Italian restaurants are often disappointing with a long menu of favourites prepared to british palates. Grano offers a short menu of stunning authentic Italian food. The bruschetta was a conversation stopper as it demanded a silence to savour the flavours. Rigatoni was freshly made and cooked perfectly al dente with fiery cacio e pepe sauce elevated further with crispy fried guanciale. Tiramisu and frozen limoncello to finish left us sated and delighted to have found such a gem.

We had both lunch and 2 evening meals here and can’t praise the restaurant and staff enough. The menu isn’t extensive but more than enough tempting choices. The staff were extremely attentive and gave great suggestions for food and drink choices. We were not hurried to finish and we were greeted with a warm welcome back each time. It’s a real gem of a find.

Fantastic restaurant, with a neat and simple menu that gives you a genuine taste of great Italian cooking. Super friendly and welcoming staff who coped with our party of 11 admirably all evening. My only beef was with the lack of alcohol in the Tiramisu, it's lovely without but so much better with.

If you like to visit independent restaurants where great care is taken over the sourcing, preparation and cooking of dinner then this place will be right up your street. Authentic home-made cooking in a fabulously cosy restaurant with great service. I have no hesitation in giving this the highest recommendation for anyone passing through Bristol like I was this month. A special thanks to Levi who made the whole evening a total joy.

Despite the pleasant ambiance, our dining experience was marred by the by the unfriendly attitude of the staff (he initiated an unnecessary debate about the booking). The service was disappointingly slow and lacked attentiveness, even though the restaurant was not busy. Waiting an hour for our pasta was frustrating, to say the least. Furthermore, while the food was passable, it failed to rise above average. Regrettably, based on this experience, I have no intention of returning to this restaurant.

Fantastic! Authentic Italian food, which you can see being prepared. Tasty and reasonably priced. We had lasagne, pizza and a wonderful bowl of mixed salad. Can't fault it

Impromptu walk in pre comedy show at the Wardrobe Theatre. Really impressive, fab staff and really lovely, dare I say 'authentic' food. Highly recommended and would definitely seek it out next time in Bristol.

Took a friend out for their leaving do and shared a few starters, olives and had a main course each. As well as all the food being excellent the service was excellent where you didn’t feel rushed but knew you had attention if you needed anything. A very nice relaxing spacious venue with friendly staff.

Been looking forward to coming to eat here since they moved to this corner site in Old Market. Everything we had was really well made; Vitello Tonato was the best Ive ever had. My wife's main course Gnocchi she declared delicious. All food was great. The staff were friendly. At the end Alberto came out for a quick chat and offered us his home made limoncello - it was yummy! We have already planned a return visit.

The best decision I could ever made was to walk in for lunch, before catching a bus. I was greeted by Levi, whom gave me a really good presentation of the restaurant and its delicacies; well done. That's how you set the initial vibe. I ordered an amazing garlic bread, and marinara pizza. Being highly satisfied by the experience, I booked a table for dinner the same day. I entered the premises at dinner, and I was escorted to my table. Camilla and Levi took care of me from start to finish. Again, great introduction to the menu, carried out in a very friendly way. I ordered garlic bread as a starter again, but I tried gnocchi as a main course this time. I filled up the little angle of room left in me with a refreshing lemon sorbet, followed by a coffe and amaretto on the rocks. I furthermore treated myself with a nice espresso martini, sitting at a table outside and enjoyed the fresh air. I've given you five stars because I couldn't give you more. On the overall, this dining experience is the best I've had in years here in Bristol. As an hospitality worker with more than six years of experience, as a kitchen porter, pizza chef and waiter, I would like to encourage you to keep the passion alive. The observing of my surroundings led me to notice that: Staff members treat each other with respect, which means cooperation exponentially increases. Communication to one another never escapes the backstage, leaving the customer relaxed, in a cuddly and calm atmosphere mantained by the warmth of a good front of house. The chatter from the kitchen remains as indistinct as from the rest of the place, and that's really impressive. Even though the restaurant is busy, the chefs look really at ease and dedicated to what they do, free from any need to rush. That result in good food made with love, and served reasonably quicker than one could expect. The ingredients are refined and balanced to their best even in the simplest recipe, giving Grano's dishes' flavours a unique notation mark, which is - and must remain - the ultimate proof of passion and attention to details. Last but not least I deeply thank the bartender for that sweet espresso martini, it almost got married with my ciggy. On the overall, I can say without any doubt that the key virtues that makes Grano what it is are, simplicity, humbleness, patience, dedication. Such a qualities in us can't help but to positively shape whatever we do, and inspire whoever is around us. When a people with these values team up, harmony reverberates on the quality of food and environment. I thank the entire team wholeheartedly. Special thanks to Levi and Camilla for the very sweet service. And last but not least, thanks to Alberto, for his wise choices as an entrepreneur so far, and his efforts as a leader whom - I have the right to believe - is always there to guide the team. Sincerely yours

Wasn't sure what to expect but the food was so so good! We shared a few small plates (Burrata, arancini balls), both delicious. I then had the 'cavatelli all’amatriciana w/ guanciale, fresh tomato sauce and pecorino', simply amazing. that crispy pancetta on the top is on my mind a lot! My friend had the Sorrentina Gnocci, again great. Lovely little restaurent, great food. ive told numerous people to go try it. Only negative was it was a bit cold as the door was open.

Simple but delicious as authentic Italian cuisine! This was my third time dining at Grano. We tried gnocchi alla Sorrentina and ravioli with ricotta and spinaches. Both dishes were very tasty and made with fresh ingredients. The slow cooked tomato sauce is just to die for!

My partner and I were pleasantly surprised to stumble across Grano recently. We were visiting Bristol and as it wasn't very central we were struggling to find somewhere to eat. The decor was nothing special so we we were not expecting anything particularly good but in the end we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The Mediterranean Anchovies were a tasty, salty starter and the Pappardelle Nerano Pasta with fried courgettes, provola cheese, butter and basil was a really enjoyable dish. It's worth trying out and supporting an independent business.

I have had a wonderful experience at Grano! I booked a table for me (vegetarian) and my boyfriend who is gluten intolerant, and we were given plenty of choices for starters and mains. I'm Italian myself and I definitely recommend Grano. We enjoyed everything, the atmosphere is very pleasant, we'll definitely come back!

I love Italian food, but the food here was bland and a bit dull. To start the garlic bread was pan -bread, dense and smeared with a LOT of roasted garlic paste - slightly cloying flavour. Bit weird. I had crab filled pasta and the pasta itself was lovely, but the sauce lacked depth of flavour sadly. The tiramisu was watery and again i was underwhelmed as it lacked flavour. Everything needed something. I'd expect the flavour from home cooking but not a restaurant. The positives were: Fabulous wine and really really lovely service,

Pure Pasta is in Saint Nicholas Market and is run by a lovely, friendly, Italian couple. The food is tasty and excellent value, whether you take away or eat inside the small unit/the couple of tables just outside. The pair of us left feeling pleasantly full and with change from £20 despite having a couple of 'starters', main meals and a can of diet coke each.

Food was nice enough (mainly the tiramisu) but the service was painfully slow and inattentive, despite there being two staff covering at max 4 tables. Somehow took 2.5 hours to have 3 courses as a table of 4. My friend had booked an indoor table given the weather (it was raining) but we were told it had to be outside because they wouldn't be able to check on us inside given that the one other party there was outside... Took a long time for them to take our orders, and then for drinks/food to arrive. Our food arrived before the cutlery so the pasta was lukewarm by the time they had brought out all our dishes (this took an oddly long time between each person's dish) plus the cutlery. We could see inside and could see the two waiters just hanging out, not doing anything. It was such a strange experience.
