Green Dragon in Croydon

Today I went to the green dragon pub for my lunch , & I'm a regular guest, unfortunately, may dwindle. They had unforeseen circumstances & issues that made the lunch delayed, which makes me really concerned, as I only have an hour. By the time it came I only had less then half an hour to eat my lunch, which is unhealthy, as people can suffer incongestion by eating quickly so they don't get late back to work again, not good enough. I had to chase it up, twice ,& the bar people who serves our foods/ hot drinks expecially the short bobbed hair bar lady got bulshy, all just because I got stressed cause of waiting too long, unnecessary for my lunch, who wouldn't be. That green dragon pub is supposed to be my regular place for my lunchtime from work, & now, I'm beginning to feel like a burden, always complaining about food being served late, when it's no fault of ours. Unfortunately for the green dragon pub, I'm gonna take a long break from it, till the issue sorts itself out. I've always made welcomed, but, sadly, not anymore for a while. GOODBYE GREEN DRAGON PUB!!! 😡😡😡😡😡

A great pub with a fantastic range of ales on draught. I had Old Ale from the Long Man brewery and it was in good condition. I visited as part of a crawl so only had the one. Must go back to spend a bit more time there, and sample some more. Didn't eat there so I can't comment on the food.

Had a beautiful stone baked vegetarian pizza which was delicious. My friends had two variations of burgers, which they assured me were delicious. Super friendly and helpful staff

A busy town centre pub. Lots of choice of beers, plenty of seating and very popular.

Green Dragon pub is excellent. Great service from the bar staff. The pub feels welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. And the excellent beer variety and quality really sets it apart. As well as the normal pints you're likely to find in other pubs they also have a good selection of real ales usually with a couple of porter and bitters in the choice and behind the bar on back wall they have a further selection of small batch beer and cider. Really is a super pub.

Constantly rotating range of ales and crafts. The staff are friendly and helpful, and CAMRA discount too.... what's not to like?

Great ambience and good vibe. They also have a pool table inside. Though food needs to be a little better as it wasn’t worth the price. Rest everything was good. Good staff and clean underground washrooms.

Very good pub in a former bank about ten minutes walk from East Croydon station. Six cask beers on handpump when I visited including a porter. The pub also had half a dozen ciders and perrys available served straight from BiBs. The upstairs function room is available for hire and hosts weekly events such as quizzes.

Had to chase food twice and it took 28 minutes for two burgers to arrive. No one else being served food anywhere in sight. Excuse was only one cook. Was charged an extra burger fee for their triple burger which had only 3 burgers per description. Veggie burger acceptable but rolls were not very fresh. Won't be visiting again.

I recently visited The Green Dragon in Croydon and had an absolutely delightful experience. The fish and chips were simply outstanding – the fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the chips were golden and delicious. The Hawaiian pizza was another highlight, with a perfect balance of sweet pineapple and savory ham, all on a wonderfully baked crust. However, the chicken wings could use a bit more work. They were decent, but lacked the flavor punch that would make them truly memorable. Despite this minor hiccup, everything else was amazing. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, The Green Dragon is a fantastic spot for a meal, and I highly recommend trying their fish and chips and Hawaiian pizza. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

A very cute and modern pub, the staff was amazing and accommodating with my disabled father in law. Food was great. Recommend.

Good pub in London with very good range of unique drinks including porters and stouts. Also a pool table. Atmosphere always very chill.

Its a nice venue but we waited over an hour for our food and when it did eventually arrive it was cold Pizza had way too much bbq sauce, not somewhere i would eat again

Decided to try their bottomless brunch offering as on the face of it, there was a great selection of food and drinks for the £33 price tag. I had the pepperoni pizza, which was nice with a selection of drinks across the two hour time slot. The posh totty spritz was delicious, bellini was ok, but the pornstar martini was definitely not traditional. Tasted more like a dodgy pre-mix and it had a slice of orange in it!!! Staff whilst very friendly, provided a disappointingly slow service so overall I'm giving this an average rating. I might be willing to give it another chance.....

I used to be a regular before I went on a Saturday eve with a group of friends from 8pm until closing time when finishing my last drink maybe 10mn before midnight I walked to the toilets when a member of the staff stood in front of me saying they were closing and that I'd need to leave. I politely explained I lived far (Kenley) and that I just needed 2 minutes to go to the bathroom as I had been there for a while but he didn't allow me to and started to be very rude to me. I could have gone to the toilets twice in the time we spent "arguing". Absolutely shocking customer service.

Great food - I had the Bollywood Burger followed by the Cherry Compote Cookie Dough. Great beer, friendly staff, good music and good music contributed to a great atmosphere. Excellent value for money, plus a pool table to boot! Highly recommend!

I had a delicious burger for lunch and tried 5 different craft ales. Friendly and helpful staff, great selection of beers, tasty food and I got a discount because I'm a Camra member. Will definitely visit again.

Best pub in the area in my opinion

Atmosphere was great as went for my mates event held in there for the 2nd time. As for my food I had to wait nearly an hour for my food in which I had to a bartender where my food was. Yes the plate was hot cause it was most then likely sitting on pass under the light however some of the platter was either luke warm or cold. I wouldn't be able to send it back to the kitchen as it was closed by the we actually received our food. Drinks are over priced as well. With the app you can do on the phone maybe think about doing your actual menu on it instead of just small things like chips, crisps, and nuts as it would save time for the bartenders behind the bar and they can concentrate on serving people drinks until the kitchen call them to collect the food.

A bit on the expensive side but more than makes up for this with a premium experience with a wide selection of food and drink to meetvmost tastes. Even better, you can reserve tables in advance. Worth checking this joint out 👍

We reserved the upstairs space for a birthday party and we were SO happy with it. Your own space, with bar staff, and just for a minimum spend. We have recommended already to others and will absolutely be using this space again for other functions. Staff all friendly and helpful, really great.

I enjoyed my visits to The Green Dragon Pub in Croydon before the Pandemic even happened four years ago now when I was 34 back in 2020! I haven't stepped inside the Green Dragon Croydon after the Pandemic, but I would love to visit it someday!

Brilliant selection of drinks, friendly staff, tasty food options and great atmosphere. Couldn't ask for more tbh! Service was great and we even got to enjoy a game of pool. Will be back!

The atmosphere is lovely here with an upstairs area you can book and a downstairs area set up good for large groups aswell as smaller. Mainly people aged 25-40 here. I paid £4 for a juice which was tasty but way too much....

Been a few times for beers,staff know their stuff and friendly. Decent cask offer, especially on Thursdays.

Came in for a leaving do. Ordered fish and chips. Portion small for the price but loved the chips - just wish there were more. Staff friendly.

I love the dirty chai porter they currently have on so have visited a few times over the last 2 weeks. On one occasion we had lunch as well. The onion bhaji burger was delicious. I loved the cookie dough dessert too and this was good value for money.

The staff are happy energetic never wait for service I believe best bar in Croydon safe nice and cool. Good music and food plus pool table great place to relax to watch sport.

Attended on Monday January evening so may not have seen the pub in all it's glory however there were several people there and the energy was nice. Staff friendly and a large option of Ales and Larger on tap. Good quite spot for a catch up with friends

Pub is nice with a good selection of beers and craft ales. Menu is strange, disjointed and not particularly good. Go for drinks then go elsewhere for food.

Our Morris side enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Green Dragon tonight for our Yuletide celebrations.The Green Dragon has a warm & welcoming atmosphere & the tables were set beautifully 🎄 The food was wonderful. Everyone cleared their plates. There is a great choice of beers and cider which led to very happy Morris Dancers! Great service as per usual. Told mum how lovely and attentive the staff were and she wasn’t disappointed. I stupidly ordered the wrong thing and the staff were very helpful. Especially Mary and Shannon!

Great craft beer selection and very reasonably priced too

One of my favourite places to drink in Croydon - great bar selection with lots of cool ales on rotation, so there's new stuff to try whenever I visit. The service is good and those behind the bar seems to know their stuff about the drinks when I do ask about them. I've not been here for food so far, but I like that there is a pool table and even a bookshelf to check out. I should absolutely check it out for lunch some time and check out the board games or something - yeah, great place, will return soon!

Came for a Christmas party last week. Must say, the food was really nice, and the service was attentive.

Booked the bottomless brunch and was so pleasantly surprised by how great this pub is. Didn’t feel like we were in Croydon at all! The lovely Lucy served us and ensured that our brunch really was bottomless. Excellent service, good atmosphere and great surroundings. Would highly recommend and was really good value. Will definitely be back!

Great pub! Pizzas were scrummy, I wasn't even that hungry but was so nice I couldn't stop munching. Huge range on tap from cask, craft beers and ciders. Staff were lovely and helpful and there was a really nice atmosphere in general.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere. Pool table. Unusual basement toilets. Probably not a place for the less physically able. Otherwise excellent. There is also a food menu.

It's a lovely pub, beers are always good. There can be abit of a wait sometimes.

Management need to up their game, staff and drinks are great but having one chef is ridiculous, ordered food via the app and waiting one hour for chips and cancelled the order via the bar because it’s too long. How can management allow one chef in the kitchen on a busy day? Sort it out. No fault of the staff though but seriously one chef?

Decent pub with good beer/ selection.Did not try ,but cocktails looked pricey.Only had a couple of drinks there, not sure pool table lends anything to the pub.

Coke and normal cider are okay, but do NOT drink the lilley's chocolate cider, I don't know if it was the cider itself or if it had gone bad but it will immediately tried to escape my stomach and caused me great illness, from a single pint. If you're going to go here avoid the special ciders and just stick with what's on the tap

Always enjoy going to the Dragon, and it never fails to impress. The beer range is outstanding, and always impeccably kept. A CAMRA discount is available, as well. Service is always friendly and never flustered, even at the busiest of times. Lucy, Tom and Mary were on duty today and they were all excellent. The food is top notch in its category; this isn’t a gastropub, so don’t expect Michelin-starred cuisine. It’s just good quality, affordable and delicious pub classics: burgers, pizza, etc. I had the karaage chicken burger today and it combined a crunchy coating with beautifully tender chicken, although the base of the bun did disintegrate. If a soft bun is the only criticism of a pub, you know that you’re in a quality place. Full marks to Sue and her team. I’ll have to get to the Dragon more often.

The green dragon has come a long way since the hobbits left the shire for Mordor, still has wooden floors. You may need Google maps to find the downstairs restrooms. Food was excellent, nice variety of local ales and lagers as well as macros.

Comedy was good overall especially for the price.

Excellent pub! What a fun choice of beers and highly recommend trying the chocolate cake stout and warped reverb beer! Food was very nice, served quick. Barman very helpful. 5 stars all the way!

Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Only let down was the super smelly security, maybe he should have been the one stood outside... can't quiet understand how he couldn't smell himself but love the pub

First time back at the Green Dragon for a couple of years. Nice atmosphere as always and good beer. Like that they had the football on silent so those that wanted to watch it could but without imposing on everyone. The food was top notch. I went for the Hunters Chicken and you could tell it had been cooked freshly, the chicken in particular was very succulent.

Quality pub, not too expensive for a pint.
