be very careful if you look underage!! Security asked for ID, was showed Genuine driving licence, but was told that she could tell that was fake as **** and kept it!! Tried to call the venue, but getting no answer. Visiting police station later to see if the so called fake driving licence was handed in as they should have done!!

Called into the bank for a quick bite to eat,was told no chicken goujons for the chicken sub,also no onion rings either,sub came out,roll was very dry and stale,with which looked like tiny pieces of wafer thin sandwich meat,about 12 chips too.what i dont understand is a saturday is probly one of the busiest times,but they havnt got stuff on the menu.i had the burger with bacon,that also wasnt very warm,also with a handfull of chips.the meal was £30 with 2 drinks.ive had better meals for half this price.i will defo not be having another meal in the old bank again.

My god staff was not happy as if I was interrupting there day The toilets in gents not clean but luckly hand soap not on wall bur only one hand dryers worked 🙄 Food was ok for lunch time but when having scampi expected tartar sauce but had to ask for it but when delivered to table was slammed down as if we had interupted them No not good experience

Who on earth runs this place? I cannot understand for the life of me why this pub is the only one in Grantham who insists on serving drinks in plastic glasses. There is a good atmosphere in this pub on a Saturday night but we won't be visiting again until they lose the plastic glasses.

Food was good value and very tasty. Nice atmosphere and the service was nice and quick. Would come again

Christmas end of term lunch. Fish and chips upgraded to cod and a more expensive drink. Fish was tiny and dry with the majority being batter. Mushy peas were dry and congealed. Chips were ok. A terrible lunch. I gave feedback to the waitress and she just laughed. My friend, also a David, who also had the cod, was less complimentary.

Was served by Donna today and she was supper nice and friendly. Recommended a new drink and it was delicious

I arrived here with friends at 5pm, when there was only two other customers. We wanted pre-dinner drinks. There was ten of us from the same work bubble and we were shouted at to stop as we walked in. We understand we are not permitted to sit together and asked for two tables near each other (not next to). We were told by the supervisor that she was only prepared to seat us at "opposite ends of the venue." Really?? She was abrupt and unaccommodating, so we left and took our business across the road. I wonder if the same rules applied the night before when England were playing Germany in packed pubs...

Basic pub food and drink served without a smile! It is however surprisingly popular! Maybe because it is inexpensive. I'd sooner go to the local Spoons!

Food was really good and was just right. The service on the other hand was awful the only girl on the bar came slammed the food on the table then followed to storm after didn’t ask if we needed anything else and said nothing. Shocking service. I won’t be returning.

Took a while to get served on a Saturday lunch time from the large bar that occupies the main centre of the pub, good choice of alcohol and plenty room to sit and relax, well worth a pint.

Came in for some food, looking for a table of 4. They were only offering a limited menu but still a good amount to choose from. All the basic pub food, burgers, chicken, lasagne etc.The food was mediocre. The burger was pretty undercooked AND soooo average! One of the orders came without the additional fries that were ordered. This was a bit annoying to be honest.Food was quick to come out and "filled a gap" everyone from our group were satisfied with the meal as a whole. Probably wouldn't come again in a hurry, but it was convenient and quick, clean plates all round.

The menu looks extensive but it's just the same items packaged in various ways. Nothing is bad. You get good sized portions for the price and the kitchen has a pretty quick turnaround - good if you're on a lunch break. There little to get excited about, though, it's basically a 'Spoons clone. Service has vastly improved now that the huffing and puffing lethargic hefalumps behind the bar have gone.

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon when passing through, had a drink and watched the football. The pub is ideal for this, didn't order any food as the food we saw coming out didn't look very appealing, majority looked over cooked.

I actually thought this was a part of a chain at first, but it is a free house. It is large, but well kept. We just stopped for a morning pot of tea. My only gripe was the loud inane music which you couldn’t escape.

The menu is extensive but in that the food is pretty good. And, a nice kids menu. The service is a little slow but they were busy to be fair. The staff are very good and well trained and quick to get a bit of banter with their customers. I like that nice atmosphere. Good value.

I went in there with 2 of my friends for dinner and a drink. There was a young lady behind the bar that served us she took my friends order gave him a coke glass with lipstick on it and it was a regular glass when he asked for a pint. Then when I ordered pint of coke and the hunters chicken sort of meal she gave me the same regular coke so I asked for the pint I paid for she tutted. Also when we got the food my friend ordered the sausage and mash she had the smallest amount of mash the bowl was full of gravy and peas. And the hunters chicken around the out side of the chicken on my meal was hard and I struggled to cut threw it. I come in there a lot for drinks and food. but I don't think we will be eating again

Been using this pub for years until recently both for food and to watch football. Must say the last couple of times I have been in the tables were disgusting, all needed wiping down and some were still full of used plates, which was still the case when I left the pub thirty minutes later. This was despite the pub not being very busy & the staff stood chatting and drinking coffee at the end of the bar. From being an excellent meeting place over the years the place has gone rapidly downhill over the past year, and I would not even consider eating in the place.

Visited twice over a weekend in Grantham, once for lunch and once for a few night time drinks. It's a strange venue, almost without an identity, cosy old mans pub during the day but an absolute rave at night. Food was okay, usual pub food as expected, good deals inc drinks and the service was acceptable. During the night, the place was heaving, very short staffed, absolute mess, felt very sorry for the team who were working as some guests weren't very understanding at their wait at the bar. Team were all very pleasant and were doing their best. Just need a few extra bodies on the bar in the night to ease the pressure on the team

Just popped in for a coffee with a friend intended to eat elsewhere saw someone's fish and chips looked good decided to stay ! £5.99 for fish chips and peas plus a drink ! Food good quick service can't knock it! Bargain!!

Aquí la última noche fuimos buscando un lugar barato, comida rápida antes del cine. Era muy tranquilo y nos quedamos muy sorprendidos. La comida llegó rápidamente y era muy caliente y sabrosa. Era la noche del grill y tuve un pequeño mixed grill y un gran vaso de vino por 10 libras, que era una excelente relación calidad-precio. Sin duda volveré según última comida noches.

Ok, so positives first: Friendly bar staff, table laid nicely for works' Christmas meal, steak cooked nicely. Now the reality:I'd ordered a steak, which was perfectly cooked (I'd ordered it rare) but was served with: tinned carrots drained and plonked on my plate (no glaze), over-boiled brussels sprouts and Aunt Bessie style roast potatoes. I've never been served Brussels sprouts with a steak before! Fake roast potatoes!? The pre order form didn't allow any chips option with my steak nor was one offered on the night. Bog standard gravy was offered, but gravy with steak?! The kitchen seemed to be dumping the same low quality, tasteless sides on all dishes regardless of what meat was ordered. A very very disappointing meal, shame on Goose for turning out such poor quality food. Won't be returning to eat.

I came here for a meal with my boyfriend and ordered the chicken tikka and the fish and chips.My partners fish was cold and the chips were as though they had been fried...allowed to cool down and then warmed up in the microwave.I found a shard of plastic from like a chinease takeaway tub and 2 day dots 1 for Saturday and 1 for Tuesday !I felt physically sick and when I went to the bar with my food the lady laughed and thought this was a joke I paid £20 all together including drinks and she had the audacity to stand there and laugh.... we will be reporting to EHO Absolutely disgusting !!!!The photo I took was what I took home to take it to the doctors should I fall ill !!

Went for a Christmas meal in a group and had the worst meal for a very long time. The quality of just about everything was very poor and completely tasteless. The entire meal was cold even though it wasn't busy.

We called in for lunch , there was only one young lady serving but she was being very patient helping a gentleman with learning difficulties , she apologetic , but I said to her she was very patient with the said person and not to worry. Once we ordered the food wasn't long being brought out and was very nice.

Large bar area appeared clean & tidy. Arrived 2100hrs Thursday. Ordered food, gammon steak egg chips & peas, with A pint £6.00. Food was okay! You get what you pay for.I had just traveled 200 miles. It was good enough at the time!!

So far we have popped in here twice in the lasy 7 days ! Lunch has been nice very quick service and friendly staff. Ideal if you have children as you don't wait long for you meal ...very reasonable priced too. Typical bar meals

I go to the goose a lot and enjoy it mostly, but I have just queued for ages at an empty bar, every time a new customer came they were served ahead of me, and when I asked if I could be served I was given an unpleasant reply. She had an attitude problem and blamed it on the 'extremely busy bar', but the most there were at once was three people. As much as I like the goose, this kind of customer service is unacceptable, she could have apologised but she needs an attitude check. Furthermore, when my friend went to order a Guinness his pint wasn't filled to the top and he had to ask for it to be topped up fully. This piss poor service was from the same incompetent woman.

Every tuesday my friends and I went for brunch at the goose. The food wasnt great but we liked the atmosphere and the price was good. However yesterday, we were asked for id to order food, bearing in mind I am 17, and wasnt ordering any alcohol. I appreciated the request and went back to my seat and when we were discussing where else we could go the manager came over and kicked us out. We have never caused a disturbance and generally wanted something to eat.

My friend and I Went to the goose for hot drinks and a snack. The service was very poor. No smiles, no thankyou's. The staff seriously need to be taught customer skills. I will not be returning to the goose, and I will not recommend this place to family or friends.

Visited last night with a group of friends, overall the pub is good with cheapie have drinks and although we didn't eat the food looked plentiful. However, I must complain about the female duty manager who thinks it's perfectly alright to take your credit card and make a contactless payment without even asking you or allow you to actually swipe your card. When I asked her she said it was normal practice but when I asked other members of the staff, they thought it was wrong and the customer should do it.What made the whole thing worse was the duty manager attitude and miserable face, might have been talking to a piece of wood. Come on the goose, I know you can do better. I would love to hear from the moanager.

I found this place loud with sports blaring on the TV so not a relaxing eating venue but a lively cheap and cheerful place to eat, average food, good menu choice of microwaveable type meals, average service, average decor, food was ok but nothing to write home about, just typical pub grub.

Nice big pub with quite large selection of food. service is sometimes slow and bar gets busy at times and ordering drinks can be a pain. Food is simple and basic but always tasty and portions are generous.

Me and wife had sandwich deal two of them one chips and one onion rings two teas came to £13.00 excellent value only little snag was I wish it came a little hotter will be coming again

This is one of the best pubs in Grantham for food everything is well cooked. especially the steaks which are tender and full of flavor, a very relaxed atmosphere they also do mean chicken wings at a very good price and if there is any sport being shown you can get the 50 wings and a four pint jug for £15 which is good value for money. With an ATM also in the premises you wont run out of money and your not charged for using it. Always go here for a quick lunch and a pint.

Have been here 3 times in the last 6 months for breakfast with my teenage children. They are super fussy but they finished their plates every time. Will definitely come here again.I would have given 5* but the bar service was slow and there was a member of staff just stood at the end of the bar who could have taken orders but just wanted to boss the other staff around.

It was a joy to sit in a lovely place and have a drink plenty of room to sit down and it was very clean

Our visit recently at the goose at the bank was rather unpleasant, after becoming regular customers usually buying lunch there we were refused service for being under the age of 18 even though we have previously dined here on many occasions. Therefore I am very upset with the lack of management and moreover we shall not be eating at this pub again.The attitude of the manager and staff was very uncanny and rude showing lack of respect for paying customers.

Had Sunday lunch here the other day, chewy beef, lumpy instant potato, veg that looked like it had been re-used and gravy only just warm. No one came to check if our meals were ok or even question when clearing that I had hardly touched it. Very disappointed even for the price would have expected something edible.

Yes the food is cheap and you will get exactly what you pay for as the quality is terrible. I had their ham eggs and chips, the eggs were ok but one was hard and the other not quite cooked. How you do that is beyond me as I would expect them both to be cooked at the same time. The chs were the mass produced frozen type with no taste. As for the ham I have never seen ham sliced for thinly. In fact if you could have held it up to the light you would have been able to see through it however it would be impossible to hold ot up as it just fell apart like soggy cardboard and thats exactly what it tasted like. Apart from one egg the rest was horrible and tasteless.Service was very slow and nobody bothered to come round to ask if everything was alright and I can understand why. As we were in a hurry I didn't go to the bar and complain so just left a note on top of the hardly touched meal.My advice to anyone thinking of going there for a meal is don't.

I have visited the Goose for years due to a fairly good atmosphere and its cheap offers. It is no surprise that when i arrived the staff were once again miserable as sin and talked to me and my family and friends like rubbish. What was so appalling is that I had two friends stay with me from another town and were visiting me and my family after a long time of not seeing them. We decided to come to the goose for a bite to eat yesterday (sunday) and were disgusted by not only the staff, the service, the atmosphere but also the food. I ordered the half roast chicken meal as did my friend and of course we were not expecting a 'home style' massively portioned sunday roast but what we were expecting was chicken that wasn't grey and limp and smelt like it has been sat on the plate for about three hours. I was mortified and embarrassed that i had brought my friend here. I decided to complain because i was appalled and the waitress that served me was inexcusably rude. She told me that the chef 'was in a bad mood' so that the cooking wouldnt be up to standard as it normally would and she almost began to snigger and didnt even act slightly concerned. At this point I couldnt believe how unprofessional she was being. Normally i do not ask for a refund, but at this point I did because I was so frustrated at how little she cared that i had wasted my time by visiting. This is the last straw I have for the goose at the bank, I have dealt with the rude customers for years but this tipped me over the edge and i refuse to step foot back in the place. I will tell my family or friends that if they wish to invite me here I will blankly say no. This pub has SUCH a good foundation for being a great place - all they need is a better chef who isnt 'in a bad mood' and bar staff that are not utterly rude.

Had lunch here with 2 friends on Monday ...It has so gone down hill quality wise .....my friend was given the complete wrong meal and without any apologies the waiter made her feel like it was her fault ....I ordered the bbq pulled pork roll and when it arrived it looked a mess . The bread was covered in bbq sauce and nothing else . I couldn't even hold it without getting covered in sauce ....disgusting meal.....and expensive for what it was ...will not be returning any time soon .

Bellissimo locale, in pieno centro. Si mangia benissimo , si beve ottima birra, si sta al caldo e la gente è tranquilla. Possibilità di vedere anche partite via satellite e fare il tifo con i personaggi del posto! Si paga poco per ottimi menù e panini..da provare!

We have been several times and know what we are getting, the food is excellent for the price and arrives quickly. The only let down is the staff, although the try they are very poorly managed and over worked. I would recommend for anything other than a cheep meal, but the food is very good

Lively atmosphere with friendly service. Burger meal wasn't anything special but chicken skewers were very tasty and puddings were very good value on buy one get one free deal.

Being pensioners we thought we would try the 2 for £7.95. My wife ordered the B.B.Q. chicken and I had the curry pie. the chicken was raw in my wifes meal and on complaining we were told that they bought the meals in from a supplier, although they do claim to serve "home cooked food". Does that give them an excuse for not cooking properly. The curry pie was edible but the peas were like bullets and the curry sauce was like sludge. We will certainly never frequent this establishment again.

i ordered water then asked for coffee to be told no i was to slurred, it was saturday afternoon after asking for the manager Emma came and we were not served, was it becouse i had comlpined before and got a meal after ordering champagne and paying for it only to be asked for another £5 or get money back when we had just sat down and started drinking.She sertainly could do with learning some people skills, as where I work if any students come back intoxicated from drinking in the goose I will be making a complaint to the council and police for them serving students to much drink, and today I got told from another customer that she was on the phone speaking to her mum while serving him a pint.I was very verble as I left so much for my husband having a coffee on his fiftyth birthday I got my glass of water.Cheers....jc

well walking into the place it looked nice, clean tidy busy. went up to the bar and that's where the downfall started there was 1 member of staff on at 8pm at night waited at least 20 mins to be served, the member of staff was rude and not paying attention at all. we ordered our drinks and food, sat there for around another 30 mins until the food came, the food was okay, but not great not worth the money or the wait,I would not recommened this place

The curry chicken pie with curry gravy was quite good, chip sand peas too were ok.While innovative, the Yorkshire pudding wrap with beef wasn't a good choice. The pudding was leathery and the beef seemed boiled or microwaved. Chips and and peas were OK.So alright, it was cheap and we keep promising ourselves we won't have these cheap twofers because often they disappoint.

Having gone into the establishment with my father in law whom does not see his granddaughter more than 3 times a year and having to go back home on his train shortly after i thought having a drink before he went was a good idea, however upon ordering drinks and asking what drinks they had for children i was then rudely told that if i was not paying to eat 4 meals in my party then i would be refused service. I then confronted the barman with the fact that there was no notices to suggest this he rudely replied " well that's why i am here telling you",if they do not want children they should not advertise being a family orientated establishment. What is the difference between ordering three adult drinks and a child drink instead of four drinks, absolutely disgusted and would not recommend to anyone as i have never had this problem elsewhere!!!!!!

Had a very good time in The Goose over a Friday and Saturday.Cheap beer,good standard pub grub and lots of screens to watch sport.

Went in with a friend to meet some other friends and was immediately made to feel welcome by the lady behind the bar. I only stopped long enough to have a couple of drinks but the atmosphere in this place is fantastic. Its a very "Young person" orientated pub but none the less older people are more than welcome. Its also fairly quiet most days in there so you can sit down and enjoy your meals. There are plenty of tables, all of which are clean and ready to receive new customers. This place has to be one of the best pubs I have been to in a long time! While I was in there I took a quick look at the menu and from what I could see it was good value. I managed to spot the portion sizes by someone else ordering in there and I could see it was quite a hefty portion. I hope to stop in sometime and taste the menu!

The food was wonderful and the drinks were too cheap for our own good (2 pitchers for the price of one). We loved the fish and chips, and the servings were perfect (plenty of fish on the plate). It got a little busy around supper time but the service never lagged.

If you haven't either a lot of time on your hands or the money does'nt extend to a nice Italian or Nepalese in the same town then look no further than the Goose. Quick friendly service and the food is good value for money. As a couple we had 2 main courses 2 sweets and a bottle of wine for just over £20 and we both felt satisfied with our meals. If you are not concerned about sophistication or presentation values just basic food at a good price then give it a try.On the downside the Pub can get very crowded and noisy as it is very popular with local drinkers due to continuous sport being shown on the large screens. In our opinion its a notch up from the Weatherspoons just down the road and is good for families but not ideal for romantic couples or someone seeking peace and quiet.

If you are after a decent priced drink and meal in the town centre then look no further.mthe food is good and with prices as low as a fiver for a meal and a drink I don't know how or why anyone would complain. In fact 7 of us ate there last weekend for a total cost of £44! The place itself is not unwelcoming and the ambience is just right even thou there is football on every screen (which I don't mind one bit!). Adults and children made welcome on our visits and I look forward to eating and drinking there more often. Keep up the good work!

When i meet my daughter we usually come here for a natter, drink and something to eat. My daughter had a main meal, but i had a jacket potato with filling and two ciders.I found the service fairly quick and the food nice, what you would expect in a popular pub. The price was exceptable, and ample portions on both.Nice clean staff, clean toilets and tables.I have nothing to complain about and would certainly go again.

A nice enough looking pub with a selection of reasonably priced drinks. The microwaved food is not the best and if you're looking for value priced food then weatherspoons wins hands down. had steak emma reserved a table for us,,if something not right the staff do there best to sort it. Its the best in town for breakfast,,and monday madness is great, not worth cooking,, offers are good, need to check boards, were else coulld you get a meal for 2.99, and it was not microwaved,, i think they all work really hard to serve everyone as quick as they can ,,

We visited the Goose about 2 days ago, at about 4.30 in the afternoon. It wasn't very busy, but we had to wait for about 10 minutes for the girl behind the bar to finish discussing life with a young lad (take it to be her boyfriend) She was still chatting, and ignoring us, when another girl took our order.We then decided to eat there, as neither of us could be bothered to cook. The order was taken promptly, & the meals arrived fairly quickly. Both of us had gammon steaks, & they were large & cooked to perfection. Just a shame that our first impression of the Goose was so negative.

Come in with my disabled daughter for a quick drink and order her some lunch and they refused me and said the whole family has to eat, its absolutely discusting

Ok,as a local to Grantham,me and my family have been eagerly awaiting the reopening of the goose.sp to cut a long story short,everything's great,apart from the food.o.m.g very below average pub grub,waited ages and the pub wasn't even busy. Chips undercooked meat overcooked,paid extra for a sauce,a dribble of hot kebab sauce in a tiny pot which was meant to be piri piri.the goose needs to make its mind up wether it's a food pub or a drinking pub,u can get both at the weather spoons down the road.

Even though the pub didn't seem very busy we were left for what felt like an age at the bar before we even got a drink. This was the same when we went back for a second drink and the food wasn't exactly speedy either. The food was OK though, nothing wrong with the standard burger and salad so no complaints there.

The Goose has just been closed for 10 days due to a mammoth re-refurbishment. Thankfully it opened with a VIP Reception, although quite a large establishment it still feels like the 'Local' pub. The new decorations are grand from the bouncy carpet to the upholstered chairs and booths. New lighting, new wooden shuffle floor all combined with a great atmosphere.The staff are friendly too and always go that extra mile. The food isn't too bad, you pay what you get for - I really enjoy the combo share platter.More than anything there is a great selection of drinks at very responsible prices ....Yes would recommend to anyone looking for a great day / evening out whether living in or visiting Grantham.
