Green Loft in Northampton

Loved the food, Its always freshly made and full of flavour! It's sad to hear they are now closed as My partner and I use to visit almost every couple of months. I would love to get some recipes to make at hope though.

It was our first visit to Green Loft, and we loved it! We were seated downstairs in the Chilli Village restaurant so can't comment on the decor, but the Chilli Village was really good fun and had a nice vibe. The staff were attentive and helpful, and while wait times were just verging on the long side, the food was wonderful when it arrived. Everything was beautifully presented and very tasty. The menu for vegans is great - it was awesome to have such a range of different meals to choose from. We will definitely be coming back to try the vegan fish and chips soon.

We went for lunch. The decor was odd, waited long time for our food. Staff could be heard arguing. Spicy bean burger bun was so dry it shattered when I bit it. Chips were over seasoned, too salty. The whole experience was very....odd!

1h 20mins for 4 simple starters. 30mins for the main. Vegan burger was a mess - wrong bun; just fell apart. Waitress was trying her best but what an absolute joke, the time we had to wait. Will not return in a hurry.

Do not support this business. I have never walked out of a restaurant, nor left a public complaint but the service my group experienced at Green Loft this evening was genuinely staggering. The starters arrived after the best part of an hour, and the items received were not as descripted on the menu. After waiting for 2 hours for main courses we politely asked if we could pay the bill as we weren't happy waiting any longer. The staff all but refused our request, and then stood in the doorway to prevent us leaving before the manager could arrive. When said manager did, we received no apology for the poor service and no offer of a discount or refund. We informed the manager of the discrepancies with the starters, and she implied we had read the menu wrong. Again, all of this was after politely asking to receive the bill for the drinks and food we'd received. A truly shocking experience provided by people who shouldn't work anywhere near a service industry again.

We attended the green loft on Friday Lunch, The food was phenomenal the service was above and beyond couldn’t ask for any more and the food was to die for.We rate the whole experience 10 out of 10 and will recommend the the Green Loft to everyone we know, we will be back

If you don’t want to sit around and wait for your food, don’t waste your time. The food was not worth it. For the starter I had the vegan gyoza which were okay. I also had the mushroom risotto and it had peas in it which was not even mentioned on the menu. I was very disappointing, the best thing was the bottle of the beer I had with my meal. Will not be wasting my time to go there again.

Wonderful meal with my partner here at the weekend. Superb food in general, forgetting the bonus of it being vegan. Fish and chips was almost indistinguishable from the real thing. Falafels tasted fresh, crumbled beautifully, hummus selection was delicious. Restaurant very funky decorated, we spent most of the meal spotting things around the place. Decor won’t be to everyone’s taste but honestly, well worth it. Waitress was wonderful, attentive and friendly even tho she was on here own. This is definitely the best vegan restaurant I’ve eaten in and I will happily return.

We loved our visit to the Green loft! The restaurant was beautiful inside, really different and unique! The service was outstanding, the waitress/host was so polite and accommodating. The food was outstanding, so many options and it all tasted beautiful. They also made sure all the food was presented well too, you really felt like it was more high end. Definitely recommend the Arancini balls for starter and the fish less fish and chips for main. We can’t wait to go back!

Starter: Vegetable gyoza, tasted amazing, I could’ve had a few more portions. For £7, only serving 4 is poor, to get people to continue to return, your prices need to be fair or at least the portion sizes need to match the price . Main: The ‘quarter pounder’ burger was really good, the chips were big and Chucky with a herb seasoning, didn’t expect that, they tasted really good. Service: The waitress was very attentive.Feedback: It’s expensive, as I said before, portion size should match price or the price needs to be lowered.

Went here for dinner with my partner a few weeks ago.Just trying to find the entrance to Green Loft wasn’t easy. Strangely irrelevant decor & caged birds at the entrance, bales of hay inside. We were the only customers that night, it was very quiet, and we were looking forward to some yummy vegan food. Unfortunately, the management seemed determined to be as miserable, unhelpful & customer unfriendly as possible. We were on the verge of leaving & cancelling our order due to the hostile attitude of the manager when we weren’t happy with our wine. We stayed & ate, we really enjoyed the vegan fish and chips and veggie strudel but the poor ambience and lack of manners and friendliness from the staff has put us off going back.Not an impressive first experience at all, extremely disappointing.

I really love this place as the food tastes great, its clean and tidy and there's so much variety of plant based food.However I do have a few niggles that really need fixing. 1) the online website says in big bold writing 'we are closed ' when actually they are open.2) the menu online no where near matches the menu at the restaurant which is annoying when you go there to try expecting to order something specific3) the dishes seem to change with the whim of the chef. The first time we went the accompaniments were different to what was listed on the menu and the second time the dish it's self was different. We ordered the teriyaki skewers both times, and both times they were different.The food is still really tasty (fish and chips was great) but these things need to be fixed.

Delicious food and lovely friendly staff. Great, quirky restaurant. So good to find an all vegan menu with lots of choices.

Lovely fresh food, nice decor with all of the plants, good music, good service and lovely plates to eat from. I like the skylight and candles. I felt relaxed and comfortable. I would definitely go again.

Wow!!! As a vegan it's a treat to find somewhere that the WHOLE menu is up for grabs!!! And this menu - we're talking gourmet! Surroundings are beautiful, fresh hay bales which smell divine, skylights letting natural light in and lighting which becomes warm and romantic as the light fades outside. My partner and I shared gyōza and arancini balls as starters, then he had the harvest pie and I the mushroom risotto. We were so full we couldn't manage a pudding - next time!!!Everything was FANTASTIC!!! Colours, textures, flavours, perfect!!Our waitress, Caitlin, was super friendly and knowledgeable about all the dishes.Our only criticism is that there is no way to leave a tip on the card machine. A tip was well deserved but, as is usual these days, we had no cash. Other establishments have an option on the card machine - management need to sort this out for their wonderful staff!!

After doing research on vegan places in and around Kettering (I was nearby) the nearest tempter I could find was Green Loft in Northampton. I went on a Saturday lunchtime just after opening. Firstly it’s a lovely restaurant - full of plants and it had a nice vibe with friendly staff. The menu was detailed and certainly not the “junk food” that vegan restaurants often offer (which I enjoy just as much as the next person)I went for the “fish” and chips which was delicious. It came with a tarter sauce and a mushy pea purée. Probably the nicest vegan fish and chips I’ve had. Although I was on a quick visit I made sure I had time for a chocolate sundae which was fantastic. It’s a shame I live 150 miles away so it won’t be a regular occurrence unfortunately but if I’m ever nearby again I’d be sure to visit again.My only complaint would be I couldn’t leave a tip as I didn’t have cash and I don’t think there was the ability to round up to a higher amount on the card payment. Other than that it was fantastic!

Best vegan restaurant I’ve ever been to. The food was amazing, the place is very well decorated and I’m definitely going back soon.

I'm so pleased the restaurant has reopened after a long hiatus. I've eaten here five or six times and have had a lovely experience each time.The food is always on point, with a great selection or both vegetarian and vegan food. The service has always been friendly and attentive. It's just a wonderful place to chill with a light and airy restaurant space filled with rustic decor. On this visit I went for the vegan fish and chips, which had the surprising and tasty addition of almonds in the batter, plus a slice of nori to give it a fishy flavour. It really worked! Overall this is a fabulous restaurant and I look forward to sampling the rest of the new menu. 5/5

Such a shame! The food was absolutely lovely but the service was poor and extremely slow. It took 2 hours for our food to come and the waitress was very rude from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Firstly, she made a fuss about not seeing our booking even though I had confirmed our booking with another waiter and the table was already paid out for us. Secondly, she said there was no kids menu even though there is one on the website. Thirdly, she seemed shocked when we wanted to order starters and mains which made us feel very embarrassed. Then she said she couldn’t give our children knives to eat with (aged 7 and 10). An hour into our wait for food she brought out plain crisps for us to eat without explaining why our plant-based food was taking so long to cook. One more hour later and the other waiter (possibly manager?) apologised and offered us free drinks. When the food did arrive 2 hours after we ordered it, it was delicious. I think the problem was there was only one chef and such poor communication to deal with the delay. Although I would eat the food again, I can’t recommend the experience we had tonight.

Signs tell you that the parking adjacent is for Chilli village/Green Loft customers. We duly parked accordingly and dined at the restaurant for over an hour, having starters, mains, and desserts for 3 people, as well as photographic means to prove it. To have a £100 Penalty Charge Notice enforced (despite a so far futile appeal to their Parking Company) added to an already hefty food bill will not endear this site to customers. Needless to say no response from Management or the site after numerous emails and phone calls.Cannot recommend, and won't be back. Bad taste left in mouth.

So great to find somewhere Vegan on my birthday - food was incredible and Darren was so attentive. Thank you for a lovely evening. My family who aren't Vegan also thought the food was amazing and we will definitely be coming again 😊

We went for a birthday treat and like to try something new so came to the Green Loft, food was good and I found it tasty. They were quite slow and some of the food was not available, we I could understand that if they were busy, but there were only 4 tables busy. Not having frozen icecream and the sorbet is just bad management. The only other thing is their ventilation needs fixing or turning on, as when we got home our clothes stank of frying, so coats, fleeces, scarves, hats, shirts and vests stank! wake up and smell!

I was brought here by my sister as a surprise for my birthday and I was not disappointed! The decor is wonderful, lots of plants and natural light.The menu had tons of amazing options to choose from (Thai Currys, fish &chips, goulash etc)...I found it quite hard to pick one thing!The service was speedy and our waitress was friendly and helpful, even going out of her way to get me a dessert with a sparkler in it!Couldn't fault any aspect of this place and I recommend everyone to go!I'll certainly be coming back when I can!

Very good quality food and good sized portions. Waitress was super friendly and very attentive. The food was lovely and packed full of flavour.

Went with friends some Vegan some meat eaters All enjoyed the food (even the meat eaters)I had the moussaka very nice and a nice toffee cheesecake The mushroom Wellington and noodle disk were favourited by others Staff friendly Note they have a car park at the side says permit only just log your registration in the restaurant

Food and service were excellent. All the food is vegan - so plenty of choice for vegetarians/vegans. Some options are "pretend" meat - mainly seitan based. Reasonable prices for the quality of the food.

I have eaten here several times and always found the food to be exceptional. I tend to eat vegetable based whereas my meat eating friend liked the sound of duck & fish. He opted for a very tasty goulash and I had the beetroot burger served with fries & slaw. The caramel cheesecake for pudding was delicious. We both left feeling very full as the servings are very generous.

We’d heard this place was good and went with high expectations. The entrance feels like an old funfair attraction. Weird. The food is good however, and there’s a good choice. I had the cashew wellington which was really tasty. Service was friendly but slow and we were accidentally overcharged. Only two other couples there on a Saturday night so lacked atmosphere. The hay bales, assorted tat and seventies muzak need to go though. Also the lights in ladies went out on me, and the lift is blocked off by two grotesque figures making it completely inaccessible to disabled diners. How this meets “reasonable adjustment” under the 2010 Equalities Act I’m not sure. A shame because it could be so much better.

A group of four of us visited, 3 vegan ( 2 for veganuary ) and one GF. They were so accommodating and adapted nearly every meal for the coeliac in our group. We all had different starters and mains, all were to a extremely high standard, you wouldn’t know some of the dishes didn’t contain meat or fish they were amazing. Everything was so tasty you don’t need meat in them. This place needs to advertise more, a massive space with only a few people dining, would hate to see it disappear . Great service from the young waitress and good value for money . Will be back very soon.

We went here not knowing what to expect but we were blown away with the food. It was absolutely delicious. I had the Thai Red Curry and the cheesecake for dessert. My wife had the lasagna and lemon drizzle dessert and they were both delicious as well. We would definitely come back to this restaurant again.

We visited the Green Loft in December 2019 to experience a vegan meal. Well what an eye opener, we had a selection of starters that included simulated chicken lamb and king prawn’s. The food was simply amazing with great flavours excellently presented and so confusingly good. The menu has a few other dishes that we will have to leave until our next visit. Definitely worth visiting for that special occasion.

All the food we had was very tasty, full of flavour. The portions in my opinion are very big, so if I went again I wouldn't order quite so much food. The best part was the food, the chefs must be highly skilled.

Very impressed with the salads and sides. The main was really tasty, ordered the lasagne and could not get over the fact that it was without dairy. It was delicious.

I had been desperate to try the food here and it did not disappoint. Try the chocolate torte.. .. best dessert I have had in a long time. I will definitely be back to sample more of the food.

We have been here a few times now and each time the food has been lovely. Me and my sister had the Lasagne which was very tasty and my husband had the Burger. The Chips are lovely. One of the party was a meat eater so we had our food downstairs but the lovely waitress bought our Vege meals down to Chilli Village to us. Would highly recommend this place. Chilli Village is tad expensive for us but the Green Loft food and pricing is spot on.

7 of us went to this restaurant a few of us are not vegetarians or vegans but wer open to trying something different for a change. We all had something different and we all enjoyed what we chose including desert. Even if your a meat eater and even if your not give this place a try you could be pleasently suprised.

Just visited with my family for my Mum's birthday and we were all so so impressed! I mentioned it was her birthday and they treated us all, but particularly Mum, so well! Without being asked, our two waitresses brought over her dessert with a candle in and sang happy birthday to her! So lovely :)

I’ll get he bad bit out of the way, the decor is awful and initially off putting. Love the plants and the space is nice, could look very nice in there but the gimmicky decorations and hay bales are not in keeping with the vegan cuisine. Not impressed that there are captive birds with fake plants. Empty restaurant too.

The menu is really good with lots of unusual dishes and the food we chose was excellent. The restaurant is very large and the decor is VERY strange! Especially the downstairs non-vegan areas through which you have to pass to get to the vegan bit. The service was good too but the very best part was the FOOD! I wish more people knew about the place as the couple of times I've been, we were the only diners. It should be better advertised .

I have visited Green Loft several times now, trying different dishes everytime and the food is always great. The service is a little slow, but the staff are friendly. The fish and chips is a definite favourite and so are the kofta kebabs.

We had a fantastic meal here tonight. Goulash and roast chicken with a sundae for dessert. Delicious! Nice range of food and fantastic staff who were so attentive. Can't wait to try more!

I’ve been vegan for a few years now and it’s nice to see a restaurant that’s dedicated to just plant based cuisine, not only that but top quality plant based cuisine. One of my favourite places to eat, the service was really friendly and the food was beautiful, I would definitely recommend it to anyone, especially to those who think vegan food is bland or boring haha.

What a fantastic place to eat! The hospitality was sincere and the food was delicious, oozing in flavour and creativity. How refreshing to have a total vegan menu, and an extensive one at that! The seitan steak was a first for me and I was amazed at the texture. I don’t usually look for a meat-like substitute in vegan food, yet this dish delivered on texture and flavour in an individual way. I understand that the chef makes the seitan him/herself. My starter and main were presented well and portions were generous. I will definitely be going to the Green Loft again & again & again!

Just had lunch at The Green Loft. What an amazing place! A very rustic venue and super friendly staff. And the food is delicious!!! Being vegan found it sooooooo tasty! 2000% recommended!!! But they also have other choices for those not vegan. VERY reasonable prices. It’s really a little hidden treasure! Now gone 2 days in a row, and come back again when we come back in the area with Number One Jive and Swing band, The Jive Aces

Start with the good: I had vegan fish and chips, excellent except my chips were over salted, used to eat them like that as a teenager but 5 decades on no thanks.

After reading so many great reviews bar the odd one about long wait times etc two friends and I finally went along for a meal on bank holiday Monday, we’d eagerly awaited eating here and unfortunately whilst OK we weren’t bowled over like we’d hoped.

The meals we had were outstanding and by far the best vegan food Northampton has to offer. I have eaten vegan food all over the place including London, and this was better than anywhere I have been so far.

A very nice vegan meal for five including a determined omni-carne-vore and we will return. Rather strange environment but friendly, courteous and efficient staff.

We have eaten at Green Loft a few times now. The food is all freshly prepared and cooked and we have been impressed with every dish we have had. The service has always been excellent with friendly informative staff. The restaurant is themed which gives an interesting environment. Portion sizes are generous so we haven’t made it to dessert yet. Highly recommend the red pepper and tomato soup and the cashew wellington

Excellent friendly service, amazing food, great atmosphere :) came for a family meal and had a fantastic time, really glad to see more options coming up for vegans in northampton!

The food is absolutely amazing! All clearly labelled with allergens too (having a soya intolerant vegan husband makes eating out a bit of a mission sometimes!). I had the fish and chips, husband had the thai curry, followed by the caramel cheesecake to share. All of it tasted beautiful, not the bog standard kind of meals you'd find elsewhere! Reasonably priced too, although I would say the drinks are slightly expensive. Loved it so much, can't wait to go back!

I heard about this place a lot so decided to visit with a friend.

We visited for Mother’s Day and the poor waitresses were rushed off their feet. They were trying to cope with far too many tables and did an amazing job. Food was lovely but over an hour to wait. Employ more staff and pay them properly please! These staff didn’t seem to get breaks at all. We tried to tip but they seemed anxious to take the money which was a worry.

We went in Valentines Day and the food was amazing, probably one of the best vegan meals I've had. Starters main and pudding all so good. We have booked again for my family and can't wait to go back.

The food itself was pretty decent, the table service was pleasant. However, our food took an hour and a half to arrive and that isn’t the greatest but the food we were served was alright.

We visited during one of the buffet evenings.

The food was lovely, quite rich, if any thing, the portions were too big but any leftovers can be taken home. Staff were lovely.

Sorry to say we were really very disappointed which is a shame as I had high hopes.

5 of us went here last night (4 adults, 1 teenager) and everything was amazing! This new gem of a restaurant is easy to find, has great staff, great atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff and the food is divine! Well-cooked, excellently-presented and fairly-priced, tasty food and drinks. What more could you ask for?! We'll definitely be returning and recommending The Green Loft to many of our friends.
