the quality of the food is poor, the vegetables near the roast beef were burnt and unimaginative. Roast potatoes overcooked and mashed potatoes! The red cabbage tasteless and the carrots and parsnips burnt or overcooked. The roast beef was not a real roast but slices of beef. The dessert, reheated in the microwave was a real disappointment. I would be lying if I didn't say that the environment is well-kept and clean, the waiters friendly. I would not return

The green man has a good menu choice. It has a disability toilet and we have used the area to the right for a wake. The food was excellent.

Lovely pub and very nice drinks however I felt a little on edge any time I went to the bar. Staff seemed over run and not in a good mood. Staff also have a bad habit of just shouting “who’s next”. I have worked in many pubs and a good bartender should know who’s next or at least have some idea. Shouting who’s next is not good service and can quite easily lead to arguments between customers. This is not my first time visiting this pub and it always seems to be the same.

Held my father's memorial here and on Saturday. The staff were great, food was good and fresh. All in all an excellent pub which is fabulous value for money.

Went there after attending a funeral at nearby Hemel Crematorium. Pleasant atmosphere cheered us all up.

Nice pub, dog friendly and fairly accessible for most wheelchair users, did us well for meeting friends just before Christmas. Food was decent - I enjoyed my steak sandwich very much but the vegetarian options were a little disappointing for others in the group. I liked the touch of being able to borrow a dog bed and water bowl.

Nice for a coffee whilst I charge my car!

Really nice pub and I loved the decorations as I went there in Christmas time. Food was good and not too expensive. They've got Peroni on tap there, what else do you need xD

Have been going there regularly, food has been good, price has been good, only down fall is if you don't remember to put your registration number in the machine if you drive there you get a £60 fine like I did, sorry but you've lost my custom now to a pub that reminds you about parking when you go in.

Went for an evening Christmas meal, great value for money and good food.

WHY HAVE A CHEISTMAS MENU IF THE FOOD IS OLD?!!! The cheese was already melted on the Yorkshire pudding and then they threw shredded cheese inside without melting it, so you could see it was old. The vegetables were wrinkles and the sauce on the lamb dish was stuck to the plate and pitch black. The vegetables were wrinkled!!! It means it’s all pre cooked and old, ready for the microwave. DISGUSTING! It’s been microwaved so much the plate was scorching hot on one side. Worst place I’ve eaten, we actually drove to get here. The service lady asked us if the food was ok at the end of the meal. The dishes are way too overpriced for whatever that was they served us. My partner can’t get out of the toilet right now thank you for ruining our dining experience. Oh and the people coughing everywhere having coughing fits non stop at the bar was just the blessing we needed during dinner. Worst place ever, I’ll never eat here again do not waste your money! Fix your kitchen staff this is appalling, the waitress looked embarrassed asking about the food she barely could bring herself to the table to ask. SO OVERPRICED FOR THAT RUBBSIH! £20 for a lamb meal which is black and stuck to the plate??? Oh and vegans enjoy there’s a bang bang cauliflower for 2700 calories, how the hell do you even achieve that?

Teresa is basically my mother away from home, she’s always making sure I’m well fed and looked after. Bar staff goes above and beyond even for the littlest change in drinks. Big props to Abi, Oli, Tom, Jess, Sofia and the team! Definitely my favourite place to come for a drink and chill out, even if I live 35mins away..

Nice atmosphere. Very friendly. Decent food. I ate there 2 days in a row, had fish and chips on the first day which was mediocre - the chips also had a funny taste to them, not sure why, and today I ordered the avocado and mozzarella sandwich, which had almost no avocado in it. I regret that I didn't say anything at the time. I am visiting England from the USA, and although I liked the Green Man and atmosphere, I have eaten amazing pub food in other pubs during this trip - so this food was just average. Hence my only 3 stars. Exemplary service, however!

The pub itself was very pleasant the only problem was we went there for a meal which was very nice stayed about one and a half everything was fine, got home from work yesterday only to find a parking fine of £100 waiting for me. It statutes that I had not paid for the duration of my visit. I could see nosigns informing me that there was a charge or indeed that you had to pay for parking. Even though I enjoyed the pub I will not return. Please be aware.

This Pub/bar was the nearest place i could Charge my Electric Car from where i was Located, in Hemel Hempstead i had just come from shooting a Movie as im an Actress if u want Free Parking while charging ur car u would need to at least buy 1 Drink in the Pub then u put ur Registration detail's ofthe Car, if not you will need to Make a Payment on the Pay & Display Machine located outside there is a ANPR Camera as soon as you drive in which means your Licience plate is Recorded when u enter & when u Leave..🎬

The best Sunday roast we've ever had! The mash was my absolute favourite. The meat was so tender and the vegetables were beautifully cooked. The Yorkshire pudding was perfect. If I could eat more I would have.

Gammon steak over cooked aswell as pineapple and no double.mushroom or 3 cheese sauce

Delicious meal, sat outside and it was the perfect Saturday evening.

I only thing is the parking it's new here if you don't put in your car reg you get £100 fine the bar staff do not tell you. I had Sunday lunch it's was £ with drinks then got the letter for the 2nd of June not good not going back. Pub making money out of it customers grrrr

parking fine today 2 months after an event at the pub....how long has ANPR been in use here!? I'm a local and have used the pub for over 40 years , that will change I think , *at no point was it mentioned by staff* & no apparent notice in the pub thats plain to see . No , i hadnt noticed signage , hardly surprising really!!! Extortionate fine considering its not a parking violation as such just failed to register my car ... Disgraceful

One star because you can't do without it. In my view it is a disgrace to the name. I was in a restaurant with the same name, which is true a little further north, and I thought I caught God by the foot!!! Meat burnt/cooked on a grill that has not been cleaned from previous dishes, tastes like anything but chicken, the dishes are presented with such pomp and skill that you want to enjoy them from the menu, the portions are sufficient (not generous). The service exists but is completely lacking, I have to order from the app, I couldn't make the payment in the app, if you wait for a waiter to take your order, you can die of old age... Completely disappointed, not coming back, not recommending!

Turned up on Father's day at short notice after being let down by another restaurant .Staff couldn't have been friendlier. Pork and beef dishes very tasty. Service very speedy considering the amount of customers. Many thanks.

Teresa is always welcoming and helpful, and all the staff make it a pleasant visit every time. It is great that our dog is treated as a welcome guest as well.

Ordered Hake and Scallop Tagliatelle. Meue said hake and scallops. Arrived with a small piece of hake and 1 scallop. Tasted OK, but disappointing. Also ordered tomato, mozzarella, and advocado sandwich. Avocado black in places, and generally unappetising in appearance. Pity, this place is usually good. Also had to share our table with ants.

Popped in on a Sunday evening at 20:30 and still food was on. To late for roast. I had a burger meal, partner had Fish and chips. All good can't fault. We both had a beer.

My 1st visit here and had the gammon steak which came oversalted. The other components were very good tho'...Good beer. Surprised it was waiterless service so no tip required!

Great pub with a brilliant atmosphere. Food is excellent quality and amazingly presented. The bar staff are very attentive and friendly. Dog friendly with free dog snacks and a pay for dog menu. Family friendly.

Just had a garlic bread with cheese here, except it was actually toast with some cheese and garlic put on it, though: 1. There was no garlic taste 2. The toast was burnt 3. It was cold. Abject.

Great place although I've only been for the bingo

Have been here previously when the service and food was great so decided to come back with friends. I ordered the salad which was a main course with the adding sweet potato falafel and a side of garlic bread so say I was underwhelmed is an understatement. The salad was a tiny bit of limp rocket, a few tomatoes a tiny bit of red onion and 2 bits of cold brocolli stems with dressing that drowned the salad and left it looking even more limp and unappealing. The portion was smaller than a normal side salad all the the princely sum of £11. Words can't explain the dissapointment with the small pieces of tasteless falafel and the side order of garlic bread was 2 slices of toast with extra lashings of garlic butter. Was left hungry so had to order a side of fries. After paying an extortionate amount for a meal and leaving hungry was not what I expected. Will definitely not be revisiting, or recommending to friends we were very embarrassed "Email sent to address provided as requested "

We had an excellent roast here on sunday, the staff were welcoming and the free extra portions were a nice addition. The waitress maddie was attentive and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again

I would like to amend my initial views of the Green Man. I rated 4 stars for the food as indeed we were all happy with our meal, and the lamb shank I had was perfectly cooked. I gave 3 stars for the service and I would like to amend it to 4 stars. The reason of my first vote is due to having not seen much of the restaurant staff, but we only had one course meal, being lunch time. Therefore, and because we had no problem at all with the service, I am happy to change my rating. The atmosphere. Again, I may have been mislead as I've only been once, and at lunch time. The atmosphere was what you'd expect from a good pub/restaurant when I understood "atmosphere" as a party place... therefore, as a restaurant, the atmosphere was perfect, not too noisy, busy enough, with a great decor and a bright natural light coming from the large windows. I hope this will do justice to this pub/restaurant which I will recommend.

We visited this welcoming hostelry after the sad business of attending a good friend's funeral. Had to park our car away from the pub as it was packed out with family and friends both celebrating his memory and catching up as you do on these occasions. The atmosphere was buzzing and the pub staff were welcoming, helpful and prompt in serving both delicious food and much needed drinks to the gathered throng in comfortable surroundings. Thankyou all at the Green Man for allowing us to raise a glass or two in memory of our dear friend and helo raise our spirits at the same time!!

Event visit no clear direction on arrival and a n unnecessary dangerous step that I saw an older chap tumble up because it was poorly indicated.

Lovely pub with a friendly atmosphere, the conservatory room is really cool. I was disappointed with the "sharing" fries as they were about a normal singular portion and not cooked well- crunchy on the inside. The lamb shanks were very good otherwise, much better value for the money. Will return no doubt!

Booked in advance for dinner, but when i went to order was told they weren't serving food. Luckily another staff member overheard and recognised we'd booked and corrected them. But then the same thing happened when my wife went to order dessert. My pie was cold in the middle when it came. Edible, but not enjoyable. My wife's onion gravy was far too sweet for her to eat so she left that. The kids menu was really good, with plenty of options for side veggies. And the pudding portion sizes were pretty sensible. Overall, not a bad visit, but the food (the reason we went) wasn't great.

We came to Green Man for some food last minute due to other venues being fully booked. The roast lamb was gorgeous. The lamb was cooked to perfection. The servce was first class. Will be coming back

Hi we tried to go for lunch today . But they were over run with a funeral and kept putting food orders bk all the time You should have shut the pub and just had the funeral . ..I feel it was just pure greed that they kept customers hanging on

My family had Christmas dinner here and I can honestly say it was the worst dinner we have ever had however the staff who served us were great and I thank them for giving up their xmas dayI I would not recommend going here to eat we paid £70 for burnt hard roast potato’s cold veg and the smallest xmas pudding portion ever

Only stopped here on route to the crematorium, had a coffee. It is a large venue and had a few obvious work Xmas meals taking place. Also has some mum and baby's in for lunch.tge place could accommodate all without a problem. Next time I am in the area I will grab some food what I saw looked good and the patrons all seemed satisfied

A great Christmas dinner the food was excellent the service very good there was just the right gap between courses so you didn't feel rushed.

I’ve had amazing visits here for weekends. Having drinks with friends and the atmosphere and service has been amazing. A big special mention to Teresa who has been fantastic in making The Green Man an amazing place to come to with DJ and Karaoke nights. The staff are brilliant in there service and create an amazing atmosphere.

Great beer fantastic food and very helpful staff. This is an update on the above... Just been there for the first time in a couple of years. Have to say its even better than it used to be. Good family pub. You can go there and have a nice quite drink without being drowned out by loud music. It is a nice clean and well presented pub. The food menu is good and cateres for all age groups.

Excellent food attentive staff good price

All ways liked this place and food. Went Sunday and was told in quite an offhand manner. Not doing food anymore today. Must say it has put me off a bit. Especially as I had diverted off M1 to come. Sorry enough people offering food without that sort of casual rebuff. But an OK place if it suits them to serve you. I will not take that risk .

The food was cold! Even the gravy was cold! The signature sticky toffee pudding was cold and served without the pot of creamy custard as stated on the menu. So i have no idea if the custard would have been served hot or cold!

Service wasn't great, took awhile to get a drink (person serving took a mobile call mid way through), ordered some food, the chips, mash and peas that came with the meals were cold and dry, when asked for a replacement for the chips we got the same chips just nuked in the microwave. The lady cleaning the tables wasn't the most friendly and had to repeat myself about 5 times before she even responded to me :S

Best meeting place in Hemel Hempstead, seating and service 1st class, and they serve a mean cup of coffee !

Most of us ordered steak and chips but somehow the two medium rare plates were lost in translation. However, the waiter tried his best. Delicious chips and their apple crumble was amazing.

We were staying nearby and wanted somewhere to have a few drinks and watch the rugby World Cup. They put the match on at our request. We had great service all evening and both the staff and other customers were really friendly. Great outdoor area too and clean toilets. We didn’t try the food but everything else was brilliant so I’m sure that would be too. Thanks team, my friend and I had a top evening!

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch and a chicken and bacon pie. Great value for money delicious food. Lovely outside space. Karen and her team were super 👌 will definitely return

Went in here for a drink with my sister at 9:30pm to be told that from today they can’t serve anyone under 21 a drink after 9pm, they didn’t even id my sister who is 23… and there were people i knew there the same age as me being served… Just thought i’d write a review to warn other to not get dressed up and go here after 9 because you won’t be served Other than that, the man who served us was nice about it and i understand it’s not his fault just bare this in mind if you’re planning a night out here :/

So we arrived at 8.30 pm, we stated we wanted food to be told the kitchen shuts at 9pm, OK no problem with that as it would not take us long to find what we wanted. Well it never raised as an issues at all as my partner is gluten free, she noticed the allegen menu and thought excellent they have a gluten free menu. The choice was laughable 2 options of nachos and chicken skewers. Seeing the lack of choice to cater for the requirements we left and will not be returning. I would suggest you rethink your option on the gluten free menu.

I’m not that keen on pubs but this is a good one! Excellent pub food, great staff, great atmosphere, very clean. If I choose to visit a pub it’s this one every time now!
