't cooked properly (even showed her my husband's cooked sausage in comparison to my very pink one) and the manageress came over to tell me it's just the type of sausage that makes it pink. Errrrr righto then - I know an undercooked sausage when I see one?! I was asked to place it on a plate so the chef could re-cook it. The original sausage never came back but a new cooked sausage did - cooked but not hot at all and equally as horrible as the first one. All in all for 2 lukewarm coffees, 2 small cartons of juice, 2 horrible breakfasts, one measly pancake and a slice of toast with beans it was £36. We won't be back - total rip off and poor quality food.

Had a mixed Shish the chicken was dry and lamb was just lumps of fat. Very expensive for what you get. Although the staff were very good. This was a very large family event and all 8 tables were charged extortionate service fee and it total that came to £280 an absolute joke when we only had 2 servers. It took them over an hour for us to all pay as there was items on the bills that we didn’t get and unfortunately we decided just to pay and get out. But most certainly will not be returning.

Great from start to finish. The food is amazing! We shared the hot mezze to start, which was spot on (and huge). Then a mixed grill for me and a lamb stew for my other half - the meat was so tender and really well seasoned. Totally random but the salad with it was fantastic! Portion sizes are very healthy - we were both defeated (again, rarely happens). Service was attentive and friendly. All in all, we had a great meal and will definitely come back :)

Called here with a view to lunch to find it is now (end Aug) a smart looking Tandoori/Curry restaurant. We weren't looking for a curry lunch so did not stop.

Roza used to be our favourite Turkish. However it has gone downhill in recent times. Our last two orders have had missing items. We ordered the filo parcels for £6.50 I would expect more than three, it never come with the sweet chilli sauce. My chocolate brownie dessert was the smallest slither and came without ice cream. Again, for £6.50 I would expect much more. All the hot food and bread was stone cold. We didn’t receive a large pot of garlic sauce we paid extra for. We were told it would be around 40-50minutes, it turned up 20minutes later than that. All in all a very disappointing experience, cold food, long wait, over priced, missing multiple items, poor quality control or care.
