Gooey Co. in Manchester

He querido llegar aquí por siglos y después de una noche muy tarde, su increíble cubo de tostadas francesas me fijó totalmente. Es inmenso, ridículamente dulce y exactamente lo que se necesitaba. Tengo algunas rosquillas y una galleta para llevar a casa también y les cayó bien a mi familia. El personal era encantador y servicial también. Definitivamente volveré la próxima vez en Manchester (necesito uno de los sándwiches de huevo la próxima vez! )

Fui a comer con mis amigos antes del partido de los equipos locales. Estábamos preocupados de que hubiera una cola afuera y éramos un grupo grande. Pero esperamos unos 20 minutos y conseguimos una mesa. La comida era muy agradable opciones saladas y la tostada francesa era fenomenal. Súper dulce pero para morirse, tristemente se olvidó de probar sus donuts en la salida, pero solo una razón para estar de vuelta!

No suelo visitar cafeterías o panaderías , pero decidí hacerle una visita al famoso gooey de Manchester y probé su famosa tostada francesa. Debo decir que la porción de la tostada francesa por sí sola vale algo el precio, sin embargo, no pude terminarla porque seguí pensando en la sobrecarga de diabetes aquí . Su bebida caliente no fue nada de wow de nuevo, tal vez porque no soy un café o panadería tipo de persona, simplemente no vi el atractivo. Creo que puedo volver a visitarlo y probar algo más en el menú para ver si es agradable.

Decidí probar este lugar después de algunas críticas favorables de colegas. Inicialmente pensé que era caro, pero después de arropar, noté que las galletas son súper gruesas, es como si estuvieras recibiendo dos galletas por el precio de dos (una galleta gruesa básicamente que podría ser dos galletas). Probablemente no iría de nuevo no debido a la. Costo pero no eran nada especial.

Ya he comido donuts gooey antes, así que quería ir al Café para ver qué se ofrecía. Servicio lento, tenía un ambiente muy extraño que creo que se redujo a la decoración principalmente y no tenía ningún donuts de arándanos y matcha, destripado. Caro también. El personal es amable.

I hated the decor (?), very uncomfortable chairs, noise and requirement to order using the app when there were loads of staff standing about. I did love my mushrooms on toast with black garlic cream which was massive.

Absolutely the best spot for donuts!!!! Absolutely in love with the choccy one 😭 I dream about it every night!!! Excellent service as always xx

Called by after seeing people raving over there Amazing Doughnuts on social media so had to call by and treat ourselves . We got doughnuts and cinnamon buns and ngl they are just the best ever, so fresh and tasty will do be going back next time i am in city centre

Good, a bit expensive for what it is but it's a busy popular spot. I didn't love the vegetarian breakfast options so ended up getting a very strange but tasty sandwich.

Very expensive and sadly, looked better than it tasted. The custard donut seemed to lack vanilla flavour and the drinks were expensive, especially when most of the glass was filled with ice. Unfortunately, we won't be going back.

I visited here as part of a birthday trip to Manchester. Gooey was recommended by a friend and we were keen to visit having seen the hype about it on social media. We arrived and the queue was out of the main door. We waited approx 10-15 minutes before we were seated at a table, which we were okay with. The staff came over and took our order, they were not particularly attentive and did not look all too happy to be there. We ordered the French toast, a coffee and an apple juice, which was said to be fresh that day. The food came after about 15 minutes. The French toast certainly looks impressive, and looks to be around half a loaf of bread. Initially it tasted quite good, however after a few bites it becomes very sickly, very quickly, to the point where I could not force myself to eat any more, and it made me feel quite sick. I would strongly question whether the apple juice was fresh that day, having seen a member of staff pouring it out a carton that appeared shop bought. It was served in a very small glass with a lot of ice, meaning out get very little drink. We ordered two doughnuts to take away which were okay, however nothing special and certainly not worth the price point charged, you could probably get something that tastes better at a local supermarket. Overall we were quite disappointed with our visit, having seen some good reviews it was a shame that it did not live up to these.

Gooey did not disappoint. We ordered… Egg Sandwich - 👌🏼 Ruben - 👌🏼 French Onion Dip Baguette - 👌🏼😍👌🏼 French Toast - OMG !! ❤️❤️❤️ And proper Yorkshire Tea 🤩 Staff are very friendly, even offering umbrellas for our short wait (15mins) outside.

Great food. The French toast is an absolute must! I’ve seen previous reviews saying the service is bad but I didn’t experience that. I also didn’t mind leaving a tip at the start as I would like to think it goes towards kitchen staff too preparing the food. 10/10 from me!

The French toast is to die for. Visually pleasing to the eye. The quality is brilliant too. I wouldn't eat it if I was on a diet however. As I can imagine it being full of calories. I wish they did a chicken sandwich for lunch.

Went in for a quick coffee and donuts.. ordered.. and waited.. and waited .. and waited. After twenty minutes we went up to the counter and asked to take them away. There were eight staff behind the counter but none of them seemed very interested in serving any customers.. they were too busy having a chat.. the one person waiting was bringing coffee and cakes out one at a time.. working here seems to be some kind of 'lifestyle choice' and nothing to do with actual work. When we got the coffee and donuts they were great.. shame about the sh1t service.

We tried the French toast, and we can confirm that it is amazing! However, we also ordered a side of hash browns and I ordered the avocado on toast with an egg, and in all honesty, I’ve never have such bland avocado on toast before (it looked beautiful, and you get a nice amount of avocado) and the hash browns were really odd, so it was disappointing. We will be back, but for the French toast and make a pastry. The coffee was also mid.

Very nice eatery for mainly coffee and cakes but best known for its French Toast.We had 3 of the French Toast and a chocolate cookie plus hot and cold drinks between the 6 of us plus we took away 2 Donuts and 2 Cookies.The only downside is realistically you have to queue to get a seat,great when you have all day but not so good if your in a hurry as we waited 20 minutes plus.It was good however but a little pricy for some people.

Great cookies, terrible customer service. Says on their contact page they’ll reply within 48-hours, I’ve been waiting a month and still nothing. Also no response on insta. Staff member at Ducie Street Warehouse was not able to advise if the cookies could be frozen, pretty basic question I ordered a box for my boyfriend’s birthday & ordered it for the wrong date, entirely my own fault so reached out on the off-chance they could delay, I have still had no response to even say they couldn’t Really disappointed, they’re all over insta but can’t reply to emails or messages

I’ve been coming to Gooey regularly and have tried out all their sandwiches. They’re all great but I’d recommend the Reuben, or the Tofu sandwich if you’re vegetarian. There is usually a queue, but it moves quite fast in my experience. The deserts are what most people come for, the French toast is amazing! Staff are always nice too.

The sweet treats (donut variations in particular) are next-level at this place. I discovered this place during lockdown and it go me through! My recent visit showed me they are still a quality place to go.

Handy tip: if you just want to nip in and get some treats to take away, you don’t have to queue up outside. The tray of treats excited me, and I walked away with a Kinderella Donut…heavenly filling!

Walked here for a bit of dessert after brunching elsewhere to find an extremely long queue for those wanting a table inside. Luckily we wanted to take out our dessert so were able to go to the till and order. I had to order both cookies and donuts for my husband to try when I got home. Absolutely sensational! Excellent quality and I loved how everything was laid out in front of us so you knew exactly what you were getting. They bake everything on site too so no secrets, just gorgeous desserts ! Will definitely return.

We love it in here! It’s welcoming and friendly and the food is sublime! It’s a treat place for us; we love the cookies and the French toast. . But the Rueben sandwich is INCREDIBLE too. The service is always professional and helpful, we literally can’t fault it ! A gem of a place ticking all the boxes.

Went for breakfast yesterday, wanted to go for ages. We had the granola and egg sandwich with coffees, the food was delicious. Staff were nice and service was pretty quick. We even got a cheeky take away cookie box mmm.

Visited Gooey with my husband for a weekend breakfast. Both had the French toast with bacon and it was absolutely delicious 😋 Coffee good and great flavour. Friendly and polite staff. Clean cafe and tables wide enough apart from other customers. We also took 4 doughnuts to go - all were delicious and so yummy. Definitely we will be visiting again.

Discovered this delight whilst visiting Manchester. This was the best bacon and egg sandwhich I’ve had, EVER! Others ordered the French toast, mushrooms on toast and avocado on toast, all really good. The coffee was excellent too ! Staff very friendly and accommodating.

This beautiful French toast (more like loaf 😉) has been on my list for a while now and I can confirm Gooey DELIVERED. The most beautiful French toast, perfectly golden on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and filled with the most delicious Dulce de lece. Although it looks heavy I was pleasantly surprised and inhaled the whole thing! The only thing that would make this PERFECT would be an addition of a salty element (even a sprinkle of sea salt) and served alongside some fresh fruit! Other dishes we ordered: • Birria Dip • Hashbrowns • The Reuben Although the other dishes were nice the French toast was the HIGHLIGHT and a MUST!!

We visited this store to takeaway some sweet treats for breakfast. This is a very busy store so be prepared to queue if you want a seat inside. Amazing pastries. I got a a French roll filled with cream. We also got a red velvet cookie which was huge. Definitely would visit again to sit in to try their French toast.

We were left waiting outside in the rain for quite a while, despite there being empty tables… they were just taking their time getting them cleaned. Once we ordered, they brought half of the order and left the other half just sat on the counter for a while until we asked for it. We got a bacon sandwich, the bacon was extremely fatty, the bread was too thick and the crusts were so tough they were inedible. We ordered French toast which was tasty but far too much butter. Overall, I think this place isn’t worth the hype and the value for money is poor.
