I hope I am correct in assuming the name of the coffee shop has changed from Gorge Us to Our Coffer shop and I am reviewing correct place. I am a great fan of afternoon tea and I rate the afternoon tea at this cafe as unbeatable in value variety and taste. I chose to visit again for my birthday with friends who don’t live in the local area. I explained the place itself is “quirky” to say the least but I highly rate the food and service as every time I have ever eaten there it has been excellent. We placed the order via Facebook giving all of our choice of sandwich filling in advance. One of the group has specific dietary requirements as she is dairy free and this was noted also. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the afternoon tea was a great success as always but what makes it stand out for me is the most amazing home made cake selection you get with it. My “dairy free” friend was truly amazed at her separate tier of goodies to eat. They had gone above and beyond to cater for her and she appreciated it so much we are booking again for her birthday in May. Another friend with us said she would definitely be booking for her mums birthday. I think that sums up how good the experience was

Food and service was average. The shop could have done with some heating as it was freezing. Cakes were ok, but a bit sickly after a couple of bites.

This review is for our coffee shop which I am unable to find on tripadvisor, but this is is the establishment by the previous owners name. I visited on a Wednesday with my 4 year old. We were the ONLY ones in there for 90% of duration of visit and yet the food and service was shocking, hate to see what it’s like when it’s busy. Waited 15 minutes for menus, waited another 10 minutes for some milk to go with my tea that didn’t arrive. Enquired whether I could have a single pancake for my daughter as they only did an adult stack and was rudely and flatly told no. A request I’m sure could easily have been accommodated. The food was abysmal I had two hard boiled eggs for poached eggs and didn’t even eat them, the sausages were black and wrinkly as though they had been reheated, disgusting, again they were left I just ate the toast. I waited a total of 40 minutes with this shocking fold left on a plate in front of me waiting for someone to come and clear and maybe ask if all was ok, but no nothing. No check back, and not even anyone to clear the table...I got sick of looking at it in the end and went and paid the bill to get out of there. Will never be returning. Pics for attention, if you can’t even poach an egg and give decent customer service, maybe don’t run a cafe...?

1st visit, after picking a random thing to do on a sunny Saturday. Found by searching for top 50 things to do in Wirral (Is no. 22). Pulled into small shopping area and found Cafe close by, although it's not called Gorge'us on the sign. It's called: Our Coffee Shop. A Single large room with service area at the rear, a few seats in the window with old fashioned, but comfy seats and about 8 other tables. A family table which had taken over the centre of the whole space were just leaving as we entered. After clearing tables were move around and it felt less crowded. Looks wise, it wasn't too exciting, a little art on the walls but otherwise nondescript. We took the available seats in the window. Menu is a nice range of Sandwiches which can all be served as Sandwiches, Panani Etc. I chose the Goats Cheese with Bacon and asked for the Caramelised Onion relish from another option, order was quick to be taken by very pleasant staff, and served quickly too. With a small salad, Coleslaw and crisps. It was a big couple of slices of very nice goats cheese, crispy rashers and the relish was sweet and tasty. We wanted to take cakes home afterwards but the selection was limited, they apologised that they had been very busy throughout the morning. A couple of BIG slices of lemon cake and bake-well tart cake were left which we had later and were delicious. Very moist sponges, fruits jams or icings.

Waitress was so rude. We asked to push two small tables together as there were three of us and one is heavily pregnant. She rolled her eyes and said, well I have just taken them apart but ok then, yes. She then proceeded to question further on why we needed more room when there were only three of us. It was so awkward. We all felt too embarrassed to walk out but immediately felt we wanted to leave. During our meal, which was average, she slammed some cheap plastic flowers on the table in front of me without explanation. There were plenty of empty tables nearby she could have moved them too. It was like being served by Kevin the moody teenager. Appauling experience. Our Coffee Shop has no online presence as they are peddling their wares on the back of the previous cafe, Gorgeous. I think this may be deliberate as if they treat customers in this way, all the reviews would be terrible. I noticed the waitress seemed pleasant to the regular, elderly clientele. Some of them even referred to her by first name. Clearly they are the only customers who deserve respect. If this was the only cafe left in Merseyside, we still wouldn't visit! DREADFUL!!!

Live locally so never usually feel the need to visit local cafes but I am a regular user of cafes home and abroad. This tiny cafe is hardly taxing for any waitress which I could sometimes be more understanding of for down right rudeness. The menus were not on the tables which is usually a clue that orders are taken at the table. I went to the counter to be told abruptly take a menu and sit down, not a smile or good morning. I had waited at the counter long enough to have picked what I wanted but did as I was told! Waitress then took my order still no smile or anything else. What I found more annoying was how warm and friendly the waitress was to the next few customers who were obviously regulars, it made me feel even more unwelcome, this establishment is obviously not in need of new customers which is just as well as I would never visit again which is a shame as the food was very good!!

Bold statement to make but in my view it is one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Poached eggs were cooked to perfection, sausages and black pudding we're full of flavor, streak bacon may put people off but I am a fan of all bacon so not a problem 😂. Fantastic service from boy and girl working the front of house (don't know the names sorry). Coffee was also delicious had a flat white followed by a cappuccino. My fiance also had a ciabatta with bacon, Brie and cranberry sauce I couldn't resist having a taste and just like the breakfast it was beautiful. Very impressed for my first visit despite being a local lad and will definitely be returning for breakfast whenever I get the chance.

First visit here. I have lived in the local area for years and didn’t know it was here! Loved the decor, it was like sitting in my grandmas front room. No menu on table just a black board above till which was difficult for my mum to read. I think they probably have a different menu after 12pm. We arrived at 11:30 so there was limited choice however, we all enjoyed what we chose. My little one had hot chocolate and jam and bread (he prefers bread to toast). Mum had orange juice and eggs Benedict; just a little disappointed the eggs weren’t runny I side. I had decaf latte and beans and poached egg on toast. Again the yolks were firm. We were all fairly full of however couldn’t resist the array of cakes! Mum had lemon meringue cake (a delightful concoction of meringue and cake), son had Bakewell tart (no almond flavour) and I had lemon drizzle. We will certainly go back.

My mum is a regular at Gorge'us but this was our first time and we will definitely be back! From the outside it's very understated but when we opened the door, there was a bustling room full of mum's with their toddlers, friends catching up, workers on lunch break and us, there to celebrate mum's birthday. The sofas, the hotch potch of furniture and the china cups and sauces all add to the charm of the place. But it has to be the food that is the star here - the cakes are divine and made on the premises. Gluten free for those of us who need that too! The sandwiches and soup are just yum with lots of added extras including salad, coleslaw and crisps. And if the decor and food aren't enough, the staff are just lovely. You feel like part of the Gorge'us family when you come here and what a Gorge'us feeling that is!

Afternoon tea is amazing. Such a gorge us venue. The staff are lovely & really went out their way to make me a dairy gluten free & veggie delight. Wow. Thank you. The cakes were Devine & the scones were so fresh I ate them all. The best I've had & I've tried many. My friends loved their normal cakes & sandwiches too. My nephew was overwhelmed with his first afternoon tea at 10 years of age he's planning his next visit. We even got take aways to finish off at home. Lovely thank you so much. X

What a warm, cosy, little cafe. I was offered a choice of 5 different gluten free bakes! I have never had such a selection in a cafe and was delighted. They included chocolate cake, lemon meringue cake, brownies, granola bars or Bakewell tart (which I opted for). Delicious tart and paired it with a loose leaf peppermint tea, served in beautiful china. Felt like I could've spent all afternoon there. Looking forward to returning very soon.

Cute little cafe on the Wirral. I ordered gluten free and dairy free afternoon tea. The cafe had totally gone out of their way to make coconut cream for the scones and make sure that I had a choice of different cakes. I had the lemon almond cake which was probably one of the best gluten free cakes I've ever had (along with the scone). I've ate a lot of cakes in my time, and this is certainly up there. My partner had the chocolate cake and salmon cream cheese sandwiches and was equally pleased.Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Would definitely go back here again.

I have visited Gorge 'us twice for afternoon tea in the past month. I visited for Mother's Day with my mum and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea...it was £12.50, and to be honest I would probably have liked a bit more variety in the sandwiches but on a whole it was lovely...we returned with a couple of other family members 2 weeks later and had exactly the same food (prebooked table as there were 5 of us) We enjoyed it again, huge choice of cakes, and lots of gluten free! I was just a little disappointed that when I went to pay it had gone up to £15 per person,so as I was paying for 3 of us it was quite a steep rise in the price, for nothing extra added to the cake stand. I was disappointed as the price increase wasn't mentioned when I called to book, and to be honest for a small tearoom I felt it was quite pricey for what we got on the cake stand-I have had afternoon tea which also included Prosecco in other places for the same price. The cakes are delicious so I will still visit for just tea and cake but won't be buying afternoon tea there again.

After my best friend seeing lots if pictures on social media, she mentioned she would love to go. So I bought her afternoon tea vouchers for her birthday. She was so excited. We arrived, sa at our table and 5hen asked to choose what we were having. We replied "we are having the afternoon tea". The lady replied- "yes. Choose a sandwich each and a piece of cake each". We did that and shortly it arrived on a three tier cake stand. One sandwich each and one slice of cake each. Topped off with a scone. Not exactly my idea of an afternoon tea is (usually a selection of sandwiches and cakes) very disappointed and won't be visiting again.

I reserved an afternoon tea with my family (kids aged 2, 4, and 7). While it's probably not the kind of place kids usually go to, the service was fantastic and they were very kind and patient with the kids. My wife has coeliac and they were good at accommodating her by keeping her food separate from gluten containing dishes. Their selection of gluten free baked goods really made her happy. If you have a friend or family member who can't have gluten, you have to take them here. Their regular cakes and baked goods were very good as well.

A cute and cosy tea room tucked away! The choice of gluten free cakes was great as most other cafes don't have anything suitable for me! Introduced recently by a colleague, this is truly a hidden Gem. Tucked away in Spital shops, this pretty little cafe is welcoming and has more cake on offer than could have even appeased Marie Antoinette. A range of dietary options are also available (such as Gluten Free). It could be improved by selling a more modern take on coffee (such as offering flat whites), however I can only comment on what I had, and that was quite literally the best Egg Sandwich I have had in some time. Needless to say, I'll be back.
