Greek Olive in Swindon

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The staff was very welcoming, and the food was good. I recommend this restaurant for its food and great service.

First time we have been to this restaurant, our friends raved about it so we booked and went for dinner. This is an authentic family run restaurant, the people are amazing and so welcoming. It felt like walking into a restaurant in the heart of any Greek city/town/village. The food was so tasty, I had lamb in a red wine sauce, OMGosh it melted in my mouth. My hubby decided on the mixed grill - first time in our 40 year marriage where a meal size has beaten him! He said it was so tasty. If you are considering booking, book asap as it is very popular, parking is a bit of a fiddle, however leave 5 mins early so you can get parked. Only one 'tiny' criticism is that the alcohol is rather dear, however with food that good it didn't upset me that much. Absolutely one of the best places we've been too. What are you waiting for then, go book it you'll be in for a treat.

Positives: Lovely people and service, we couldn’t ask for more from the staff. Very friendly and enough staff that you weren’t waiting very long to grab somebody’s attention. This place has a lovely atmosphere and feels very Greek e.g casual, good for families. Food is very authentic, we love Kefalonia and holiday there and the food is indistinguishable from what we’d have on holiday. Prices are reasonable Negatives: The restaurant needs refurbishment. We’ve visited 3 times over the last 10 years and I’m afraid it’s looking shabby in places now. We were placed by the corridor to the toilets / outside and there was wallpaper hanging off (not a little bit, a lot). Behind us where something used to be mounted were 4 damaged hols in the wall where the fan used to be and must’ve dropped off at some point and there were extension cables not hidden placed in view at head height. Just things you’d not expect to be looking at whilst eating in a restaurant. With a bit of effort all this could be sorted easily. Overall: Still one of our favourite restaurants because the people and food is excellent but better now, sorry just being completely honest. It was packed on a Thursday evening and rightly deserves its place as one of the best casual eateries in Swindon. Hopefully next time we visit the place has been redecorated and tidied up, it would be 5 star then.

Good Kleftiko and some nice Tsipouro too. This is a small family run place and the food was really good and the service nice, you should book a table as the place was quite busy when we arrived. This is always a good sign! The portions are generous and the lamb was falling off the bone. I wished i could have fitted in dessert. Enjoyed the greek coffee. Just be warned those are not mints at the end they are aniseed flavour sweets!

I booked this restaurant for my birthday and brought my parents to share with them great food and a great atmosphere! We had the best evening with my children also and everyone had a great time! The staff are wonderful and are by far the best in Swindon! They made sure we had a wonderful time. Thank you xx

We visited only a few weeks ago and just had to return just so I could have the Tomahawk pork chop. We all absolutely loved our food all 5 of us which included salmon.sea bass, moussaka. Chicken bekri meze and of course the Tomahawk from the specials menu. Great array of accompaniments with each meal and all very large portions. Nice house wine and all at a good price. Absolutely delicious greek food, with home style cooking. The portions were very generous so we didn't need dessert afterwards! We received very attentive service whilst here too and the complimentary limomcello at the end was a lovely touch. We will be back!

It’s been ages since me and my family used to visit here regularly…. OUR MISTAKE! . A lovely welcome followed quickly by a nice bottle of wine and some beers all at reasonable prices. The choice of food for our group was prawns saganaki chicken souvlaki and pork belly from the specials menu along with mountains of chips rice salad and pita bread and dips and sauces. All food arrived piping hot and well cooked generally with some nice charring on the pork to add tho the flavour. As usual the service was exceptional all cooked and served by the lovely Family that run the place. The Greek Olive is very authentic and is just like visiting some of the restaurants we visit in KOS. We certainly won’t be leaving it as long to return. Many thanks to you all at the Greek Olive.

Excellent authentic Greek restaurant. Popular with local and Greek people. Well cooked food. Good portions. Staff are welcoming and helpful. Very accommodating for allergies: not just gluten-free. I had Tiropitakia as a starter and Lamb kleftiko. Both were well cooked with great flavours.

The food here is consistently good. As is the service. For those who know what I mean when I say there are only a few ‘good’ restaurant choices in town, this definitely is one of them. A great experience every single time.

My absolute favourite place to eat. Amazing Greek food and hospitality. Greeted like an old friend on arrival. We've eaten here since it opened and had many family celebrations. The food is consistently excellent. I'm always surprised when I speak to friends who are yet to try here.

Our grown up son’s favourite restaurant was all what he described and more. Amazing Greek food and hospitality. Mixed grill, chicken souvlaki and a Greek burger was all amazing. I had the garlic mushrooms for starters which were the best I’ve ever had. They gave us a desert each on the house which was so good too. After hearing great reviews about this restaurant from friends, I booked a table to give it a try. I was not disappointed. From the minute we walked in, there was a really nice friendly atmosphere and we were attended to immediately by the staff who really care about the business and customers. Onto the menu, there was plenty to choose from and we started with the halloumi and Greek meatballs with mozzarella. These were both cooked excellently and was a great start to the meal. We both then ordered the lamb shank and it was easily the best lamb shank dish I have ever eaten. There was so much flavour coming from the dish and this was accompanied by a choice of 2 sides which really bolstered the meal. The portions were fantastic and you walk out of the restaurant so full! A complementary dessert on the house was the final cherry on top of this meal for me. I cannot recommend this place enough and it is really refreshing dining in a restaurant where all the staff are happy and passionate in their product. 5 stars!

Saturday night at Greek Olive was such a pleasure. The service was wonderful, food was excellent and plentiful. This is definitely a place I want to come back to. Honestly, we ate too much as everything was so nice you felt pained to leave it.

Wonderful food and fantastic customer service. We visited to celebrate our anniversary and were blown away by the exceptional attentive service, it really made our evening besides the wonderful food. The team had taken time to dress the table with hearts and confetti and a banner. Honestly can say the best place I have ever been. The food was just stunning and the service was even better! They put banners out, cake and even a free shot for a birthday celebration and we didn’t have to ask. Beautiful family business and needs the recognition it deserves. We had 2 males serve us who were so lovely and friendly. I didn’t catch their names but whoever was working evening of 5/10/2023 were lovely! Every the staff that weren’t serving us were incredibly lovely when we walked in and said goodbye. Could not recommend enough. We've just got home from yet another wonderful evening at The Greek Olive. It was my son's birthday and the lovely hosts made it so very special for him. We can't thank you enough for all your thoughtful touches. You really went above and beyond, thank you 💕. The food here is delicious, very reasonable and HUGE portions. You will struggle to decide what to choose from the menu because you will want everything. This restaurant has a wonderful family atmosphere and is run very efficiently. Staff are so helpful and welcoming. You will feel like you are on holiday (well, apart from the weather 🤣) Cannot recommend highly enough.

We went with our two daughter's families and 4 grandchildren. Very warm and friendly welcome. The food was great and we were spoilt for choice. Limited wine list but very good selection and value.
