Great Guns Social in Southwark

I had an outstanding experience at Great Guns Social for our 10 year anniversary. The staff, particularly Pepa, demonstrated excellent communication leading up to the event. Beni and the team ensured everything ran smoothly on the night, from well-set tables with name tags to prompt service of delicious starters and mains. The tiramisu was a delightful finale, and overall, guests thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Booked Great Guns for my birthday party and it was perfect! All the staff from first interaction through to the night itself were really friendly, helpful and reassuring. The aesthetic of the place is great, and really easy to play our own music. The food was superb and the cocktails expertly prepared. It’s also in a really cool little area of London with hotels handy and loads of little bars and cafes which was handy as we made a weekend of it. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Always a pleasure coming here. Brilliant service as always from Beni and Janett. Super friendly and reasonably priced, with great food and even better drinks. By far the best bar in Borough. With some of the best Jack Daniel’s special drinks like Berry Orchard Spritz, never had it before and it blew me away.

Great staff and lovely food and drinks. They had a great selection of wines and cocktails. Food items are limited but it was still yummy. We will come back soon.

Oh my goodness, I almost don’t want to write this review as Great Guns is such a very special hidden gem, that I’m not sure I want to share it with everyone, but it would be a shame for others to miss out ! We had passed several times, our daughter having moved into the local area, and we weren’t sure whether it was open or not . Don’t be put off if you think it is closed, it isn’t and is just fab! Having called in one evening for drinks having realised it was open, we found a really special place . We were made super welcome by the two guys running the place, they were so friendly and helpful we felt very relaxed and chilled. The music soundtrack was super, not intrusive but really good well thought out vibes. The interior was very cool and relaxed, lovely simple. Fresh flowers on the table and the photos adorning the walls set the scene - well worth a look in their own right. A fantastic cocktail menu, a superb house red and wonderfully tasty freshly prepared tapas. The small plates were really very good and couldn’t fault anything we ordered. Great food , great prices. Not to mention they are super dog friendly and made ours dog very welcome with a bowl of water on arrival. It was all really spot on, thank you !

Op weg naar ons restaurant hier even gestopt voor een apero. Erg vriendelijke bediening, ik zei haar dat ik graag verrast werd en kreeg 2 cocktails die niet op de kaart stonden. Heel erg lekker en zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. De huisgebrande nootjes zijn ook echt top!

Visited with friends for a post/pre lockdown bottomless bagel brunch. The bagels themselves were absolutely delicious, especially the guacamole one and there was absolutely no skimping on the amount of alcohol we got given. Staff were so friendly which made for a really fun experience. Hope to return again sometime soon!

This is a lovely friendly bar, great atmosphere. Staff very helpful & friendly, cocktails great & had a cheese board which was tasty. Definitely recommend!

Visited for birthday drinks with a group of friends. I have been to a few cocktail bars before but honestly this place was amazing.. the cocktails were amazing. They tasted so good!! I also found for london pricing it was reasonable. Since we have been I have raved about this place to friends and family! I can’t wait to go back for a hugo and a cheeseboard!!

Rude. Expensive. Cold food, hard boiles vegetables, no salt, no pepper, hard meat like a chewing gum. Warm white wine. very expensive. Service is a big 0. no laugh, no thank you.

Menu regularly changes as chefs rotate in this delightful pub in SE1. Last night had delicious Dolma wrapped in vine leaves, light and fluffy falafel and succulent chicken schwarma. Highly recommended

I love this place the staff a very attentive and the beer and food second to none in the area. Small menu but top quality food . I can highly recommend this place. They have guest chefs which makes this place amazing I can recommend the lamb .. to die for .. keep it up guys ... All the best Tim

Booked on the back of Sunday Brunch. On arrival was not aware that we were on a communal table but fully accept that not being a member of the supper club fraternity that was our fault. That said, the people on our communal table were brilliant and added to our night. The interaction with the guest chef was an unexpected surprise and appreciated. Food was good if not mind blowing. I would definitely encourage you to give it a try. Then we get to the bill. To be on a communal table of the venue’s choice, I did not expect to have to scrutinise the bill. It turned out our bill included 5-6 drinks from my cohorts which became a bit embarrassing. I am far more in the camp of it looks about right, pay, tip, smile and leave. A decent experience, perhaps not to be repeated until the glitches are ironed out.

while my choice on their rather limited menu for me since I am Vegetarian but I have a feeling this is done on purpose. This is not your average bar or pub or restaurant but somewhere different from the norm who make you feel very comfortable. I forgot about the limited menu(another reason it may be thus is that the menu is changed every couple of weeks as also the chefs so I believe. It is well worth a visit as although my comments about the food may be negative this was because I could have done with a larger portion and not necessarily the chefs fault. Call it similar to nouveau cuisine served with a style that is second to none in service presentation style and taste.

found Maria Elia in this friendly neighbourhood pub. off the beaten track it was cosy friendly and has popup chefs throughout the year. reading about Maria i think i got the golden ticket. the food was sensational. seriously awesome. i spotted Jose Pizarro eating with his friend too. i am going back before i head home. staff were friendly and explained the menu with a smile on their faces.

attended a 40th birthday here a couple of weeks ago, whilst I may not be a big drinker any more I was salivating at the shere stock and quality of the stock of the alcohol behind the bar. The whiskey collection alone covers some of the very best rated whiskey and the rums were equal to this too. The decor is bang on trendy, taking in the best of british music artists with the urban industrial look. loved it and the historic architecture of the venue is there for all to see if you look a bit further than the people you are there with. The staff well, the staff make a place and this lot were amazing, I can't say I was waiting for service any more than a couple of minutes and there were about 50 people in the venue. Having oggled up the harder liquor, I can't thank the the head barman more than my rating. You truley have a great place and it would be a pleasure to return in the future.

went with work friends for the samosa pop up as they had already been here and loved it. unfortunately the normal chef was not here on the day we visited but still enjoyed selection of samosas and a jerk chicken and paneer lasagne between us....

Live local and have been meaning to try this place for ages - so glad we called in!! Cocktails were fantastic and the food was amazing. Highly recommend and we will be back.

We booked Great Guns Social for our end of term dinner and could not have asked for a better venue. The food, cocktails and wine were excellent. The staff were lovely - especially Oliver. The atmosphere and ambience were also great. Excellent wall art too....

Went to Great Guns Social yesterday evening for drinks and snacks. Lovely wine and an excellent cocktail list. Beautifully designed and really efficient but relaxed service. Have booked for lunch! Highly recommended.
