Called in today and had a lovely lunch of chicken and leek pie. Very good chips without skins (crispy but soft inside) and perfectly cooked veg, no rock hard broccoli stems and some tasty cauliflower.

The staff were really helpful and welcoming. The food was typical pub grub, which was good value for money. We chose to eat in the bar with the locals, although we had booked a table in the restaurant.

Came for dinner with my husband and was not impressed. The dinning room is like a school lunch hall and didn't feel like a restaurant. Starter was hot and spicy chicken wings, which were overcooked and served with salad that was on the turn. Main was the 12oz sirloin steak requested medium rare. It was not sirloin and had an extreme amount of fat through it, was cooked well done served with pea's, onion rings, mushrooms and half a grilled tomato all of which were overcooked. Other main was fish and chips which were alright and what you would expect in pub grub with a cook and not a restaurant with a chef. Staff were polite and helpful.

Visited for lunch during our stay at the Carwinley Retreat & was recommended to visit Graham’s Arms by the people of Longtown on their fb page. The guy behind the bar was soooo lovely, as was the young lad waiter so this review should not reflect on them! Sadly, we were very disappointed by the standard of the food. I had Brie to start which was nice! This was followed by a chicken burger with cheese & bacon. The chicken was clearly a prepackaged processed large chicken nugget & was very unpleasant. The burger was edible but not at all good. My partner had the pie of the day (steak pie). The pie was nice, nothing to shout and rave about but okay however the gravy appeared gloopy as if it had been sat around for a few days and re heated. The interior of the place is also very outdated and could do with a spruce up (this is just my personal opinion) Despite our meal being very average, the staff we came across were all super friendly & attentive, the best bit about the place.

Don't expect high restaurant quality food here but you will get good quality pub food served by friendly staff. The landlord is welcoming and the ales are good (according to my hubby). There is a seperate dining room if you don't want to sit in the pub.

My friend and I had a wonderful starter of nachos and cheese - wonderful; for the mains, we had the fish and chips and the hamberger, chips and salad, absolutely the best we have ever had. The dessert was ice cream, chocolate fudge cake with ice cream - again superb!!! All the food is cooked by Chef Barrie, what a talented young man. The seasoning was excellent and one can actually taste the love of cooking put into each dish!

Passing through Longtown yesterday and came across the Graham Arms Hotel so stopped for some lunch. Warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere. Food good and hot with amazing home made chips. Can recommend the cumberland sausage and the baguettes. Lovely break to our journey, could have stayed all afternoon.

The staff at this hotel/restaurant, are very friendly and helpful. The food is good quality basic food, with no frills. As we were the only people in the restaurant we cannot comment on service when they might be busier. The restaurant offers good value. The range of drinks in the bar, but nothing special.

We stayed near Longtown for a week and used this hotel for 4 evening meals. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The Head Chef (Barry) was very friendly and ensured any changes to the menu asked for were checked and correctly served. All staff were pleasant and attentive. I would certainly recommend this hotel if you are in the area.

A group of us meet once a month for lunch under U3A.This was by far the worst lunch we have had for as long as I can remember. A choice of main + pudding + tea or coffee. All chosen in advance so the Hotel can get its act together. £15.00 a head which is more than we often pay. That would be OK for a good experience ...but The staff at the Hotel were all very pleasant and welcoming but some of the roast potatoes were cold in the middle, the Yorkshire pudding was ice cold in the middle the veg was served separately in serving dishes on the table. Standard but it lacked imagination. My choice for pud was Eton mess. It was a bowl of cream with a tin of strawberries dumped in it and a smidgin of meringue lurking and it was impossible to tell the difference between the coffee and the tea at the end of the meal.

Stopped off for something to eat after a day of visiting local attractions. We ordered drinks and then our meals. The food came out not long after we had ordered and was well presented and really tasty. The staff were so polite and friendly, we had a good chat with who I think was the owner? Couldn't manage a pudding and I was able to take my leftovers away in a takeaway box, it was too delicious not to! Will defiantly come back here if we are in the area.

You don't find many pubs like this one any more, filled with friendly locals (including Molly the dog). We took the steak and ale pie and the vegetable fajita. Both good quality, pleasant plates, and at £19,20 for that plus a large diet coke and a large sparkling water the price is pretty good too. But what really sold this place to me was the people, the staff and the character. Well worth a visit if you are passing through.

Lovely pleasant staff, nice enough restaurant area and relaxed feel. Only issue for me was that the starters were so nice the mains felt like a bit of a let down. The mains were nice enough (apart from the chips which were still rather hard in the middle) but they just weren't as good as the starters.

We ate dinner at the Graham Arms Hotel in September 2014. The food was very good - obviously cooked to order and served by friendly and very helpful staff. We have eaten here in the past (both lunch and dinner) and we were pleased that it was every bit as good as on our previous visits. Would definitely eat here again!

Here for a meal, service incredibly slow, even with advance phoning, waitress had to keep referring to the menu to get orders correct, coming back from the kitchen a few times to check as well. Understand options are limited but I am sure there is better nearby. Also I am very dubious at some of the reviews on here. When most of the reviewers have more likes than reviews, you wonder about the validity of their claims.

Stopped off here on a nice sunny Thursday afternoon with family for a bite to eat and we weren't disappointed. Lovely welcome from the lady behind the bar. Took our order. Unfortunately the ale that was on had gone past its best. When we notified her she couldn't apologise enough and immediately swapped it for something else. Without fuss. We ordered food which took a short while to come which I prefer as it indicates freshness and not "ping" food. Beautifully presented and very nice it was too. If you are passing this way and fancy a bite to eat be sure to call in here.

A group of us were celebrating the birth of a grand-daughter at the Graham Arm's. We wanted a bottled of fizz unfortunately there wasn't any on the wine list but Stewart the manager went off and found one - it was even chilled to a lovely temperature. Fantastic customer service we were all really impressed. We were also very impressed by the wonderful service from Megan the waitress, what a lovely young lady and yet again great customer service. She brought our food promptly, she was very efficient and smiled throughout the time she was serving us. Fabulous young lady who will definitely go far. Finally, the food, we all had starters and a main and everything was well presented. We will definitely return we've not experienced customer service such as this for a long time. Thank you Stewart and Megan.

We actually ate in the bar area & although this hotel does not look very inviting from the outside, the food was delicious & very reasonable. I had chicken fahitas, three wraps came with a dish of sizzling chicken, salad, & pots of grated cheese, salsa & mayonaise. My husband (extremely fussy) had a breaded plaice with a selection of vegetables. He said it was one of the nicest fish he had eaten.Staff were efficient & polite

Along with 3 friends, turned up at this establishment just as a large party of old folks were leaving and boarding their bus. We were greeted by a friendly member of staff who explained that the party leaving had filled the restaurant, so no tables were set up, but if we cared to wait and have a drink in the bar they would set a fresh table up. This was quickly set up. The service was good and the food, whilst basic pub grub, was fine and appropriately priced.

Just been to Gretna for a wedding, not having been in the area before I was unsure of where to stay, having two dogs choices are limited.Found the Graham Arms in a general search and booked it for one night only (this was due to other domestic arrangements)Phoned up a few days prior to our stay wanting a room early to get changed for a wedding, no problem at all was told the room would be ready by 12 noon. The wedding was at 4 pm.Check in was simple and the car park at the rear was a little quirky but handy and I didn't have to unload my dogs on the main road. The room was on the 2nd floor on the corner of the hotel, it was large clean tidy, spacious and overall very well presented. The ensuite was a shower room again adequate for our needs again clean, neat and tidy. The staff were very helpful and pointed out a walk a hundred meters or so from the hotel along the River Esk to exercise the dogs, nice day and the hours walk was excellent. Got ready and went to the wedding in Gretna Green returning at about 10pm. We were both very tired and went straight to the room, the bar looked inviting but just too tired. We live in a very quiet cul de sac and the only down side was that being on the main A7 there was a steady passge of traffic through the night which did have an impact but we did manage to drop off eventually. (A few tots may have cured that issue)We did not eat in the hotel but Breakfast the following morning was very good. I would consider a revisit if I find myself in the area again

Having read some of the reviews I felt the had to put my own view of my experience in writing. I am a local business owner who entertains customer's and suppliers from all over the UK, and I always recommend them staying at this hotel. People need to understand the this hotel is not the Savoy, nor is it a Michelin star restaurant, but the ambience is appealing and staff are always very welcoming. The food is always of a good standard and service staff are pleasant and accommodating. I have always found if I need to raise a question with a member of staff, they are very easy to approach and will do whatever they can to ensure your time in the hotel is a seamless experience, all you have to do is ask.

The restaurant setting is nice and the servers friendly. But we would give only 2 stars to the food. We had one of their specials for dinner, a fish encrusted with herbs. It turned out to be little more than fish with bread crumbs mixed with some herbs. Very bland and tasteless! If you have to eat at this restaurant (the other options in Longtown are takeaway places), you may want to order from the regular menu full of English classics which are getting good reviews.

Travelled from Yorkshire to meet family from Glasgow for Sunday lunch. The place is dirty, the food terrible and the service was quite beyond belief. This is a place that is stuck in the 1970s and should never be in business. I plead with you never to use this establishment, hopefully it will close down very soon

Always my favourite bar in Carlisle. The staff, drinks and decor are second to none. Whether it’s a lovely day enjoying the beer garden or a typical English weather day enjoying being sat by the fire this bar has it all covered. The hospitality is always out of this world and brings that elevated extra touch each time you visit. The attention to detail on the design of each area really makes each space luxurious and different to typical bars, highly recommended a visit for any occasion.

Staff were pleasant enough, but 2 out of the 4 main course meals were unacceptable. One of which was replaced as as totally inedible. The replacement was even worse. The starters, however were very nice.
