Food is good and reasonably priced. Service is also very good. All that said the drinks prices are dreadful; a 175ml glass of wine £17.50, a cocktail £25! Sadly they certainly overcharge on drinks by a considerable margin. Cremant at £10 for 125ml is quite reasonable!

No greeting. Unsure whether a menu was brought to us or if we had to ask. After sitting 15 mins I went to the bar and collected a menu myself. I then headed back to the bar as no one came near us to take an order. After around 20 mins our tea/coffee arrived but no sugar brought or offered. We sat waiting on the accompanying scone for a further 15 mins but it never arrived so I had to chase down a more senior looking person to chase the scone and advise we wanted replacement drinks as ours were now cold. These arrived about 7 mins later but by now we’d been there 45 mins and we would have been better with the free tea in our room! To top it all a service charge was added to our bill!! Had I seen this before my partner had paid I certainly wouldn’t have paid. Not what I expected from a 5 star hotel at all.

Really slow service. Waited nearly 25mins before I even was greeted or offered a menu. It wasn’t even busy. Turns out great Scot’s bar is so called because of all the great Scottish men whose portraits adore the walls. Wouldn’t have taken too much imagination to find some more female Scot’s to even up the wall!

Lovely refined bar with lots of secluded seating and a great selection of Scotch! Good wine list and selection of beers and cocktails, as you would expect at a high class hotel like this. Be warned though - unfortunately the service in the rest of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired.

I love the bar and have been going for years. The service is great but the cocktails are odd. Whisky sour is difficult to get wrong but they have played with a classic and drowned out all flavour with vermouth. A short sharp drink turned into something I could t recognise. Then the Negroni was so watery! I decided not to risk wasting money trying the rest. When I returned the sour I got an apology but not asked for details as to why nor offered a refund. Lovely bar, lovely drinks just avoid the cocktails as the prices and the mixology don’t match.

Pros: Lovely comfortable seating, good drinks selection, friendly staff, great views, relaxed space Cons: lack of light bites selection, expensive, slow service (hard to get check) MAJOR CON: as a proud Scottish woman it’s appalling that the bar contains so few pictures of great Scottish women on the walls - there are many to chose from in health, sport, research and entertainment - just google it. Yet this Scottish landmark hotel thinks it’s fine to call the bar a great Scots bar and neglect the 50+ percent of the Scottish population that are woman. They missed an opportunity to rebalance the walls and educate visitors on the great achievements of Scottish woman. Unforgivable oversight in this century

Waiters would appear not to understand that customers expect to be served, glasses on bottles on tables not cleared away. I had to go to the bar to order after a wait to be served at the table, and then we had to wait another 10 mins for them to arrive. We tried to order a 2nd drink but gave up and left. Very poor for any hotel stay, but this is supposed to be 5 star.

The food was at the usual Cameron House exceptional standards, but the added excitement of eating outside on the Balcony with fire pits on your table & Blankets for your cold legs was brilliant. 1st time eating alfresco in Scotland in November is a different & enjoyable experience.

Visit family in lodge every November and the service in this bar does not get any better. Waited 15 mins from sitting outside to get acknowledged and eventually had to go inside to get someone to come out and take an order. Staff don’t engage customers. I seen two ladies clear their own plates on to another empty table and pour their own wine. The place was not even busy! Staff huddle behind bar and don’t clear empty glasses and take orders when clearly required. Girl too busy cashing up and forgetting about customers. Loved spending time in this bar during our stay at Cameron House. Spacious yet cosy, modern yet traditional. With the choice of sitting outside at a fire pit table with complimentary blankets there's something for everyone. Very efficient, friendly staff, everything seems to run super smoothly. We brought the kids here to eat one night before the hotel Halloween Party for a 'grown-up tea'. The kids menu was very good for a very reasonable price. We were rushing so we asked if they could have their mains before the party & their second course after. This wasn't a problem & they even made some peppercorn sauce especially to accompany one of the kids steak. They were shattered after the party & said they'd had enough candy so they didn't want dessert. No problem, the staff kindly arranged for a pizza to be made, complete in a take away box for them to have back at the lodge for supper. Fantastic service. Sitting relaxing with a glass of wine in this bar was one of my favourite parts of the whole holiday!

Cameron House continues to excel and impress with the quality of the facilities and the largely local staff. It's a very special place to visit- even if you can't afford to go often! We had lunch on the new balcony. Very well finished with real flame heaters on each table to keep the worst of the chill off. Quite warm enough late October to be outside but be warned if windy and rainy- has been known in Scotland on occasion! - the rain may well drive in so chose your table with consideration for wind direction. The food was very good and the portions adequate for lunch. We had haddock and chips, burger and chips and our 8 year old daughter had mac n cheese. The main downside is pricing is at the limit of acceptability to us at around £46 for the above plus 2 coffees and an apple juice.

The tables on the terrace are few in number, but with a glass firepit in the tables and blankets to keep you warm they are very, very convivial. But I do have to agree with the service issues. Long waits if you are looking for table service at busy times, or, if you are sitting at the bar you can easily be ignored whilst all the staff are tied up in drinks dispense for the waiters. Not quite what you expect in a five star hotel.

Of the restaurant options at Cameron house, we found this to be the worst. It is basically a pub with grandiose ideas and an overpriced meal service. Staff range from expert, to inept - totally at random. Your order would (eventually) be taken by an efficient waiter and then carried around by a younger person for a while to cool in the evening air until you intercept it yourself. I accept that people have to be trained, but at these prices there are better ways of mentoring than anything we saw.

We stopped in Scots Bar every day of our stay and every day except two (when Dominick was our waiter) our orders were wrong or we had to wait a very long time for service. A high ceiling room lined with photographs of ( ..... well you guess!!) that has had added for 2017 an outdoor terrace, unfortunately it faces northish and despite the view together with blankets and heaters not perhaps the experience it should be! Inside the room is spacious the bar has available a great variety of drinks. The bar menu is varied and good value but getting service from the many staff whose principal job appears to be talking to each other spoils the occasion of being in such an impressive and spacious room. Table clearing and cleaning, together with the removal of crumbs and old food from the rather cosy and indulgent arm chairs and sofas appears to be an ongoing issue management have not come to terms with over the years - a great shame not 5star standard!! We have not stayed in the hotel for several years and these observations should in no way be regarded as observations of the accommodation.

We have been coming here for years and the new terrace is a great addition. We had a platter to share as a starter before heading back to our lodge for dinner - was good and came promptly once we had a chance to order. Views are stunning, outside terrace had heaters and blankets available. Cocktail selection was good and they are well made. So far so great. Just can't work out why the service is so consistently below par but guess must be bar management for it to persist over so many years. There was one great guy this time, smiley, helpful etc but prior to that we waited a very long time to be served and another customer at another table pointed a waiter back to our table noticing he had walked past avoiding any eye contact 5 or 6 times. Another said he would get someone to light to table heater and then forgot. Staff here just seem disinterested and such a shame as the place has great potential but needs the people in it to create the buzz and friendly Scottish welcoming vibe the rest of the place has. I long to read reviews about this place having cracked the service.

It could be so good, the views are stunning but let down by terrible service. We have been 3 times this week! Each occasion the service was painfully slow. We had to stop a waiter going past to even give an order! The new tables on the new balcony are great with fires the table. We asked 4 times in 90 minutes for them to be lit but nothing! 3 times today we were ignored trying to place an order even though they saw my wife put her hand up! We were staying in one of the lodges on the estate and used the bar a few times during our stay. It's a great option for an after swim hot chocolate or glass of something stronger. The new terrace bar is a great addition to this location. With its commanding views of the loch, at table heaters and on request cosy blankets it's a must try location.Service: was friendly and courteous , if a little slow at peak times. Food: two menus are in operation depending upon the time of day. A snack menu - up to 6pm I think, and a dinner menu - served to around 10pm. we ate from the dinner menu on our visit. The kids option was excellent value and were good sized portions. Soup and chicken dippers got a big thumbs from my daughter. My elder daughter opted for the burger from the adult menu, which was also good.My husband and I shared the anti-pasti platter, which was a little small and lacked some essentials for me. No oils or dip nor artisan bread, instead just some bread sticks. So it was a little dry. Maybe an addition of humus and fresh bread or pitta would be a good option. At £14, it was a poor second to the excellent equivalent option we had later in the week at Cucina's for half the price. Granted without the benefit of the stunning loch view. There is a full and extensive bar service, and we can definitely recommend the cocktails. The terrace sofas are a premium location, but be patient there is a regular turn over if you're prepared to move. Believe me it's worth the effort. Overall, it's lovely relaxed addition to this great bar facility. The changes from the new owners of serving food after 6 is also a great improvement. While there or in the area, it's a must location stop.My kids never believe people actually read my reviews, so if this was helpful please give me your vote. It's always nice to prove them wrong occasionally

Punkt.

After a game of golf on a very pleasant day we thought it would be nice to finish off with lunch on the new terrace at the Great Scots Bar. What a mistake that was. The staff were pleasant and courteous and no blame is attributed to them. We ordered soft drinks , coffees , scones and sandwiches. The soft drinks arrived promptly, the coffees about 15 minutes later and the scones a further 10 minutes after that. We were not all happy at this sporadic delivery but could not believe that the rest of the food took a full one hour to arrive. When it did the fish ciabatta was virtually inedible and the club sandwich not a lot better. Only excuse offered was that food had to come from the distant kitchen. Overall., this was a quite appalling experience which cost us approximately £65. We will not be back.

We were staying at one of the lodges and decided to pop into the bar for a hot drink. The bar is beautifully decorated and lovely to take in. After sitting down for around 20 minutes, we thought we must have to Go upto the bar to order as no one had approachef us, so my partner went up to the bar. He was politely told to make himself confortable and someone would be over to take our order. A lovely young girl then came and took our order, in which we ordered a flat white coffee and a hot chocolate. The hot drinks came after another 20-30 minute wait, in which we also asked for the bill incase that too took a good while to come. The flat white coffee was mediocre and the hot chocolate was tastless. The drinks were served up with some shortbread which was absolutely tasty! Unfortunately my hot chocolate was so tasteless and disappointing I had to leave it after a few sips. My partner did finish his coffee, however didn't enjoy it. Still no bill had arrived so my partner again went upto the bar in which we paid and left. The whole experience was rather disappointing and made us glad we didn't order any food. Don't know where to start with this one. Dirty tables, unfriendly and inattentive staff, poor selection on menu. Overall impression was staff are inexperienced and demotivated. We were there for lunch and were served by a variety of waiters/waitresses so there was a general air of confusion and disorganisation. Staff appeared to be under pressure but I think this is a symptom of not having specific staff in charge of set tables or areas, so there's no continuity of service. It's difficult for them to keep track of who is still waiting for drinks or a bill, who hasn't received their food, who's paid etc. We witnessed a few other unhappy customers, so I think they must be used to people complaining cos the staff appeared to be making a concerted effort to avoid eye contact. Shame, cos the setting is beautiful and the new outside terrace is definitely an attraction. Prices are what you would expect from a 5* bar, but service most definitely not. Too many other places along the lochside which provide a much more pleasing customer experience so won't be rushing back any time soon.

We came for dinner- seated on the balcony which is lovely with nice views. We ordered our drinks and food- the first round of drinks came correct so that was good. We were provided with blankets, also a nice touch. We asked 3-4 times if the fire could be put on, as every other table had theirs on, it wasn't until after our meal that they eventually put it on. Potentially understaffed- or forgetful staff? Our starters and mains came at the same time- this is a problem, obviously! By the time you get around to eating 2 courses at once it's cold... right? So despite this we ordered a bottle of wine and a cola. A glass of wine came instead of a bottle. Scrap the bottle the glass is fine, the cola never arrived. Tables around us were also annoyed at the service. The food was good, it was the service that did not meet the expectations of such a lovely hotel. A final glass of wine was ordered, never came. So we got the bill instead. A potential large loss of money- not to be conceited- but a hotel like this has guests that will most likely be willing to spend a lot... but with terrible service, it's going to be difficult to have happy guests. So we spoke to someone at the end and he took £15 off the bill. Which is nice! However this is more of a recommendation to those who are at cameron house and wondering where to eat etc. Maybe here is ok for a drink (but in saying that the drinks order was wrong/forgotten multiple times) but I wouldn't recommend eating here. We are here for a week and everything else has been lovely, hopefully eating at the boathouse on Saturday will be more of a success. Disappointing!

we were staying at the carrick golf and spa lodges for the week, so after an evening meal at the duck bay next door we went for some drinks at the scotts bar in cameron house, its not the first place ive been where a bottle of lager will set you back £4.75, but its a night out, cocktails it is for most of us, i had the summertime daquri. turns out that it is a small cocktail glass with alot of lime in it, there is no point asking what alcohol was in it,i couldnt taste it, as my face was still realing from the likes of a sherbert overload, so after topping the said drink up with about half a bottle of sprite, it was finally drinkable. my partner asked for a sherry,(she loves sherry) not this one, we asked to see the bottle when we left, so we can avoid this sherry at all costs in the future, we were very dissapointed and £20 down for just our 2 drinks we should of just had the bottled lager. i dont think we will return.

Then later 1 main meal & soup came out minus the other 2 mains. Our server came back from the kitchen to tell us the other 2 dishes would be 5 min. 12 min later they came out, after our other family members had finished theirs. No real explanation just an apology. When paying I mentioned to the ?duty manager the service had been poor, she asked me what happened (even although she already knew, as we had seen her speaking to our server earlier!!). Seemingly a technical error with the ordering machine. No goodwill gesture offered. Not the kind of service we expect from this establishment, having been several times previously. Tue 6 Dec 2016, x3, 21:00We had dined next door at the Cameron Grill, so popped in here for after-dinner drinks. recently refurbished with lots of comfy armchairs and sofas in funky tartans, but I prefer the high-chairs at the bar. They're well-stocked with whisky, obviously, but I've never tried it since age 18 (now 51) so 2 of us opted for the £25pp "Classic Whisky Tasting" (for beginners) with David, the boss... very young-looking, but clearly knows his stuff! Disappeared to set it all up, and returned with 4x whisky bottles, and 2 sets of 4 glasses with lids... full explanation of each whisky in turn, and instruction on how to smell, tongue-dip, taste, swallow, etc... all fascinating stuff, and quite an eye-opener for the 3 of us... and also very enjoyable! Each taster is half a measure, so you end up with a 'double' each, so it's not like you're "under the table" or anything... though we did then try 4 more additional whiskies to better understand the variances...Better still, you can "buy" your own "whisky locker" with your own private bottle of whisky (28 x shot price) which is FAB!!!Fabulous bar, very knowledgeable staff, great service, GREAT WHISKY!!! ...HIC!!!

This area has been recently refurbished which it evidently needed last year. Use of rich tartans adds to the very Scottish feel. Photos of the famous a terrific backdrop. Price of wine extortionate. Cameron House need to rethink this

We are currently staying at the hotel and popped in to the bar for a couple of drinks. We left 35 minutes later without them. Ordered at the bar after 10 minutes of waiting, only to be told to take a seat and our drinks would be brought to us...20 minutes later and still no sign of them. Very poor service for a 5* hotel bar.

The bar is great for drinks and the views are superb. Some of the staff are excellent and we were greeted by a smiling, helpful blonde girl who offered us menu's and tried to seat us despite it being a busy Saturday afternoon. She was let down by a few of her colleagues who could perhaps learn from her enthusiasm and recognition of good customer service. The two times we drank in here we experienced both great and poor service from different staff members. One bar person left us standing at the bar for for what was an unacceptable time while she re-arranged barware instead of serving customers when it was clear we had been ready to order for some time. I had to call her over and ask if it was ok for us to order drinks. The same lady also ignored my attempts to pay the bill. A lack of attention on her part. In the evening another completely forgot to process an order and left us waiting for drinks we had ordered for 15minutes. His colleague was clearly frustrated by this though and she quickly corrected his error the moment she noticed. In saying that though there were excellent examples of customer service here so don't be put off by this.

We are on a business trip staying at the Cameron House. There are about 50 people in our group. The resort is lovely but we have been so disappointed with the service in the Great Scots Bar. Two nights in a row now 6 of us have gone there for after dinner drinks. The bar has not been busy....10 customers at the bar tonight. The bartenders are very young and seem to be quite inexperienced. They don't greet us or offer to get us a drink. We have to sit there for at least 10 minutes and after before ignored for all that time one of us speaks up and asks for drinks! They don't come around offering refills. Totally ignore us. Terrible service. So sad because the bar had such a wonderful atmosphere.

We had a terrible experience in the Cameron House bar yesterday. The only available table still had the previous diner's dirty crockery and cutlery, after having sat down we expected these things to be removed but after a full ten minutes of staring at disgusting, ketchup smeared plates we tidied them away ourselves, putting everything on the bar. Nobody stopped us, helped us or even raised an eyebrow, staff noticed and just let us get on with it. Shocking. We then had to ask someone to come and clean the table, a waiter came over, unsmiling and surly, didn't even acknowledge us and wiped the table clean. We finally ordered drinks, and received our drinks a full 45 minutes after having sat down. When the food eventually arrived it was inedible, my burger was totally overlooked, dry and tasteless, while my chips were white, undercooked and greasy. Everyone else around the table had similarly unpalatable food. I had a mouthful before sending it back. The service and food were appalling. As a local I found this place a total embarrassment. This is the worst that Scotland has to offer, a hellish tourist trap that is absolutely not worth visiting.

It's been a couple of years since we visited Cameron House and the Great Scots Bar is one of my favourite rooms. This time it's had a makeover which is nice with more seating which was always a problem before. STAFF is the problem. I stood at the bar waiting to be served, several staff walked past me but were careful to ensure no eye contact. I eventually ordered 3 drinks and was asked where I was sitting and they would bring them over. Twenty minutes later, no drinks and I had to ask again to be told bluntly "I forgot", no apology. The Great Scots Bar has the potential to be exactly that, "GREAT", it has amazing views and with good menus and drinks available you could be there all day.......but you really need to train the staff to deliver the service to customers.

After asking my mum to meet me for lunch after my sons swimming lesson, we were looking forward to a nice coffee and some lunch. Unfortunately we sat at a table and were ignored for 20 mins before I decided I best order at the bar. Our order was duly taken but after a further 20mins 2 teas and a diet coke still hadn't arrived. At this point we decided to cut our losses and head down the road to Bobbys. (The new lounge area at Duck Bay).As a member of Cameron House leisure club I felt embarrassed that eating there was my idea. The level of service was really poor and not in the league of other local places never mind other 5 star establishments.

This is one of the most beautiful and atmospheric bars I have ever been to, which keeps us going back. But unfortunately the standard we experienced a few years ago has slipped. We ordered drinks, then waited for a considerable time and had to remind our waitress about them when she served tea to a couple who were seated some time after us. When food arrived, my salad was missing one of the ingredients and my husbands chips were cold. This was rectified quickly I must add, but it's poor that it was served to us in the first place and not picked up by either the kitchen or wait staff. Having said this, it was dealt with very well as the food was taken off our bill entirely with an apology that things were not up to scratch. The waitress was very friendly but run off her feet. There were very few wait staff for a fair number of guests and people were simply not being attended to.

We're staying as guests at the hotel and have just had a lovely afternoon in the great Scots bar. The setting is beautiful in front of the loch. The decor is very relaxing and lovely. I particularly like the Whisky lockers and Great scots artwork. And we've just enjoyed some of the nicest Espresso martinis! A little pricey but to be expected. Service was excellent. We will be back. Thank you!

As a lodge owner for many years at Cameron house we always love to have a drink in the Scots Bar in the afternoon/early evening before dinner and it has always been a pleasure. However on this occasion we went in for a pint and a cocktail. Whilst the pint was served quite quickly the cocktail took some time, which is fine if both drinks got served together but the pint was served a good 5-8 mins ahead of the cocktail. Not the service you expect of a 5 star hotel bar. The bat staff looked to be very flustered and not in control.

My wife and I spent a couple of days at Cameron House celebrating our 30th Anniversary. The worst thing about this short break was the weather but even that didn't stop us managing to fit in a short walk to Lomond Shores. Then after visit to the leisure pool we made our way to the Great Scots Bar. It is very well names with brilliant black and white photos of all the greats Scots mainly of modern times. I am sure everyone will have someone they think is missing. The out look is fantastic which adds greatly to the atmosphere in the bar. It is very spacious but can get full very quickly. The staff were fantastic on the day we visited and very attentive. I was really surprises by the food too. We both had a ham and mustard sandwich with all the trimmings. I had a pot of tea for two which was great value. I manage to get five full cups from this pot of tea and the last one was just as good as the first. Lunch was rounded of for me with couple of the best fruit scones with cream as jam. I can't wait till the next time we manage to way for a short break in Cameron House and a return visit to the Great Scots Bar.

Whilst staying at the Cameron House Hotel we visited this bar after dinner as we had been informed by the receptionist when booking in that it has an excellent range of whiskies on offer. It is a lovely venue with a large quantity of photographs around the walls of notable Scots. We were fortunate to get a window seat and we enjoyed a glass each of 15 year old Glenlivet which was smooth and sweet whilst enjoying the views over the loch and surrounding countryside.

Limited menu on the face of it, but the quality can't be argued with. The staff are friendly, incredibly attentive and able to facilitate almost any request regardless of it's inclusion on the menu. Would thoroughly recommend this to couples seeking snacks in peace and quiet. It's expensive, but definitely a case of 'get what you pay for'.

This is by far the worst managed bar I have ever visited. After coming to Loch Lomond every year for the past 13 years, there has been a standing joke between our friends that the service cannot be as poor as the year before. This year, we agreed that they have managed to surpass themselves. No point in going into great detail, but as a quick sketch:Coffee being served to the table cold. (The coffee machine was 5 metres from where we were sitting.Drinks orders forgotten.Food orders forgotten.Food orders taking over half an hour to be served (sandwiches…..)The staff of this place were mostly young people who had little experience, but the fact is that the problems at this place are not their fault. Management is to blame and if this was a bar/restaurant operating out on the High Street it would never stay in business. At one point my food order was delivered to another family, who went ahead and ate it all anyway and then ate their order afterwards ! When I pointed this out, the response from the waitress was 'oh…..do you want to reorder then ?'.It's also kept pretty cold in there, to the point where it can get quite uncomfortable. It's such a shame.

The setting and the hotel are wonderful and the drawing room where the tea is served is warm and inviting with excellent lochside views. The food is first class and there's lots of it (a doggy bag is essential). A special mention should go to the lady who serves it who is a credit to the hotel and a positive asset.A great experience.

We routinely stop at the Great Scots Bar when visiting the area, and as it is a 45minutes drive from our house it usually makes for an ideal location for a mid-morning tea interval en route to a further afield destination. We love the cosiness of the bar and the stunning view from the windows overlooking the loch, but on our recent visit I noticed a few tell tale signs which suggest the standard may be slipping slightly (which would be a crying shame). Our recent visit was also the first time we had actually eaten in the bar, and the food was thoroughly delicious. The toasties and sandwiches are piled three stacks thick, and contain absolutely delicious ingredients from obviously top-notch suppliers. My Hot Toasty for example contained really smokey, flavoursome ham, whilst another of our diners raved about his juicy club sandwich. There is probably no need for the side of chips with the toasty due to the enormity of the sandwich itself, but they too were wonderfully enjoyable; thin, crispy and with a generous sprinkling of sea salt.Food wise (and teas and coffees wise) the Great Scots Bar is perfectly suited to such a high-class establishment. However, being a fairly regular visitor, I couldn't help but notice that the place could do with a little bit of a tidy up. Tables were left unwiped and with previous visitors' smudges/ salt/ mess scattered across them, and some of the comfy sofa seats now have ripped leather and appear to be more suited to a car-boot sale as opposed to a five star hotel. There are other faults too which, although not particularly important or noteworthy at first, could detract from the good points for some visitors; for example dirty windows (not to the extent of blocking the wonderful views, but noticeable enough to merit a "I wish they had that cleaned" comment) and the overly strong stench of chlorine which now fills the room which emanates from the nearby leisure facilities. Perhaps this is a result of it being summer and the air vents are now in full flow, but it can be slightly off putting at first and it does detract from the overall grandeur of the place. If I am being rather pernickity (which I guess I am allowed to be given the high prices charged), the service was also on the slow side, and was fairly distant and non-engaging throughout (a common theme if previous reviews are anything to go by). These are all minor gripes, but given there are quite a few of them, I would suggest to the owners that they would merit consideration. This is a wonderful bar serving really high quality food and whiskeys; please do not let it fall into the "average" category by continuing to ignore daily basics or by failing to remedy/ improve the setting. All in all it is still a must visit when in the area, and we will continue to drop in for teas and coffees (and perhaps, now that we know the standard, for some food)...I just hope that the owners start to take a little bit of pride in the place and make it the "Great" Scots Bar again.

Went for some food today (Sunday 15th may) had a lovely meal, the steak ciabatta was delicious. Cannot fault the chef at all!! The service in the bar however is poor!!! We came in and took a table, a waitress called Caprice came and asked for our order, we weren't ready so asked for 2 more minutes. 25 minutes later we had to ask for someone to come and take our order (food and drinks). The order was taken and the supervisor behind the bar (Douglas I think is his name) showed no interest in ensuring our drinks where made and delivered promptly, which for a 5 star hotel, charging what they do, just isn't acceptable, especially when the bar is quiet. So the drinks came and where delivered by Caprice who was very friendly and helpful, also apologising for the delay in ordering. Then I think the supervisor took a dislike to us as he stood and watched us as we poured our own wine and walked past us on several occasions when our plates needed cleared. Only responding to our needs when we had to shout him over to the table. Not very good customer service from a person who is supposed to be setting an example to his staff, who on this day have outshone him by a country mile. Thank you Caprice, you saved our experience!!!

Fri 22 Mar 2014 1630-1650.I own 2x lodges at Cameron house, so I'm up here for 2 whole weeks per year, or more, and usually the service and atmosphere in the Great Scots Bar is great, but THIS WEEK it's been POOR all week. However, this afternoon hit the PITS... we got into the bar at 1630 sharp, to order Cream Tea (possibly "with bubbles" if avail) but for first TEN MINUTES we had NO CONTACT from any of the staff, despite grabbing the attention of THREE separate members of waiting staff, each of whom said "I'l be back in a minute". I gave up, and went looking for staff, waiting at the bar. I eventually managed to distract what appeared to be the MANAGER, who said he'd check with the kitchen as to what was still available, and get back to me. A further 5 minutes later, we GAVE UP and returned to our lodge, and settled for Cava and Cake instead, saving ourselves SIXTY QUID, and losing the Hotel SIXTY QUID of revenue, and a "TERRIBLE" rating on here!!! I'm hoping the current Bar Manager reads this, and realises how bad his/her bar is slipping!!! "Des" (previous Bar Manager) was so much better at YOUR job!!!

If there was an ideal Scots bar, it would be this. Contemporary, cosy and fabulous interior, great staff and jazzy sounds add to the throwback glamour. Will definitely be back.
