Myself and family have eaten at the Staffordshire grill for many years , however over time we have seen a slow decline in the place . Tonight Realy was the final straw 1hr 15 mins before we even started to eat our starters But they was nice & every one enjoyed 👍(but may have been starvation due to wait) Main corses 50/50 minus Burgers cooked to death Mac cheese warm/cold ish Steak I ask for “well done “not cooked to death Fish and chips .batter soft not crispy did not taste or appear freshly cooked ,looked like kept warm whilst getting other dishes ready Sunday roast was ok 👍 Gammon was ok 👍 Tripe cooked chips used to be super chunky ones used , now looks like all size cuts are used and then triple cooked .however the smaller cuts become ruined and hard . Only chunky chips can be cooked this way !!! Onion ring ok ish but too much batter Garlic bread , awful no taste at all very poor Water leaking through ceiling from hotel rooms above . This has been an ongoing issues for years as we have seen the water stains on previous visits . When are you going to fix this properly !!! When asked by the waiter how was my meal . I did say not good ,and all they could say was” sorry and they will tell the Managment” . Tonight when we got home ,I looked at trip advisor and seen similar reports . It’s such a shame , It used to be a great place to eat , but now I think I will be going elsewhere from now on .

This place had a lively and bustling atmosphere on a Saturday night. It has a bright and modern decor and the young staff were friendly and helpful. There was an excellent childrens' menu and the adults menu also provided a good choice. Starters were innovative, tasty and well presented. Likewise the main course. Portions were, if anything, over generous but that may reflect local appetites! We were not tempted by the desserts menu as it lacked something light enough for us such as a creme brulee or posset. An enjoyable evening was had by both children and adults at a fair price. Thank you.

Went here for me and my wife 8th wedding anniversary and enjoyed every minute, the service from the staff and the food was excellent. Worth every penny.

Overall a lovely place, with good food and wonderful atmosphere. Staff were attentive and the service was quick. However, I felt that whilst our waiter said all the right things, he was rather condescending in his manner towards my friend and I. For drinks, we ordered a water and a soda water, where his response was ‘.. Ooo exciting…’. I’m not sure we were supposed to hear that but that threw me off balance a little and then when we ordered, we chose the 2 courses for £20, which is brilliant 🤩 in itself but dietary requirements meant that we enquired if we could change the ‘frites’ for something else.. his response was “…it’s steak frites…”. I appreciate that changing menus for ‘offers’ probably isn’t ideal and that we aren’t spending the earth but I still don’t appreciate being made to feel “less of a diner” than those spending more. Shame really, was a lovely place. Perhaps real the sarcasm in and I will return.

I had taken my mom out for food for her birthday with my family, the service was impeccable the manager on duty made sure we had everything we needed. The details were on point, down from a birthday card and Prosecco when we walked in to a personalized birthday plate at the end. Food was delicious the head chef really out did him self

Had a nice meal today we were served by a lovely girl called Nicole, we would have liked to given her a tip and say thank you, but a girl called Emily bought the bill over with her name on and she had not done anything for us, sorry Nicole you deserved a big thank you

We were very disappointed by our experience. The man on the front desk was very unwelcoming and unprofessional . He didn’t really want to acknowledge us. We ordered the soup to start with which turned up stone cold, after asking for fresh it was returned to us the same but reheated. We then went on to have our mains (roast beef & chicken). One main came out first and 5 minutes later the other roast came out but with no chicken. We complained AGAIN and a plate of grilled chicken came out not roast chicken. It felt like the staff weren’t bothered and if anything we felt like we were being laughed at (we could see the kitchen and the staff kept looking at us and smirking). The worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant. We will not be coming back again.

Always a warm Welcome and an excellent ambiance. Quite often walk up For a couple of drinks late Saturday afternoon. Lovely staff offering a great service. Food is lovely , we often eat in the bar area as we can take the dog . Would recommend.

Attended on the evening of the 10/06 for some drinks with my wife. Happened to hear a table of some rude “customers” speaking down to a young lady waitress who handled the situation remarkably well. The service I witnessed by the staff on duty throughout my evening of drinking was excellent, food looked beautiful and served in a timely fashion and as always a wonderful experience in what is a lovely place to unwind. Wanted to acknowledge the staff on duty this shift of doing a great job in keeping us genuine local customers happy so many thanks to Oscar , Emily ,Chelsy,Nebon, Gerome and Charlie. We came here for my sons birthday we ordered the pork belly beef brisket and two steaks they were absolutely amazing and our server Megan was so lovely, attentive and greeted us with a smile nothing seemed to much to ask for! Would definitely come again

This was our second visit, we came for Mother’s Day lunch. The place is really lovely, delicious food and nice service. The menu choice is really good, I opted for scotch egg (I had this the time before too - it is really so good), Mom had mozzarella sticks and hubby had chicken wings, both delicious. For the mains I ordered belly pork, it was cook beautifully very very tender, hubby had a lamb shank and mom had an enormous burger with prime beef. The food was really very good. I almost forgot the onion rings are simply amazing so we had 2 sides of them. No room for dessert :(

Visited this lunch time. The bar/ restaurant are very inviting, a really pleasant environment. Initial service was excellent, drinks ordered and served promptly etc. I ordered gammon and chips, my wife battered cod and chips. On both meals, the chips were inedible. Almost certainly they had been kept warm for some time, however were undercooked in places. My gammon and eggs were okay. My wife’s fish and chips was overcooked. I suspect it had sat on a hotplate being kept ‘warm’. There was no enquiry as to whether the food was okay. Nor at the end of the meal, to ask if we’d enjoyed the meal. Nice venue but I’m afraid our food was poor. For context, I’ve left a number of reviews in Tripadvisor. This is the first negative review

We visited The Grill for a family birthday meal. Once again the food was delicious and we had great service from Georgia and Lily.

A family booking of 21 in the private dining area. Celebrating 80th birthday and two 18th with my local family and family who travelled from Bermuda ! We pre ordered. When we arrived there were not enough places laid . We were then informed that many items from our pre order were not available . Very inexperienced and stroppy staff providing minimal service . When food arrived starters were disgusting wilted salads greasy soggy squid the only veggie option on the day stale and musty . I could go on. Mains cold , sauces had coagulated with skins on top. Roast dinners cold lacking accompaniments . Just awful in every way . Desserts again pre orders not available, staff spent 40 minutes trying to calculate how to micro slice portions of the remaining chocolate cake . I raised all these matters with supposed manager of the day who actually said nothing to apologise just ok! We paid our bill I stressed at the time UNDER PROTEST! as I didn’t want to cause a scene with 21 people walking out without paying ( oh I wish we had now ) Subsequently I spoke to the actual manager Richard he passed me to head office . After many emails and calls . I have been offered compensation of 1 room for the night and £100 voucher . I have refused but it been made clear it’s a take it or leave it offer . This is a joke the management and customer service are as atrocious as this restaurant . This has taken 7 weeks and now totally ignored. Why would I want to go back?? How does this compensate for 21?? I only asked for the food money to be refunded . We happily paid for drinks . ! Do not waste your money on this crud!!

Third time visiting the Staffordshire Grill and it didn’t disappoint. There’s loads to choose from on the menu, the food is beautiful and portion sizes are very good. I tried a couple of cocktails today which were lovely too. Our waitress Georgia was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning!

Me and my husband visited for the first time after recommendations. We had a lovely evening. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. We will definitely be returning.

We went as a big group of 14 for a special birthday. From the first call the staff were friendly and helpful, we had to pay a deposit of £5 per person to secure for a large group. We were sent a menu via email so we could pre-book the starters and mains a few days before the meal. The place is easy to find, the car park is a few minutes walk away. We had a large table in the upstairs seating area. Table service was throughout and we were able to order drinks with our waitress. The food was OUTSTANDING absolutely brilliant and there was no complaints from anyone in our group. We were a mix of adults, teens and a couple of kids and had a variety of different foods off the menu, and puddings also. We took a birthday cake and this was kept and brought to the table with the candles lit and staff sang along with the happy birthday 🥳 Nothing was too much trouble and I would 100% recommend this place for a meal. Megan was our waitress last night and she was fabulous Note, you only get the table for 2 hours, we where not told this and they apologised and we where able to stay with no issues.

Every course was fantastic, great table service and the wine was the perfect temperature to complement the steak. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant too. Lily was our waitress and nothing was too much trouble. Service with a smile too.

Back again.!! Today we had the absolute pleasure of Hayley (our Hayls) She is rare diamond and the face of the staffy grill.. and she’s an absolute beaut behind that bar.. we do get a little hot around the collar when we see our Hayls strutting her stuff behind the bar.. mixing up a”Mean” Long Island.!! Disappointed with second visit after a wonderful first visit. Flickering migrane inducing light directly above table reported and not resolved with any concern until a long wait and reported a second time. Portion size of starters at nearly 9 pounds each were disappointing. Side order of sauce charged at £7.50. Final order of 3 ports to end the 70th birthday celebrations...told non in restaurant...despite being on the menu so reordered 3 whiskeys but again non in stock. For a meal of over £200 we were very disappointed and will not return.

We love this place and try to come almost every Saturday to enjoy our favourite tipples.. We both have a special soft spot for Dick (aka Richard the manager) He in return has a little soft spot for our Rita🐶who he bribes with treats and snacks, which is simple yet very clever ploy for us to spend more money at the bar.. We often catch him gazing over in our direction mesmerised, only to be highly disappointed as he’s just being nosey looking out the window.. With his rugged handsomeness and quick wit our little Dick truly makes the place what it is.. and is without a doubt the 2nd best manager I’ve ever met… And as for our little ally pally.. she truly is a bundle of joy with an infectious smile and ridiculous cackle.. we do love you.. now blinking hurry up and get our chips sugar T@TS.. Very disappointed! The starter was dry and dull and definitely overpriced. The main meal was tasteless, and certainly nothing special for the prices they charge. We were seated upstairs which was nice although the tables are so close together you can hear everyone conversation without trying to! Choose the Staffordshire Grill thinking it was a cut above - but definitely on the bottom of my list .

We booked this last minute for a well overdue date night, the food was amazing we had the duck pom poms and black pudding scotch egg for starters, pork belly and cod for mains then we shared the apple and cinnamon crumble with ice cream, and the pornstar martini was one of the nicest I've had. The staff were very welcoming and we didnt feel rushed at all and we loved the decor, we will definitely be back and will be recommending to friends.

Alison Emily and Richard have been fabulous !!!! They went over and above to help us as my friend and I are gluten free and sometimes it’s an awkward experience or there is no choice, so it’s refreshing to go somewhere and have lots of options and exceptional service !!! Lovely atmosphere in modern and tasteful surroundings. Second time eating here in the last 6 months and on both occasions the staff have been exceptional....tonights stars were Oscar, Kayleigh and Georgia. Food may be a tad more expensive but absolutely worth it. My family from Ireland were very impressed with the whole dining experience here too. Thank you.

We're staying at the Lion inn and the Grill looked so inviting as we checked in so we dropped in for dinner. Georgia and Jenny gave fantastic, attentive service and the food was exceptional - we both had brisket and it was one of the best I've ever had. Highly recommended and would definitely be back
