Granny's Kitchen in Ceredigion

We were back from a long walk in the local area and were served very quickly for a late lunch on a Sunday. Delicious milkshake and toasted sandwiches, nothing fancy just inexpensive well cooked food. Great tea and cakes also. We will be back again when next on holiday. Staff very friendly and attentive.

Granny's kitchen is excellent. We only visit cafes that are dog friendly and Granny's goes the extra mile to welcome dogs. He's part of us and he loves Granny's in Lampeter. The food is excellent, the service is excellent. We love coming to you x

Having been living in the town of Lampeter, my husband and I (and dog) have been regulars at Granny’s Kitchen for over 4 years… new ownership took over and we have been consistent in supporting them. However, our recent experience on a Saturday morning (whilst entertaining family from out of town) was absolutely dreadful! I appreciate it was a busy morning and would have been willing to turn a blind eye to the standard of food (when they still didn’t get it right after being returned to kitchen, and one member of our party being totally forgotten about)… My biggest concern and disappointment was the level of customer service from Lilly (supposedly in charge). It was absolutely atrocious! We wanted to explain to her that we hadn’t had a good experience, but all she wanted to focus on was a hash brown which was served to us still frozen (which was the very least of our problems). She then dismissed us as being in the way, as she had customers to serve. I/we were absolutely shocked at the level of customer care. Her only words were “if you don’t want to pay, then don’t!” I would have happily paid, as I always want to support local businesses and, again, that wasn’t the issue! We ended up leaving without paying which did not sit well with me! Having been a regular for such a long time, I found the customer experience to be beyond disappointing! Needless to say, I have found elsewhere to dine.

After waiting 30 minutes to get drinks, which were stewed. We cancelled our food and left. Tables that came in after got served before us. Under staffed so not their fault.

The coffee and breakfast were fabulous. The staff were very friendly and polite. We will definitely be returning.

5 of us got the last available table & I can see why it's so busy. Great food & lovely staff, am looking forward to the next time.

Visted Lampter and had lunch. Extensive lunch menu, food very good and well cooked. Has Wifi. Clean and excellent service. Very good value. Could not fault anything. My partner had a huge all day breakfast I had delicious pannini. Also in cafe lounge area.

Ordered Welsh rarebit, one piece of bread which looked like it had some kind of grey sludge spread on it. Took ages for the food to arrive as well. I will not be returning.

Granny's kitchen is excellent. The service is good and the good is lovely but what makes it so special is the welcome for dogs. Our dog is part of our family and it's lovely to have him with us. We go to Aberaeron each year and have visited Granny's in Lampeter for several years. Keep doing what you are doing

Didn't wait. Service dreadfully slow. No customer service whatsoever. Customers who came in after us were then served before us although he knew we were next. We had already been waiting 20 minutes and it wasn't even busy. Totally ignored us. Took him 10 minutes to prepare 2 coffee's and juices. Food we noticed was also slow coming out. Such a shame as it use to be nice there. Doubt we will return unless there are more staff on serving or they are trained on customer service.

Lovely quaint cafe with very friendly staff. Definitely recommend for a light or full breakfast. Lucky to find this cafe on the way home from Aberaeron. Will stop here again.

we had some lovely cawl here before but yesterdays wasn't good at all , my husband had veg cawl and it was just carrot and potato with no taste at all , very poor , and mine was beef cawl it had two small pieces of beef the rest again was potato and carrot , disapointing to say the least and £17 50 for both it was poor value fot money , i sugest they change supplier and get a better quality product

Fantastic staff food and service. We traveled from Cornwall. Our dog was made very welcome. Food was amazing. Even my fussy eater son was left satisfied. Would definitely return and recommend.

Just had a fabulous Omelette (Cheese & Mushroom with added Potato & Red Onion), asked for additional vinaigrette to pour over the omelette, absolutely delicious. My girlfriend I’m sure only visits me to come to Granny’s for the poached eggs on toasted bun with lemon butter sauce and two slices of bacon.

Disappointed Came for the last two visits and it's just not the same anymore. Paninis were rock hard and very dry. I ordered a chicken bacon mayo panini - no mayonnaise. This has happened twice. My husband ordered the all-day breakfast it came out and was cold. We weren't the only ones who complained but was still charged full price £25 for the privilege of a bad meal. We've decided we won't be returning.

My hubby and I had a lovely dinner at Granny’s last night to celebrate Valentine’s Day. This is a place I often meet friends for coffee/lunch which is always superb, so when I saw them advertising a 3 course dinner for £25 and open on Valentine’s evening booked it straight away after my hubby had seen the menu choice. We were not disappointed. The tables were decorated so lovely with roses confetti and two little paper roses made from heart serviettes. My hubby had chosen French onion soup topped with sourdough + Gruyère cheese, then lamb chops with red wine gravy, fresh mint and veggies, then crumble + custard for dessert. I chose prawn/avocado with Marie sauce to start, then salmon fillet with roasted root veggies and for dessert beautiful berry pavlova with icecream. The whole meal was tasty and delicious. The service was friendly, courteous and efficient making it a very enjoyable evening in the heart of Lampeter town. This lovely restaurant is to be highly commended for its food and friendliness. We had loads of suggestions via a FB page for walks and places to eat but not many suggestions for breakfast. Came across Granny’s Kitchen via a search and was not disappointed. We visited Granny’s Kitchen today after driving through Lampeter and spotting it, so decided to stop for a spot of lunch. I was blown away by how lovely and friendly all the staff were, I’m always dubious about going in places as we have a 6 month old cockapoo and she can be a little giddy at times, but the girls working made us feel so welcome. As soon as we sat down they brought us a bowl of water for the dog and some biscuits, which she loved and we thought was just the cutest thing. We ordered a coffee, milkshake and 2 sandwiches and I have to say the food was wonderful! The sandwich were an amazing size and came with a lovely side salad and coleslaw, the presentation was lovely and everything tasted amazing. The atmosphere of the place was lovely, a cute traditional tea room, and I’ll 100% be recommended anyone to visit here if they are passing. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Lovely space, friendly staff and good food. We had a mushroom baguette with extra avocado. The bread could have been better (crispier) and it was quite expensive for what it was but we also had a full vegan breakfast, which was nicely presented and of good quality.

This has become our 'go to place' plenty of other places in town but by far our favouite all the Lads in my family would recommend Granny's big breakfast at any time of day

We popped in for lunch on a Thursday having arrived in Wales for a long weekend. I had the sweet chilli chicken flatbread and my partner had the large breakfast. Orders are taken at the counter and the staff speak both Welsh and English. The food is freshly cooked and arrived well presented. Both meals were filling and tasty. My only slight negative was the drinks were not quite hot enough, admittedly I could have taken them back.The interior is quite unique creating a great ambiance and place to sit and chat. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in town. They offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.

I was taken to Grannie's Kitchen by a friend. From outside the the building is unassuming, once inside it is quite lovely, Spacious, nicely laid out, clean toilets not to mention helpful staff. The number of food options were available was reasonably good, with items like fresh made scone still being bought out at 2pm. I ordered a panini that came with it's own mini dressed salad, plus a bowl of wedges. The food was very good, but it was over priced for what is just standard fare. I would consider going there again as a "treat" once a year, but not for weekly / monthly outings, too pricey.

I popped in for a coffee after an appointment, the atmosphere was cosy and people seem to be enjoying their food, the staff are friendly and it seemed nothing was to much for them to help their customers.

Nothing was to much trouble for the staff all your needs catered for, a very pleasant and comfortable atmosphere, food to had a good variety reasonably priced and enjoyable.

Were looking for a dog friendly cafe and found this place. They were lovely and had no problem with our 2 greyhounds. The teacake and welsh cakes were just what we needed as were the dog biscuits for the dogs. Would recommend you call in for a while. Would definately go again.

Table cloth was very dirty and creased, with crumbs all over it. Asked for 2 cream teas. To be told by a very rude lady, that 24 hours notice is to given if requesting cream teas. So I asked for a tuna jacket potato, to then be told that it was 3.20 pm and I hadn't got much chance of getting a jacket poyatoe at that time of day. So I ordered 2 toastie. The toastie was well filled and nice. The side salad was dreadfully. The lettuce was slimy and brown. Didnt look very goo at all. I didnt enjoy my experience there and would never go there again.

Called here recently whilst passing through Lampeter. Decor and atmosphere is nice but unfortunately food was bland and tasteless. We had the steak pie (can’t remember if it was steak and something). It looked nice but didn't taste like anything. Wont be calling there again.

Popped in for a coffee & sandwich whilst visiting the area on a cold & wet day in early June with our Staffie X. Despite the very unseasonal weather we received a very 'dog friendly' welcome from the staff who fussed over our dog and even provided him with a few treats. Our food was lovely & great value. If you want traditional good food, then this is the place in Lampeter. You better have a good appetite if you order one of the breakfasts. It lasts and builds you up for the day.

Best fry up in Lampeter... also the only place open on Sunday morning. But actually a great breakfast and great service, despite us arriving minutes after they opened along with 20 or so other hungry customers.

Had coffee and cake recently and waited ages for coffee and also heard one of the staff talking badly about customers, I hope the owner keeps an eye on this as she was being very bitchy.

I came to Lampeter on Saturday to meet up with a friend. She suggested Granny’s Kitchen having visited there for the first time around a week earlier. I’m so glad she did suggest it. I was impressed from the moment I walked in. The decor was lovely and made the place feel very welcoming and relaxing. The staff were very friendly, and the amount of time we had to wait for our food was perfectly reasonable. I ordered the lasagne from the specials board along with garlic bread as a side dish, and a coffee with a flavoured syrup (there was a good choice of flavoured syrups). My friend had the cawl. The lasagne was lovely, and the portion was generous. My friend’s cawl looked delicious too, and I might try it myself next time. She said she enjoyed it, along with the fresh bread that came with it. The food was reasonably priced too. I wouldn’t mind seeing a few more main meal choices on the menu (or specials board), but this is by no means a criticism - just a suggestion. We will both be back again at Granny’s Kitchen, and in the not too distant future. The free bus at the weekend makes it far more tempting to stray further from Carmarthen now (I live half an hour away so until I found out about the free bus on the day of the food festival in Lampeter last summer, I rarely went to Lampeter).

What a gem of a place. Beautifully decorated and has such a warm cosy feel to it. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food, well it had to be the best cooked breakfast I’ve ever had. Freshly cooked so hot and fresh and amazing doorstop bread. Highly recommend this place

Lovely decor inside this cafe, staff were friendly but it was a little cold inside. I ordered a Mediterranean vegetable panini and it wasn't very warm when it came out and had gone cold before I could finish it, so I didn't finish it. My Partner enjoy his crawl. Overall it was ok, If back in town I'd try somewhere else.
