Great Indian Food in Hackney

If I could take one dish to a desert island it would be their Dahl. Brilliant food. Good portions. We love it!

I ordered food from this restaurant for the first time today and I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. When I called to ask a few questions, they were extremely helpful and friendly and even suggested their speciality items. For the cost, it was well worth it, plus they have offers on Uber eats! I had the chicken tikka masala, pataka wings and the garlic naan. It was yummy and the wings were a standout! I also got the mini samosas which were really cute and tasty. They even gave me a complimentary dessert and salad! Definitely going to be a staple delivery place for me from now! Thanks a ton!

Excellent from start to finish. The gorgeous aroma as soon as you walk in probably didn't fully prepare me for just how delicious the food was. From the poppadoms all the way to the desserts. Between us all we tried nearly everything on the menu and nothing was a disappointment. Just great. And a super cute Easter dessert

When I’m feeling nostalgic about India, and want a comfort meal, their lamb biriyani and chicken tikka hit their spot! The gulab jamun is good as well :) Big portions to allow for some leftovers as well :)

Ordered via UberEats. Crispy Masala Prawns and Saag Paneer was absolutely delicious! Big chunks of paneer, the size of small potatoes, that can be broken up 4 to 6 times before biting was most memorable when eating the Saag Paneer. If the Saffron pilau rice was not missing, I would be a very very happy camper. They did give white rice as a substitute, but not what I wanted tonight.

Lovely tasting food, favourites were roast lamb tacos, gunpowder wings and the pork belly sliders. Service was great too. Only downside was Chef Jolly wasn't there, will be back for sure!

Rang restaurant as time was increasing on app and they said it would be 2 minutes and had to wait half hour more. The food was lovely though!

Really frustrated as I've had good experiences in the past. We ordered delivery. An hour later, no new updates so I call them. After 7 calls not getting through, I check my emails and see a new one confirming "pick up" even tho I selected delivery. We went to pick it up as we were starving at this point only to discover they've not even bothered making it. So we wait. Finally we get home and the curry and daal are basically like water. The samosas have shrunk significantly and are nowhere near worth £2.50. Really disappointed 😞

I recently had a wonderful dinner at the great indian with my 2 best friends. It was a fabulous because the name reflected exactly what we got Great Indian Food. The staff were excellent, service was good, we got great recommendations for both food and cocktails. The cocktails were excellent strong and not too sugary, really well made. All the dishes we ordered were yummy and different. The meat used in the lamb chops was great quality. All in all a great night and I look forward to my next visit.

I am updating my review because I feel like the tikka masala and butter chicken recipes have been changed, it’s still good but used to be really exceptional! Used to go almost every week but going a bit less now because of that. Also I miss the sweet tangy bang bang prawns! Still a great spot overall

I recently booked with Great Indian Food for some catering for my 30th birthday and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Abdessamad was super responsive on email/Whats App and helpful in working out a menu that worked for the 35 guests and was within budget. Then on the day itself the service provided by Aman and his team was incredibly professional (and friendly). All the food was delicious and super good value - would highly recommend these guys for your catering needs.

Judge a restaurant by its name. Maybe they even need to update their name? Incredible Indian food.

Today, i went to this place and i tried jackfruit biryani which was very delicious and flavourful.They presented it in a very professional way. it was evident that a great deal of thought. each bite was very delightful journey of good taste. Thanks for the good customer service as well as for memorable dinning experience. I eagerly anticipated my next visit with my friends.

Beautiful food and really friendly staff. I can especially recommend the butter chicken and peshwari naan. Only 3 tables inside so mostly takeaway but the takeaway combos are a good deal.

Great place to eat, the staff were very friendly, they played authentic Indian music and the restaurant was warm on a cold evening.

I have unsuccessfully chased a promised refund for a cancelled order for 4 weeks by phone and email.

My review may be a little bit skewed as I was unable to ever dine at this restaurant because they refused to serve me as they do not cater for allergies

Truly great Indian food - very inclusive for vegetarians and vegans!

They started a rewards scheme offering free dishes. I'd almost got a free disharmonie by collecting stamp on a card when they changed to an app. Again I'd almost got a free fish when, again, they stopped the scheme. No warning. The only reason I'd walked there was because of their loyalty scheme. Ironic a they have no loyalty to their customers. Won't be back. There's better food near by with restaurants tasty don't con their customers.

Very small but amazing spot for a quick lunch it takeaway. Lunch box (curry of your choice, rice, and some salad) was amazing (both flavour and price). Service was quick.and place was clean. Both the lamb and chicken curry were the best we’ve had in London so far.

Cozy little shop with three tables. Room is well heated. Service is extremely attentive, for example we received free tap water without asking. Food is a dream! Well spiced, fresh ginger in tikka masala, authentic recipes. Definitely worth a visit!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. We needed somewhere quick, hot and delicious for dinner before a gig and this did not disappoint. Really excellent food, lovely service and the chance to spin a wheel for a freebie! We won a free tarka daal. Great place, highly recommend.

I have previously ordered from here In the past and it was amazing. On this occasion....oh dear! Why have you decided to remove the keema peas from the menu! It was the best thing I'd had! I ordered the lamb curry which was un appetising. The lamb was chewy and tough. The garlic naan was undercooked in places and chewy. It should be light and fluffy. Very disappointed!

An amazing food, stole my heart. Not very close instead exactly Indian food. The chef cooks with full heart and his soul.Staff is so nice, and fast service too. I personally felt its underrated, but it should not be. I truly loved it. And couldn’t believe it was gluten free.

Ordered on Uber Eats. This restaurant was extremely tasty and really good value! The Chicken Tikka had great flavour even in the curry sauce, highly recommend! Got the combo meal for 1.

Well we came to visit our family and since it was an along journey we ordered some food. We thought we were gonna have a nice dinner but it was an hour late. When the food got here it was ok portion sizes weren’t the best for 50 pound. The curry’s were ok and the naan was good. I wish I could see more. I’m not just saying it to criticise in a mean way. My dad owns 2 restaurants and his portion sizes are double.

Aman and his team have catered two private events for us at home and it is hands down the best north Indian / Punjabi food you'll find in London. The team are punctual, polite and all the food is incredible. The fact they come and cook the dishes fresh on site is brilliant. Highly recommend them for any events and can't wait to try their new restaurant when it opens.

Their Butter Chicken is the best in East London. I usually have Tarka Dall with that. It's the only one I frequent in East London. Great food and the people are great. Love it.

Karahi vegetables were awful. Just burning chilli hot with zero flavour. Just no excuse for food cooked without care like this. Pakoras were massively over cooked too. Not impressed

food was quite nice but not worth the 90 minute wait. The app said was delivered but hadn't been and was still another 30 minutes later when it finally arrived. Dal makhani was good but garlic naan a bit thin and all the food slightly cold, had to reheat :(

Staying at the travellodge around the corner so looked on maps for a takeaway curry , and it was delicious , big chunks of lamb & a thick fairy hot sauce , the garlic bread was outstanding also , a picture of the bil is l included so you decided to what you thick to the price xx

My husband and I tried a few dishes here for dinner. We got lamb curry, jackfruit biryani, and naan bread. Everything came out hot and fresh. Lamb curry had a bit of spice in terms of spiciness but it wasn't as spicy when eaten with the biryani or bread. The biryani was aromatic, fragrant, and flavorful even though it was vegetarian. After ordering to eat here, I also noticed that they had dinner combo prices for takeaway only. I appreciate that they gave us lids to take our leftover foods back home. I would definitely recommend this place for delicious Indian foods.

Great food in generous portions - butter chicken is best (make sure you order naan / rice as well) and their biryanis beat other indian eateries I’ve been.

Does what it says on the tin! Really great Indian food! We ate in and the owner couldn’t have been friendlier. Our only regret was that we were going on somewhere where we couldn’t take the leftovers.

Waited two hours for our delivery, fobbed off multiple times over the phone being told it was on its way. Eventually after about 7 phone calls we were told they’d delivered it to our front door (sadly not true, we were stood outside). It’s a shame the service is so poor.
