My husband and I stayed at this Lovely manor to break a journey up, it was fantastic we stayed in a superior room (the music room) dual aspect garden views. The evening meal was top notch and so was the breakfast, would definitely recommend..

Our son got married at this wonderful hotel in early June. From the very first look round the place a year ago until the actual day of the wedding, we were extremely impressed with the price, the facilities, the presentation, and the courtesy of all the staff. We have no hesitation in recommending this excellent location.

My first stay last week and so pleased I booked. Lovely laid back feel to the place , everyone spoke to each other at dinner and breakfast. Staff are amazing , food delist .I had the garden suite , enormous , straight out of a period drama. Own private courtyard to sit and read . I’d definitely go again …try and keep me away!

Visited Grafton Manor for a Babyshower for my daughter. A couple of us arrived a couple of hours earlier to put out decorations and prepare room. The room was dirty and not ready at all for our function. We had to ask them to vacuum carpet, which had to be done a couple more times. The furniture was random, mismatched and of poor quality. There was dusty, tired and old fashioned flower decorations that had to be removed from the room. It was really disappointing. The staff were helpful, pleasant and asked if we needed anything. The light buffet was appalling, no presentation skills. Thrown on plates and uninspiring. The usual beige buffet but of poor quality. I was extremely disappointed. There was no tea or coffee included in the price either, until my sister, with her good negation skills managed to squeeze a jug of both, eventually. Ladies toilets in a state not fit for purpose with broken windows, uneven carpet and toilet doors not closing. Overall a complete waste of money, unfit for purpose, tired and needs an overhaul.

My husband and I booked the garden suite for our anniversary September 2020. Customer service was good, the man on reception was helpful and polite and checked us in quickly with no problems. The room itself is beautiful, absolutely stunning with nice furniture and detail on the ceilings and nice wallpaper. There are some reviews.on here that say it is outdated but this is ignorant, it is decorated to fit the surroundings and style of building. The mirror has some marks on which do detract from the elegance but not too much. The bathroom is gorgeous and every peice of furniture is well thought and comes together to give a really unique feel. The bed was ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE and the most comfortable I have ever slept on, and the sofa was comfy too. We did not make any use of the dressing room (which also has a tv and a sofa) but it was kept in good condition and nice style).Downsides were that none of the curtains in the room fully shut (gap in the middle, due to the curtains being operated by a string pulley) and there were no net curtains. The room is completely visible to anyone at the front of the manor or in the car park unless the curtains are drawn. This is a shame as we stayed in the bridal suite and I would not like to be getting ready for a wedding (or in general) in a room with the curtains drawn during daylight hours. There are net curtains in the bathroom however at night the actual curtains do not close entirely so feel a bit exposed using the loo with the light on!We were expecting the outside space to be a bit more interesting (or even overlooking something) but it’s more like a little courtyard nothing special but it has places to sit and eat if you want to. Good for a bit of outdoor space. The windows let a lot of noise in (single pane due to age of building) and there is a motorway nearby so there is car noise almost at all times but you don’t notice it after about 5 mins of being there. There was ample parking space and the room was easy to access through a side door to which we were given a key. There was good space to store clothes and the usual toiletries were supplied. Good amount of towels provided, tea and coffee (and hot chocolate - get in!) provided in the room with a kettle. Hairdryer also.Lots of plug sockets around. - and the bathroom has a toothbrush charger socket.Tv has free view and quite a bit of information about the hotel on there (reception info, room service etc).Continental breakfast was really nice in the morning, fresh fruit, toast, yoghurt etc.In summary if you are looking to stay in a grand countryside manor with style and comfort this is for you. I would also recommend this suite for a weddings (as long as the curtains are fixed)We had a lovely time and would stay again if we came to Bromsgrove.

This manor should exude style and opulence. No! Mis matched chipped tables and chairs. Stuff that should be put in a bin or attic left next to the mens toilets.Great young waiters but the hierarchy think they know whats best and look down their noses. Albeit that anyone with a brain can work out that a bar queue is solved by having someone working on it!

This is my 3rd visit and tonight was an extremely cold evening. Warm inside but it would have been lovely to have seen the open fire working to give atmosphere which I think this place lacks. It’s such a beautiful building. Food was good but service was slow with just one young man taking orders, serving at the bar, answering the phone etc etc. Had to wait ages for drinks to be served. Well done though to him who kept smiling, was calm and attentive despite the pressure he must have felt. He well deserved his tip from us.

My friend and I have visited Grafton Manor for Afternoon Tea and several occasions using the Groupon Vouchers. I have to say, contrary to other reviews, that we have always enjoyed it, we wouldn't be going back for more otherwise! The staff are always very welcoming. The hotel is an old Manor House style. You feel like you are going there for an occasion. If you want somewhere modern, don't go here. We are never rushed. Tea and coffee is plentiful and the food is served up very nicely. Maybe this last time the cakes were a bot samey, but still lovely. we are looking forward to our next visit!!

I was bought a Groupon voucher for prosecco afternoon tea here and looked forward to it as had heard good things about Grafton Manor. To be fair to them, they let me book it days after my voucher expired which they didn't have to do but generally I wasn't overly impressed with the actual afternoon tea or grounds/decor of this manor house - quite run down, cobwebs etc. There was only one girl working who looked rushed off her feet bless her, and it was only my mom and I in the dining area which made the atmosphere very ... quiet! The selection of food on the afternoon tea was very standard and nothing really special about it. I usually take bits home with me in a doggie bag but I didn't bother which says it all! I think they also played a christmas song in the background which I thought was weird...

I’ll start with a positive, the steak meal we had was very good and could not really fault. However this is such a lovely setting and the restaurant now seems an afterthought with weddings and parties taking precedent. On entering there was nobody to greet us.Inexperienced staff member then appeared and had no idea how to mix drinks.Second staff member gave us menus, did not as if we wanted starter, water on table, no bread..just all the basics you would expect. Finally they didn’t have any red wine suitable to go with steak....this was really astonishing! For goodness sake if you advertise a steak evening make sure you’ve got an adequate wine selection to go with it!We then finished off our drinks in the bar area which looks like it had been furnished from a charity shop. This could be an amazing place to eat but there are sadly so many things wrong.

Despite the grand looking house and warm welcome from the attentive staff we couldn't overlook the fact that we had an afternoon tea that was really nothing special to match the house and location. Chipped crockery, a dirty teapot, not really what you expect from such an establishment. Sandwiches were tasty but unadventurous and cake selection cut up into tiny pieces so more like a taster selection. It was adequate but underwhelming in lots of ways.

Me and a group of friends reserved an afternoon tea at the Manor through groupon. The building was very historic and was very pleasant inside, it had a Victorian feel to it. We were impressed with the friendly staff and service which was very attentive and helpful. The afternoon tea comprised of finger sandwiches with various fillings, scones with jam and clotted cream and some small cakes. It was lovely food but I feel for the number of people in our party the food wasn’t enough-the cakes were bite size and we only had one scone each. Compared to other teas it was very little for what we paid. It was nice though and we had a lovely afternoon overall.

The grounds looked quite nice and would be beautiful, I imagine on a summers day. We were greeted by a very friendly lady, who showed us to our table. The staff were very friendly and polite. However the afternoon tea was a let down. Rather than the lovely cakes they show on their website, we had, what looked like discount supermarket bites (please see pic). The manager was very pleasant as were all the staff we came into contact with, although I think there needs some money ploughed into the building, little things like clean carpets and some chairs need recovering, and windows cleaned? The ladies toilet is up two flights of stairs and the door to the toilet scrapes on the toilet itself so quite a small space. The building and grounds are beautiful and well worth another trip out

We had the place to ourselves and enjoyed delicious sandwiches- we had asked for all vegetarian, and they were very tasty, fruit scones with clotted cream and jam, and petit fours, a selection of five each, and they were delicious and just enough for us. Then we had a walk around the lovely grounds. It is a very nice hotel, set in lovely grounds and I would go back again as the food and service were very good, and it was comfortable and tastefully decorated, and architecturally interesting too. Really disappointed. Booked a table and had looked at the Sunday Lunch Menu online but when we arrived the menu was completely different. There was only one other table of two in the restaurant and we still waited 30 minutes for our starters. Not offered a wine list or any water. In fact we weren’t offered any drinks apart from upon arrival so I had to go to the bar midway through my meal to ask for more drinks. They boast about a gin bar but my husband asked for a gin a tonic and wasn’t even asked which gin he would like was just given the bog standard. Food was ok but very bland. No atmosphere in the restaurant at all. Couldn’t wait to leave and certainly wouldn’t bother going back.

I found the food was quite good, however I thought it was slightly overpriced for the level of service and quality of food. When we rang up recently to book a table, the receptionist did not know if the restaurant was open or not, ‘it depends if there is a wedding’, she told us. How we are supposed to know this, is a little beyond me.It seems to me that they open the restaurant when they don’t have something more lucrative i.e. a wedding. This really is nothing other than utter contempt for the customer; I have voted with my feet, enough said.

In my younger days, all too long ago, if you were going to Grafton Manor in Bromsgrove you were going to a majestic Elizabethan manor house that was very grand and opulant with well laid out and extensive gardens (with lake). Well, the manor is still Elizabethan with extensive gardens (and lake) but the whole building and grounds are very tired and in need of a makeover.Having said that, the meal we had was a simple lunch affair with friends, comprising an excellent Green Pea and Coriander Soup, Braised Lamb with potatoes, glazed carrots and cabbage (all seasonal and freshly prepared), and to end we had a lovely lemon tart. The meal itself was excellent and the setting magnificent - especially as the 40 or so of us were the only ones there - and the walk around the grounds on a sunny afternoon was just what was required.Unfortunately, the grounds and external structures now let the place down - as does the constant drone of traffic from the M5 motorway some 1 mile distant which was invasive to the ear. I don't remember that from my far off days!Would we return? Certainly - but I will have to turn my gardening instincts off!

When we first moved to Bromsgrove 20 years ago the Grafton was recommended as a place to go for that special occasion. Over the years we have visited for Christmases, birthdays etc.As mentioned in previous reviews - it is an "interesting building" but you are left with the feeling that the whole place is in need of a refurbishment. The decor is of the right period but it does seem in need of a little "love".In the past I have been very impressed with the food but on our last visit the meal was barely adequate and more time needs to be invested in staff training. This is not a cheap restaurant but it needs to raise its standards to justify the cost.We will probably give them another try in about 6 months, as we have some happy memories of past meals but if there is not an improvement we will vote with our feet. Please get it right as your past reputation will only bring diners to you for a limited period.

I was told this wasn't allowed because they don't want to be liable for diners who get food poisoning after eating leftovers at home. No other restaurant I've been to has ever come up with this line. My friends in the restaurant trade were equally amused. I haven't been back since.

Grafton Manor is a interesting building with some old bits but with modern comfort and welcoming, attentive staff. It was a cold day but the room nice and cosy. The Mothering Sunday menu was varied and interesting; the food was well cooked and beautifully presented. Our only disappointment was that the weather kept us indoors when the grounds looked worthy of further investigation.

I have been to Grafton Manor many times and never been disappointed. Last night we ate off the Indian food festival menu. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. All in all it was a great night out at a wonderful venue!

We had an excellent company Christmas Lunch today at Grafton Manor. Very relaxed atmosphere in this lovely, traditional country house. The food was of a very high standard, and the staff loked after us really well. A very enjoyable lunch.

Have been going regularly to Grafton for their Sunday lunches and have never had any disappointments. It is such a relaxing place, complete with log fire and fantastic food. Would recommend for everyone including families.

found the food to be very bland, probably wouldn't recommend to go back. the manor itself is very grand and nice, but doesn't make up for the poor inedible food.

Not the restaurant it used to be. The food was mediocre as was the service. There was no sign of an Indian influence in the menu, so I wonder if there is a new chef and possibly a new owner.

We ate off the special June menu. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Service was superb. Couldn't fault in any way.

Last night I tried to book a table for next week, for the Indian Food Festival. I dialled the number on the flyer and the phone rang for ages without being picked up. I thought they could be busy and phoned back after a few minutes, this time someone on the other end of the line disconnected my call. Given that this is a hotel and the number went to the reception desk, I am appalled! After discussing the matter with the other members of our party, it was unanimously agreed to give our money to a restaurant that values our custom!

We visited last night on the first day of the Indian Food Festival being run throughout January, inspired by their apparently award winning chef. Have to say we were very impressed, firstly by the fantastic setting in this grand old place, and of course by the food. This is a fairly set menu for £30 per head, starting off with a glass of sparkling and some homemade bhaji type appetizers, followed by poppadoms and delicious homemade Indian breads and some of the best chutneys we have had. There was a choice of starters, which were very different from the type you get in this area, including our two of tamarind mackerel and curried prawns with chorizo, both of which were excellent.Mains were fairly safe, served in a buffet style so you could try all dishes including vegetarian options, with a more Moroccan style lamb and apricot dish standing out.Deserts gave a good ending, back to the more unusual but tasty dishes, and coffee in their spacious guest lounge was a nice way to finish.Living in Bromsgrove but having not eaten here before, we were very pleased, and at around £75 for the two of us this was good value for the amount and variety of food we had, although perhaps more than other places in the area so more one for special occasions. Overall I would recommend this for anyone looking for something different to try while the festival is on.

Loved everything about the Grafton. We went for a cousin's wedding and the whole affair was splendid, tho tricky to get a drink at the bar before the dinner, so could get thirsty!!

For around £25 per person for 3 courses (+ extras) this was a great night out. The price includes a glass of house red, white or rose on arrival which is served in the parlour upstairs infront of a roaring log fire. Nibbles are also served while you look at the menu which is a lovely touch (no extra charge for these). After choosing our meal and wine we were led downstairs to our candlelit table. We were served homemade bread (also included in price) and iced water without us having to ask. Whilst the individual portions are not huge - collectively what you are served from arrival to dessert is very filing and very tasty indeed! Additional charges are any extra side dishes with mains, wine at the table and any coffee or dessert wines- we just went for more wine!I believe that you would struggle to find this quality of food and service together in one place at a great price anywhere else in the area. We will be back!!!

My husband and I were being taken to Grafton Manor for a meal with friends, and as we were new to the area and had not heard of the place we were looking forward to the experience. My friend had eaten there previously and had thought the food and prices were not too bad. Not so this time!It was Mother's Day and maybe the menu had been designed to rip-off a captive market but at £28+ for a meal, (not including any drinks), which involved choosing from about three choices per course was not my idea of good selection. My friend had pate, a great lump of pate, but with no bread/toast and when she asked for some, she was kept waiting and then offered two quarter pieces of toast! The main courses, were very small, two pieces of meat and obviously warmed-up vegetables consisting of about three potatoes, a dry, burnt parsnip and some withered looking greens. The desserts were very, very dull and small. To then order tea and coffee and be charged , we considered was adding insult to injury! I would think that unless this restaurant improves, many people will certainly not be eating there again.

The question you should ask yourself is when you eat at a restaurant can the price you pay per head depend on if you have an odd or even number of people in your party? Of course not because that would just be silly. Welcome to Grafton Manor. How can a restaurant charge you more for just being single? Tried to re-book (after being taken by some friends) 5 people in for meal to be told the fifth person would have to pay 50% more than the other four. Honestly I am not joking.....they were being deadly serious.I was promised a call back to discuss the matter with the managers who have not even be bothered to call me.They clearly have no idea what customer service is or how to run a restaurant. The member of staff I spoke to was useless. My advice........go somewhere else where you will feel more welcome - especially if you don't currently have a partner!

Grafton Manor is the perfect setting for a romantic meal. Its a former Country house within its own well manicured grounds. Impeccable service is provided from the moment you arrive until you leave. Pre and after dinner drinks are taken in a sumptuous lounge, a truly stately setting in which to relax. We had booked for the Valentines Day lunch and each specially created course was delicious. The extensive wine list can cater to all tastes and budgets. It was wonderful to pass the time on a Sunday afternoon in front of the roaring log fire in a sumptuous lounge after enjoying such good food and wine. Given the setting, excellent service and very good food makes this family owned establishment good value for money and worthy of strong recommendation. Its really like being entertained in an era from a bygone age and well away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.

Always enjoy the food here and prefer to visit and eat in. Our American relatives said it was the best indian meal they had while in UK, so much so they went twice, once with us and then with other old friends. Friendly staff and really excellent food. it's a pity that Covid meant that they had to focus on takeaways because it is clean, comfortable, you can take your own drinks and you are made to feel welcome inside. If you like indian food this will take some beating.

Used this restaurant for years and it used to be good. This visit was the worst I’ve had anywhere. Booking that was made 5 days before, couldn’t be found . It was not full but then when we eventually got a table and given menus we were then asked 6 times in 10 minutes for our order by one server and no reason for it as it was getting more empty. Starters were brought out and then immediately main courses followed which just made us feel rushed. The manager , who we have known from previous visits, was having an argument with one of the staff and telling them off in view of the customers which is poor and he should know better.and both he and the man at the till were really unfriendly and the serving staff , apart from a younger man , with a beard , were not happy and really moody all the time . The ladies amongst our party described the toilets as filthy and smelly. Would definitely not recommend using this Restaurant! Very poor experience!
