This cafe is in a great position for walkers and cyclist exploring the Borrowdale valley and it's useful it if you want a quick coffee. We had coffee and cake which was ok without being excellent. But beware, the owners/staff have a very unaccomodating almost mercenary attitude to visitors to the cafe. Lots of smiles, but you can't use the loo or get some tap water for your water bottle unless you've bought something (expensive). My husband summed it up; "You can just hear Basil Fawlty saying "yes, well, that's cost me hasn't it!"". Also they don't allow dogs and any dog owner will tell you what that suggests. Sorry, some staff training is needed - Manuel has obviosuly left.

We got the launch from Keswick to Lodore and walked round to the pretty village of Grange for breakfast at the Cafe before walking back to town along the lakeside. Shocking treatment of the disabled. A group of 16 of us arrived at the cafe. One in our party suffers from Chrons disease, and has an NHS Can't Wait card, describing his symptoms and his need to make urgent use of the toilet facilities when the symptoms flare up. This has never been a problem in any other establishment, apart from here. Upon our arrival he needed to make use of the facilities. He was refused. Aside from the discomfort, the embarrassment this caused was shocking. The rest of the group had been considering getting food and drinks here, as you can imagine this attitude made us think again. An opportunity missed. A real shame as every other time he has had to use the card people have been more than accommodating. Letting the side down. I'm sure the foods lovely.

The parents and I, and my entire family, have ate here every time we're visiting the Lake District for 40 years. Anytime we're on a trip for a week, and walk through The Grange, we pop in. Nice food. Not badly priced. Delicious ice cream too. It can be a bit busy at times, but not always. But note.. you can have bad signal on our phone and I don't believe any wireless is available from the cafe.

Called in intending to have a coffee and cake then a leisurely stroll along the river, but my husband (74) needed to use the facilities and found to his dismay that the local toilets needed certain coins and he only had £1 coins! Asked at the cafe if they could change his £1 coin to be told no, they were not allowed. Could have shown a bit of compassion for an elderly man in discomfort.

Good choice of cakes, nice coffee and tea. As many seats outside as in, so must get very busy when it's raining. Not too crowded when we visited so we had a good chat with the staff and the folk on the next door table. As someone else said, a good pit stop.

I just want to say that I was extremely disappointed with my hot chocolate today. After a lovely walk I thought I’d pop in for a comforting drink. At £3 I thought it must be proper hot choc made with milk, but no it was a very tasteless instant chocolate with water. Come on guys, make it properly with milk. I returned home and made myself a good one with Cadbury chocolate powder. It’s a shame as I pass here quite often, but won’t bother again.

Came here effectively for a fuel stop and deserved snacks after hiking up and down Scafell Pike. Grange Cafe is a great place just north of the Scafell Pike Car Park in Borrowdale with both indoor and outdoor seating. It was a nice day, so outdoor it was. I got a Latte and Chocolate Fudge Cake for myself. Latte was a great relief after a tiring day. The cake was awesome, chocolatey, but not too sweet as I would’ve expected from fudge. Actually I didn’t taste any fudge at all, but the flake topping more than made up for it. I note some comments about poor customer service and have to say I’m surprised. I came across three different members of staff and found all to be friendly and courteous.

We arrived after walking, and the two (perhaps younger?) people were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely cappuccino and some cold drinks, and we had fruit and cherry and almond scones which were fresh and tasty and went well with the clotted cream. This was a very good stopping point and there were plenty of tables outside for us in the hot weather. They also served more substantial food – which we did not require.

After waiting a while we were eventually served by a white-haired man with a stony expression who had a problem with us ordering a glass of tap water, in spite of us also paying for a Pepsi and slice of cake. When we later asked for a second glass he refused and told us to instead pay for an overpriced plastic bottle. I protested at this given we'd already spent money on food and drink but he continued to refuse, speaking to me as if I was a piece of dirt. Eventually he hissed "Oh for GOD'S SAKE!" at me and snatched the glass off me to re-fill it. We left at this point as we were so upset by how we'd been spoken to.

Espero volver a visitar pronto.

Out for a cycle ride yesterday with a bunch of friends and stopped for a well earned coffee and cake break at the Grange Café. Beautiful sunny day so we sat out on the terrace and had a really nice cup of coffee and excellent date and apple slice. In fact it was the best date and apple slice I have ever tasted. Will definitely be back for more of that.

I've come here many times over many years and my wife and I have a fond regard for the cafe, not because its perfect, but because it is what it is and I've always felt comfortable with its straightforward approach. We have never been able to fault the food. We love the canopy and sitting outside, the inside is rustic and authentic. The toilet.....is a toilet, and within its obvious limits, is a clean toilet.. We had our lunch here last tuesday and it was lovely, and a late breakfast on thursday, which was just fine. I've never experienced an attitude problem from the family who run it, but the first time somebody says "Have a nice day" is the day I pack my bags and go somewhere else. Its Cumbria, not Chelsea and long may it stay that way.

Our DofE group finished here after 5 days of walking, only to be greeted by an obnoxious old man. As a group, we spent over £200. He had a time limit for customers and after a while, he began to throw our rucksacks in the main road obstructing cars. Belongings were severely damaged after thrown with such force by an ignorant old man.DO NOT GO.

What a lovely restaurant with fabulous food and great staff. We were staying close by and had seen great reviews about the restaurant so we had to try it….not just once but two nights in a row it was that good. On the first night my husband had lamb shoulder which was cooked to perfection and fell off the bone, I had salmon and prawns which were equally as good. The second night it was seafood platter for my husband and sweet and sour chicken for me. Both meals were very good and it was great to have so much to choose from. It was a pleasant change to be able to choose the accompaniment to the meals rather than just chips with salad or veg. The staff were very attentive and polite. All in all it was a great experience and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant is part of Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa. The breakfast, is poor quality ingredients which are largely tasteless. The milk jug was dirty, the staff seemed miserable (expect for two chaps who were welcoming and happy). All in all, very poor and I won’t be back.
