Greedy Pig in Plymouth

Went here for a meal and was not disappointed. Portion sizes are huge but you can get a take out box from them. Staff were friendly and welcoming. They don't seem used to customers being helpful to. Toilets were upstairs and very clean. It was very quiet when we went but I hope to return there soon.

One of the tastiest burgers i have ever had! staff were friendly and the place itself had a very calm atmosphere. They even had a function room with a pool table that anyone could use. 100% recommend!

I was looking to eat, but after 8 p.m. when most pubs stop serving, so was glad to stumble on this little café bar that was still serving food. I ordered fish and chips and a pint of Devon Rock lager, which to my surprise cost only £8.00 together. It soon arrived, and the large portions were just what I needed. Fish on the bone, massive amount of chips, plus huge pots of mushy peas and tartare sauce. Looking around, I saw similar piled plates going to other eaters. I'd clearly lucked out in chancing my arm in this place.Now called The Pig (rather than Greedy Pig, which must have been an offputting name), it's a small, one-unit bar on the main Armada Way, between George St and Cornwall St. Just a few tables inside, including upstairs, but more undercover out on the walkway. It's an unpretentious operation, with a small bar counter at the inner end, some armchairs by the windows, and a silent TV screen on one side. Bar staff were a mixed bunch, but they got the job done.Good value, large portions--my (admittedly unsophisticated) criteria were met handsomely by The Pig.

We came for the breakfast and both opted for the pancakes with bacon. The milkshakes are of poor quality and came warm, and the pancakes were thin crepes instead of pancakes. Overall very disappointed.

Staff friendly with good service, ordered a house burger and chips, the Mrs had cheesy chips, both had a drink to come to a total of £13 so good value. Decent sized portions and the house burger was massive and delicious. Have been here a few times now including a couple of party's where upstairs was hired and have never had a issue with food or staff. Will be visiting again

Very angry and rude front of house staff..long waits for forgotten orders. More rudeness when asked how long for food (after 45 mins)...shouted at by girl on till...awful treatment decided to go next door .. world of difference...avoid ...

Qué fantástico restaurante / bar para detenerse en. Apareció cuando fue necesario una pinta fresca en una avo de sábado. Muy buen ambiente, el personal era muy agradable y educado. Nunca tuve comida, pero vi que algunos de los platos se servían y las hamburguesas parecían increíbles. ! Volveremos en nuestra próxima visita.

Nice food cheap prices and nice friendly service. Popular Cafe/bar/restaurant in the heart of plymouth attracts all people. There is a pool table upstairs if you want a game or some me time whilst yer kids play

Called in for breakfast on good Friday I had a cooked breakfast with a coffee it was a good size breakfast and tasty my other half had a breakfast wrap which was tasty with a lovely cup of tea

Ordered through Deliveroo, paid almost £7 for pancakes, maple syrup and bacon and this arrived. Pancakes were raw and not the American style that would usually go with bacon?

Having opened as the Greedy Pig the signage as altered to just ‘The Pig’. It sells booze and has pool. There seems little attention to customers and speed of service is hit and miss. It’s a city centre greasy spoon that now seems to attract groups of predominantly male customers. Not particularly pleasant. There are lots of other options around town.

We sat here to watch the Christmas Plymouth lights switch on. The ambiance was great but the drinks were awful. We ordered a gin and tonic ( no Plymouth gin) and the tonic was flat - a pint of lager which was flat- a coke which you guessed it was flat. We had to pay for trying them so I definitely wouldn’t recommend trying this place unless they have bottled water. By the way go to the toilet half an hour before you need to go as it’s a long treck up the stairs!

Can't complain about the breakfast was a standard cheap breakfast. But good job we weren't in a hurry and service was very slow and didn't appear to be many people seated.

Nearly £20 for 2 breakfasts and 2 coffees food is very basic not worth what we paid . As you. Can see from pictures they are experiencing a terrible butter shortage and so trying to save by only half buttering everything. It’s a very lazily made breakfast by someone who doesn’t want to be at work on a Sunday . Coffees were long ago drank and cold by the time the breakfasts were brought out 25 minutes after ordering. Seeing as it wasn’t busy and a lot of empty tables this kind of wait for microwave breakfast is unacceptable. Plymouth is definitely lacking a decent breakfast place or if there is one I haven’t found it yet!

First point I must make is the friendly welcome we received on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble. Menu was comprehensive. Everything was clean and well presented. Extremely good value for money. Food was generous in portion and well cooked. Absolutely brilliant

The location is ideal for the coach station being a few doors down Armada Way in the city centre. As for the food, the burgers are huge and certainly filling. I thought the prices were reasonable too. The staff were lovely & welcoming and I would definitely return.

I came here for brunch. The board outside advertising 2 for 1 in all cocktails was a good start but the menu with so much to choose from including all day breakfast worked for me. The decor was very street hip / quirky. I can imagine it being very popular with students or the sort of place your teenagers would want to go and hang out.

The building itself is in a nice part of the town center but that's about all the good points i can say about The Pig as i have experienced rude staff and long wait times (over 35mins) for both drinks and food, When asked about the cold food i was told by the owner thats it was not her problem and that i should have been listening better, I asked for it to be warmed up and it was put in a microwave for next to no time and refused a refund when it was still cold. Would not recommend at all to anyone and will not be returning.

Waited 25 minutes for one pancake to arrive. There were few customers. it wasn't busy. Staff did not apologise for wait or make chit chat. JUst a long wait

My husband and I visited over the weekend and were pleasantly surprised. It had a laid back vibe which was just what we were looking for. The menu was what you'd expect for a pub/bar and the portion sizes were great value for money. I can see other reviewers have mentioned poor service or things not made in house- personally if I pay £6 for a meal and a glass of wine I don't expect silver service. If you want a filling, tasty meal then I highly recommend. The servers who we dealt with were very polite.

Had a pulled pork sandwich that was served with bbq sauce, coleslaw and gherkins. The pork was nice but the bbq sauce was blatantly from a bottle, the coleslaw was the cheap stuff you get in supermarkets and the gherkins clearly were the type that come pre ordered in large containers.

Been meaning to go here for ages , finally made it today for breakfast .Very impressed service quick , food was hot and delicious.Will definitely return .😀

Horrendous experience with Greedy Pig the other day.

Some friends and I recently went to a themed night at the Greedy Pig and we had an excellent time & experience!

I had the most amazing party. The staff were very kind caring could not do enough and the food was excellent great value for money. I strongly recommend anyone thinking about a venue for any type of function/party to book the greedy pig. Thank you for making my birthday special.

Great food, really fresh and hot. friendly staff. Fabulous milkshakes for my boys who love going there. Would highly recommend.

Went with friends to Plymouth, had not booked anywhere for lunch, and came across the Greedy Pig, had a quick look at the menu on the door, and thought it was worth a try. Some tables were in use, however we managed to find a table.

I ordered a greedy breakfast and my partner the chicken stacker. We were the only people in there at 12pm but it soon filled up. Food arrived in 20min and was hot. Ive read previous reviews which said the food was too greasy. A fry up is greasy food, but i cant say mine was greasy at all. Partner enjoyed his chicken and said the chicken was good. Very good prices and lots too offer

Came back after nearly two years because a friend I met in the street coaxed me into a chat over a cuppa and a snack. It was too late before we both realised this was a poor choice. It took nearly twenty minutes before we were acknowledged in the street level room which had only three other people in it. The tea was awful. Greasy spoons offer better. The burgers were over cooked, the bread tasteless and dry, the accompaniments pretty well unidentifiable. The female who finally served us neither said hello or seemed remotely interested in being helpful. Cups, plates were just plonked down as if they were part of an irritating chore.

We needed to find somewhere to eat tea that was near the train station. The restaurant was empty, but looked ok, so we sat at a table looking at menus. There were staff milling around behind the counter. After 10 minutes no-one had acknowledged our presence so we picked up our stuff and left. Not impressed.

Went into this place sunday afternoon with 3 friends..ordered fish and chips 4 x..the place was empty but food still took 30 mins to arrive..what eventually turned up was the worst fish meal i have ever had anywhere..uncooked tasteless slop and raw chips completely inedible..avoid this place at all costs

Poorly cooked breakfast: egg hard and sausage anaemic and cold. hand wash and dryer not working in men's lavatory and staff uninterested when informed. One to avoid.

We very often visit this restaurant as we find the service is excellent. The staff are very friendly and efficient and the food is excellent value for money. We would highly recommend if you want good food with a smile to visit.

We were visiting the university and had left a camp site without eating. Finding no breakfast provision we started wandering towards the shopping area and found this gem of a place on a main street of shops - big sign outside announcing breakfast and other treats. We really like the feel of the place, nice and roomy and cross between industrial and quaint inside. We ordered 2 Greedy Pig breakfasts with tea and coffee - drinks arrived swiftly and they clearly cooked the breakfasts to order (never a bad thing) and these arrived in good time considering this. The food was great and I would certainly go back again -the cost of the food and therefore the value was exceptional. The staff were friendly and helpful. I couldn't imagine why the place was so quiet - this is certainly an undiscovered gem. If daughter goes to Plymouth Uni they will see more of me!

Eaten here a few times and never failed to have anything less than polite service with a smile. The food is of good to excellent quality and at a reasonable price especially for a city center. Today we had breakfast for the first time here and it was gorgeous (admittedly it was only beans on toast with cheese and a bacon sandwich) but it was well presented and the bacon was cooked very well. Previously we have had a few things off the menu including pulled pork and smothered chips which are gorgeous.

My daughter and I had lunch in the greedy pig yesterday after paying £13.00 for 2 gourmet sandwiches we sat down and waited and waited.... After half an hour had passed I went and asked if we had been forgotten (there was only one other couple I the cafe) no it was being played.

Was passing through Plymouth with my boyfriend and decided to stop somewhere to eat. We ordered some food but noticed that they did not have speciality coffees so brought some in from next door. The owner then confronts us about this from across the counter and cafe, calling us "rude" and "unethical"(!) We try to explain it's an innocent mistake, that we had ordered their food but wanted to try next door's coffee.

The family wanted a meaty lunch and I was surprised they offered a vegetarian breakfast so decided to try it. Ordered a takeaway which offered the full works, but it came minus the eggs and beans without any warning or apology. Soggy hash browns and 3 awful greasy sausages. Possibly the worst breakfast I've ever had!

We had a 9 day visit to Plymouth,we stayed at travelodge room only,we looked on the internet before we travelled,and The Greedy Pig came up,and we went to the Greedy Pig every morning for breakfast,it was that good,all the food is freshly cooked and it's not greasy like some cafe's you go to,its would highly recommend The Greedy Pig,Excellent food and very good value,when we visit Plymouth again we will be eating at the greedy pig again

I've been here a couple of times now and it really is quite hit and miss. I've experienced rude service and sometimes the food can be incredibly greasy and tasteless although other times the food has been really good. Always feels like you're being rushed out by the staff

I visited Plymouth for the weekend alone, ended up having lunch here on both days. Had the three cheese sandwich and the mushroom burger!! I really enjoyed both and the service was Great!!! Young blond waitress on Saturday was obviously in training but we all have to start somewhere! Keep up the good work and keep feeding us greedy pigs.

I have Coeliac disease so it is very important that I do not consume gluten. I asked the lady serving if any of the menu was gluten free she answered no. I then asked if the omelette had any ingredients that include gluten she replied it's eggs. I then asked what I could have in the omelette as the menu is not clear how many fillings you can choose to be told it's in the menu. She was extremely short and abrupt throughout. Not the way to be treating customers if you want them to return.

Popped in for lunch while doing some shopping in the centre. I liked the decor and the seats were comfy but it is a little bit packed in. They could have done with smaller or fewer tables.

Visited with friends, lovely staff very friendly and polite, the food came out quickly it was hot and delicious! Amazing pulled pork and the chicken nuggets my friend said were incredible. Defiantly would come back!

Slow unhelpful rude service, terrible greasy food, customers are loud and unpleasant. Didn't bother eating there - just left my food untouched.

I came to your 'cafe' today and had one of the worst lunches I've ever had... this was meant to be the bbq chicken hot in bread. The chicken was just lumps instead of strips and was also undercooked and slimy. the bacon was very fatty, took one bite and left it. The onions were slimy and tasteless. A very poor plate of food from somewhere I thought was going to be nice.

Ordered from just eat, over an hour late. Turned up cold and went straight in the bin. Rang to complain about lateness and got fobbed off with "on its way" waited for half hour until misses rang and got lied to saying they had rung us to apologise for it being late and got patronised and spoken to like complete crap by some foreign member of staff. I followed up a phone call to speak to a manager for him to really not give a crap. Avoid this restaurant they don't care n the foods crap either.

Odered as a takeaway. The food arrived tepid, and was so greasy and salty we had to throw most of it away. Disgusting!

ordered my burger! got excited as i saw it come towards me, the size of the thing… wait theres no chips?… you would've thought the person who served me would have pointed this out, or even tried to upsell them to me. but no…

We were wondering around town and popped in for lunch on a whim. The food was great, very tasty homemade burgers. Great portion size as well. Will definitely return, if only to keep the strength up whilst shopping.

Catered for a party of around 30 for breakfast on Christmas Eve with no trouble at all. Had a good time. Good breakfast and friendly staff despite the pressure

As I said, the food is really good but the service is really, really slow. The restaurant was nearly empty when we ask for a hamburguer, a sandwich and a side of chips and it took nearly 45 min. Worth the waiting though

We went there on a hungover shopping trip, definitely hit the spot... the staff were very friendly as well.... in some ways I'm glad we don't live in Plymouth as we'd be eating there whenever we could! We will be back!!

We went to the Greedy Pig when we had heard from friends that they served good American style sandwiches. The menu in the restaurant isn't the most extensive but the choices per item are plenty. Their menu is pretty much burger, hot dog, sandwich or breakfast but the choices under those categories are pretty much endless.

We had the food delivered through Just Eat and OMG it was absolutely incredible. The delivery driver was really polite and friendly. The food, wow!!! We ordered the Philly Cheese Beef roll with fries and it was absolutely amazing. We order through Just Eat a lot and we love American and Mexican food. We watched Man vs Food and really wanted to gorge on food.

Second time visiting The Greedy Pig and it didn't fail me! I ordered a ribs meal and as you can see in the picture the ribs were massive! The whole meal was absolutely amazing and was definitely worth my money! The staff and the atmosphere of the place were very friendly!

Yay, Greedy Pig now doing Sunday Roast and very nice it was too. Great variety of veg, almost beat me but not quite. The staff are happy and attentive so would recommend and definitely visit again.

Visited as noticed there was a Sunday lunch on. Very difficult to get a decent value for money roast in plymouth. Excellent meal & service, high quality meat & vegetables. Friendly atmosphere with attentive staff. Will definitely visit again & recommend to friends.

This was our first time at the Greedy Pig, we love American food, Philly Cheese Stake was excellent and to top the evening off live music night. Well done guys, great food and fantastic music, we will definitely go again.

We have eaten here many times since it opened a year ago x went also today and had another meal x we always find the food delicious well cooked and served by fantastic staff they always are very welcoming and always goes the extra mile to welcome us. My husband and I sometimes brings are young grandchildren they love the choice of children menu and especially enjoy the ping pong activities on the first floor.

Popped in as never seen it before so thought we'd try it out. To be honest wished we hadn't bothered as it was not cheap for what you got.

This was the second time we have visited the Greedy Pig and we were not disappointed. We tried the new pulled pork Sunday Roast and it was totally delicious. Our Son aged 8 said "this is the best meal ever!" Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, delicious food and great value for money. They even have a pool / ping-pong table upstairs to keep the kids entertained... result...Highly recommended!

We ve just had the most delicious Sunday lunch . Lovely pulled pork and beef with really well cooked vegetables . Crisp roast potatoes parsnips , leeks in cream sauce , carrots and stuffing . Really tasty and great service , we will return

Having trolled around the shops and finding that several eateries were queuing out of the door we stumbled upon the Greedy Pig

Staff clearly more focused on family visiting and ignored us pretty much completely. Was seen as an inconvenience when tried to order food but have had worse service. The food despite the excellent reviews and the menu that enticed us to visit mine was tasteless, greasy and bland. However, my Girlfriends was a lot bigger than mine and had better flavor and was actually enjoyable was really glad when she gave me the rest of hers after it was too big for her to finish yet I was still hungry after my tiny portion dunno how 2 meals at the same table could be that different, I want to try again but because of the price I don't think it's worth it just in case I get the same experience as price is quite hight for what you get.

Went here with my grNdson been here a lot still divine burgers staff brilliant chips the best and great shakes.

Had the pulled pork deluxe and it was really very tasty. Will go again and possibly try other things on the menu.

First visit here today and found the staff very welcoming and friendly. Service was excited , with the food being lovely quality. I recommend the Oreo and Nutella milkshake . Looking forward to returning.

Stopped off here whilst Christmas shopping and decided the menu looked good with reasonable prices. On entering there were only two tables occupied so we expected fast service. Wrong! We waited 40 minutes in which time we had drank are coffees within 20 minutes so sat there waiting as we witnessed the Deliveroo orders being processed quicker. During this time I noticed a sign on the wall stating that as food was cooked to order it was slower arriving at tables. Fair enough but 40 minutes was ridiculous and if restaurants can get food out quicker when full why this place cannot is beyond me. Had it been packed the delay could have been excused. As for the food it was basic, but as stated it is a value eatery. This is an ideal place for people who want to rest a while and drink coffee if the larger chains turn them off.

The service was a bit confusing. It was like walking into mcdonalds but with table service. Considering the way in which you order over the counter I expected it to be pretty speedy, especially as there was no one else in the establishment. But it took a long time and with two tiny toddlers it was too long, we ended up ordering a second beverage before the food had even arrived.

Lunchtime meal, food was good, portions very good & prices reasonable for city centre. Staff very friendly, decor very interesting, all in all a great lunch experience.

We walked past plenty of places that were full of people and this place was quiet. Unsure when we went in but menu looked good and had kids meals. Me and wife had burgers which were hand made and very tasty. Kids had chicken nuggets some of the largest ive seen made with proper chicken breast not processed stuff. Should have gotten one between them as a large meal for 6 year old

I popped in here for a quick solo lunch having been told by several friends it was very good. to say I was disappointed was an understatement! it was not at all busy but the waitress did not seem terribly bothered whether she served me or not. I had the pulled pork with gravy - not only did the gravy taste burned (it had clearly caught on the pan while being heated up) but the underlying pork was dry and tasteless and nuclear hot - it had been overheated; I can only assume in a microwave. All this on a cardboard plate! I won't be returning.

I was in town with friends and we thougjt we would try this place. (Wish we didnt) we walked in and ordered our food which took 30 mins to come to us. All we could hear was these two bossy people who worked there arguing between the both of them over something, which i found very rude in front on customers we where the only people in there. When the food came out in got chucked on our table by the man who was arguing and said enjoy. The food was disgusting so we left.

I was taken by the logo and just had to stop and sample the fare. Good food and drinks at great prices. Located in the Centre of Plymouth there are plenty of eateries to chose from, and the greedy pig is a great choice.

Very good BBQ and ribs, burgers all the American style. Far better than the rubbish American diner in town

Have just left from a lunch here and I am still confused about my experience. Firstly we sit down inside and decide what to order I go to place my order with a blonde girl who midway through me placing said order walks off and takes some drinks outside (???). A woman I'm assuming is a manager takes over and proceeds to tell me what is included in the burger I ordered although they have no pulled pork. In a pork restaurant... On a Saturday lunchtime. I return 5 mins later to order something else, and the manageress asks the blonde girl to take my order, so again, I start placing said order with the same girl who walks off half way through to make some drinks? The manager is watching this all take place and again, asks her to take my order; "I am, I am!" Erm, okay.., she then manages to complete my order after having to ask where "cheesy mushrooms are on the till" multiple times to the manager.

The ribs were OK. I expected a lot more. Friendly staff. My colleague had chiken freshly made and she loved it. The cheese sticks fried very nice ish.

Only had a breakfast bap and a milkshake but it was very good value for money and was really tasty would definitely come again

Came here for a quick bite to eat at the weekend....it's a very colourful restaurant that caught my eye as I walked by.

Myself, partner and friend were undecided where to go for lunch whilst strolling around town.

Good choice of food, friendly staff and a clean and fun restaurant. There's a 100 other restaurants just like it out and about, but perhaps a first for Plymouth. I'll defiantly be back to try some more of the delicious pulled pork! The macaroni cheese is also a must :)

Friday night, 21 people with a mixture of adults & children. Many different t orders, but all the food came out together, hot & tasted good.

Tasty pork rolls although the bread could be nicer and they needed more apple sauce and missed crackling. Enjoyed the jerk chicken (which I would make spicier), fried mozzarella sticks and bramble drinks. The children's meal was a good size. We would definitely return. Worth a visit.

Daughter had the chicken nuggets and they were not the normal through a machine chicken nugget when you took the there away it was clear it was fresh chicken that had just been cooked. The burgers were well cooked. I wasn't a fan of the onions in mine but that's personal taste not to distract from the great burger I had. Worth a visit and would return.

Visited Greedy Pig for an evening with friends. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, nothing to much trouble. Various dishes served and all were excellent: curry, jerk chicken, ribs, salad etc...- lovely evening had by all. Will definitely return and recommend Greedy Pig to all.

We hadn't been in before but the temptation of bacon and pancakes in the City Centre lured us in.

In town with our dog we were looking for somewhere we could sit outside with a snack and Greedy Pig looked like a fun place.
