We were a group of four women, had been out doing as much as we could in our one full day in Glastonbury, so had gone up the Tor, to the White Spring and the Chalice Gardens... we were in need of some refreshment! The man and the woman who served us were both friendly and welcoming, the range of teas and drinks was good and, although we didn't have cake, the cakes on offer looked really delicious. We sat in the courtyard to have our teas, the area was clean, bright and spacious. We were at the end of the day and pretty worn out otherwise I would have liked to visit the museum too... next time!

The Grain Store Café is situated inside the Glastonbury Life Museum. Although the museum has an admission charge, visitors are allowed to visit the café without an entry charge. Everything is freshly made with local ingredients, and the service was prompt and efficient, despite the fact that the café was quite full when we came. There is plenty vegetarian choice, and it’s great for light meals.

The Grain Store is set inside the Glastonbury Rural Life Museum, but you don’t have to pay the entrance fee to patronise it. (You can see the museum while you’re there, but we were honest and didn’t look for free!) The restaurant is for light lunches – sandwiches, baguettes, etc., rather than a full meal, but it is licensed, so it was possible to order lager and Prosecco. The food was good and reasonably priced, and service was prompt. The atmosphere is quiet, and the toilets are very clean, and have the rare feature of hand driers that work efficiently! It’s slightly out of town, but a good stopping place on the way to the Chalice Well and the Tor.

We spotted the cafe sign as we drove past and decided to pop in for lunch. The menu is not huge but has enough choice. I went for the ham n cheese toasty on granary…it was truly delicious. Packed with loads of filling it was toasted to perfection. Prices are very reasonable and service comes with a smile. Simple, efficient, with quality food and service. Go visit…

Lovely cream tea in an unusual setting. The scones and the tea were delicious. The ladies in charge were friendly. The lady at the reception of the museum was really nice and helpful and explained we didn't have to visit the museum to use the café. And on top of that the parking was free!

The Grain Store, is part of the Somerset Rural life Museum , and is managed by two lovely ladies who are great with the public, and the pastries. Very relaxed brunch, almost like being with friends, good produce, excellent teas and the ladies arranged for brilliant sunshine as well. Excellent.

We visited the Rural Life Museum and called in the Grain Store cafe whilst there. The cafe is very well laid out and extremely safe with regarding to Covid 19. Tables are well spaced in the court yard and if it should rain they have tables well spaced out inside the old 14th century Barn. There is a limited menu at the moment, but well worth a visit. Also you can visit the Grain Store cafe without paying to go into the museum, but we would recommend the museum as well.

Located within the Somerset Rural Life Museum, entrance is free for cafe visitors. Catering is of the same high standard, with fresh home cooked items supplied daily by the Glastonbury AbbeyTea Rooms. Whilst I was there during a busy Saturday lunchtime, a delivery from the tearooms topped up items which were selling well. (it was a no charge Open Day for the Museum). I think around 30 people are seated inside, plus an extra room available for parties. If you sit at the tables, outside in the farmyard, you can see the metal sculpture of a working horse and the Glastonbury Tor as a backdrop. The only downside for me was the car parking fee in the large museum car park.

Very disappointing. We came here once before and we were very impressed but this time the batter was burnt black in places.

Such a wonderfully welcoming and relaxed restaurant with the most amazing food right in the heart of England’s tiniest city. We went for a family New Years Eve meal and the service and food was absolutely spot on. We will definitely return. Highly recommended!

If your visiting Street / Clarks village look up this place on the High Street its a real nice place to sit relax and eat good food, the Fondo Lounge which is part of a chain serves a variety of foods from Burgers to Chilli beef and a Full English all cooked to perfection. They have a full Gluten Free Menu available, my wife is coeliac so no Gluten Thank you, reassuringly when serving your food the gluten free meal will have a Stick with a little flag on top to identify it has Gluten free and avoid any mistakes, Top marks to Fondo Lounge for this. The staff are all very helpful and pleasant its a real nice eating experience which I highly recommend to all.
