As a family, we decided to do something different for Christmas 2024. We went to Green Gates for Christmas lunch and it did not disappoint. From the start to the end, we had fantastic service. The choice of dishes was good and the food was amazing. The restaurant was very accommodating on making a special dish for a person with specific allergies. If there was any negative, it would be that there was too much food. It was a very pleasant experience going to Green Gates for Christmas lunch. As a family, we are looking at booking it again for Christmas 2025.

yesterday night I visited 1st time there food was amazing 🤩 can’t describe taste felt still on my tongue. It was brilliant service m order again today would be regular customer now. Had a lovely experience at Green Gates Renfrew last night, where we were greeted with a delicious complimentary soup. Service was polite and all the preparations were great and totally authentic (loved the soya chap, kurkuri bhindi, garlic naan and kadhai paneer). Tarun is thoughtful and makes efforts to ensure that every guest leaves with satisfaction. Definitely my go to place when I'm craving Indian comfort food!

We recently visited Green Gates Renfrew on two occasions and it was such a delightful experience! They have a welcoming ambience and a lovely staff!!! What I look for in a restaurant is flavourful food, great staff and a welcoming ambience and more importantly, consistency in all these three factors that will determine our future visits and this restaurant has ticked all the boxes both times. Will be a shame if I don't leave a review of this amazing restaurant that has left us mighty impressed. They have such diverse options for vegetarians. I was told they can make anything off the menu too - just need a heads-up a few days ahead. A special mention about Payal who beams with high energy and recommended me to eat Soya Chaap and Tandoori Momos which I had not tried ever before, and I must thank her for these great recommendations. I loved both dishes so much that makes me want to again! Also, Bharati was the lady who made sure our food was delivered on time and promptly fulfilled all our requests. Verdict: It is a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Indian food in a comfortable setting. I’d highly recommend it for family dinners or a casual night out with friends. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to try more dishes!

This is one of the best restaurants in the city. Be it food, the ambiance, the staff everything is perfect and amazing.One of the good thing is that we went there nearly 2o’clock but opening time was 4 o’clock but they did warm welcome for us that and served food❤️😊Really i had best experience there. Buffet night! Staff were very friendly, helpful and informative. Food was delicious, it was nice to try different things that I would not normally order. A great range of vegetarian food We will definitely be back 😊

Four of us visited Green Gates, Ferry Road, Renfrew straight after work, around 6.30pm on a Tuesday night. We were greeted by very friendly staff and shown to our table. Poppadoms with spiced onions, chutney and a mustardy, pickle dip. Nice but not enough dips for four poppadoms, to start. 2 Chicken jaipuris, 1 chicken dopiaza and a chicken dum biryani. 2 portions of rice, 2 portions of chips and a huge plain nan bread. All very well presented and served. My biryani was a touch dry. The other 3 said there,s was good. 1 guy had gulam jabah and 1 guy had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. With 4 cokes, the bill came to £96.00. Oh.....and we were each given a free aperatif of tomato soup in a small cup...it was lovely. So....scores on the doors.... Two 8,s...one 8.5 and one 7. Thats 7.8 out of 10. We will deffo recommend it to friends and family.

We have been thinking of going there for quite sometime now, glad that we finally made it. Loved the street food specially the Tandoori Momo’s and Panner Tikka. The staff were very friendly, so kudos to them.

Fantastic customer service and best Indian food in the area! We ordered a take away for our son’s birthday but needed it early due to other commitments. Staff were willing to accommodate this and delivered a delicious, well presented spread. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

Brilliant i visit renfrew from birmingham regularly and this restaurant is ALWAYS the highlight of my visits. Staff are always welcoming and are great fun. The food is second to none. Our party of five all had different starters and mains none of us could fault anything we had. For those that have stated the restaurant is overpriced , compared to what? Mcdonalds? Five of us had poppadoms starters main courses 2 bottles of wine 6 pints all for just over £200 . Quite simply the best indian restaurant ive been in.

Excellent service from very knowledgeable staff who are happy to talk you through the menu and willing to ask the Chefs to adjust the spice to suit your palette. The food is cooked to order and is absolutely delicious. We noticed the GG Renfrew are doing a lunch special on Friday and Saturday’s £9.95 for 2 courses and £11.95 for 3 course. Looking forward to trying this great offer…

The best mixed grill ive had hands down

I placed an order for collection on green gates website, was told my order would be ready in 45minutes. When to the restaurant at correct time and they acted like they didn't have a clue about my order. Ended up having to wait another 40mins to actually get my order. This has happened a few times when ordering from here. The food is ok but definitely not worth the wait or the bad service. They don't even apologise or offer anything for the bad service. Ridiculous,

Been here for an impromptu dinner with friends and everything was delicious. Ordered quite a lot of dishes and most of them were good and kids did enjoy as well. Specially their typical North Indian street food dishes like tandoori momos, soya chaap and curries like malai kofta was very good. Highly recommend 👌 👍

A great restaurant with excellent food quality. Tarun is brilliant with his customer service. Green gates (Renfrew) has catered for a few of our family gatherings and the food has been exceptional with high quality ingredients and authentic flavours. We have a peanut allergy in our household and this restaurant has become our go to place as they cater for allergies as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a memorable experience.

Staff are always attentive and nice. Foods always been nice, usually try different food each time I go. We shared the raan lamb, made fresh was packed with meat. Tender lamb and sauce was lovely. Be back. Always parking just outside it.

This is one of the best places for an authentic Indian food we have had ever at least in the UK if not beyond. We are based in Dundee but always try to find reasons to go to Glasgow just to have food at this nice restaurant. Great food, great atmosphere, plenty of options for vegetarians and above all Tarun - the owner - is a gem of a person! Looking forward to our next visit there whenever it happens :-) Sanjeev

Visited the restaurant last night with two friends who are up here on holiday. Menu was unusual and varied, chose a starter & a main I hadn’t eaten before. Both were delicious ( potato patties, mutton in flavoured sauce). But the highlight of the evening was, after a member of our party had mentioned he really liked Dosa (not on the menu) the owner got his chef to make him one especially!! Three of us had never had one before, a special treat, it was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal & the atmosphere. We will be back 😊

The butter chicken had absolutely no flavour at all, I’ve never had one so bad. The garlic lamb with mushroom was so salty it was inedible and the whole thing went in the bin. The mixed pakora was okay, but only 9 pieces of pakora wasn’t really worth the money. The best bit of the whole order was the peshwari naan, but spending over £30 just to only have a bread worth £4 as the only enjoyable part isn’t acceptable. I don’t think I’ll be ordering from here again.

Would definitely recommend excellent food and service lovely staff. A lovely touch with the complimentary soup. This was my second visit as it was so good.

Lovely chicken pakora. Best I’ve had in a long time, chips were fresh and cooked just rite. Find it hard to find decent chips from a take away nowadays. Will order again.

I needed a pick me up after just getting out of hospital! So my friends took me here for an evening meal which was superb, the young girl that served us is an excellent worker and with a great sense of humour. All round fantastic restaurant with excellent food & staff. I will be back for sure.

Amazing dinner & outstanding service with so many great suggestions to help us decide what to choose. So glad we ordered from the street food menu instead of pakora as the Momos were delicious! A taste sensation, so light but packed full of flavour. Everything we ordered was delicious but so happy we ventured away from the traditional order, it was worth it. Will be back again soon

Best food to have in and around Glasgow. I visited Glasgow for a month and whenever I craved to have something Indian I ended up visiting here. Ambiance is good and comfortable. Their service was quick and staff(Bharti) was courteous. The owner was welcoming as well. Each and every dish was good but tandoori momos and malai soya chaap in starters and dal makhani, mix veg and rogan josh in main course was delicious. Overall 10/10 considering the variety, taste, service and prices.

Never disappoints. Food amazing and staff brilliant. Our favourite restaurant by far. Our Birmingham visitors loved it…even without the Drumsticks! 😂

They have a deal meal on Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. The food was OK not special. We had two courses: saag paneer and LaaI Mass for the main and chicken Chaat and honey chilli potato for starter. I liked the honey chilli potato the most. Garlic naan was very greasy. However, it was accessible and had a great ramp inside and the owner was welcoming and friendly. There are parking spaces on the street not an allocated parking available.

I've not had the pleasure of dinning in their restaurant as it's always been taken aways, both home delivery or collection. I was very pleased they helped me out after I arrived a little after their closing time and they still agreed to cook me a meal for takeaway. Their food is superlative. Every dish is distinctive. A world class restaurant.

Decided to come down for a last minute meal and drinks with friends last night. So glad we did. It was the best meal out we’ve had in a while, the staff were lovely, so attentive to us and the street food was amazing especially the honey chilli potatoes. The recommended jamieson liquor coffee was lovely. Will definitely be back soon to try the new lunch menu it looks great.

I recently enjoyed a takeaway from Green Gate Restaurant, featuring momo, garlic naan, chicken curry, and biryani. The quality of the food was impressive, even after bringing it home. I’d also like to commend Bharti, who was incredibly nice and friendly, making the whole experience even better. I recently ordered a takeaway from Green Gate Restaurant, including momo, garlic naan, chicken curry, and biryani. Each dish was an absolute delight! I do not normally leave reviews but the experience was so substandard that it deserves one. We arrived at 6:15pm and nobody came to ask for drinks or give menus. Once we asked, they came. We ordered a beer and 2 poppadoms. Soon after the girl came with 2 beers. We sent one back. Nobody came for orders, we asked repeatedly to order. At 6:45 we finally ordered. Please note we were with 2 children and my 3yo son was not super easy to keep still for that long. We ordered momos, asking specifically if the chicken momos were not-spicy, we explained we wanted them for the children. The waitress said yes they were mild and came indian style, at which point my husband (who is INDIAN from Delhi) said “ah ok with chutney on the side” and she said yes. We ordered veg pakora as well as a starter, a paneer paratha for the children (again we asked non-spicy) and raan for 2 (leg of lamb). My daughter, who was bored and moving around the table, by mistake dropped my husband’s beer on the floor (glass was half full). We called for the waiter to clean and they came 10 min later with some small napkins to clean the beer. What about health and safety…? My husband had to ask for another small beer, no one checkef if he wanted more. At about 7:15pm, ONE hour since we arrived, we got the pakore, which were decent, average-level mind you. Soon after arrived the momos, and they were super spicy inside. My daughter was very disappointed and my son was so hungry he was asking for roti repeatedly. I kept telling him it was coming…! Then a woman who I think was the manager came and offered my son some lollipops, just like that, without even checking with me if it’s ok. I refused. I felt like saying do not bring candies, bring his dinner! She offered to bring chips although I wasn’t happy about it. So my husband went to the waitress and asked not to have the chips but a naan perhaps, since the boy is asking for roti every 2 seconds. Guess what comes 5 minutes later? Chips. Tasteless as well. But the children are so hungry they eat even that. I am fuming at this point. I know if they eat chips they won’t eat the food we actually ordered for them, and sorry if I want a decent dinner for my kids, not chips! Anyways at about 7:30pm paratha came. My daughter at least tried a slice, it was not (too) spicy but the quality was bad. They didn’t use fresh paneer (it was processed), we know because WE do use fresh. She didn’t really like it, also because it was a bit spicy and it was nothing compared to the parathe you actually get in India (yes, been there many times). Anyway at this point we are hopeless and just waiting for the 35£-lamb we ordered for us. At 7:45pm, a shocking hour and half after we entered the room, our lamb comes. The kids attached the naan and we tried the lamb, although we could tell by looking at it that it was not great. The gravy was watery and tasteless, really bland, zero chilly actually, and so full of coriander I could not stand it. I love lamb but the taste of that was pretty disgusting. The rice that came with it (which was not explained in the menu) was so so so full of cloves you could smell it before you even taste it. This was meant to be their USP (unique selling proposition). We couldn’t wait to leave. The manager came after we paid and apologized for the momos… she said to me that they are like that actually… which is a lie, in India they are very bland and the spicy part is the chutney. That is how they are. Maybe they can fool people who do not know anything about indian food, but for us it was appaling. Disgraceful service, unbelievably slow (they claim to be very busy, sorry guys there were like 5/6 tables in use!) and then the level and quality of food was shocking. Do not go there if you want to have a real Indian experience. It is even more disappointing considering the staff is indeed indian. There were not even napkins at the table, which is beyond words considering that Indian food is mostly eaten by hands. Maybe they should be the take away you actually are and do not pretend to be what you are not.

We had a bad experience with this restaurant a few weeks ago, due to a long wait for a delivery. Upon giving a review we we're contacted by the restaurant to express their apologies and we're offered a two course meal for 2 complimentary. We have used the restaurant both for sit in and takeaway for years as we really enjoy their food. We were really happy how the restaurant responded to our bad experience. We've since been back and ordered takeaway and both times we've had great experiences

Terrible meal! Service adequate! Atmosphere - very noisy and unpleasant. Lamb chop curry was swamped in a loose description for a curry and there was no tenderness in the chops at all. Very tough. Mixed seafood curry - lacked any credible flavour. Cannot recall leaving so much of a meal. Will not be back.
