Fast service, easy parking , good menu, eat in restaurant.

Been using Goodies for as long as I've known what fish and chips is. Food has been up and down over the years but still imho the best chips going. Service on the busy days is still pretty quick and the staff all friendly.

I thought I would try goodies again sadly again it was pretty horrible, chips were lukewarm and like the fish had been sitting around for too long. But I was glad to be able to help the young man stranded and needed to get to copythorne

Goodies used to be the best local chippy … sadly no longer true . Chips were awful .. potatoes clearly not ‘eyed’ before being chipped . Practically every chip had black eyes in .. add to that the fact that they were practically cold also meanest portion size I’ve had anywhere .. not that the portion size was an issue as the seagulls ended up with them anyway ! Suggest you change your name to Baddies !

If the girl serving had been wearing a plaque around her neck saying “I don’t want to be here” it still wouldn’t have been more obvious she didn’t want to be there Instinct told me to walk out as soon as I walked in and saw the chips served up to the person in front of me but being hungry I stayed and I like to help local businesses My sausage in batter was top notch but the chips were cold and hard.I did ask for salt and vinegar but I think she must have missed the bag and salted and vinegared the counter because I couldn’t taste any Not for me I’m afraid,I’ll try elsewhere when I finish work late in future.I can accept getting ropey chips if they’re about to close but they still had an hour and a half to go so I don’t think there is an excuse to serve up chips like that.

Moody staff and chips with sharp edges and over cooked battered sausage and sauce tasted weeks old used to love this place but not anymore....

Should have learn my lesson by now. Poor value, poor quality and poor portions, badly cooked. Not going back. That was your last chance.

Staff unfriendly & battered fish very greasy

Been going there years and whilst it’s not great it’s eatable but this time was terrible I asked for steak and kidney pie got told by this lady who was serving nope none left So I said can I have minced beef When it came out and I cut into it it was actually chicken and mushroom it was a little busy so let it go and sat down and ate and was ok when wr left my wife told the lady she just stared no apology nothing won’t be going there again

The fish was freshly cooked so very nice, although the chips were also freshly out they were inedible due to full of black bits and bruises yuk

Fish needs to be skinned, you end up wasting a lot as we would not eat skin and it is very expensive, also chips are awfull they need the bad bits of potato removed so that the expensive chips can actually be eaten. Will not be visiting again.

Sat in and ate and was lovely. Service was good. Food was good and plentiful. Have not eaten in for many years, I will be returning.

Always nip in and get fish and chips here when I'm down that way great food every time,fish has always got crisp batter and chips are always hit with a crunch when you bite into them,definately recomend visiting, you can also eat in.

Considering I haven't been to this business in years, it has certainly changed a lot with it's quality of food and the service was so polite and friendly.

Great place and freindly team. I took a young non verbal and autistic gentleman here abd the lady was fantastic with engaging with him. Definatly my #1 chip chop from now on.

Great fish and chips but the miserable women behind the counter need to consider a career change. Not a clue how to be polite or interact with customers. Very off putting.

Just popped in for 3 lots fish &chips kiddies portion size chips ,fish size of goldfish for what they charge its disgusting won't be going back again not the happiest staff either

Won’t be going here again. Chip portion was very small, barely enough for one person. Food was just chucked in the bag. Fish cake was broken up into about 50 pieces in the bag and was all over the rest of the food. Feel like this was done in a hurry even though we were the only ones in there. Some people eating this were vegetarian so didn’t want fish cake all over their chips. Ended up having to throw some food in the oven instead once we got home. Terrible. Avoid.

Ordered chips and curry sauce, went back to car and looked in bag and was shocked to see there was hardly any chips. I went back in and asked if there was a mistake with the chips as I had a pot of curry sauce and few chips. This rude aggressive idiot came over and said that’s it, that’s the portion. He needs to go to customer bootcamp. Have always had too many chips to eat for an OAP like me. Apple pie was greasy and tasted of fish- not nice. WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN

The fish and chips tasted decent enough (no better or worse than others) but was the smallest portion I’ve had in years. It would be child size in a pub or another fish and chips shop & for the price I think it was not good at all. I wouldn’t go again. The restaurant itself was clean but the staff were a bit grumpy to say the least. I’ll stick to my usual in Lyndhurst.

Absolutely disgusting, cod was rubbery and cold and chips were old and cold too, got there at 12 noon and I recon this food was from the day before, and overpriced, gone downhill since I used to go in there.

Go here regularly as its the closest fish and chip shop to me. However todays order was disappointing. I knew that the portion sizes were not the best put todays chips were shockingly small. I honestly think I would get more chips from mcdonalds.

I think the chips were reheated from lunch time, very poor. I had two pieces of fish but, for £17.60 for one chippy dinner I must of put £6.00 of that in the bin.

Have been to this place on our holidays many times over the years. Always got good food and service. Went yesterday , best fish I've had for decades. We will be back again.

Extremely disappointed. The staff were rude and ill mannered. Food thrown into the takeaway bag. Curry sauce pot thrown in upside down, with the lid unattached. Which consequently spilled everywhere and ruined my car seats. Staff don't seem to care about their jobs or their customers. Not to mention the hair I found on my plate the last time we ate in the dining room. Would strongly not recommend.

Wasn’t much atmosphere as it’s a take away. Not sure what your looking for. But the food is grand, reasonably priced all tasty.

Poor, I took my elderly mum here bought fish and chips to take away. The fish was hard on the bottom, it must have been in the warmer a long time. The portion was also small and expensive, but worst of all, l Spent the late evening on the toilet with diarrhea. Don't go this shop

Good fish and chip shop food is nice and tasty my only issue is no small medium and large size just one size which is a bit small for me I could do with a larger portion

We use to go there all the time, but the quality has gone down dramatically. Chips were swimming in grease, the fish quality gone down and the service was disappointing. The young lads serving us later, saved it from 1 star. They've apologised for mix up caused by the 1st server and sorted things out.

From when we entered, the staff were relatively friendly and welcoming. We decided to dine in and it was very good value for money: when eating in, you get access to free Heinz condiments like tartar sauce and ketchup not to mention a clean toilet in a clean, tidy seating area. Food is good value with chips costing only £2.60 which smell scrumptious and taste delicious - freshly made! The fish is coated in a golden crispy batter which was served hot and flaky. I recommend to all in the area, a good chippy all in all.

We grabbed some chips on the way home, friendly service and some good chips! Definitely recommend.

I used to love this place but why it has gotten so expensive I don't know. We get less chips than ever and prices are higher than ever. Just had battered sausage and chips x 2 and chips total from 2 portions was enough for 1 compared to other chippies. Such a shame this was such a memorable place, will be going in to town next time.

The two young girls serving were more interested in having a chat then serving and even spoke loudly about the costumer before myself. The food was yummy however very overpriced for few chips and a little fishcake. Definitely better opinions out there

Cod and chips was quite nice but expensive. We asked if we could eat in. We were told we’d have to sit at the end and “only if you eat it out of the bag” The staff were miserable and made us feel we were an inconvenience to them. I went back up to the counter and asked for some ketchup. Was charged 30p for a tiny sachet. At this point, the girl that served us, then began kissing and cuddling the male cook who had his hands all over her…….REALLY? In front of customers!!? I nearly brought up my dinner! Go get a room if you want to do that. Horrible experience-won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend. Distinctly average.

Chips where soggy on the outside and hard on the inside, not sure how you do that and cod was dry with a tasteless batter. Goodies had a bad patch a few years ago but I thought they had turned a corner. Very disappointed.

Came here for the first and last time today. Food was not good at all. Dry stale chips that tasted like they were yesterday's. Fish batter was chewy and she shoveled salt in like it there was no tomorrow. Went in the bin and for 11.20 was a complete rip off!

Woman with purple/blueish coloured hair was rude and impatient even though no queue behind us, we were the only 2 in the place. I work with LD clients and because the service user was a little slow in answering what he wanted to order she was unpleasant. Would not recommend this place food was not fresh was in hotplate drying out I assume for a while from how stale it was.

Bit expensive, but the food was very tasty. Worth the wait and took advantage of the mozzarella dippers.

Disgraceful my grandson wanted a littke bit of xheese on his chios they refused even after we wanted to pay I will never come here again and will certainly be spreading the word as for the food it was disgusting it got thrown away

Absolutely awful food ,black chips where the potatoes were obviously old ,and we asked for a little sprinkling of cheese on my grandsons chips which we wanted to pay for the manager refused and would not budge ,will never ever eat there again what a terrible place

The prices are ridiculously high and the food is not good at all. All fried in dirty oil (which you can see and taste). Very sickening, it’s not worth a visit

I'd wanted to try Goodies for a while, and now I have I won't be going back. Someone I can only assume is the owner or manager was berating the younger staff in front of the customers and it was over the top... The food was expensive and the portions measly... Add insult to injury it was below par when it came to taste and quality. Baddies not Goodies ☹️

Fish was tasty and freshly cooked. However, portions of fish were small and expensive. Battered sausage tasteless. Chips were freshly cooked but I have never seen such minuscule portions. This is not a fish and chip shop that a family could afford to eat at regularly. The chips would need to be twice the quantity to make it a satisfactory sized adult meal. The fish portion either needs to be bigger or the price reflecting a small portion. If it had been served on a plate in the restaurant instead of in a bag to take away, the portions do not match their advertisement.

Staff really friendly and food was served nice and hot, fresh and didn't wait long at all. Lively big seating area to eat whilst it was raining outside. Def worth going for a decent fish and chips.

Tiny portion of chips for £2.40 which I have attached a picture of and the most miserable young blonde lady serving....I've used Goodies for years and this takes the mickey....I will be going to Totton fish far from now on as they at least smile when they take your money and you get a decent sized portion for less money

Decent food & decent knowledgeable staff, the young guy that served us was friendly & helpful. Fish & Chips is not a cheap meal anymore/anywhere but I always find Goodies good quality & the restaurant clean.

As an avid lover of fish and chips, Getting it right is important. I've been to 30+ Different Chippies over the last 3 years.. I randomly stopped at Goodies (Normally how the best stories start) as I was passing by on my way to the new forrest and was Starving. You pull into the parking and are greeted by this beautiful looking Chippy with a wonderful shining red tile wall that looks like its been cleaned with a tooth brush, cant see a single spec of dirt anywhere. Suprised to see there was even a restaurant where you could go and sit down instead of having a take away, inside that restaurant? An absolutely amazing collection of Saints shirts, signed England shirts, pair of signed books and some boxing items. I walk in and am blown away by the smell coming from the cookers, greeted by some of the most friendly staff I've met in a chippy, lady proceeded to tell me how she loves the signed England shirt as she used to Fancy Michael Owen. The conversation was great, those staff made me feel welcome and like I was a regular. To the best part the food, pricing is good! Had a Haddock and chips and a Battered Sausage and chips with some curry Sauce. Wow.. amazing fish, incredible batter, It was juicy and succulent, portion was great too! Sausage was just as good, they even got the chips right well cooked nice and tasty potatoes, clearly taken time to source the best ingredients for their incredible chippy. I liked it so much I had to go back yesterday and wow.. hour before closing and their staff are just as friendly, after a full days work... Had a good conversation again.. Found out about a Sunday Roast carvery they plan on running, you can bet ill be there for that. Food was just as good, seems they are extremely consistent with the quality too. To the owner of the goodies fish and chips, you've got such an incredible team, keep them they made the experience that much better. Also heard your planning on experimenting with some different foods, Scallops would be amazing!! (Hint hint) Great food, honestly can't wait to come back again. TL;DR: GOTO GOODIES YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!

This must be the most stingy sized portion of fish and chips on the planet. Be prepared to pay huge prices for portions big enough to feed a 4 year old child. Saying all that what we had was tasty just mean sized portions served by very miserable sour faced staff who look like they need to get a job as a traffic warden instead.

Nice to see a place busy at lunch time. I ordered 2 haddock & chips to take away. Haddock was lovely, moist and very tasty. Chips were okay, nowadays you don’t get chips with a good colour on them. Only complaint was the chips were a bit scrappy. Staff nice and friendly, place looked nice and clean.

Best chips i have found in Southampton area.

Came in for a cheeky spot of a fish and chips Tuesday night, and a lovely lad called troy served me tonight, it really made my evening!
