Waited over a hour for food to be brought the wrong meal, didn't relace took the food back and only got a part refund for the bill

They do great value specials at cheaper prices if there are two of you. We had bacon and cheese panini with homemade coleslaw and salad. They were very good, tasty and served quickly with a cup of tea each. Will definitely return if in Barnstaple.

Lived in Barnstaple and walked past this cafe many times but never appealed. In town on my own and decided to pop in for lunch. What a lovely surprise. Friendly staff, nice choice of cakes and food selection. Had a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw which comes accompanied by coleslaw and dressed salad. Plenty to eat and really well cooked. When tea came, I was invited to ask for extra hot water but i easily got 3 cups out of the teapot. Will be back!

One of my favourite cafe in Barnstaple. Had slow cooked brisket sandwich from the specials board, which certainly went down a treat. Served with mixed peppers, spicy BBQ sauce, crispy salt & pepper onions. Very tasty, couldn't finish it all. Would definitely recommend. Won't need to cook any tea tonight that's for sure. 😋

It was a nice cafe, very decent drinks, staff was nice. The prices were decent and there was nothing wrong with the cafe, I would recommend!

We popped in for a quick lunch and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the prices were so reasonable and the service was great. We are looking forward to returning to try their breakfast!

Came in today with my wife and son and it was really busy Was told it would be a 20 min wait for the food absolutely fine with us when it came and it was well with in the 20 min the quality on the food did not reflect the busyness of the place. The food was still first class. Will be back soon

Have visited on a Sunday-morning twice now so far and it’s been the best breakfasts we’ve had for a long time . Its cooked perfectly comes quickly and tastes so good we have the smaller of the breakfasts (green lanes )but there’s plenty there .All the staff there are cheery and pleasant prices is very good too will definitely be going again

We called in here for lunch and had an all day "fat boy" breakfast and a chicken/bacon burger. The service was very good and the food enjoyable. We paid £26 including two teas - not bad value in my opinion.

Attitude really rude meme et of staff let’s it down for your cafe will never come back here again. Shocking service when asked where my wife’s toast was she looked at like it was a problem

Ordered a bacon sandwich for my breakfast together with an orange juice and a pot of tea - staff were very attentive and pleasant. However the bacon sandwich was very greasy to the point that it made the bread soggy - needless to say will not be going back again for breakfast

Ordered the big Breakfast , Excellent quality, hot and freshly cooked the only thing that lets it down is their sausage, otherwise you cant knock it. Staff very polite and friendly

My husband and I have been here several times now for breakfast and we find it to be very good. The establishment is very clean and well looked after. The staff are friendly and engaging - it's nice to see them with regular customers and taking the time to speak with the elderly who may not see many people on a daily basis. The menu is a fair size with a variety of homely meals at really reasonable prices - special offers are also available throughout the week. The breakfast - the breakfast is your basic full English with your no bells and whistles ingredients but it is cooked well and tastes good. The coffee is lovely and fresh and comes in a variety of sizes and types. The service is fast and the overall experience is very good for a very large cafe that does get very busy due to its location. We paid around £22 for 2 breakfasts and coffees, which is around the usual price in town and we feel it is worth it for what you get. We will be back again.

Having previously eaten here before covid I was excited to go back. Me and my partner both ordered a jacket potato with beans and cheese and drinks each. Our drinks came and my glass was dirty with small black bits floating around when I poured my drink. Our cutlery also arrived and my fork was dirty. When our jacket potato’s arrived both of them had parts that were uncooked and neither jacket potato came with a fruity salad like it used to. The staff that served us were friendly and polite but hugely overworked, we overheard one member of staff say that she ‘wouldn’t get a break today’ because ‘it was so busy’. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back here again.

When we visit Barnstaple we quite often have either a breakfast or lunch at this cafe. The service is excellent with a good choice of menu. The big breakfast is lovely. Staff are friendly. An asset to Green Lanes shopping centre.

Very busy cafe but didn't wait long to be served. Both had big breakfast very enjoyable very hot and very filling. Good really well and not greasy. We both had coffee again very tasty and hot. While in cafe constant flow of customers mainly locals so you know its good when locals use it. Great overall experience.

I love this place! Nothing is ever too much trouble here. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and the food is pretty blooming good too! Best jacket potatoes in town and the fruity salad has to be seen to be believed. I recommend it to everyone! Hood to see you there! ❤️

Even though there were a lot of staff in there who were quite friendly, I waited for ever for my order, which was pretty expensive for what it was. and when it eventually arrived, the bap was stale and fell apart. I may as well have ordered a plate of bacon and mushrooms because that's where the contents of the bap ended up. Say what you like about places like McD's and KFC, but their food is 10 times better and cheaper than the piece of **** I had. I wouldn't recomend the place to a starving Ethiopian.

Visited today. It’s ok and fairly tidy. Toilets were clean but a bit neglected. Drinks were ok and staff were pleasant.

Lovely toasted sandwiches, my wife had white bread with cheese and tomato and I had ham,mushroom and cheese. Unlike other cafes when the milkshake arrived it was in a large coke glass not a small one. clean cafe.We will go back again when in Barnstaple.

We went to the green lane cafe , we ordered food and a drink . We was waiting for our food for age , our food was waiting on the counter uncovered with customers coughing and all over it for quite a while , food was cold and so was the drinks . Won’t go there again

We came today for a family meal inbetween shopping. We always use green lanes cafe and never have a bad word to say, however today We ordered 2 iced coffees, and felt very let down, 2 glasses of warm milk with coffee in nothing Iced or cold about them, we couldn't finish them.

Charged more then I was supposed to because "it was on a sandwich not a roll" even tho I did not get the offer so paid £16.60 for 4 Bacon rolls

Very friendly and helpful staff, the food was presented well and tasted great, and very generous portions. It was very busy but staff didn’t show any pressure of this and cleaned up tables swiftly to ensure ready for new customers.

Disappointing really. Staff holding conversations with each other whilst serving. Tea was OK but breakfast was disappointing. Nice bacon but what appeared to be poor quality sausage and egg seemed very small.

Went here with my 2 nephews as we love coming here to eat very friendly staff and very helpful and would like to say a big thank you to one of your staff not to sure on her name but she is tall and blond hair I think. She stayed with the baby so I could take the other to the toilet and I'm very grateful for her help

A good breakfast at a reasonable price can be had here.

Popped in for a cuppa and a bacon roll. Both were served quickly hot and tasty, even though they were busy.

May I suggest that anyone who would require the use of a high chair while eating here, chooses somewhere else to go for lunch!

Very disappointed. Went there for lunch on a Sunday with a friend and the food had to be taken back due to a hair being in it! The customer service was bad, at the till and the young lady serving was still having her conversation with colleagues whilst serving. Won’t be returning.

Staff are very friendly and helpful, younger chef has adapted particular dishes to suit vegetarians/vegans for us on the spot which is greatly appreciated.

I think both the food and service are excellent in this cafe. We like to try all the cafes in Barnstaple but often return to this one. I can recommend the sausage and bacon bap and the tuna/mayo sandwich, excellent.

As usual the food was hot and good value for money, had the All Day Brunch but dont like mushrooms but they did allow me to change for something else.

I go here weekly with my friend and our children. They offer good deals on breakfast and also children’s lunchboxes, which the children love. The staff are always friendly. There is plenty of room for pushchairs and the children are always welcomed.

Visited this cafe for lunch with my other half and the baby. Made our order and sat down. They could do with a few extra staff members as the service is slow. The biggest thing that would help them out is table numbers. It’s quite a big cafe and asking where your sat and then just going on what you say like “over there by the door.” It’s an effective way to get the orders to where they need to be. There was a couple of times we saw waitresses go to the wrong tables. Other than this it is a very nice cafe with good food at good prices.

We popped in for a coffee and slice of lemon cake, while out shopping. We were surprised to see the wide choice of snacks, baked potatoes, paninis and meals.

Lovely lunch today. We do not usually come in here for lunch and we was pleasantly surprised. The special burger came with chorizo, cheese, home made onion rings a fresh salad with dressing and chips and the burger was home made it was lovely. I also had a toastie with cheese, ham and tomato which was nice and crispy. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

My wife and me decided to pop in for a spot of lunch while we were in green lanes. The staff are excellent and even though it was very busy, our food arrived quickly. We had a really good lunch and would recommend this cafe to anyone visiting the shopping centre.

We come to Barnstaple twice a month and often visit shops in Greenlanes. For some reason we have never sampled this cafe.

this is a very popular cafe as it is in the centre of the shopping mall in Green Lanes precinct. The sandwiches were lovely on gluten free bread served with a side salad. will definitely go back again

Stopped for coffee and cake. There were 6 of us and we had 5 of the numerous cakes that were available. Lots of other soft drinks available as well as the freshly made coffees that we had. This wasn't out first visit and we'll certainly be back again in the future.

We stopped for a quick bite to eat before heading off elsewhere. This certainly hit the spot. A cup of tea and a teacake were just enough and were very good.

Tuve una gran cena aquí, recomiendo encarecidamente el pollo y los 12 cazadores oz burger gran valor. El chocolate caliente era caro comparado con otros restaurantes, pero es agradable. Precioso y el personal servicial. Sin duda volveremos a visitar.

Had fried breakfasts this morning and it was very tasty indeed. Really good quality food. Only downside was the milkshakes which was basically strawberry milk. Otherwise very good!

They do not offer , what I call proper full cream blue top Milk. I find that insulting. We asked for full cream , they said yes. Upon deliverance the waitress told us , cream is another 6p. Told them did not order cream , but just full cream milk. Think its poor to judge that full cream milk is not appropriate. I do not like taste off anything other in my coffee....

Popped in today 16th December with my daughter as we was shopping in Barnstaple, as it was about 9.30am we decided to have a hot chocolate each and share a sausage roll as we was having lunch later. Hot chocolate disappointing in taste and not very hot the sausage roll was awful heated up in a microwave was limp and tasteless. Had better in a motorway cafe where you expect to get rubbish. I don't usually write bad reviews would have given terrible but the waitress was very attentive, will not be going back

We live locally and have visited this Cafe lots of times. The staff have been accommodating and friendly every time. There's lots of space for a pram and a good selection of tasty Cafe foods. They have clear gluten free options too.

Not too bad but went to sit down and one of the staff cockily approached us and told us the area was closed and gave a dirty look poooooor customer service ☺️ and the tap water tastes like drain water, was better before it moved locations

This is good venue situated within a shopping mall close to one of the entrances, good disabled access. pleasant staff and good service. Food is good and brought to the table very quickly. Can be extremely busy during the day.

stopped here for a drink we had three coffees and a white hot chocolate and 2x caramel slices to shares everything tasted lovely the service was very good and it was very clean and tidy also one of us had a 10% discount card which we used and i thought it was all well priced great

We stopped here as our baby needed feeding and we fancied a cup of tea. The staff are all rushed off there feet feels hectic for them and there are too many takes close together so there's hardly any room if with children esspexially if you have a pram! Wouldn't return unless it's quiet.

We stumbled upon this cafe just inside the shopping precinct and had lunch which was very tasty and served by friendly staff . We can recommend the quality of both the food and service :)

Food good served by friendly staff. Much bigger now it has moved from it has previous location and more room between the tables. No lock on the toilet door though - at least not when we were there.

We call here every time we visit Barnstaple - it's clean, spacious, airy with pleasant efficient staff and excellent food. Highly recommend

I love this café, I have come to this café ever since I was little, for a treat. As I'm older now this café is very welcoming for me and my family and is great for meeting people for a catch up. I wouldn't visit this café for a meal as sometimes prices can be a bit expensive but on the flip side the portions are good and very tasty, you definitely pay for quality!

Here at moment sampling a cheese , tomato and pepperoni toastie . tastes devine . food very well presented and there is even a side salad and fruit medley with the jacket spuds. Fully recommended

Stopped off for a breakfast on a dreary Monday morning. Had a lovely breakfast and my daughter enjoyed a snack box and then jam on toast. Great, prompt service too. Would have given 5 stars but I honestly didn't enjoy my coffee :-( sorry

We love this place, it's our regular lunchtime place in Barnstaple. As I am on a healthy eating plan I chose the Veggie Bean Chilli jacket potato which was absolutely delicious. I love the accompanying fruit salad served here, it is an inspired invention, such a great option to conventional salad. My husband had a bacon & cheese panini which looked wonderful and he said was delicious and a huge piece of Millionaire's Shortbread also delicious. Service was fast even though they were very busy.

The food is always piping hot, good quality and good value for money, but it does get very busy here! It could do with doubling in size again, even after moving premises to a larger cafe, this place still gets extremely busy. We tend to go on a whim, if we pass and see a free table we would chose to eat here. However we would not wait for a table as there are other comparable cafes in town

My wife and I had paninis and coffee here. Both paninis were very good and came with a lovely side salad and chips. Coffees were nice, cakes looked excellent but we were quite full so didn't have any - I will next time. Good value for money.Had our baby daughter with us and it was a very family friendly atmosphere. Will definitely pop back for coffee or light lunch on a future shopping tip.

Ordered 2 coffees and cakes. One coffee was a latte and one was a white americano and one of the cakes was a fresh cream doughnut. The cashier confirmed the doughnut because she asked another assistant the price. We sat at a table after finally finding one that had been cleared, there were so many tables not cleared of used dishes. After 10 minutes an assistant came over and asked what cake I wanted and again I said a fresh cream doughnut. After another 5 minutes the assistant came back and placed our 2 coffees on the table along with a fresh cream fruited scone. I sent the cake back and then after another 5 minutes the assistant came back with a plate containing the scone a turnover and a fresh cream doughnut and asked me what I wanted. Obviously I replied I want the doughnut which is what I asked for in the first place, I am totally confused with their actions and why they had difficulty in providing the correct cake. When the cake finally arrived I them had a question about the coffees as they were just placed on our table and both looked exactly the same but they should have been different, I asked the assistant if the the coffees were the same and she replied yes, I then said that one should be a latte and one an americano so she then just pointed to one and said that is the latte. I can not comprehend the lack of knowledge of what they are selling and their incompetence. I had to be careful with the fresh cream doughnut when biting it and putting it back on the plate because it was that hard and stale that I was afraid I would crack the plate if not placed on it gently. Terrible service and poor quality of food and will never be going back there again.

On holiday, looking for somewhere for lunch when we spotted this place. Quite full but found a table and ordered our meal. Drinks arrived within minutes and the food followed very quickly. Piping hot and very tasty. The whole experience made us repeat our visit two days later, when we chose different dishes. Once again very quick service, good, hot, food served by very pleasant staff. Highly recommended.

Haven't been for a while but came here for afternoon tea, and it was very nice, very good service. Not the cheapest place but worth the money.

I regularly grab a bite to eat or a coffee from here as I work locally to the cafe. The staff are always cheerful and friendly and the food has always been great. The only downside in my opinion is the price. The food does tend to be quite expensive for what it is (ie, a panini or sandwich etc). Having said that, the ingredients always appear to be good quality so in that sense you do get your money's worth. If you want cheap there are other places nearby, however if you want good quality food with a friendly service I can highly recommend Green Lanes Café.

Always go here to meet up with friends. Lovely meals, great staff & always a warm welcome. The salads are well worth the money as is most things on the menu. If you're just wanting a cuppa its still a good place to go. Convenient for the shops & good place to have a relaxed cuppa after a hard day's shopping.

Went in for an all day breakfast call it the gutbuster its too much for 1 person, i can barley manage the £3+ meals chips and chicken nuggetts, 1/2 a jacket potatoe, the last time they wanted to charge me 80p to have some chicken nuggetts with me 1/2 jacket spud.And another time before no matter what u ordered on the £.15p menu u can chop n change.

Visiting Barnstaple for our Valentine weekend, we were unsure where to stop for lunch, as we only felt like a jacket spud. Entering Green Lanes Shopping, we found Green Lanes Cafe on the end, stopped to have a jacket potato, the pictures below show the quality and presentation. Absolutely superb.

Nice place, staff all friendly, food was nice, slightly pricey but not too bad. Good portion size I couldn't finish it all. Would definitely visit again.

This is a café, and does exactly what it says on the tin.I agree with other reviewers that it is expensive, but it's location & convenience in Green Lanes probably dictates that.It is always busy, which is a good sign, but there are always plentiful of staff and they always seem to be very cheerful.My last visit I was helped by a lady that seems to work there 24/7 (didn't get a name, older lady with glasses). She is always helpful and friendly. She helped me with the highchair that attaches to the seat, and made an effort to make my daughter and I feel welcome (she always does).The food portions are large and the food is good for a café. I have eaten Jacket Potatoes, Panini's and salads there, which have all been good.The coffee isn't the best, so perhaps avoid if you are after a good coffee, but nothing wrong with the other drinks.I would rate this as a 4 star (based on expectation of its purpose) if it were not for the attitude of the owner. There is a large unisex toilet which has plenty of room for a pram etc. When I have asked (several times) why there is not a baby changing facility in the toilet (plenty of room for a fold down one), the staff have told me 'the owner doesn't want Mum's and babies clogging up the toilet'. A ridiculous attitude that I'm sure deters plenty of Mum's with their little ones. I have been told to walk back and use Green Lanes Shopping Centre changing facility (which isn't great).I'd choose other eateries over this one because of that factor and feel it's about time the owner realised he's probably alienating a lot of custom because of it!

Lunch time visit; very busy, a waitress made sure there was a table for us, the drinks arrived remarkably quickly, the panini were delicious. Definitely a warm, friendly and efficient service. Thank you.

Full meals are too big for 1 person i ordered a kids mela 1/2 a jacket spud n beans did me lovley, the coffee and walnut cake was awesome, only downfall a pair of beers were warm and not ice cold.

My friend and I often have lunch in the green lanes cafe, the staff are always friendly and helpful and the food is always great, plus great value too!

For a great brekky and value for money and friendly staff this is the place to go nothing too much trouble hot coffee and quick service to boot.

Tea is weak as gnat's ... just hot water with weak as >> tea YUCK. 1 teabag per pot of tea tightwads and overpriced for what paid for.

I had the ham egg and chips and my partner had gammon egg and chips. Both portions were large, and we're exceptionally good value for money. The staff were also brilliant too. Definitely worth a visit, whether it's just for a coffee or a hearty meal.

This café in the Green Lanes shopping complex is ideal if you are out shopping and want a meal or just a coffee. The café has a first class degree of cleanliness, the service is good, the staff are friendly, and the food is good, An excellent pit stop when in Barnstaple town centre for any reason.

Wel I have only just found this little gem!. I was needing a quick coffee and sandwich having done my shopping and wandered into this place. A busy cafe in the Green lanes shopping centre. I was impressed by just how busy the place was with all sorts of people eating and drinking and having ordered a coffee, sandwich and, yes, a piece of cake I sat down to enjoy them. Well the coffee was really good as was the cake, a piece of tiffin but the best was the sandwich. A really well filled fresh chicken mayo with salad. Brilliant. I think they must have used a whole chicken breast!. There was so much lovely fresh filling it took me a while to eat and enjoy. I actually had to go back to Barnstaple the next day and purposely went back to the cafe for another sandwhich, tuna salad this time, to take out. Just as good. All the sandwiches are made fresh every day and there is a good choice of fillings. Really impressed Green Lanes Cafe, well done. Next time I shall try to stay long enough for a full meal!

Lovely food and great prices. Whether you want a meal or just a coffee and cake you will not be disappointed. The café is inside the local panier market so you can people watch while you eat. Lots of locals use it so it must be good food and value for money

Start from the beginning. We sat in the seating area by the windows which is a lot quieter than the main cafe area. The main seating area is too loud for my liking but the side area is ideal. The food was hot and cooked fresh, really tasty and good sized portions. Averages for food depending and happily pay those but drinks prices were surprising. £2.10 for a Coke -330ml bottle, same size as a can. This was the only let down but not a massive issue. Mayonnaise is available from the counter on request but is not on the table. Would visit again but can't help feeling annoyed at the price of coke...although a happy visit, this cafe is similar to other places around town although I would visit again

Nice little box meal for my friends Ham egg and chips for them and jacket potato for me. Throughly enjoyed every bit of it. Didn't take too long for the food to arrive.

Every time I see my dad, we go here to get a drink, cake and sausage roll. My nan works there and I love it.
