Food was OK portions a bit small and burger a bit bland ( no options for adding in anything extra) Delivery time very good

one piece of fish was lovely the other tasted rank and couldn't be eaten so was thrown in the bin

The chips were good, the fish was not bad but I've had better ones in other places. The batter could be more crispy and the fish could be more flaky. The mushy peas were very honest. All in all a friendly place with an ok quality. Located in Rochester high street makes it easy if you're visiting the town.

First time visiting Gordon chippy. There was no haddock available or tango apple. I had cod and chips , freshly cooked . Not bad quality fish but very greasy batter and soggy chips . Very average chippy . lots of teenagers swearing in the street outside the chippy .. not the fault of the chippy but still wasn't a pleasant experience..

The fish was very small, we ordered a large chips and received one portion of regular chips and they did not send a battered sausage with the order. Food tasted okay but won’t be ordering again.

Absolutely disgusting, swimming in thick yellow oil, fish undercooked, unedible did not ask for sushi, tasted vile and ended up in the bin, fish was not the consistency I know as cod! Do not waste your time and money. Chips were not any better.

Didn’t deliver the chips and gave us an additional sausage? Tried to contact them to sort it out and the number is incorrect as well.

Completely messed up our order by not sending out the chips, sent an additional sausage, which we didn’t want, and sent the wrong pie too. I tried calling and the number is incorrect so I had no way to sort the order out. Don’t bother going here if you want the staff to decide what they send out!

Staff didn't seem to listen to requests and both fish and chips very undercooked (no excuse for the chips any day of the week, absolutely none for the fish because I specifically asked for it to be well cooked). However, at least they served the fish without skin

Most anaemic, oil laden chips i have had. Oil is not hot enough to fry in, terrible.

£3.80 for a portion of chips. Never seen so many green and black chips in a single portion. After sorting through the pile and selecting a decent chip I was reduced to a handful and the rest went in the bin. First and probably last visit.

JustEat's driver kept pushing back the time of delivery, from 17:25 to 19:00, so the food arrived cold and sggy.

ordered a children's fish bites and they were very soggy and no drink came either even though it was stated it comes with a drink. my husband's cod and my battered sausage batter was extremely soggy as well.

Went in today, the food was hot, freshly cooked. Only that when I got home. I started eating, I noticed. I didn't get her rock I asked & paid for. No single bone which is the rocks give away. I'm pretty sure I got cod. The food was delicious & hot & didn't stop us enjoyed our meals.

For £6.60 I’d expect more than a potatoes worth of chips. A lovely microwaved battered sausage to go with it :(

Disgusting. Gave my family upset stomachs

Had an awful experience here a few years back with uncooked fish and chips - had to argue for some time to get my money back. Assuming things must have changed and because it was looking busy, yesterday afternoon we bought four portions of chips. Three out of four of us felt unwell within the hour and this morning still not great.

Food is so slow. I visit during my lunch hour and it doesn't leave long enough to eat and go back. I can't be sure but it does appear they increase prices during summer holidays which feels a bit disingenuous considering they don't put any more staff on.

Chips were soft and medium chip portion is more like a small !

Got a large chips and it was in a tiny bag! Not even a small portion!!

I had a cod which was packed in a box and along with spoon and folk, so it's easy for me to finish it on the chair next to Cathedral which opposite the shop. The fish is good and the staff is friendly. I've attached the photos I've taken today.(include the latest menu) 25/Jul/2023

How is this shop still trading? Wish I'd read reviews before I ordered one of the worst bag of chips I've ever had. Service was equally poor.

Not great wouldn't go back - the chips were OK but not a normal portion size. Veggie burger ok. Burger was like cardboard. Bread roll for chips was a burger bun. No tartar sauce for scampi only told after I'd paid for it - £32.80 later! Would not recommend

Chips are to greasy and some of them were not fully cooked. Fish is ok but not even closely what you expect when you order fish and chips. Sauce is not included and you have to pay extra to get it. Not the worst if someone would ask if you want some sauce, so as someone who eats here for the first time it's extremely stupid? Yeah that should be the right word. Well have a nice day.

This is what was delivered to my home when I ordered fish and chips from this chippy! They tasted as bad as they look and the ‘chips’ were cold. In excess of £21 for this rubbish. This shop should be ashamed of itself. Do not buy from here!!!

Worst chippy I’ve ever come across. Fish tasted like bleach. Unsurprisingly triggered an upset stomach… The fish was watery, the batter undercooked and almost fluorescent yellow, and when you bit into it oil would trickle down your arm. The man in front of us walked out with oil pouring out of the box all down his trousers. The chips were an unappetising dark brown colour and had definitely been reheated. £10 for a pathetic sized portion (not that you’d want to have any more). Waited the best part of half an hour despite being second in line. I have been to this place before and felt unsatisfied, thought I’d give it the benefit of the doubt yday, but this experience was laughable.

Having been told there were no small sausages available we opted for jumbo sausage and chips each. It turned out my sausage was half a jumbo sausage hidden in the chips so we went back to speak to the assistant who said it “had probably fallen off and was hidden within the chips” it wasn’t, we clearly saw her eating something whilst preparing the food and presume it was the other half of my sausage.

£4.50 FOR A LARGE PORTION OF CHIPS THAT WERE SMALLER THAN A NORMAL CHIP SHOP SMALL. BURGER WAS OVER COOKED AND EACH MOUTHFUL WAS MAINLY BREAD, NO OPTION FOR SAUCE OR SALAD SO THOUGHT IT WOULD JUST BE IN THERE, NOT WORTH THE MONEY LUKE WARM AT BEST AND NT VERY TASTY. WILL NEVER USE AGAIN

Cod was tiny in size for a large and just tasted like water. Really poor and huge disappointment.

Very Dissapointed, Standard Cod was very small and so thin it was more Batter than fish (shame we cant add photos) The Cod Bites looked like they were bits that fell of the cod when frying them some didnt even have cod in them, Burger "meat" looked very cheap, and the chips were brown and soggy

Turned up with my partner for a quick bite to eat and we were sat there waiting for half an hour. Whole time being in there the same person was still being served and all they asked for was a fish and large chips yet we were there for half an hour and he still hasn’t been served. There was also another 3 people waiting so god only knows how long we’d of been waiting if we didn’t just go when we did. Won’t be returning that’s a fact.

I ordered via Justeat. The food arrived on time and on the face if it looked okay. The taste however was something else. Everything tasted as if it had been cooked in dirty oil, it was also very oily too so the taste of the food was overwhelmed by oiliness. Checking their websites contact page I just found information on location and opening times but no contact details. That left me with Justeat who refused my refund claim on the basis that " all outlets use different recipes when preparing their food " well if oiliness is a recipe I never heard of it. A further message to Justeat was also fruitless so sadly my regular relationship with them is over. If I had purchased it directly I would have returned it directly but from previous experience if one goes through a third party, any complaint has to be made to the third party as it is their contract and not mine. If you follow me you will see that I rarely complain. Yes the Gordon Chippy has in my opinion sent out poor quality for which at £30 was not cheap but my main issue is that Justeat have failed to resolve my problem by hiding behind procedure and invalid excuses. Dirty oil is not a recipe Justeat!

Horrible. Mushy batter on fish. Chips tasted like they use mouldy potatoes. Too expensive. Cooked by two young students. Old lady with poor English came from upstairs to do refund after long wait.

Cooked to order. Cheap and cheerful. Good sized portion and friendly staff. I recommend the cod bites and chips.

Four of us came around 1 pm 3rd March 2023 ate in had fish and chips. A lovely lady served us , who was working alone, and was very friendly. food was very good both the chips and the fish were lovely. We was visiting Rochester from north London on a day trip, if u visit Rochester I recommend Gordon’s chippy. I should add price was very reasonable for four meals and drinks

29 Bux for 2 large cod and 2 large chip's, Received 2 small cods and Medium chips compared to other outlet's... also Mushy Peas were more like p's in water... First time ordered from here.. may use again if i'm hungry.. the food was nice though..

Nice chips, freshly cooked. The ladies were both very helpful. My daughter needed a quick bite before returning to London , so was great.

The staff are very rude, very slow act making things and price is very overpriced for what you get. We asked for cheesy chips we paid then they come and say we don’t have cheese but never refunded the different for normal chips. One of the worst fish and chip places I have ever been too.

DON’T BOTHER GOING HERE! AVOID!!!! I’m a local resident I’ve visited here before and it’s been average. Came here during Dickens Festival and had the worst experience. Talk about trying to rip people off. The already over priced menu had been covered over with a Dickens Festival menu and a massive mark up. An extra 90p on the already over priced sausage. Cod bites looked like scraps of batter not cod and chips served in a small container as they refused to wrap it

Overpriced and below average food. Asked me for 30 pence for a small sachet of ketchup. Not good practice. Dickens worked in Rochester and the spirit of Ebenezer Scrooge lives in this chippy. AVOID!!!

You’d get better customer service in Guantánamo Bay. Awful experience chips were hard and tasteless and a uncooked sausage in batter. I’d be surprised if the sausage was made from pork.

Good quality food but not has hot as our last delivery we had.

Pleased with the quaity and warmth of the food. Although the delivery was late, we were impressed with the updates given and being able follow the delivery on the map. A very good experience overall.

The fish was very disappointing.Not fresh at all. I couldn't eat it. The chicken nuggets also tasted like fish. Maybe cooked in the same oil? Overall very disappointing unfortunately

Ordered 2 cod and a medium chips The chips had been kept warm and were hard and tasteless the cod is definitely not cod !!! It’s mushy not flaky, totally rubbish, take some advice go anywhere else but here , ile be reporting the cod substitution to trading standards

Chips were brown and tasted like they had sat for a long time. Ordered a large chips which anywhere else is enough for 2 adults and child. Not from here, there was barely enough for two adults. Fish portions were really small.

Ordered a large cod and chips and a small cod and chips with not much difference between the large cod and the small cod, yet a difference in price for a tiny bit of extra fish. The taste of the fish was boring and bland and the chips weren't really exciting either. The fact you have to pay 30p for a tiny satchet of ketchup is just a pure rip off and also the fact they won't give you a glass of tap water with the amount of money spent is a joke. Spent around near to forty pounds at this place and a mistake it was. The wait time for two cod and chips was over twenty minutes too! People vote with their feet and this person will NEVER be going back there. Rip off prices and rip off portion sizes. EDIT: Thanks for the food poisoning, dirty people.

5th june 2022 went down to Dickens festival ordered a large fish and chips a little plastic tray i got small fish & chips and can off drink £10.50 what a rip off as a hard times the British public are going through we have this fish shop that’s ripping people off never again

Waited 20 minutes for my meal. The sausage was inedible and the bread roll tasted like polystyrene. Chips slightly undercooked. Dreadful experience. and the bread roll tasted of polystyrene and the bread roll

Crisp hot and very tasty. A great variety on menu, so will be going back for more visits. And of course a great location in historic Rochester, so sitting in the castle grounds or other beautiful locations adds something extra to a meal from Gordon Chippy.

Avoid if you do not want food poisoning. Bought cod and chips (lunchtime). The cod tasted bland and did not taste of cod at all. Within half an hour of eating this meal I started feeling sick/nauseous. By the end of the day experiencing full on symptoms of food poisoning. Only other thing eaten on this day was a bowl of cereal for breakfast, so unlikely to have been anything else I had eaten.

Food is always scrumptious! Fish cooked perfectly and lovely crispy batter!

Chips were burnt. Totally burnt. When I called and mentioned it I was told they were using a new kind of potato. Wasn’t convinced as chips tasted burnt as well.

Very disappointed with the food quality tonight.the fish was so greasy I had to take the batter off and the chips wasn’t much better.the grease had soaked through the paper and covered the box.it’s now in the bin.shame as previous orders I’ve had have been great,I won’t chance it again.

Ordered a large cod, received an extremely small cod for the price of £8, it was also served soggy. Ordered small chips, received about 4 chips. When you can count the chips, it’s not really chips. As a first time customer very disappointment. The only ‘trendy’ thing, was the bag it was served in, I do feel ripped off and will not be ordering again here.
