Came here on a weekend away before having a baby and had a lovely Sunday lunch in a dome. Initially we were disappointed as we paid to hire the dome expecting a nicer view or something but it was literally just a clear dome next to the other outdoor seating. However staff had gone out of their way to make our visit special and this made our day. We had a little platter with brownies and some free canapés which were delicious. Our main meals were really good taste and portion size. The mocktails we tried were also great. I asked for a dessert to go and this was done with no trouble and quickly, and was just as tasty as the rest. The restaurant and the dome are wheelchair accessible although the dome entrance is pretty narrow. Staff are very friendly and helpful, service was really fast and prices are very fair. Definitely recommend eating here.

I had been looking forward to eating here for ages. I booked for my family which was 6 people. We were sat at the table nearest the kitchen but seemed to be ignored. We watched other families come and go but our sevice was slow. Starter of soup was pleasant but nothing amazing. Main of beef was a suprise. The beef was very rare but was quite tender. My sister-in-law sent her beef back asking for it to be cooked a little more. It was replaced by some overcooked beef which is not what she asked for. The dinner only had roast potatoes and cabbage. It lacked carrots etc. The cauliflower cheese was nice but with orange cheese which was a little strange. Dessert was ok. I had rhubard fool which was like a posh angel delight. My sister-in-law asked to not have blue cheese on her cheeseboard but it was still on it when brought out. She asked to return it and the waitress just whipped the blue cheese off. The other cheese wasn't eaten as the cheese smelt of the blue cheese. My sister-in-law explianed why not eaten but waitress not interested. There was no rapport built, we felt abandoned and genrally disappointed with the experience. It did not live up to the award winning status it promised. I would say the food was ok but nothing special. It wasn't worth the money and with the exception of the young female waitress, the service was poor.

Oh dear. My daughter has just taken myself and my husband to The Granery, Weston Park for Mother's Day. What a disappointment. The starter was ok ish. The mains were an absolute culinary disaster!!!! I had beef and my daughter had chicken. They arrived at our table stone cold. The waiter apologised and said they had been sitting on the pass for too long. He took mine back to warm up. When it came back eventually the meat was just a load of gristle. Long tubes of whitish sinus. Unable to cut. Impossible to chew. The 3 roast potatoes were so hard and tasteless. So dry in the middle. Like eating talcum powder!! The cabbage was almost raw. My daughters was the same. The half chicken was dry and over cooked. Tasted bad. Inedible. Wish I had stayed at home and cooked a meal for my family myself. Shall not be rushing back. Not worth £40 a head.

Went with a friend for lunch. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. We both had mussels which were tasty. Coffee was excellent. It was a good experience all round but we, thought the wine cost, £19.50 for 2 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc, 175 ml, was excessive. They get 6 glasses of that measure out of a standard bottle which comes to £57 total. Not bad for a bottle that probably cost about £7. We would have had another glass each if it had not been so pricey. We understand fully the costs associated with running a hospitality business but maybe such prices are counter productive.

Popped in with my hysband to visit the art gallery this morning ; we then decided to get a quick coffee before leaving . It was 12 pm . Walked into the Granary and were met by a rather stern lady ( not sure waitress/ manager ? ) blond middle-aged who told us all tables were now set for lunch so couldn’t have coffee … we were a bit take aback as no other clients but us … So can we sit at one of the tables outside ? Yes you can what do you want ? Could we see the drinks menu ? We’ll there’s Americano, cappuccino etc … ( so no menu then !? Too much trouble !?) So we ordered and sat outside for 15 mn in the gloomy weather … coffees ok but so should they be at 4.50 a pop . Verdict : nice place , shame about the poor attitude of a staff member . My husband said it had been a long time since he had been made feel so unwelcomed anywhere and I have to agree.

If I had looked at the reviews more closely I probably would not have booked. Inconsistency seems to feature a lot. We had attended the launch of their Butler Gin a few weeks ago which was great evening and as we had not dined in the Granary for over 15 years following a poor meal, we decided to give it another go. I booked for a Saturday evening dinner to take Australian friends for a special meal. We were disappointed. Worryingly we were the only guests, but put that down to bestival being held in the park that weekend. This of course did not help the ambience and the place did feel a little tired. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered some olives with our drinks which arrived with our starters, clearly out of a cash and carry jar with stripes of peppers and sweet onions in brine. Not what we expected of a high end restaurant. The starters sounded promising but were disappointing in taste. The mains were better, especially the sea bream with linguine which was excellent. The tuna on the other hand was over charred and over cooked. Desserts were ok, the millefeuille was sloppy and the 'artisan' cheese biscuits were not artisan but out of the Waitrose essential range. The coffee was undrinkable and when I complained about this it was taken off the bill. The waitress said she knew it was not good as they were having difficulty with a new coffee machine! Well don't serve it then! The wine was good. Overall a very disappointing experience and as much as I would like to support this local restaurant to us we won't be back. Sorry The Granary but you need to get the basics right.

Visited with our good friends Sharon and Gary for Sunday lunch. Lovely location and the staff were very nice. Prices about what you would expect and the fish cake starter was above average. What’s made me want to write the review was the main course. Listed as sirloin of beef (served pink), this was some of the best, if not the best roast beef I’ve ever had. OMG. It was gorgeous; soft, moist and tasty. You didn’t need a knife to cut it. The accompaniments were all very good (particularly enjoyed the white beetroot, I think it was?), but would definitely return for the beef.

This place is an underrated little nugget. We have eaten in some of the best restaurants across Britain and Scotland and the granary easily holds its ground in comparison. Anna ( top chef ) has the ability to create menus that tempt and startle with taste combinations that dazzle. This restaurant should be booked out every night of the week and weekend. If you haven’t been then book now! The lemon tart with pink pepper meringue stole my husbands heart and he said “it’s taken nu 1 place in his favourites”.”And second in over all dishes coming second only to chateaubriand in a restaurant in Kablinsk “. Attended Weston Park for art exhibition in the morning. Decided to visit Granary for coffee and cake before hand. Never again. A nice place, but that is all I can say about it. Normally greeted with a smile at most places. Miserable lot. Gave the impression could not care less if we were there or not. No menu on the table or blackboard price list. Waitress came and we ordered 2 Americano coffees. At £4.00 each daylight robbery. Coffee ok but nothing to rave about. Smaller cup than the smallest serving at a place like Costa. Asked about Gluten Free pastries. Shrug of the shoulders from the waitress. "Don't know, will ask the chef and come back" she said. Never did!! Didn't want to know. So my wife had to go without. OK if they at least came back and said sorry we do not cater for intolerances. Most places now have some sort of gluten pastry or sandwich. I had a Danish Pastry. Dry, tasteless. I am sure had been there for a couple of days. At £3.50, again daylight robbery. So 2 coffees and one dried up pastry with total lack of service or interest, £11.50. We could not wait to finish our drinks and leave. We are returning to Weston Park early June. a beautiful place. Will stay well away from The Granary. Needs a complete overall of management and staff, menu's and reduced prices and it may have a chance. Such a shame, it is letting Weston Park down. We shall be taking our own cake and coffee and enjoy a much more enjoyable visit than we had. Sorry for this poor review but I have written it as I see it.

Disastrous experience... Well we’re shall I start!! I called Weston Park before our visit for our afternoon tea in the dome, as the weather was dreadful and was concerned it would be cancelled, which gave us an opportunity to reserve somewhere for dinner or lunch. I was told by the person who answered the phone it would be fine as it had a roof, door and was enclosed. It was our Ruby Anniversary in lockdown, both our birthdays so this was our weeks holiday to fit in a few celebrations. So we thought let’s be sensible keep our money in the Shropshire area, support local businesses and do a staycation.... So we get ourselves all ready, jumpIn the car off we drive to Weston. You know when you knob. you arrive somewhere when something is wrong?? Lack of eye contact, whispering and bring ignored for the first 5mins etc... as for social distancing they were huddled round the bar having a proper little conflab. Eventually a young guy comes over to inform us sadly the dome had been a wash with water (funny that) they’d managed to dry it up but the lunch party who went in late. While they tried to dry it up!! were just having a coffee and didn’t know how how long they would be, then it would have to be all cleaned. Would we like it in the Bistro!!! No there were lots of uncleared tables and it’s really not suitable for an afternoon tea, a sandwich or lunch but not afternoon tea. Then would you like a drink whilst you wait however long... No. afternoon tea should have been served at 3.30 not 4.00 or 4.30, we decided it was not going to be a great experience from that moment on so decided to leave, we were asked to return but we both work and were on holiday, we’ve planned something everyday to make it an enjoyable week at this difficult time. We went home and literally sat in total silence we were both speechless. Dreadful experience.

We booked for lunch at the Granary on Boxing Day, not having visited for about a year. As usual, we were very impressed. It was busy, but they know how to manage bookings, so service was good. Excellent choice from a special menu with five starters, five mains etc. We both enjoyed our meals very much; a great way to relax and spend Boxing Day in nice surroundings. I had only one (albeit small) niggle, and this is very much a personal preference, but on the menu three of the five main course descriptions included the word 'garlic' (garlic mash for example)! I avoid garlic if I can (and I'm aware that it will often be used in a recipe without being specifically referred to on a menu), but fortunately I was able to substitute horseradish mash for garlic mash with my Salmon en Croute. Overall, an excellent experience and I hope that they will decide to open for Boxing Day 2020.

Met Grandparents and cousins at the restaurant for Sunday lunch. All in all was a pleasant Roast in a nice setting with ok service. The menu was limited to Sunday Roasts, on a Sunday. Would have liked some non Roast options. The kids menu was also half size portions of the Roasts and again would have been good to have a few more choices. The roast beef was cooked well. They did tell us it would be Pink, which it was. Would have preferred a rarer option but again was reasonably nice. The restaurant was a nice level of noise where the kids couldn’t cause too much havoc. Staff were friendly and helpful. Generally good service. Will go back in the summer when can sample the outdoors and also hope to try something more expansive on the menu.

After writing a miserable review in August - how things have changed?! I have returned twice and enjoyed very highly quality lunches. The first was a complimentary one, in response to my birthday disappointment lunch. Everything had changed and the food was well served and delicious! On Friday I returned with a friend for another lunch experience and were pleased with our vegetarian options. I highly recommended the Orchard Vegetable Stew with cheese scones and we both indulged in tasty puddings. Compliments to chef plus waitressing staff who were so friendly and attentive in just the right balance! Thank you so much

As local to us, we have visited this restaurant many times and can recommend. The food this evening was very good; artisan breads, braised beef with horseradish mash and roast chicken with roast vegetables. All of these courses were absolutely delicious and served by attentive staff. However, our desert was very disappointing. Having ordered apple tart tatin we were expecting caramelised apples on crisp puff pastry but got warm apple sauce on soggy pastry. Very much letting down an otherwise delicious meal. We would still recommend, as on the whole the venue and food are lovely.

Paying almost £15 for a piece of breadcrumbed chicken breast and a few tomatoes and lettuce came as a shock. Not particularly tasty, either. Limited menu. Very pricy. Such a shame. Pleasant staff and okay surroundings. No revisit planned!

Went for lunch with friends from a recommendation. It was a hot day, so the manager kindly let us drink outside and held a table for us inside for when the food came. The food was OK, but very little meat with the roasts... Plus no apple sauce considering pork was one of 4 main course options, or English mustard for the beef... They did however plonk a bottle of American mustard on the table which was quite interesting with a roast dinner. The overall quality of the food was acceptable and two members of our party had the Ravioli vegetarian option which looked good. The pudding, was very small and at the set menu price seemed a little overpriced. They had run out of draught beer, so we were served bottles which weren't chilled. The service was bow par and it felt like the place lacked leadership, with inexperienced staff. Overall, food ok but difficult to say it was value for money with poor service, no condiments available (which you'd imagine is a staple with a Roast dinner) and warm beer. Can imagine greater experiences are easier to find at better value, however with a few changes these issues could be easily eradicated.

Having had a good meal here last time, we were happy to go again. Monday, so it was quiet. Lunch menu is limited and if I didn’t eat fish, I’d have struggled. (I’m a vegetarian/ pescatarian.) However, we both had the fish and chips, which were very nice but a bit overpriced. The Pimms jelly concoction for dessert was also good.

I visited the Granary Deli for lunch with my family. It said waitress service but we had to order at the counter. We had 3 deli sandwiches (mackerel and cream cheese, very sickly and overpriced), 2 sausage rolls , five soups and drinks. The assistant handed me the 2 sausage rolls on their own, cold on a plate. I asked if they could warm them up and when I went to collect them another lady had put salad with them, which we hadn't been offered previously. The soup was pea and mint. It was horrible and thick. Just as though someone had blended up peas and warmed them up. No taste whatsoever. It was inedible. I told the waitress after we had left the table that the soup was awful and she said she wondered why it hadn't been eaten and offered us some dried up looking cakes. I said we didn't want them but she needed to know we were not happy with the food and service. When I returned home I sent an email to the Granary about our bad experience but they didn't reply, so I sent another email and they replied saying they would look into it but 3 weeks on I have still not had a reply! This only suggests that they couldn't care less about their customers and that is why I am leaving this review. They've had plenty of time to get in touch with me.

The spring sunshine in the courtyard tempted us to sit outside. The coffee was delicious and the food tasty. A gem, we shall definitely return to when we have more time and visit the Park as well.

Visited for lunch with friends. Had Prosecco which was flat and was changed begrudgingly. The food was a long time coming even though the restaurant was empty. The waitress could not have been more offhand if she had tried. The food was okay although an open steak sandwich was actually a sandwich and the coleslaw homemade was very wet and I had a soggy slice of bread. The two puddings were 30mins coming and when we asked for cutlery were looked at as if we were stupid asking it was crumble and custard. The two coffees we ordered had to be done twice because they were stone cold which again you would have thought it was our problem having them when they were having trouble with the machine. We eventually paid almost 90£ for a very poor unpleasant experience. Hence no tip people even though you did give us daggers.

A table of 8 was booked for a Saturday night so it was somewhat of a surprise on arrival to see that it wasn’t even half full, not a good sign I thought. Hmmm, now given that some 4 years ago we had 2 consecutive awful dining experiences we vowed we would never return. However as the matter was out of our hands we went with the flow. Currently the menu is fairly limited, 7 sirloin steaks and a hake were ordered. Wine, beer etc were served efficiently before a reasonable wait for the main courses. On a positive note, all the food was cooked to perfection, Sasha the manager was very friendly and efficient and we can offer no issues or complaints. Sadly due to lack of customers by 10pm we were the only people left in the restaurant, the ambience was zero. I am totally certain that Sasha and her team will be able to recover this restaurant back to where it used to be 5 years ago. I promised Sasha that as we live only a short distance away, and that the food and service was good, we will return. Once they have altered their menu with a larger choice, I am sure it will be worth a visit.

We were celebrating a family member's 70th birthday on Boxing Day and a table for 12 was booked for 12pm. The family member decided to choose the Granary as we'd all had lovely meals at the restaurant in the past. Myself and my husband arrived only 5 minutes after 12 and the starters had already been placed out on the table! We weren't even asked if we would like a drink when we sat down at the table. We all complained but the manager stated it was because there was another sitting after us and we needed to be all finished by 1.45pm! It was a disgrace! It was like being on a conveyor belt! The following courses were all rushed out too. We were then charged full price for all the children's meals and also 4 people who had only 2 courses were charged for 3 courses. Therefore much discussion took place with the manager regarding the bill. I felt very sorry for the family member who was celebrating their 70th Birthday. This was supposed to be a very special meal and day and the Granary Grill restaurant ruined it. None of us will ever return and we will be telling family and friends about our experience. It needs a new manager!! This was pure greed trying to fit 3 sittings in an afternoon.

The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived, maximum 3 small parties eating lunch. We were seated and given menus. We had to ask one of the three serving staff standing around the bar to take our drinks order, after 15 minutes of waiting. During the meal we ordered more drinks, had to ask for these again after 10 minutes of waiting. The same thing happened with the bill, after 15 minutes of waiting we had to ask for someone to take our card payment, to which they brought over a second bill.
