Gordano Gate Brewers Fayre in North Somerset

A beautiful building. Staff were friendly enough but didn't think the food was up to much.

For a new build, it has a lot of character, more so than some older locations. We've eaten many times and never had bad food. On our most visit at 1040 on a Monday (25 november), we were informed that breakfast finishes at 1030 while lunch won't start until 12 noon. However, the guy on bar cleaning that morning could not have been more friendly and helpful. Give that man a pat on the back.

Staff were friendly, service was slow and food was basic and average. We had fish and chips, which was OK, but felt like it had been sitting for a while. Wife had smothered chicken... Again average... Not bad, not good. Kids had pigs in blankets and chicken nuggs... Again band average. Plus they had two desserts 'pancakes' plural and bannans with choc... It was OK, but only came with one cut up pancake, not more. With two beers and kids drinks it cost £53...ouch. Not good value for money with a pip organic costing 2.50! If Whetherspoons is open, go there instead! Better quality (most of the time) and definitely cheaper even with the recent price rises.

Came here for breakfast last Satursday. We had a great time. It started nice and quiet at 8.30am. However, after 9.30am, people started to flux in, so long queues for everything. I am not sure about the fried eggs, as they are served on the counter inside a tray of oil, deep enough to cover the whole eggs. I think it is very unique in this Brewer Fayre, but in a rather unpleasant way.

Stayed at the hotel for one night Dined for the breakfast Food was as expected Service was AWFUL Staff were rude to us and lots of other guests. Restaurant wasn't busy but you'd have thought they were queueing out of the door Shame as the staff in the hitel couldn't have been more helpful. Would eat out next time

Food was not very hot, but the childs meal was really scolding. Toilets not very clean, not the best brewers fayre we've been too.

The food was good. The staff were friendly and helpful. Everything we ordered from the menu, both food and drink, was available.

Food really good and competivly priced also great for children with activities

Food was good, if the portions were a little small. Service was good. I think we were the only customers in at around 1pm on a Saturday, killing time before an appointment. As a visitor to the area, it was easy to find and parking was fine.

Nice restaurant this morning for breakfast. Warm welcome. Food, hot, and plentiful. Great coffee. Well worth the meal deal.

Premier Inn ….Gordano Gate…Portishead… great value provides excellent food..the staff are excellent.and welcoming…Sunday carvery ..freshly carved Turkey breast…is great value as are their deserts. Particularly their Knickerbocker glory (especially who makes it) and others!

Nice food at a good price and drinks as well

Being part of the premier inn would expect the bar to be open until at least 23.00. But arrived at 20.50 to be told last orders as shutting at 21.00 website said closes at 22.30 told they have not updated the website yet. So if you want a couple of beers before you go to bed you wont be getting it here.

First time visit to this Brewers Fayre.It was nice.Food was good and friendly staff.

Had not been here for a long time and I won't be back. It was a very quiet lunch time with few customers yet tables remained uncleared, the outside area was strewn with rubbish, there were cigarette butts in the entrance and in flower pots. A number of items - vegetarian lasagne and fish were unavailable. The meal I ordered had items missing and it was cold. They took it back to the kitchen but it was returned luke warm. The peas were hard cold and tasteless, the jacket potato had clearly been cooked much earlier and reheated. Other customers arrived to eat but were informed tge chef would not return until 4pm whereas the menu said food available until 5pm. All in all a very disappointing visit . No wonder the pub was virtually empty.

Had a amazing birthday breakfast 19th July. Lots of hot food ,fresh fruit and pasties. Good quality bread white and brown. Choice of fresh juice. Good coffee and tea and all this with a very friendly helpful team. Gwen was outstanding (what a gem) kept the hot food well stocked up and made us feel very welcome. The team on the day (breakfast) gave a really good service. All cooked to perfection. 🥰🤗

If you want a decent bit of grub and good low prices I would highly recommended this place, me & my wife had visited Portishead on Thursday. On the evening the restaurant had an excellent deal on steaks. I had a smothered platter & my wife had a rump which was cooked to perfection!!!! I was surprised how much cheaper it is compared to our local pubs for a pint, so definitely worth the trip! At the bar I was served by a lovely gentlemen, the atmosphere is what you would expect from a Brewers Fayre nothing to fancy but no faults. We got speaking to a young lady who I imagined was the manager, we asked her about local walks and events on this weekend. She admittedly explained she wasn’t from the area but was sure to help us, Not long came back and was told maybe the marina would be a nice walk/visit. On Friday evening we came back into Brewers Fayre for a drink before going back to our room & we bumped into her again, she immediately asked how our trip was and felt pleased to see us. This was such a nice thing to come across, most restaurants or pubs now are not how they used to be. I didn’t catch her name which is a shame but hopefully she will see this! The staff are very friendly, good service, they need to update the menu, it was very limited, not like it used to be , its a shame that the one at Filton concord, isn't still around, hardly any food

Our visits here have been pretty much a standard Brewers Fayre experience with no issues to mention. The food is good value when used in conjunction with the loyalty card promotional discounts and day time meal deals, but perhaps not the best value for money around if paying the stand alone main menu prices. With seasonal variations there is always something to please everyone from the menu and always enjoy looking forward to the dessert ice cream sundaes. The interior is huge with a variety of seating areas, tasteful decor and a family friendly area set away to the rear end of the pub, also a small outdoor seating area to the rear. Huge free car park shared with the adjoining Premier Inn and overall all is good here with our experiences nothing exceptional and equally nothing bad either.

Came in today and was served by Craig he was so attentive and friendly. Play area was amazing. Mark and Charlotte are also amazing can’t fault this brewers fayre for adults and kids. From Chelsea and Jodie :)

Came here to have a meal, and let my daughter play in the soft play area while we watched the football. Website showed no indication that the play area was closed, only an old paper notice on the door probably been shut for a while. Not impressed.

Had a family meal here yesterday. Greated by a lovely duty manager. Service was fantastic and friendly. Food presented lovely and tasted really good. Excellent value for money! Really enjoyed and will be back very soon. Thank you 😊

The x2 meals value is absolutely awfull chicken was watery and meal just consisted of chicken in a weird cheese hard chips and over cooked garlic bread : I would definitely advise people not to eat here, not value for money .

Tried to order food.... 1st choice. Didnt have.... 2nd choice didnt have. 3rd choice... you guessed it didnt have. Bar staff to busy to serve when then could be spending time chatting to friends instead. When you do manage to peel them away they let you know its an inconvenience that you would like to be served. The place has really gome down hill now

Sorry guys can't give you 5 stars across the board. Stayed at the premier inn next and came over for dinner. Our table was not clean, it was sticky where it had been wiped, and there was old food still on the edges. The floor was strewn with odd pieces of food. I wasn't able to set up a tab at the bar, which cost me a few quid as I had an 8% cashback offer from my bank so I only got that on my drinks order. There was also an offer of 50% bonus if you signed up for the loyalty card, but this required a card from the bar with a code on it, but there wasn't any cards, so you weren't doing well at all The ladies toilet was filthy and in the Gents the had drier is about 18 inches from the urinal? Odd On the upside the food was good, and served promptly. In a nutshell your customer service is not good, and your only running at 50% of potential.

Nice breakfast at a good price. Good selection of food. Staff were polite and helpful. They kept the buffet topped up with fresh food.

Two dinners were ok but wife's curry was not good

We stay at the premier inn next door quiet often and then come in for food and drinks. We had food both nights which was all nice and hot. The staff was awesome. A young lad on the bar who was always smiling, chatty and recognised us from when we last stayed. Didn’t catch him name but really made an effort with all of us. Also a young girl with blue in her hair who was also lovely to us. Will definitely pop in when we are next down. ;)

Went in March for Auntie's and brother-in- law's birthday with my partner and mother-in-law also. Had the katsu curry and apple crumble and custard, with a cocktail. Really enjoyed it and it's very reasonably priced.

Wanted a roast dinner, we was within a hour and 15 minutes of the suggested food time and they sold out, I'd understand if I was within the last 15 to 20 minutes but over a hour is a piss take, needless to say we went elsewhere

After I saw 3.5 star rating, I gave the benefit of the doubt to this pub. Big mistake for me. It has 3.5 for a reason. Dirty tables, no cutlery, blank food, tasteless, no salt & pepper, everyone is sooo loud, burping inside the restaurant. First and last:(

Well have to say today I had been invited to friends party with my grandson table booked for 12.30 on arrival was told there was limited menu as gas man was there no chips burgers... not much at all in fairness so I had carvery very disappointed not the best bought my grandson chicken nuggets or so I thought but when they arrived looked more like popping chicken mash as no chips also chose sweetcorn well he is 7 it looked more like a 3 year old not much at all very very disappointed customer

Went here for the first time with a couple of friends. Waiting staff friendly, good great. Arrived hot and well presented. Very clean.

Food was shocking even for a brewers fayre. The girl behind the bar was busy talking to her mate who had popped in for a chat while I stood there for ten minutes waiting to be served then when she decided it was time to do her job they both made it clear how much of an inconvenience it was having to take my order .my food came out looking like it had been fired out of a shotgun so I politely to the boy who served me I didn't want it and could I please just have a refund for that particular item of failed modern art and he was rude .

Didn't eat there put had some cocktails before we went out. Staff were friendly and cocktails were great at 2 for £10

Had a fab time, little man had so much fun in the play area and we could have some quiet time with delicious food. The staff were lovely, especially the lady who took our order at the bar (lunchtime Saturday) wish I got her name!! Hope you can figure her out and let her know that she was awesome!

I've been coming here regularly for about 2 months and really enjoy it - it's such a good place for cheap quality food (especially with the different daily evening deals on each of the days). It can be a little busy during the Sunday roast times - worth reserving a table.. but all other times it has not been too busy. All the staff are great and friendly and most recently served by Ellie and Luke who made sure to get the order right (no allergies, any sauces etc) and brought the food out quickly and checked it was everything I wanted. I can't fault the service here, it's my new favourite local and I don't even live that near to it. Well worth a visit.

Went for a valentine’s meal tonight. Bad service, the table was dirty and there were delays with the food orders and then the wrong food came out. The steak was fatty and the churros were rock hard. I would definitely not recommend.

We love this place, most weeks we come here for a carvery with the children, it is a very busy place and the staff are brilliant, But on this time and the the last couple of visits we came we had to walk through a plume of weed smoke, and about 8 young people there smoking it, with our grandchildren, I was not happy so I complained to one of the staff at the till, the young man was so sorry, and he reported to his manager, he come over and he said that that he would monitor it, I don't know if he was a manager he didn't have a badge on. Then to top this day off, we ordered our food and qued 20minutes to get it and then when we were served, get our veg there wasn't any and no gravy meaning our food hot cold whilst waiting. Then when we asked for a box to take our cold food home for the girls, we were Informed that's not possible even after we explained why. We didn't even get an apology, for once I have to say discussing service and I don't think we will be returning.

Went In for lunch and the service wasn't very good. As staying in hotel had booked breakfast it was a disaster as not enough staff and food was over cooked and stone cold.

The staff were great and very welcoming. The food was ok, exactly what you expect from a brewers fayre. The thing that lets it down is how run down everything is. We went to take our daughter to the soft play area but didn’t want to let her in when we saw how dirty the floor was in the toddler section

staff happy polite very helpful children are made to fill very welcome. staff are even happy to clean up childrens drinks when spilt even talking to the babies whilst their cleaning up. Thankyou to all staff.

Popped in for a chance of something to eat no with no reservation. Staff was friendly and polite and was happy to find me a space. I found the restaurant very friendly and a relaxed atmosphere. Will Visit again.

Visited last week, great service food was yummy I recommend the loaded cheese burger chips!

Visited tonight very friendly family atmosphere and clean and tidy restaurant staff was all very pleasant and helpful with any requests we had. Will recommend to family and friends and will visit again.

Food was lovely just a shame about the wait times for food. Especially puddings being 45-50 minutes just for ice cream and cheesecake not only that getting orders wrong and having to ask 3 times to rectify it. And because we already paid for the food no compensation for the hassle caused. We will not be returning.

We were there at 17-30 very quiet. Not harrased in any way, very comfortable, we enjoyed our food. Someone took our order. & someone delivered it. But said nothing except any sauces

Worst portions sizes Ive ever seen in a brewers fayre. I had the veggie sausage and mash and there were practically 10 pears in the bowl. Such a small portion I could see the bottom of the bowl on serving. I was hungry afterwards. Wouldn't recommend.

Lovely meals, service was a little slow but free refill on soft and hot drinks helped the wait.

Most disgusting while I was eating a most enjoyable meal, only to find a little boy rolling around the carpet in front of staff and mother with KNIFE AND A FORK DIGGING IN CARPET. Come on this isn’t on menus the worst end of story was nobody corrected him. Sorry never ever had issues from what I come in for, but that takes the biscuit.

You are lucky if anyone notices you have arrived. Pointless booking as you end up just finding yourself a seat after standing about for ages. Food is ok.

We ordered before 6pm so had 2 main meals for £12. Curry and lasagne. Both were delicious and there was plenty to eat. The staff were all very pleasant and service was great. The main menu prices were reasonable as well and there was a lot to choose from.

Nice pub and was glad they could fit us (a party of 10) in at short notice in the kids play area but everything including the tables and all the menus were sticky. Even the ones from outside the kids area. The toliets were unfortunately were disgusting, paper everywhere, broken seat and only 1 toliet in the ladies available, the other had a broken lock. My partner said the men's were the same. The food was good, good value on the kids meals and pudding too.

Unfortunately not the best experience here. Wasn't impressed with the tea/coffee station. Gave a greasy cafe feel to it. Shame as the place overall wasn't too bad. Can't say I enjoyed the food let's just say it was just about edible this visit we ended up waiting to be seated as instructed to do... as it was quiet didn't need to have waited

Visited this pub for the first time, very good experience! Food was lovely and service 10/10. Couldn’t fault it.

Stopped in for a breakfast on the way to Bristol airport. Distinctly average and not the best I've had at a chain which also services the adjacent Premier Inn.

Had a short meeting with colleagues here and we’re going to stay for lunch but during our meeting we were surrounded by contractors all sitting at different tables and talking loudly over us to each other. Really poor. We used to put colleagues up here on a regular basis but it’s really gone downhill. Dirty lack of any enthusiasm amongst the staff and allowing the contractors to have free run is out of order

Had to take my other half to McDonalds as he was still hungry afterwards! Long waiting time despite not being busy, overpriced for what my other half called a "children's meal"!

We visited this Brewers Fayre as we wanted a soft play to occupy the 2 year old whilst we ate. The server was very friendly and really kind. The baby made a bit of a mess and I offered to clean it up but the server was having none of it. Food was okay, they need to learn how to cook steak though. Soft play is £3.50 with no time limit, or £4 with a hot drink. Babies are free. Soft play is a good size - a toddler and an older section - no ball pit. Will definitely visit again during soft play hours.

Good soft play area the kids enjoyed it. Unfortunately there was not enough staff to clear the tables (mess everywhere)or serve at the bar. The staff there run off their feet. But managed to give a smile. I also noticed the cleanliness of the carpet and flooring was very grubby and sticky. It was last time I visited. Such ashame as it's a popular place right next door to a Premier Inn.

Food is not great and over priced . Tables are sticky every time I go which I have to do for work . Far better to take a walk to the harbour for alternative establishments.
