Was curious to try @grazingbymarkgreenaway at the @caledonianedinburgh and had a good evening there. The staff were attentive and friendly, and explained each dish in detail. Most people seemed to be guests at the hotel, but given the convenient location and the spacious seating, it’s definitely a place that more people can consider when dining with friends or colleagues.

They made our anniversary even more special than we imagined with remarkable hospitality and food that would have you thinking about it a week later! Exceptional service and delicious food! Don’t hesitate to book this restaurant for your stay in Edinburgh. My husband and I booked Grazing by Mark Greenaway to celebrate our anniversary dinner in Edinburgh. Service: We arrived early and were warmly greeted by Elena who then promptly seated us. She walked us through the menu noting our allergies and gave us great recommendations. Our other server Nitin was also provided excellent service, was very polite, cheerful and very helpful. Not only were the staff helpful with our menu recommendations and questions, they both kindly asked us about our stay and recommended us some local gems that they enjoys and tours to go on. They were immensely helpful and kind. Service for food was also relatively quick despite ordering the Beef Wellington. Overall, the service was better than some of the Michelin stars I have dined at. Food: My husband and I thought this was the best meal we have had on our trip so far (6 days in). We ordered the treacle and stout sourdough (£3), Beef Wellington (to share; £90) and the Roasted Duck Breast (£34). Sourdough - The sourdough was one of the best bread I’ve had. It arrived very warm and blanketed so it doesn’t loose the heat. The crust was satisfyingly crunchy and the inside springy and soft, absolutely worth the £3. Beef Wellington - simply put, exquisite. This Beef Wellington tasted better than what we tried at Gordon Ramsay’s Bar & Grill. The meat was tender, juicy and flavorful. The mushrooms were well executed and flavorful. The crust was a stunning golden and was very flakey. Even without the wine jus, this dish was a winner. Full of flavor! This dish is meant to be shared but it is doable for one to tackle it on their own and leave bursting at the seams full. For example my husband ordered it and I ate about a quarter and he was so so full! Roasted Duck Breast - juicy and succulent Duck breast with flavors that really meld together! The morel mushroom portion was very tasty, earthy and flavorful and complimented the Duck breast and Star Anise jus! My only qualm would be the single asparagus as I wished there would be 2 or 3 on the plate to finish the dish. This menu item is plate scraping good! Sticky Toffee Pudding - we were recommended to try this dessert by the staff and they were on the money. Delicious take on sticky toffee pudding as it’s presented as a soufflé. The flavors worked together well and had us stuffing our mouths even when we were so full from the main course!

Excellent hospitality right from the moment you walk in. Very warm welcome and highly attentive friendly service from Eva. The food is clearly French influenced British cuisine. We dined at Grazing twice as we stayed at The Caledonian hotel 4 nights. First dining experience was excellent. Our last night at the hotel we decided to go back to Grazing. It did not meet it’s previous expectations. My husband ordered filet mignon medium rare and it was brought to him very well done. They fixed it, however I had finished my dinner well before he was served his new dinner. They comped him one glass of wine. I think they could have done a little better on that one. The manager Nitten, was our server and attempted to charm us. He was very polite, but it was a bit over done. Then I ordered a tea, of which Nitten recommended we have it in the main tea room of the hotel. With no intention of ordering anything more than tea, Nitten convinced my husband to try a particular scotch. This being our last of 6 nights in Scotland, he was completely scotched out. However my husband conceded, it was a very good recommendation, but very expensive. I thought the manager was offering the scotch to make up for the dinner disaster, but he did not. It’s the little things that make a big difference. Too bad Nitten didn’t catch how he could have remedied the situation. We are seasoned travelers and I only post something that stands out….positive or negative.

We were there for dinner and had the prawn toast as a starter and the beef wellington as our main course. For dessert we had the cheese variations. There's really only one thing you can say about it: SENSATIONAL. 😊The wines recommended by the service went perfectly. Overall, we felt well looked after and had a wonderful stay. At late hours the noise level increases, which is a bit of a shame. If you value excellent cuisine, you've come to the right place. Thanks to the grazing team.👍

We visited for the taster menu Ham Hock Beetroot Lamb pie Cauliflower Pie Trifle I ordered the Beetroot and Lamb but Oh No I couldn't have that 🤷‍♀️ I had to have either the Ham and Lamb or the Beetroot and Cauliflower! I questioned it but that was what it had to be and no explanation as to why. 5 items on the menu and they won't serve your choice - it just seemed crazy. The staff were delightful and the room was nice but pretty empty which sapped any atmosphere - but with that experience I'm not surprised. The food was nice enough but we won't be back.

Food was really great! Service was not and unnecessarily so which was a shame. We have booked a “valentine’s menu” for 4, 2 couples. We had a number of dietary requests which I have specified. No one called and asked or said it’s an issue…I thought I will email to ask if they can be accommodated just in case (as otherwise we book something else) - no reply, I called - was told I will be contacted in case it can’t be sorted - no call. We came to the reception - funny joke from the reception lady saying they have previously accommodated 18/19 dietary requirements (we have just a few). Sat at the table to be told we can’t have the menu as our requirements can’t be accommodated….and email was sent, no email I checked up until the dinner. Tricky, weird, unaccommodating. I both called and emailed myself in advance, what else can I do!!! :( We wanted a 6 course experience tasting menu, what we got is a glass of champagne and an “email should have been sent.” Oh, and GF bread was in a plastic packaging like on a plane.

From the moment we entered this restaurant, we were treated as very welcome guests. Polite, friendly, knowledgeable staff made us feel so special. It is easy to see where this comes from, as Nitin, the Maitre’ D is a true professional, with a keen eye for detail and a great sense of humour. What a wonderful atmosphere. This was our first visit and it couldn’t have been more pleasant. Elena, the lovely Sicilian assistant , shared her knowledge of Italian wines and of her beautiful Country (definitely on our bucket list). We had a friendly, super efficient waitress who recommended her favourites from the menu. The food was delicious, starters of soft shell crab and kedgeree, followed by a perfectly cooked beef wellington with all the trimmings. Good hearty fare, special, but not over the top . We even squeezed in the most delicious dessert of apple strudel with home made ice cream. Top marks to this fabulous restaurant. Will we return? You bet we will!

The dinner we had here was next level good. We ordered from the a la carte menu. All of the dishes felt like elevated, fresh takes on classics, with a little bit of a twist that just took everything to the next level. The presentation of each dish was beautiful and our waiter Ben was lovely and attentive, making for a really memorable meal. The sticky toffee pudding souffle was an absolute marvel, one of the best desserts we’ve ever had. We were traveling and so we came dressed in jeans and sweaters, but we felt rather underdressed. If we lived closer and could go back, we would dress up more!

7 Jun 2023 Restaurant served local ingredients which are someway traditional but with a modern twist. Overall was a pleasant experience with good food, cozy atmosphere and very attentive staff. I went for Mark's snack consisting of mini beef tartare, home-cured halibut, and beetroot + whipped goat curd tartlet. Beef tartare was quite disappointing ... even for bite size, this was the most pathetic amount I saw and the tarragon sauce kind of killed the meat taste... BUT instead the halibut was perfectly cured and really delicious. My mom ordered the home-cured salmon for her starter and was also amazingly cured as well - perfectly tasty and having the nice raw-ish texture that you wouldn't get tired of! I also tried the kedgeree (my new found love during this trip) as part of my starter and though I did like the taste, it was a bit too saucy for my liking. I would have prefered it to be dry... but I think this is totally a personal choice. For the main, I went for rare breed pork chop but I was not impressed. Pork was very good piece of meat and tasty, but the doneness was not up to my standard... I had better pork chop which was even more tender. My family members all went for lamb loin, and that I say was very nicely done - bursting with lamb flavour but tender! The shoulder sandwich flavoured with harissa on the side was also perfect. I should have gone for that as well. For dessert, I've ordered sticky toffee pudding souffle... Though very sweet, souffle made it feel lighter :)

Below average experience (went on 19th May): we had to chase for wine/water top up all evening (as they did not leave our drinks on the table) and the mushroom ragout main course was not enjoyable at all. But the worst was a group of 10/15 loud customers that ruined the whole experience (many tables had to leave because of them) and the staff did nothing to stop them from shouting, singing and dancing on the tables!!! Would have expected definitely more for a (so called) fine dining restaurant.

This is a stylish and airy restaurant situated by the stunning Waldorf Astoria hotel in the centre of Edinburgh. We had the five course tasting menu with matching wines. Food was lovely and the welcoming staff happily catered for dietary requirements highlighted when we booked. The pairing wine option was, unfortunately, a bit underwhelming. At £50 pp, this was a more expensive pairing we have had. Yes, the wine was nice enough, but little information was given as to why it was paired, other than a brief introduction the waiting staff had rehearsed. I'd have hoped for more than "this is light and fruity" and perhaps a slightly larger glass given the price. We took advantage of a 50% off food voucher. Otherwise, this would have been a £230 meal. Is it worth this much? I don't think so.

I returned again yesterday, my second visit was every bit as enjoyable as the first. This time, it was Nitin who ensured we were well looked after. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wines. --------------------------- A really enjoyable night out. First class tasting menu with beautifully matched wines. It was great to see the restaurant so busy in these challenging times. Staff were friendly and welcoming, in particular Anna who was so enthusiastic about making the evening a great experience for my friend and myself. I would highly recommend and I will definitely be back.

Went here as a celebration and the service here was impeccable and the restaurant had a really nice ambience. The food here was absolutely amazing and portion size although on the smaller size was just enough. My husband and I had a rare child free night out and I'm so glad we spent it here. The food was just delicious, my husband opted for the ham hough starter and the flavours were amazing - the smoked cheese doughnut was out of this world! I went for the soft shell crab, which was also lovely and a really good sized portion. We then shared the beef wellington and had the pomme anna and spinach sides. The beef was cooked to perfection and the pastry was nice and crisp, the red wine jus finished it off beautifully. We then had the pavlova and sticky toffee souffle to finish...both again were great. For drinks we opted for a bottle of the grenache noir, which was really nice and the espresso martinis were lovely and smooth. The service was also impeccable, Nitin was so funny and really made our night extra enjoyable. If you are after really good food, in a relaxed atmosphere - I highly recommend this place.

Fantastic from start to finish, all of the staff were so welcoming and really made it a memorable experience. Nitin was such a nice guy and knew the perfect balance of interacting with customers and leaving them to enjoy their meal. I took my girlfriend and we both opted for the tasting menu, if you do the same I suggest paying the extra from the crab course. Really interesting and tasty. We both opted for the wine flight to accompany our tasting menu. The sommelier wasn’t pretentious and really knew his stuff, he was smiley and had a laugh with us which we appreciated. Each course was tasty and well presented. I would 100% return in the future. Well done to the whole team!

I had dinner with my son there yesterday and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We had the tasting menu accompanied with wine selection. It is pricey but worth it for special occasions. My favourite was the wild mushroom and hazelnut ragu with a glass of Gruner veltliner. Staff was very attentive and the room dark and gothic.

Bien reçu par Héléna,nous avons cependant été très déçus à la fois par le service et les mets très peu subtil, gastronomique raté qui essaie par la petitesse des mets trop sucrés ou salés, trop tout mais peu raffinés, ayant fait de nombreux restaurants gastronomiques je déconseille fortement le menu "surprise" ,qui n'a d'autre surprise que l'attente d'un met surprenant en goût. Restaurant pas a la hauteur de son image.

I went in with slightly lower expectations given the restaurant was connected to a hotel. I was happily surprised when the quality of the food exceeded the prices. The soft shell crab started was fried perfectly and was delivered piping hot. The mushroom ragu entree was fantastically rich and well seasoned for a non meat entree. The fish and chips was very well prepared and seasoned as the mushy peas were well balanced and cut through the fattiness of the fish. The chocolate tart was unimpressive and should be reworked or removed from the menu. Service was very attentive and professional as you would expect from a good fine dining restaurant. Only other item is the cocktails are quite expensive relative to other bars and restaurants that are immediately competitive.

Was here for a late Sunday lunch - the food was really beautiful, wonderfully seasoned and generous portions. The desserts in particular were stunning, and great fun. But the staff were the real standout of the experience; Shona and Stewart were attentive, funny and consistently pleasant. I would go back in an instant, and recommend happily to anyone looking for a smart, special meal at a reasonable price.

We had a wonderful dinner here. The beef Wellington was epic and 100% worth the price. Also we had an espresso martini and an old fashioned both were excellent. My fiancé claimed the espresso martini was the best she had ever had. ( high praise from the high sparrow) next time we’re in town we will no doubt return.

Although the meal itself was exceptional we were VERY DISAPPOINTED that when we asked to have our coffees next door in Peacock Alley we were told there was no seats yet within 10minutes the adjacent table asked the same and were taken through. Surely if a seat had become available we should have been given the option to move through or remain in the restaurant. This really let down an otherwise lovely evening and will definitely play a big part in our decision to return.

We booked dinner for Christmas. Since the day we made the reservation we asked if they have vegetarian options as two of the four attending were vegetarians and they said yes. They charged us US$250 per person and honestly the dinner was simple, blend, and the vegetarian options horrible, they offered grilled aubergine as the main dish, even at home we have more creativity for vegetarian dishes, and we paid the same for the regular menu and the vegetarian. On top of that, they charged us for the water and coffee consumed. I found it disrespectful, for what the charged, water and coffee should be included. I have been in a couple of Michelin stars restaurant, never dissapointed, but in this occasion, they play with the name of the chef but their offer is poor, lack of creativity, lack of flavor and way to expensive for what you get. In my opinion, just a hotel restaurant to get buffet breakfast but nothing else. Totally disappointing.

Unprofessional and not clear with their rules, didn't let people in for being under 18, even tho the event organisers made it clear that it's for under 18 aswell. The guard / one in charge/ jennie was also SMOKING INSIDE THE BUILDING.

The noodles were excellent thick and chewy. The braised beef brisket was full of flavour, tender and bitey. The broth was very flavourful. It retained clear nourishing quality. If you look for a freshly- made beef noodle soup in Edinburgh, look no further. It is a place you simply must try.

First night of Lotus Leith was fab… Thai prawns… the juiciest satay chicken… flavourful fluffy bao buns and homemade dumplings and spring rolls 😊 All served with the tastiest asian slaw that I’d happily scoff a bowl of on its own…. Give it a try. Can’t wait to see how the menu develops 😊

Went to watch the rugby with friends and have food. Staff were very attentive and helpful. As a vegan the menu was good with plenty of choice . Will be back for sure . Our waiter was rob and he couldn’t have been more helpful
