The butter chicken had absolutely no flavour at all, I’ve never had one so bad. The garlic lamb with mushroom was so salty it was inedible and the whole thing went in the bin. The mixed pakora was okay, but only 9 pieces of pakora wasn’t really worth the money. The best bit of the whole order was the peshwari naan, but spending over £30 just to only have a bread worth £4 as the only enjoyable part isn’t acceptable. I don’t think I’ll be ordering from here again.

Visited the restaurant last night with two friends who are up here on holiday. Menu was unusual and varied, chose a starter & a main I hadn’t eaten before. Both were delicious ( potato patties, mutton in flavoured sauce). But the highlight of the evening was, after a member of our party had mentioned he really liked Dosa (not on the menu) the owner got his chef to make him one especially!! Three of us had never had one before, a special treat, it was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal & the atmosphere. We will be back 😊

Lovely chicken pakora. Best I’ve had in a long time, chips were fresh and cooked just rite. Find it hard to find decent chips from a take away nowadays. Will order again.

I needed a pick me up after just getting out of hospital! So my friends took me here for an evening meal which was superb, the young girl that served us is an excellent worker and with a great sense of humour. All round fantastic restaurant with excellent food & staff. I will be back for sure.

Best food to have in and around Glasgow. I visited Glasgow for a month and whenever I craved to have something Indian I ended up visiting here. Ambiance is good and comfortable. Their service was quick and staff(Bharti) was courteous. The owner was welcoming as well. Each and every dish was good but tandoori momos and malai soya chaap in starters and dal makhani, mix veg and rogan josh in main course was delicious. Overall 10/10 considering the variety, taste, service and prices.

Amazing dinner & outstanding service with so many great suggestions to help us decide what to choose. So glad we ordered from the street food menu instead of pakora as the Momos were delicious! A taste sensation, so light but packed full of flavour. Everything we ordered was delicious but so happy we ventured away from the traditional order, it was worth it. Will be back again soon

They have a deal meal on Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. The food was OK not special. We had two courses: saag paneer and LaaI Mass for the main and chicken Chaat and honey chilli potato for starter. I liked the honey chilli potato the most. Garlic naan was very greasy. However, it was accessible and had a great ramp inside and the owner was welcoming and friendly. There are parking spaces on the street not an allocated parking available.

I've not had the pleasure of dinning in their restaurant as it's always been taken aways, both home delivery or collection. I was very pleased they helped me out after I arrived a little after their closing time and they still agreed to cook me a meal for takeaway. Their food is superlative. Every dish is distinctive. A world class restaurant.

Decided to come down for a last minute meal and drinks with friends last night. So glad we did. It was the best meal out we’ve had in a while, the staff were lovely, so attentive to us and the street food was amazing especially the honey chilli potatoes. The recommended jamieson liquor coffee was lovely. Will definitely be back soon to try the new lunch menu it looks great.

I recently enjoyed a takeaway from Green Gate Restaurant, featuring momo, garlic naan, chicken curry, and biryani. Each dish was exceptional—the momo were deliciously tender, the garlic naan was wonderfully soft, the chicken curry was flavorful and hearty, and the biryani was perfectly spiced. The quality of the food was impressive, even after bringing it home. I’d also like to commend Bharti, who was incredibly nice and friendly, making the whole experience even better. Many thanks to the team, including Tarun, for their excellent service. Green Gate is now my go-to for a delightful and satisfying takeaway.

I recently ordered a takeaway from Green Gate Restaurant, including momo, garlic naan, chicken curry, and biryani. Each dish was an absolute delight! We had a bad experience with this restaurant a few weeks ago, due to a long wait for a delivery. Upon giving a review we we're contacted by the restaurant to express their apologies and we're offered a two course meal for 2 complimentary. We have used the restaurant both for sit in and takeaway for years as we really enjoy their food. We were really happy how the restaurant responded to our bad experience. We've since been back and ordered takeaway and both times we've had great experiences

I do not normally leave reviews but the experience was so substandard that it deserves one. We arrived at 6:15pm and nobody came to ask for drinks or give menus. Once we asked, they came. We ordered a beer and 2 poppadoms. Soon after the girl came with 2 beers. We sent one back. Nobody came for orders, we asked repeatedly to order. At 6:45 we finally ordered. Please note we were with 2 children and my 3yo son was not super easy to keep still for that long. We ordered momos, asking specifically if the chicken momos were not-spicy, we explained we wanted them for the children. The waitress said yes they were mild and came indian style, at which point my husband (who is INDIAN from Delhi) said “ah ok with chutney on the side” and she said yes. We ordered veg pakora as well as a starter, a paneer paratha for the children (again we asked non-spicy) and raan for 2 (leg of lamb). My daughter, who was bored and moving around the table, by mistake dropped my husband’s beer on the floor (glass was half full). We called for the waiter to clean and they came 10 min later with some small napkins to clean the beer. What about health and safety…? My husband had to ask for another small beer, no one checkef if he wanted more. At about 7:15pm, ONE hour since we arrived, we got the pakore, which were decent, average-level mind you. Soon after arrived the momos, and they were super spicy inside. My daughter was very disappointed and my son was so hungry he was asking for roti repeatedly. I kept telling him it was coming…! Then a woman who I think was the manager came and offered my son some lollipops, just like that, without even checking with me if it’s ok. I refused. I felt like saying do not bring candies, bring his dinner! She offered to bring chips although I wasn’t happy about it. So my husband went to the waitress and asked not to have the chips but a naan perhaps, since the boy is asking for roti every 2 seconds. Guess what comes 5 minutes later? Chips. Tasteless as well. But the children are so hungry they eat even that. I am fuming at this point. I know if they eat chips they won’t eat the food we actually ordered for them, and sorry if I want a decent dinner for my kids, not chips! Anyways at about 7:30pm paratha came. My daughter at least tried a slice, it was not (too) spicy but the quality was bad. They didn’t use fresh paneer (it was processed), we know because WE do use fresh. She didn’t really like it, also because it was a bit spicy and it was nothing compared to the parathe you actually get in India (yes, been there many times). Anyway at this point we are hopeless and just waiting for the 35£-lamb we ordered for us. At 7:45pm, a shocking hour and half after we entered the room, our lamb comes. The kids attached the naan and we tried the lamb, although we could tell by looking at it that it was not great. The gravy was watery and tasteless, really bland, zero chilly actually, and so full of coriander I could not stand it. I love lamb but the taste of that was pretty disgusting. The rice that came with it (which was not explained in the menu) was so so so full of cloves you could smell it before you even taste it. This was meant to be their USP (unique selling proposition). We couldn’t wait to leave. The manager came after we paid and apologized for the momos… she said to me that they are like that actually… which is a lie, in India they are very bland and the spicy part is the chutney. That is how they are. Maybe they can fool people who do not know anything about indian food, but for us it was appaling. Disgraceful service, unbelievably slow (they claim to be very busy, sorry guys there were like 5/6 tables in use!) and then the level and quality of food was shocking. Do not go there if you want to have a real Indian experience. It is even more disappointing considering the staff is indeed indian. There were not even napkins at the table, which is beyond words considering that Indian food is mostly eaten by hands. Maybe they should be the take away you actually are and do not pretend to be what you are not.

Terrible meal! Service adequate! Atmosphere - very noisy and unpleasant. Lamb chop curry was swamped in a loose description for a curry and there was no tenderness in the chops at all. Very tough. Mixed seafood curry - lacked any credible flavour. Cannot recall leaving so much of a meal. Will not be back.

Recently I ordered food from Green Gates Renfrew for my son's birthday party. The quality of food for both veg and non-veg was amazing and liked by all my guests. Starters, main courses, desserts all come at a reasonable price. Behavior of the manager Tarun and his staffs are commendable. If you are looking for good quality Indian food at a reasonable price in Glasgow, you know where to go.

A stroke of luck led us to this absolute gem on a Sunday night. We stumbled upon a culinary goldmine on banks of the Clyde. Every dish was a flavor-packed masterpiece, and the generous portions were a delightful surprise. The menu catered beautifully to both meat-lovers and plant-based eaters, with a stunning array of vegan and vegetarian options. The sophisticated ambiance and impeccable service completed the perfect dining experience. This place has officially earned a permanent spot on our go-to list. Ten out of ten, without a doubt.

Decided to give green gates a try again. Good has always been good but the environment had been chilly before. However eventually waiter came for drinks / food order. Seems to be very short staffed especially as evening went on. Food was good however we left right after dinner as too difficult to get attention to put an order in for drinks. Sharpen up the floor service and it may be onto something..

Good was awful, chicken dry, burnt naan’s, no pakora sauce, bendy poppadoms, the butter chicken sauce I could have made better myself was tangy and sweet with dried herbs in? driver wanted additional money for garlic naan that they didn’t give us? Never again

Another great night. Mix pakora and honey & chilli potatoes (amazing). Butter chicken and peshawari naan & fish kerala curry (scrumptious). Great chats with all the friendly staff who look after everything and very attentive. Lovely surroundings and atmosphere. No surprise it's our favourite, and regular, place.

Green Gates is without doubt the best Indian food restaurant in Renfrewshire. I ordered the mixed grill with a nan and a chicken chasni. The food is the highest quality with a depth of flavour you only get by cooking to order with spices that taste freshly ground. The service is great too. I can't recommend highly enough.

Delivery time was pushed back which was disappointing and mushroom rice sent instead of fried which really put me off my meal. Chicken in the curry’s was lovely and nice sauces and veg pakora lovely but felt disappointed with the mushroom rice and portion of chicken tikka for the price.

First time ordering as we had heard good things. Was not bad but not great, the nann had a sticky coating and was good as were the honey chilli potatoes- essentially shop bought potato wedges but served in a sauce with veg. The mains were a bit meh, not much taste in the korma which was a bit thin and veg was again similar to shop bought frozen veg. Chicken bhuna was much better. Rice was basic hoose rice standard, could see other options other than boiled but may have missed that.

Beautiful surroundings , gorgeous food, excellent service and surprisingly affordable. Updated today 30/6 I attended today for a carry out and decided to stay for a sit down meal .. The staff as always were first class and maybe just a tad too attentive to serve me. The complimentry soup, was warm, spicy and delicious . I have to say drinking cold water drink metal goblets does have a wonderful medieval feel to the precedings After the great start I was presented with a bland vegetable Pakora . I have to admit it wasn't the tasty or enjoyable..in fact it was bland and disappointing. I was then served a Chicken Tikka Masala which was tasty and creamy however the chicken did not appear to be Tikka , it tasted more of a bland chicken when I tried some away from the rich sauce . The mushroom rice was surprisingly enjoyable however I did not appreciate the lack of fresh mushroom in the rice accompany priced at over £4. Overall , I wish I'd drove over to Paisley to enjoy my usual curry , however, I'd read that Green Gates had improved for carry outs and the restaurant. I'm not convinced tonight .. lovely venue, fantastic serving staff , disappointed by the food ..if I'm being honest , it was average at best Is there better Indian food in Renfrewshire, yes, better in Renfrew , yes also Will I return , not for a long time until ratings increase dramatically

coming from the west end if Glasgow to renfrew we haven't been able to find a good Indian thst you can compare to the likes of Mother India etc. until now. the food was all obviously fresh including the spiced onions - the veg pakora was unbelievable. so happy this place has arrived and will be our new favourite!!! thanks!

The best Indian Restaurant myself & my husband have had...customer service is exceptional...food is exceptional....prices are very reasonable...we have dined in and had takeaway several times and it's all been AMAZING everytime....if I could give them 10 stars then I would. I would highly recommend trying this Restaurant . We have booked I again for Father's Day 😋

A verbal agreement at the door with one of the members of staff advising they will “put a free curry on the house” and about a month later. (Today) they done so. Sublime customer service. Dined here recently with my wife. Food was gorgeous. Had pickle tray, two starters (veg pakora and spicy fish) and two mains (chicken and a lamb dish) along with chapati and some drinks. Ended up taking some leftovers home. The restaurant was reasonably quiet on our visit, probably the time of the week no doubt. Service was great, staff were very tentative. Would highly recommend this place and we'll be back.

I go every week to Green Gates service is great food delicious people who here complain about the voices of kids playing be ashamed they should be ashamed because these are only children they can not tie to a chair or they can not seal their mouths these people do not have childrens or do not like children and I hope that they do not have children because it would be a pity for me to have such parents Shame on you so what that the children run and it is loud it's best if you order food and eat at home you will be Have peace and quiet because every restaurant I was was loud and children playing and somehow I do not complain again I am there every week food best quality and people who working there are more than nice look after you workers look after you like after own family Don't listen to the nonsense that you wait 3 hours or some for food and if it says good food and the restaurant is busy... then you can see if there is a full hall... then the chef won't make food immediately for you because he has to feed others at McDonald's you can quickly get Finger up

Ordered chicken tikka masala, We like mild flavour, but this was tasteless. It did not even look like or smell like chicken tikka masala should. it looked awful. Would not order from this restaurant again.

Bought chicken curry and garlic nan and it was so tasty.. highly recommended to all my indian and international friends must try this place you will get taste same of high quality indian curries and breads/nans mine favourite is garlic nan chicken curry and butter chicken

Half an hour late, stated it was “delivered” but still 26 mins since that notification no answer from driver. Called restaurant and I’ve came across prison wardens more apologetic than the lady who answered the phone “he’s 7 mins away sorry for the delay” in the bluntest voice known to man.

I highly recommend this restaurant, the food was amazing and the service was fantastic. Specially butter chicken and fried rice.

We have used Greengates for years, we have sat in and used it as a takeaway. Sadly our recent experience has put us off for good, multiple hairs found in our pakora and in our curries. Ultimately the food went in the bin and ended up cooking our dinner instead. Poor hygiene is not acceptable from a restaurant.

Haven’t order here since a terrible experience a couple of years ago. Glad to have tried it again. Food was phenomenal. So good.
