Great Wall Chinese Takeaway in Sunderland

Cantonese sauce smelled of wee, portion size was tiny chicken soggy didn’t even end up eating it looked that vile

Got here just on time but was cold.

45 minutes late. food hot but very bland. overcooked noodles, really soggy

Great Wall has been my regular for years but have to admit last nights meal was very disappointing. Food was ok but portion size was very poor. Main meals were in small plastic containers, £9 for small main portions? £5.70 for small seaweed? Not good

food was delicious but wait was a bit excessive and not well communicated, said to keep an eye out for driver about 20 mins before food actually arrived but food was worth the wait and still very hot

Great Wall, says it in the name it’s great always order from here but a few nights ago I order from a different place and it was poor so I will not be order anywhere else apart from here

Ordered noodles with curry sauce for my son but it came with egg and he would not eat it. Also not enough curry sauce in the dish which made the noodles very dry. Should have issued what was ordered really. My honey and chili chicken dish was tasty. The chicken and noodle soup was too thick. Overall disappointing and doubt would order again based on starter soup and curry and noodle dish being wrong.

The garlic and chilli prawns where soggy, barley warm, and tasted like they where old and where just reheated, the rice was hard and barley warm and the noodles where fine but the only hot thing I received from my order was the curry sauce

I ordered a set meal for one which includes soup , prawn toast, rice , and a main meal. I choose salt and pepper prawns as my main meal which I paid £1.40 extra for and received salt and pepper chicken ! as well as that I was not sent my chicken and sweetcorn soup instead I received a pot of curry sauce . I also received seaweed instead of prawn toast. Not happy!

Food was really poor chips where stale chicken balls where dry and batter was like soggy bread and the sauce was disgusting really disappointed couldn’t eat the meal was such a waste of £15

Actually ordered the completely wrong thing and the fault was on my behalf. However they rung me back to explain they’d send me a new order at no cost!🙏🏾

The box was soggy meaning the chips were also soggy and the chicken was not that crispy

Recently moved to Sunderland area needed to find a new Chinese takeaway again lucky for us we decided to try Great Wall on our first night in our new home and have been back twice since would highly recommend food is great!

First time we been here and it won't be the last food was very tasty and plenty too great service food was ready and waiting for us too collect and was red hot still

food arrived disgraceful, was as cold as ice by the time it arrived, tried to warm it up so i didn’t have to eat freezing food, but it just wasn’t appetising at all, chicken balls had about 5 strands of chicken in and the rest was just batter with grease pouring out of it, no ‘chicken’ balls whatsoever will never order again from here!!!!!!! disgrace!

The chicken curry was really delicious. The chicken was tender and the sauce was thick and full of great flavours. The chicken balls were really tasty too, though I would recommend eating them with a pot of curry sauce which is sold separately.

Very small carton sauce was none existent like jelly prawn toast was burnt

Have ordered from them previously, and the food was good. This time the standard was poor. The noodles were for vermicelli noodles. Were runny,and not thick like the usual Taste wasn’t great, I don’t know what happened but has definitely gone downhill. I won’t be ordering again

My one request.... GO BACK TO SERVING PROPER THICK NOODLES for the Chow Mein... The skinny noodles are really not very good and not what people expect in a chow mein...

Food was cold, and generally not tasty. The chow mein was bland with no taste, the curry sauce was strange and congealed. The best item was the ribs but again the barbecue sauce was the right colour but limited in flavour and very watery. Not sure if they were having a bad night but for £40 it was disappointing.

Worst chinese meal I've had in while, sorry, Great Wall is usually good but tonight it was just bad. Nothing had taste and didnt seem fresh, even the chips looked and tasted like they were days old. Good side, mixed hors d'oeuvres were OK.

Food absolutely disgusting, all went in the bin, everything was burnt to a crisp and rock solid. Called up and wouldn’t do anything about it other than offer a free portion on next order as app I wasn’t a repeat customer not that it should matter as still a paying customer! Awful food and awful customer service will never return and would avoid at all costs

First time ordering from here. Honestly the food tasted like something my 5 yr old cooked..i have lived all over the world and tried many Chinese's. This was the worst by far..the chicken curry tasted like fruit. Watered down curry..nothing like any Chinese curry I have tried anywhere in the UK. The noodles were cheap thin things. Nothing was nice. Wasn't cheap either £36. All gone in the bin..only nice part. Lovely friendly delivery driver.

I'm not sure if it was the time we ordered but very unhappy with this meal. Curry sauce thick and lumpy Sweet & sour sauce runny Chicken and chips were soggy and the only thing that tasted decent was the egg fried rice

Disappointed. Battered chicken was chewy and didn't taste fresh. Fried rice and sauce tasted unpleasantly soapy. Would like Great Wall to respond to this please.

My absolute favourite place for Chinese food. Great service. Prompt delivery. Food fresh, beautifully cooked and very tasty. We've used Great Wall several times now and will continue to do so in future. What's not to like 👌

Food was great overall as always and delivery was as good as I've come to expect from Great Wall. My gripe on this particular order was that the chips were old and crunchy and generally not at their finest, but they were still just about edible.

Second time we have ordered this simply curry dish. Loved it both times.

Worst Chinese food I've ever had. Everything was cold considering it arrived 30mins early. House Special Chow Mein had 2 prawns in and few scabby bits of meat. Soggy Chicken Balls and Under Cooked Ribs. Chips and Curry Sauce was only thing hot and seemed to be cooked fresh.
