Wake up the food is great my wife and I called in for her birthday on speck and were more than happy with the food, taste, hot, and excellent presentation service good, I am a bit of a foodie so you try it, it's the food that counts.

Unfortunately, I went here on a day the kitchen was closed, not knowingly. So the place was quiet ... that's polite for dead, actually a good reason not to open the kitchen.. But I suppose that was good for the bar staff as she seemed to be new, possibly even her first shift? But she was pleasant, very cheerful, and lost. Will visit again soon as the place did look very nice.

Food was faultless great quality, although overpriced for the portion sizes. The service was shocking. The staff are clueless and slightly ignorant when we ordered our mains the girl on the till said ‘dunno if we have that’ and just stood there blankly - well can you find out then.. We opened a tab at the bar when ordering. We sat outside, you give your table when ordering which is pointless because they just come out the door and shout your order aggressively. We asked to order more drinks and the waitress said ‘we don’t do tabs outside, you’ll have to go in’ to which we replied well we already have one. Garden is riddled with ants nests, I understand we were outside but maybe something could be done about this, pesticide perhaps? We ordered a trio of desserts. Desserts got served and put in front of us and it was at this point we were told there was no creme brulee so we have 2 lots of brownie - would have been nice to have been told when ordering. Roasts cost us £21.75 for a small portion, took about 15 minutes to be given cutlery then we were missing a knife and thought it was quicker to just share a knife. Trio (now duo) of desserts cost £10.75. You don’t mind paying extra for good food and good service but the service was more or less non existent.

Food, delicious. Service, slow, seemed like we waited ages for our mains however we did order quite a lot and it was worth the wait.

Nice outside area, but weeds everywhere so wasn't really maintained. Could do with a sweep up. Inside was clean on tables and bar, floor abit dirty could do with a sweep. Ceiling needs redoing as it's falling down. Low beams (if your tall u HAVE to duck!!!). Bar staff very friendly and polite. Food takes awhile to come but it is very nice food

Placed in a lovely setting, tasty food and excellent service

The food was good quality but we had a roast dinner and a large proportion of the plate was taken up by the Yorkshire Pudding. Which meant that the other items on the plates were very small proportions . I have had better meals for the same or less price elsewhere.

Booked a table and we were told on arrival that they were missing four dishes or so. Sat down and ordered drinks whilst we waited for friends to arrive. When whole party was there and we were ready to order, we were then told that there was essentially only a handful of meals available, mainly the unpopular ones e.g. no burgers, pizza, salads and even the meals that were available had missing items such as potatoes. We were only told that the majority of the menu was missing as we ordered - felt like it was a waste of our time and we managed to get in somewhere else near by. Still made to pay for drinks (only four coca colas) and the final waitress that came the table didn't offer much of an explanation as to why there was no food. Really would have appreciated a phone call in advance letting us know about the lack of menu as it was a long journey for our friends to make and ended up being a waste of time. We understand that at times, delivery issues or other problems can arise, but giving your customers a heads up or even having a sign on the door would have helped. I would not recommend coming here again unfortunately as the way the situation was handled wasn't the best.

Some nice beers, but missing several items on the evening menu. I had the chefs pie of the day (chicken, leek in cheese sauce) - nice pastry, but couldn't find any obvious chicken, and way tooooo much salt. Wife ended up with her third choice from menu as kitchen said no. Dirty tables outside too. Poor.

Booked a table as this place was recommended in the top 20 vegan-friendly places to eat in our area and had a vegan menu section on their website. Upon arrival we were told 1 of the 4 vegan dishes was nit available. We were told we had to come back to the bar to place our own order, despite all the tables around us having service and waitresses. After ordering the vegan burger, the barman came out and asked "are you actually a vegan because we've ran out of vegan cheese"... When the burger arrived, none of the additional items included on the menu came with the dish. Only the vegan patty, on a plain bun. No side salad, no pickles, no tempenade. Paid £17 for a dish that didn't include fries and was just randomly put together. The waitress explained there was no tempenade available so they gave us a small dish with 4 chunks of avocado and a "homous" made out of mainly mushed up carrot. When we asked if we could have the side salad and pickles with it, we received no pickes and a bowl with loads of cress and 3 pieces of pepper SMOTHERED in oil. When we asked the barman about this, he said they had ran out of most of the ingredients and had no salad left. We were not pleased so we requested free pudding, as we had already payed BEFORE receiving the food (never a good sign). The barman agreed we were sold a disappointing meal and gave us free pudding. When the pudding arrived, the poached pear was recently (and barely) defrosted, freezing in the middle and had a hair on it. Bad service, bad communication all round, will most definitely not be back again. I had the chicken burger and it was cold and flavourless.

Really disappointed. Very poor, don't go if you have allergies.

I ordered the linguine, my wife the roast chicken. Owing to our late afternoon arrival the pub was virtually empty. But we did not suffer. The food was excellent, service too. My only complaint was the price of a glass of Merlot, which wasn't that good and certainly not worth £11.

First time here, by absolute accident. 🙂 Anyway, I can highly recommend this place. Nice atmosphere, delicious food and drinks. P.S. if you are driving from East, don’t get scared. 🤣 it seemed to me that based on surroundings, I’m in the middle of properly rural UK… and will not find such a nice place at the end of my journey.

We were there for my birthday meal. On arrival the customer service was very good. We were made to feel special and welcomed. The food was excellent and there was a Good choice. Our server Katie was friendly knowledgeable helpful and prompt. She was not too busy for a chat which was nice. Overall it was a great experience and when we plan to repeat thank you for all those behind-the-scenes as well as Katie for making this a lovely experience.

I’ve been to the Green Man a few times and the food, service and atmosphere is always great! Staff are always really friendly. Good range of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic and the food is always bang on. Great service from Katie too.

Food was ok, service was awfull. 4 drinks ordered, only 3 arrived. 4 starters ordered, only 2 arrived. . The wair between starter and main was almost an hour. We asked for extra gravy fir four people, only 2 tiny jugs arrived. We asked for 2 more, by the time they arrived all of us had finished our meals. Restaurant had people in, but it wasn't full or extremely busy, yet the staff seemed stressed and under pressure. Unfortunately, we wouldn't go back. There are may restaurants, and the green man was not a great experience which stiands out.

Visited today for Sunday Lunch with friends. Food was a total let down. Embarrassing as I am am retired restaurant chef. Beans on toast was lovely.

Absolutely fabulous food. The whole experience was superb with a really really reasonable lunchtime menu. The food was delicious and spit on, and Katie the waitress was wonderful, attentive and could t do enough for you. Definitely worth a visit.

Special offer on, but very little available to order. A phone call to let us know would have been useful. Food is otherwise good on other occasions visited.

Been here a couple of times over the last few months and each time the service has been bad, waiting all the time to place orders, orders come late and things missing, wait for tables to be cleared then waiting again for anything else ordered. Won't be going back for a while as it's not cheap so expect a better standard of service which it's just not being delivering at the moment!! Shame as it could be great.

Ruined my partners birthday, table booked for weeks when we arrived kept waiting for a good five minutes to take our table then to be informed the wait for food would be a good 45 minutes, needless to say we left, won’t be back ever, totally shocking and a massive waste of our time and petrol as we are not local, unorganised shambles

Lovely pub in village setting! Been here several times over the years; last time we came ( just two of us) the food left us wanting to come back... definitely worth the higher than average cost! Today I chose to bring visiting family for a delicious meal before they travel a fair way back home. On entering we were told there'd be 45 minute wait ( which would have been acceptable if the place was rammed!!), but we accepted this. We were served fairly straight away for drinks but then over an hour before our food choices were taken, we could see other tables ( two) waiting for their food. Eventually the food came, on first look I felt deflated as it did not look like £20 + per persons worth (burger and trimmings)! Ok, the first two meals came and they said the food was ok, chips barely warm, the second two meals came a good ten mins later and then the fifth; fries were cold and covered in mayo, the fish looked very well done and was mostly hard batter, the sixth and final meal came, ten minutes after the fifth meal and onion rings, it was a burger and a load of cold fries and little else. We tried to get condiments but the staff literally did not hang around long enough to ask for what we needed ( we did have salt but that poured out rendering 'one plate' of fries inedible). Onion rings were soggy and full of oil, the upgraded fries were shocking and we asked for a replacement which ( after third time lucky) came when the burger was cold! The server ( Manger) was a long time in between requests and not once were we asked if everything was ok!! Feeling very deflated, I asked the other server if I could speak to the manager and she quickly stated "she already is aware of the situation", well no she isn't because we haven't spoken to her... then we had to wait for her and then go and fine her!! Well we didn't have to pay for the food but nothing else was said, no apology ( not heard anyway), what a waste of a bank holiday Monday it's been. The manager stated before we could share our experience to her, she already knew the food wasn't up to their usual standard!! Why would you serve it to the paying public then! Shambles!

Looks like could be a lovely country pub. However the Tribute was cloudy and needed changing. I couldn't be bothered to ask for it to be changed because the woman who finally served me was on the phone talking to someone else at the time.

Went for Sunday lunch had the trio of meat. Advertised as with stuffing , didn’t have any. Parsnip and carrot were raw. One slice of beef and pork and a small chicken leg. All of which were overcooked. My partner had a salmon salad which came 15 minutes after mine, salad was 18 quid with the salmon, and appaeared to be a pre packed bag of salad. Five pounds extra for a side of cauliflower cheese which was one piece and not hot. Service was nice and the staff were friendly but the pricing for the food is way off, food in general poor bordering on downright bad but it’s priced far far too high when you consider what you can get elsewhere. Won’t be returning unfortunately

I have been coming here for the last few years with my dad as he used to bring me when I was a child so it was nice to go back there in my adult hood. It is more modern now and has been renovated . It's situated in a little village overlooking some lovely scenery. It's a really nice atmosphere we tend to go when it's quiet which is what we prefer early week mon , tues, weds lunchtime. The food is lovely my dad normally has ribeye steak and I go for the lamb rump plus some starters to share. The portion sizes are just right not too much and not too little. The last few times we came we have been served by a lovely lady called Danielle who made sure we had everything we wanted and checked everything was OK great food and great service . Will be back soon thank you 😊

Went here quite a few years ago and liked it so decided to take my friend today for her birthday. We were sat on wobbly table (though the waitress did fix it when asked) and were waiting 25 mins for our drinks order to be taken and then a further 15 minutes for 2 bottled ciders to arrive. We both ordered burgers and left most of them, chips were nice but dead cold on arrival and the beef burger itself tasted really tough and hard to eat and cheap even though it was about £20 fle the beef dripping burger. Had to ask for our plates to be moved and if any of the several servers that we had had asked how our food was I would’ve said but no check back at all was done. The entire experience was a real downer and we ended up maccies for dessert as we thought it’d be quicker. Won’t be returning.

Sunday lunch roast was amazing as always. Charley looked after us. She was very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Very friendly, attentive staff.

Went for a birthday lunch celebration. Food was absolutely fabulous - highly recommend the salmon. Charley and Sasha were excellent - efficient and helpful. Will definitely be returning.

Came for my mother's 86 birthday . We all had main couses and drinks. We all enjoyed the food. The table was fine and easy to get around.

Just had a lovely meet up with my friend. Really enjoyed the meal of fish and chips and the micro dessert was such a treat. Atmosphere was lovely and calm. Service from Sasha and Charlie was well timed and very polite. Morgan the chef popped out to check all was well. A lovely couple of hours with lovely food, staff and company.

Probably the best Sunday roast dinner around the Tamworth area. We visit occasionally and every time spot on. Please book as gets really busy. Lovely outside area, great location. Genuinely 10/10.

Had the beef pie, 4 pieces of beans, two pieces of broccoli pretty mean portions bit did taste ok. Gluten free salad however was very poor. Basically shredded cabbage, raw colly, small amount of humus. No dressing, no tomatoes, onion or lettuce. The worst salad ever!! Fries were nice. No draught ales available. Won't be going back.

The bar maids are amazing - the food is 10/10. They are very helpful and lenient, great facilities and a great crowd of customers.

A lovely small pub/restaurant with great food and excellent menus choice all set in beautiful surroundings. Ideal for a romantic evening or a family day out. Booking is essential to save on disappointment as they do get busy even midweek. We have visited this place a few time over the last few years and they have never disappointed. The staff are friendly and attentive. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Lovely peaceful lunch had not not pre- booked but this was not an issue , we were seating by the open wood fire which gave a very homely feel to occasion

Terrible service!! What’s the point of having x10 staff if only one of them is trained properly?? The lovely lady with short blond hair rescued our day but it still was overall very poor. Drinks took ages to get When delivered we’re wrong x3 times. Food orders came out at different times. When eating dessert was given the bill and then they realised it was not our bill.?? The whole place is in dire need of redecoration with one area with part of the wall fallen off. Very scruffy and for what we paid I would have expected more. There are certainly better places to go.

Came here last about 8 years ago, it had a good reputation back then and lived up to it. Its still as good, food was great, staff were helpful and friendly. Recommended.

Booked a table for seven o clock arrived about an hour early for a drink before hand, Walked in numerous children in the entrance who struggled to move so we could get in. got a drink a pint of Peroni which was off. Took it back exchanged for a Madri. Ordered food starters were fantastic. Main course ribeye steak. Beef dripping sauce with home made chips. No steak knife wife asked for one, 6 minutes for a knife while the waitress took other food orders.Beef dripping cold, chips like warm steak no meat just fat. Firstly sent sauce back then sent the rest back. Wife finished her meal then my new meal arrived. Kind of defeats the reason to eat together. Didn’t have desserts would have but just disappointed. Then got bill wrong also having to chase a drink. Eaten in numerous great restaurants up and down the country would not recommend or revisit. Most disappointing thing no one from management team acknowledged the poor service. Not asking for an any discount just a meal I could have enjoyed with my wife. From a disappointed customer Spoken to Manager didn’t care about the service more concerned about the Peroni not being off. Not concerned about the meal being terrible Dropped my call and wouldn’t answer the phone. Customer service shocking I will take this as high as I can, total rubbish Jack needs to learn some customer service skills because he has none.

I had the fish and chips,can only be honest and say it wasn't very nice. Also paid nearly £4 for the house salad that was so tiny and not very good. The Seabass portion was very small, too.

We went as a group of five, and from the moment we arrived, to when we left, we were very well looked after. The food was perfect on all accounts, on par with what you might expect from a top hotel chain.

We visited on Monday for a work meeting and The Green Man were more than accommodating. They were able to cater for my wheat intolerance without a problem and the food was amazing.

I came at the local for a meeting with work. Happy they can supply a private room for us to make this happen. Ellie was really helpful and would go above and beyond for us. Thankyou Greenman x

Two people on a Saturday lunch time just after Christmas so not particularly busy. Food was OK, just fairly standard pub fare. Service was extremely slow and inattentive, food was also slow to arrive. We wanted desserts after our meal but just gave up in the end after being ignored time and time again.

Very over priced and food was poor. Went for Christmas family meal, the food was not great at £20 for a main course. 3 cheese cakes which were basically 3 small balls. Much better places to eat at a fraction of the price.

We visited Saturday night and must say our waitress Danielle was absolutely fantastic she did everything she possibly could for my self and my partner, we had the chicken burger and fillet steak , mini crumble and mini brownie for desserts. We look forward to coming back and hope Danielle will be there to look after us when we return! We did feel ever so sorry for her as she seemed to have a table causing nothing but problems.

Only called in for a quick beer after a house move, collected the beers and a packet of crisps. A pint and a half of Pirroni, a small packet of crisps £10.56.

Late booking after original place was flooded! Been many times before but. not for Sunday lunch. and was not disappointed We all had the trio of meats which were excellent, as were the sticky toffee pudding & the crumble. Friendly service too by all the staff we encountered

The food was absolutely lovely and the service was top notch, our server was very attentive. Only reason why we said the atmosphere was lower, was due to the weather (which we received a phone call prior telling us around this and asked if we wished to cancel) and lack of people, there was only us and one other table in, which obviously wasn't the restaurants fault. Apart from that, we've been here a few times and it's been worth the 5 stars. Would highly recommend. Thank you very much for the hospitality❤️

Always welcoming, brilliant food and staff!

This was a lunch time visit for our Probus group of 13 people, after a local walk. We were well looked after by The Green Man staff. The food was good and served on time, including starters, main course and desserts.

Sasha and Charlie fantastic service.

Food was mediocre. For the price they are charging, it should be better. Average selection of beer. Service was good.
