No volveré

It’s a fantastic concept what they have going on with the fair trade and vegan options etc but lacking something. Breakfast menu is on the table all day but there isn’t any other menu available, there’s fancy boards which say what food they do but it isn’t too clear? Quite expensive for what it is

The concept is actually good and I like how the place is decorated. I went twice all I can say is the staff lacks of enthusiasm and professionalism. 1st time: I got in and NO ONE greeted me or approached to me,so I took a seat and checked the menu. Breakfast menu were still on the table at 4 P.M. and only pizzas and starters were available. If you want to know any other options, such as sandwiches ,drinks ,cakes you have to go to the till and ask ( imagine how bad would be for someone disabled). I got a chicken salad for £6: THE WORST SALAD I’VE EVER EATEN. It was full of cheddar cheese and the chicken was a bit dry. 2nd time: I came back after a month and had a sandwich with avocado, tomato, feta and vegan mayo. It was well toasted and good tasted. Unfortunately the staff is a bit rude and unprofessional. I’ve waited for 5 mins to get a slice of cake and a girl that came after me,got priority for no reason. I had to pay by my met card and the guy DARED TO ASK ME TO PASS HIM THE CARD READER THAT WAS AT THE OTHER TILL. At the begging I thought he was talking to his colleague, since he was by it and wasn’t doing anything , but then he asked me again so I gave it to him. That’s really rude and disrespectful,in my opinion. The food is ok,you can save money by preparing it at home to be honest, but the staff has to change attitude!

We arrived at 12:05 with 2 small children and found a table. The breakfast menu finishes at 11, they only serve pizzas after 2. So we asked the waitress what food they had for the children. She was rude but informed me they were still doing breakfast. They don’t have any gluten free food on the breakfast menu. So my husband and I settled for a coffee and a brownie but after a quick mental calculation worked out there were not enough plates for the brownie options. So I asked what gf brownies she had, but was told to look at the counter. We ordered 2 flat whites, 2 brownies and a toasted sandwich for my son. Then I was informed they didn’t have the gf brownie we ordered. But when I tried to explain that’s why I had asked for clarification, i was snapped at. We finally got 1 brownie and the toastie, which were delicious. But they had clearly forgotten about the coffees. It took 35 minutes. I did get an explanation but no apology. The ethos, ambience and the local product/ fair trade is a great concept, but sadly this place doesn’t deliver.

As it's close to my home I often drop into grano for a coffee and it's perfect if you want over priced and average fare served by ambivalent staff. That's my best review.

This place gets the two things right that are important to me. They serve good quality coffee and have decent selection of cakes ( I recommend the dark cherry brownie). The place itself has a very relaxed, laid back feel to it.

Went in at a reasonably quiet time yet felt very understaffed. There was a rush just 10 minutes afterwards and then staff appeared. Arrived after breakfast had stopped but only breakfast menus were out. Fancy decorated signs are fine but hard to read - especially when they tell you how to queue, order etc! Needs to be clear. Had a nice wrap - but the vegan things weren't actually vegan (thankfully vegetarian so wasn't a problem) but can imagine that not going so well. Nice staff who obviously realised they were not prepared but made a relaxed atmosphere. Drinks nice but served a little cold.

I went here with my partner this week (Wednesday) - we'd visited a while ago for a coffee but wanted to go back and enjoy something to eat. It was pretty quiet when we got there (around 1pm) - there were only around 4 other customers sitting down and no one else was queuing so we expected to be served pretty swiftly. We had to wait for staff to serve us at the sandwich bar. The staff member who served us was very abrupt and bad tempered to both myself and my partner. Once we'd been served our wraps we sat at our table and waited for a drink and dessert. The other staff member who brought these to the table didn't make eye contact or say a word as they plonked them down on our table. Your staff seriously need training in customer service. The food was okay, but I wouldn't eat here again or recommend it to anyone. Poor service, rude staff and overpriced food especially considering it's on a university campus. Aside from the quirky decor, there's nothing appealing about this place.

Fabulous independant-style place. I tried something new..'steak' and guiness , wijth rice and salad... Steak was actually jackfruit... Never even heard of it. Im not a veggie, but was pleasantly surprised... Apparently, it soaks up the sauce well and has consistancy of meat product... Well worth a dabble. The place is uniquely adorable and a must visit.

I completely agree with the review that says that they should try harder. Even though I would agree that Hulme needs more bars and restaurants (the amount of pubs closed in recent times is catastrophic), I am worried about these kind of businesses being the future of the neighborhood/city. While the staff are friendly and attentive, and a coffee or wine can be enjoyed by the window, the food is bland and you can see that there is not much effort and love on it. A soft, dry ciabatta with three tiny pieces of meat, more boiled than roasted, and the plainest salad ever at almost £7 doesn't make my mouth watering. I know that it's a cafe and not a restaurant, but i asked for butter, sauce and the juices from the roasting pan and couldn't make the butty much tastier. It was basically bread. But I guess this is what we get when most food across Manchester is being prepared by untrained students and all the new venues designed to squeeze their student loans. Also, paella, really? That's got nothing to do with paella!! The same meats used for the sandwiches with yellow rice is not paella. Rice with meat and/or veggies maybe, but not paella. We love marketing, don't we? The atmosphere is kind of cosy, but nothing especial, just another cloned trendy bar sent straight from the Northern quarter. Entrepreneurs of Manchester, please: stop trying so hard to be cool and put some love in what you do!!

A small courtyard area with picnic tables, a couple of small catering vans on site one sells food the other coffee, public toilets available and a watering place for dogs. It is a very popular place and can get very busy.
