Excellent customer service as i ordered 2 medium lamb doner kebab and was given them fresh off the spit. It is normally a busy place but i went in at a quietest time. The food tasted great however they can improve in the portion.

Had an order from Uber eats. The delivery driver took 90 minutes which is a joke but maybe not the takeaways fault. Food was minging. Everything cold and soggy. Worst thing is the chicken was completely burnt. I rang to complain and the guy thinks chicken cooked on charcoal should look like charcoal. Completely burnt and tasteless. Salad was old and soggy.

Very Good Chicken kebab, But when I asked, Where’s is the feta cheese!!, that Go’s with the Greek Saled? They said, You have to pay a extra £3.00, if I want feta cheese, on my Greek salad, when it supposedly Comes with Greek salad? Uhh!!

We have been coming here for years. The quality and value did have a dip a few years ago but our food last night was fantastic. The pizza was delicious and the chips were a generous portion. I won't hesitate to go back again for another pizza. Awesome, Yum Yum!!

*Disgusting service and even worse kebab* - The two geezer working in kebab house there haven't got a brain cell between them. Asked for lamb and they gave me chicken, I then proceeded to  inform them them i asked for lamb and the owner starting shouting at me calling me a liar.  I asked for chilli sauce on my chips and he said they dont do sauce on chips. My Mrs ordered halloumi wrap, when she was eating the wrap I had to ask if she wanted some halloumi with her salad wrap. I'm sure the meat in the kebab was pigeon. Overall I would never go here again and would recomend people avoid this place. Honestly I'd rather eat a bowl of warm dog poo than have kebab from here again.

I came across this place on Uber eats and I’m shocked on how bed they were. They charge 50p per sauce on your food for one. I ordered a shish wrap and it came in a single pitta and the sauce and chicken was not even fitting in the pitta and you couldn’t hold the damn thing, since when did wraps come in a pitta. They charged £7.20 for large cheesy chips…. Again hardly any cheese on them. Third but not least they didn’t follow instructions on the chicken burger and it looked like a big chicken nugget in a bun. Imagine paying almost £30 for that! AVOID THIS PLACE.

Part of my order was a salad pitta, there was such a tiny amount of salad for the cost, there should have been at least 3 times more . There was also a strong chemical smell and taste on the salad, it was the same with the salad on a doner kebab we ordered, it was very off putting!

Jesus christ people avoid this place unless you are buying food for your biggest enemy... Whole place is dirty but hands and nails of fella who's making and serving kebabs 🤢🤮 worse than car mechanic after engine rebuild... and he's serving food!!! Forks are so sticky that you have to peel it off from the bag. My whole order went straight away to bin. Honestly in 21st century city centre food parlour in such a low standard of cleanliness I don't know how it is possible.

Just terrible. A mighty fall from grace. Tough, thick and chewy doner meat, both the chicken and the lamb. Barely any salad and pitta stale and chewy. Used to be incredible and home of a brilliant £5 pizza! I can't speak for the pizza but this was just an awful experience. It was a Monday night so probably not selling a lot but doesn't mean I should pay for awful food.

Grecian is a legendary place, sometimes I just need a mixed donner from here. The staff are totally grumpy to customers, but the kebabs are the best so I don't care.

Awful!!! Size of a ‘large’ mixed kebab was awful!!! The size of ‘large’ chips also awful!!! And when you email them about it they just ignore you!!! I’ve brought better quality and bigger for better price and better service!!! Will not use again if this isn’t resolved!! Also cash only… Definitely some dodgey avoidance there too!!! Food was good and staff were nice considering the fact they probably have to deal with loads of drunk annoying people. Only thing was that the guy making my pizza was also handling money and taking payments from other customers and not washing his hands between doing that and dressing my pizza, everything looked clean and I understand the rush but I just think money and food handling should be separate ..

Utterly grim! This place has gone seriously downhill and is no longer worth considering. Such a shame since it used to be the place to go for a quality kebab.

Such a shame. First ordered from here 5 years back and it was amazing! However ever since it’s just gone down hill, the portion sizes are a quarter of what they used to be and don’t get me started in the customer service. I have NEVER come across such rudeness from people taking my money in my life. All of them are just disgusting. They argue behind the counter.. the pony tail guy is just vile.. the hair in my last salad was the tip of the ice berg for me. Absolutely gross. I expect it’s alright still if you’re absolutely wasted and on the way home at 3am but if you are sober? Stay clear.

A classic late night stop off on my way home after a few drinks. Strangely I couldn’t pay with my phone, it was either cash or log into their website and place an order to collect. I had no cash and it was a miracle that I managed to negotiate their website after the night I’d had! A quality kebab was eventually prepared (and consumed as I stumbled up Gloucester Road).

It's good after a night out for pizza. I don't recommend the kebabs and the Grecian, though iconic, has some issues with service.

Worst kebab shop in Bristol. Heard it used to be good but avoid at all costs. Forgot about us, waited ages, stood watching the doner get burnt, asked for a refund and then got told I couldn't have one because it had already been made (obviously it hadn't, I was stood there watching). Then the owner got really angry and waved a kebab knife at me. So I just had to have my burnt, awful kebab. Driest thing I have ever eaten. So bad.

Staff are unbelievably rude order a margarita and they messed my order refused to give me a refund or re do the order disgusting rude service my friend made a order on the phone and they kept putting the phone down 10/10 don’t recommend

I'm hoping when our order arrives home today with step daughter picking it up, the pizza will have lots of vegetables, meat and peppers. I thinks its a bit early for kebabs but if it was later. Omg I never threw out a wrap to the rubbish in my entire life. Tomatoes and salad were spoilt. The guy who prepared it, touched his nose, then his mouth, then his body and wrapped our food with his bare hands without washing them. Needless to say I guess. Please don’t.

I was intrigued by all the one star reviews, has my favourite kebab shop really gone down hill into one star territory or are people just being harsh… I used to really highly rate this place back probably around the early 2000s I’d spend a lot of time on Gloucester rd and this was my preferred place for late night kebabs, mostly because at the time it was the only place that did a chicken doner, but also, it really was better quality than it’s competition. These days I think the competition has gotten better, but this place is still good. Sure maybe the portion size isn’t the biggest, I had a large chicken doner with all the salad & chilli sauce, it was enough for me but not a massive portion. Perhaps if you don’t want salad with your kebab this place isn’t for you, their salad is really good quality and bulks out the kebab nicely. Some people are moaning about the service staff, I mean I doubt English is their first language and working in a late night kebab shop is hardly the best environment to give you a permanently sunny disposition, I’m not expecting service with a smile from a late night kebab shop, having said that, my kebab really needed a bit more chilli sauce than I got. For late night food, if your looking for something after midnight, this place is still really good compared to the competition, sure in the day time you might be better off at a more modern Bristol venue for food but those places aren’t often open this late! I should also mention when I got my kebab there was a cute little cat sat by the front door, who has clearly figured out all they need to do to get a bit of kebab meat from late night customers is follow them a little as they leave looking all cute, 😹 good addition to the shop I’d say, bumps this from three stars to four because the too little chilli sauce I’d mark them down on did mean I could feed the little cat easier!

Ordered a large doner kebab and small chips. The guy taking the cash seemed ok. But the guy who served the food couldn’t even smile or reply to a friendly comment about my friend coming all the way from Devon for a kebab (lol) The large lamb doner kebab was the smallest ‘large’ I’ve ever seen and the most expensive. At £8 I could get a kebab elsewhere that could easily satisfy 2 adults. And the same for the chips, in all fairness I enjoyed the chips but again it was a very small portion and for £3 the price is very steep. The doner meat was far too crispy, too much crisp and not enough moisture. The meat was so crispy it was like a jacket potato skin and you could literally hold it in the air like a pencil. A massive shame cos I last ate here around 5 years ago and I remember it being very nice and not too expensive. So overall, staff not very friendly and very small portions that are over-priced.

Customer service skills of a frying pan……… as a avid follower of the kebab I was utterly disappointed that I even wasted my money on a “large kebab” it was awful no taste over cooked, salad was substandard! No banter with the staff! A good farmer could get them chips growing again! I’m disgusted!

Is there a new chef/pizza maker at The Grecian since December 2022? The pizzas are still good value, but not quite as well made. They were brilliant before.

Decided to give this place another go after a couple of years. As I had a kebab from them before and it was disgusting. Tried again tonight and it arrived stone cold and covered in tomatoes when I requested no tomatoes. Idiots!

Awful service, my partner was really respectful when ordering, put a £20 note on the counter when trying to sort out how we’d pay. The person behind the counter claimed he’d ‘thrown cash at his face’ and that he needed to get out of the bar. I’ve never been confronted with such disgusting service, I’m really forgiving when it comes to customer service as I’ve worked in the industry for over 5 years as well as my partner, my partner didn’t even want to post this review, but after being treated with such contempt over something so trivial? I couldn’t help but share in the hope it will change the staffs behaviour.

Some of the worst food and service I have ever received in my life. I was actively shouted at by staff for asking for extra chillies, this is a business that has no care for its customers and only cares about its profit. The premises is disgusting, the hygiene standards are non existing. It's a place to avoid at all costs. Especially when just around the corner are a some fantastic places to eat that respect the customer and not just the cash.

Absolutely awful hygiene. I know a guy who work there and he told me the owner doesn't care about hygiene at all and doesn't spend any money on hygiene equipment or time to clean. He said the owner is keep saying students eat anything so just sell them and don't worry about cleaning much. As student, I went there few times and it's true the hygiene is awful and wouldn't buy anything from here again.

I grew up in the area and The Grecian was always the place to go for a good kebab, sadly things have gone downhill massively! I am guessing that the new "management" are trying to earn a quick buck before the place catches fire, again... The staff are utterly rude and the kebab was awful, even if I had a dog, I wouldn't feed it food from here.

Such a shame! The Grecian used to be the place for a quality shish kebab, not any more. The lamb pieces were tiny and overcooked, the salad was minimal. I used to love popping into the Grecian when I was in the area, I will now have to find elsewhere for my kebab fix.

My favourite place to go for a kebab after a night out even if I've been down by the harbourside I'll get a taxi up for grecian. The shish and pizza are really good. I always tell my friends grecian isn't good it's an experience

Found a hair and a piece of glass in a number 11 pizza. Called the store and was given no apology and the staff member simply stated nothing could be done. No offer to exchange the pizza or asked for an evidence.

decent takeaway pizza for a reasonable price - if you're after restaurant quality you're probably looking at the wrong place. before going vegan i used to regularly visit thanks to their late night opening hours after closing up a bar i worked at. through COVID restrictions I hadn't visited but recently got one of their vegan pizzas and was very impressed.. prices have risen slightly from the old days but where hasn't? if you're in need of a pizza that's not too dear in a pinch you can do a lot worse than the grecian!

I’ve seen the staff do and say some nasty stuff to girls late at night when they think nobody will remember. Creeps. Nasty salty pizza, you’ll need to drink a lot of water afterwards. Go to the Fish Bar up the road.

Not been there a few years as found the staff rude, unhygienic. But felt I should give it another chance, so obviously prices have increased, but sadly the staff haven't become even slightly more hygienic or learnt manners. The pizza did actually taste delicious but, very sparse on toppings. More worryingly not only burnt around edges but it was sliced in the dark.

I have eaten here so many time form convenience and based upon their kebabs being quite tasty compared to many alternatives in Bristol. However, the small portions and disgustingly rude staff who mess up your order has just pushed me too far. They made a mistake and didn't put sauce on our kebabs then made us pay for pots of sauce on top of that and their attitude just enfuriates me. I will not be going back.

Food quality is good but they’re salad hoarders. Back in the day they used to put a lot of salad on a kebab but now they’re really tight with it. Also I recently ordered a £12+ mixed kebab and I honestly expected something mega but it was just a 1997 £6 for £12.

Due to repeated rudeness from the staff I now avoid the Grecian. I'd recommend going round the corner to 'fish bar' for the £5 pizza deal (like the Grecian used to do before jacking up their prices) . This is the first time I've ever written a review, my last experience there compelled me to write a review. Bellends.
