The food in this establishment is simply appalling. It's is mainly pre-cooked days in advance and just reheated. I ordered the Macaroni Cheese which when it arrived was stone cold! (Interestingly they provide a microwave for customer use, but it wouldn't work!!) So apart from being completely cold there was also a lack of cheese, no sauce and the garlic bread was inedible, it being rock hard! My wife's baked potato was warm, not hot, but it did have a lot of tuna mayo filling (cold). The skin of the potato indicated that it had been baked more than once and several days before and was grey, tough and inedible. We left most of our meals even though we were hungry. As an aside I noticed that one of the chefs in the kitchen had previously worked at PL as a maintenance man with responsibility for cleaning the drains - I hope he had washed his hands!!! Ha, ha, ha.

Located before entering the Polesden Lacey grounds. A typical National Trust cafe serving average coffee and snacks. it serves its purpose if you just want a hot or cold drink.

A pleasant basic cafe to enjoy a hot drink and cake to start the day before visiting Polesden Lacey house and grounds or alternatively on the way out

This is a pleasant cafe before you go into Polesden Lacey grounds. It sells a variety of hot and cold beveraged. Also some pastries and cakes. Service is somewhat impersonal and robotic. It serves a purpose

We stopped for a quick cup of tea after touring the house. As with many places, the complexities of coffee making do slow the counter queue down, and there were several of us backed up at the counter-end awaiting our drinks after we'd ordered while the machine hissed and pootled on. The staff were charming and our tea was just fine, eagerly drunk!

You did not actually have to go into Polesden Lacey to visit the cafe, as it is outside the entrance. A large courtyard, where one can enjoy beverages and cokes. You can also sit inside, It is an efficient service and a pleasant atmosphere. Average prices

The Duke’s Head is always a fantastic place to enjoy yourself! From the friendly, helpful staff (special mention to Paul for his creative take on shots) to the DJ playing a wide variety of music to suit all tastes, it’s perfect for a night of dancing with friends or watching sports.

Pleasant enough place but food lacked imagination. Not a great variation on the menu.

A Most Precarious Repast at The Old House at Home There are few things in life as sacred as a well-poured drink and a sturdy table upon which to set it. Imagine my horror, then, upon entering The Old House at Home, only to find myself dining not in stately comfort but in a state of perpetual imbalance. One reserves a table with the reasonable expectation that it will, at the very least, stand firm beneath one’s elbows. Alas, what I was met with was a rickety, quivering contraption, trembling at the mere suggestion of movement. My fellow diners and I found ourselves locked in a silent contest of steadiness, each lifting a fork with the precision of a bomb disposal expert, lest we send our glasses skidding into oblivion. To make matters worse, this architectural affliction was not limited to my table alone; no, the neighbouring furniture appeared to share in this affliction, as if the entire room were engaged in some grand, lumbering waltz. A wonky table is not mere inconvenience—it is an insult to the art of dining, a sign of neglect so egregious that one wonders whether management has mistaken rustic charm for outright disrepair. One does not expect to endure a siege upon one’s senses simply to enjoy a meal. A man should be free to place his drink upon a table without fear that it may betray him. Until this most elementary of expectations is met, The Old House at Home shall remain, at best, a folly; at worst, a farce.

The People the Grange support will serve you at your table gaining experience of dealing with customers and handling money. This is an excellent and weel worth suppoting. The tea is served in the Victoriam conservatory. The cost is £6.50 a head for a scone, jam and cream with unlimited tea of coffee. Most enjoyable. The only minor downside is the start time of 2 o'close which for us is far too early 3 o;clock for tea would suit us much better and this is the only point thatwill stop us returning
