Fantastic location but a shame about the food. We were 5 hungry cyclists. We were told they were running down stocks of food because there was a function the next day. There was one vegetable pastie, one vegan roll and both disgusting as microwaved. I had the last scone which was stale. This left others with a piece of cake and a bag of crisps. Such a shame as I for one will not be eating there again!

After a walk through Luds Church and up onto the ridge we stopped off for coffee and cake. It was just what the doctor ordered and a beautiful spot to sit and relax after a walk.

First visit to Gradbach Mill. Wow what a beautiful place in a stunning location. We walked from the mill up to Luds Church which was amazing then returned to the cafe. Imogen made us feel very welcome she served us delicious oatcakes and a cream tea, we were informed that all the cakes, scones and tray bakes are homemade! We sat outside overlooking the river. We would definitely return without hesitation.

Came across this gem of a cafe after a walk to Lud's Church. Great options for vegans. Local beers from Wincle Brewery. Delicious looking cakes and scones! Local Staffordshire Oatcakes....beautiful setting by the river and friendly staff. Highly recommended 👌

The renovation of the farmhouse and mill is quite impressive, but we made the mistake of stopping to eat at the cafe. We ordered 2 Staffordshire oatcakes (with cheese), 2 roast beef wraps, 2 teas and 2 soft drinks. Both the roast beef wraps and 1 of the oatcakes went straight in the bin as they totally inedible - without doubt the worse food I have ever been served. Both of the teas went down the drain as they were almost as bad as the food. One to avoid.

We just had a coffee at the outdoor cafe as there was an event on in the main building. It's a lovely place to sit on a picnic bench and relax by the river. My major gripe, though, was the coffee. It cost £2.80 for what tasted more or less like warm water with a bit of milk, and looked like cloudy dishwater. Honestly, I'd rather pay less and just get a strong instant coffee. Maybe it was just a bad day...

We visited Gradbach as a family for a nice walk on a weekend. The café queue went down very quickly and we ordered warm food, drinks and ice creams. Our family is vegetarian and vegan and there was a great range of choice for all of us, the highlight being vegan sausage rolls but there were also vegan cookies, brownies and ice cream! It was just what we needed after our walk and it felt great to be catered for to such a high standard! I hope more places follow suit 😊

We got up early today to head Gradbach and walk to Luds church , amazing surroundings and noticed that the cafe opened at 10 perfect for a coffee and some breakfast on the way back . We Arrived at the cafe a few minutes after 10 to Be told that it would be 5 to 10 minutes before it was ready to be open ! We waited whilst a surely member of staff cleaned the toilets and he eventually went to the cafe to open up ! No rush in him , and to be honest I didn’t feel like a customer more of a hinderance ! Anyway we ordered coffee and food and that came quickly, it seemed expensive for what we got but there we go , my main reason for the poor review is the male staff members unfortunate manner and the false opening time ! I work in customer services where I have to welcome customers from 7.30 am and often feel tired but that doesn’t stop me making the customers feel Valued and I certainly don’t open up late ! Service with a smile Wouldn’t go amiss !

The cafe is situated next to a lovely river which runs next to the mill. A variety of food and drinks are on offer; there’s plenty of tasty-looking cakes and biscuits to try.We drank tea and sat on their tables by the river; it’s a beautiful spot and definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area. The prices are normal and I really enjoyed the tea; it’s rare to find good black tea which isn’t excessively bitter.

We had a family Christmas dinner here with 18 of us sitting down. The food was very good at a reasonable price, the service was warm and the location fantastic. Well worth routing out this little gem for that special occasion.

A group of 14 have just got back from the most fabulous hen weekend. A huge thank you to Colin, Kelly, Luke and the rest of the team who ensured we all had the best time. Our rooms were lovely, warm and clean. The food was just fabulous. No complaints from any of our party. The surrounding area was perfect for a long walk after the night before. We can't thank you all enough! x x

A great find on a walk from the Roaches via Luds church and Danebridge. However, the lovely outdoor cafe opens only Sat and Sunday. Being a weekday, we asked at the mill if it was possible to get something to drink which it was - albeit in take away cups. A good stopping off point and plenty of outdoor seating to rest weary legs.

The bar food on this occasion, i had spaghetti Bolognese, (difficult to get wrong!) was tasteless and was meant to come with garlic flat bread it actually came with a folded over plain nan. The white wine was fizzy which went back and the replacement was also fizzy. Breakfast was unimaginative, So because of this i feel that this establishment is overpriced. The room layout was also not good 2 single beds one being placed under the tv

After a good walk around the neighbouring hills surrounding Lud's Church, in this summer heat, this was such a welcome chance to sit down out of the sun. We were served by two very pleasant young ladies, the place was beautifully clean, well stocked and juts what we needed.

We booked in on the tea for two. I called back a few days later to ask for my tea for two to be gluten free (I'm Ceoliac) The receptionist informed me that my meal would be an extra £5. I have never been charged extra for an allergy. Having a gluten intolerance is a disease, wonder if you're charged extra for a vegan option? I won't be visiting. I cancelled the tea. Warning to all other sufferers, go somewhere else.

Service was slow for the party we were with. My dessert arrived nearly 10 minutes after the first one for my table arrived. Food was a little disappointing.
