Good Chef in Poole

Very nice food but I thought compared with other take aways it was a tad expensive . Having said that the food was good and hot and the service quick.

Had a chinese from here recently they were very friendly on the phone food was hot when it arrived and was the best chinese ive had in a long time will definetely be returning!!

Like so many other people in this area, I was over the moon to see Good Chef open its doors again. I went in and ordered my food. It was apparent that the take away shop is under new management. The staff are very friendly but, when I got home, the food was very disappointing. The crispy seaweed wasn’t crispy and the batter around the chicken balls wasn’t crispy. I think the batter was a little too thick. Some weeks later I returned to the Good Chef to give them another chance. Unfortunately the food was equally disappointing for exactly the same reasons. It’s highly unlikely I’ll be returning to the Good Chef.

Visiting friends and went here for take out. Lovely food, generous portions and excellent service. We will return.

Had an enjoyable take out supper. Pork and mushroom, house chow mein and sweet and sour chicken balls, just wish could have had some pineapple with the balls that’s how we like it back in Canada. Very clean looking establishment, just one comment would have liked an acknowledgement when we arrived to pick up our order, busy in the kitchen but just stick a head out and say “Will be with you shortly.” We could have been walk ins and standing around for a few minutes staring at the four walls could put customers off.

Always disappointed when ordering chinese food. Wasn't expecting much from this place - but what a fantastic surprise. Crispy chilli beef that was both crispy and spicy, great curry sauce, the chow mein was really good (according to the mrs) and the kids loved the duck so much they're asking to come back all the time. We'll be back here again next time we're in the area. Highly recommended.

We have used the new Good Chef 3 times now, the food quality is excellent & the special curry is the best ever, the bbq ribs are top end. I ordered the food on the phone and it was on time to what I was told on the phone when ordering. The family are really nice and helpful keep it up !! Thanks again David

If you walk in to order don't bother. I went in to order and was asked to wait 4 times while the phone was answered and orders taken. By the five time I was getting annoyed but was told that phone orders take priority. Suffice to say I walked out and would not return due to the poor customer service. Big mistake good chef I was ordering for 8 people.

This is our first visit since the re-opening. Wow, our meal was fantastic. We ordered vermicelli Singapore noodles (requested spicy), salt and chilli chicken, sweet/sour chicken balls and chilli chips (know as a spice bag in Dublin). Each dish was fantastic and tasty with the perfect amount of spice. I am tired of getting a Chinese take away and it’s just sweet gelatinous rubbish. This is not the case here. The sweet and sour sauce you actually can taste the sour. It was a welcome change We will be back!

First takeaway from here under the new management. Duck with plum & pineapple was good, ribs also good which are a sign of a good Chinese for us! Rice and noodles were a little under- seasoned however I prefer it to be so whilst others in the family preferred more flavour. Nice that the chow menu wasn’t swimming in oil and the beef was tender. Sweet and sour sauce could be a little thicker but Bbq sauce was good. All in all pleased with our meal and will be returning. Just a shame no deliveries...yet!

I love this place the Chinese food is amazing it's sad that I've read on Google that they're shut I don't know if that's true I hope it's not because this is my favourite Chinese takeaway non-greasy really flavorful #GoodChefIsTheBest

Simple food, cooked to order, well prepared and excellent value. The place looks dingy, but the food was excellent. It’s a 25 minutes wait for it to be cooked, but hey, that means it’s not reheated and not microwaved. This is good food.

Worst Chinese takeaway ever!!!. The food had no taste at all whatsoever. The chicken satay was rock hard and chewy like leather. The peanut sauce was like thick jelly, hardly had any peanut taste and actually got stuck to the bottom of our sink!!.The rice was hard and chewy. What a waste of money!. Never going back there ever.

Went to this takeaway for the first time in years and was very pleased with everything. Ordered sweet and sour pork but couldn't decide on which rice would be best, the lady behind the counter was really helpful in explaining the options. You can pay by card which I am sure they didn't do the last time I visited. The food was cooked whilst I waited and you can see the chefs working which is great. Everything tasted lovely and there was loads of it. Will definitely be using again in future.

Really disappointed with my favourite take away tonight. Popped in at 7pm to order 1 dish for my dinner was told there was an hour wait! I went to the take away didn't order a delivery! Of course I did not wait. So am starving and miserable as I know how tasty it would have been! 😢surely 1 dish could have been bumped up the list?!

Si soy honesto nos visita aquí demasiado, semanal. La comida aquí es estupendo y siempre recién hecha muy sabroso y fiable, tanto si la orden de entrega o recoger usted mismo.

Hemos usado buen chef durante años, que parecen ser llenando y masificados, que supongo que es un buen anuncio. Normalmente un fin de semana de regalo para nosotros, no siempre por primera vez, pero la chica siempre es atento y profesional ya que tengo que solicitar un cambio de menú. Me encanta la comida, siempre sabe bien, nunca grasienta y muy caliente. Probamos otros pero para nada tan buenos como buen chef. Recomiendo encarecidamente pero orden temprano! !

Great takeaway for my husband's birthday. Food was really nice and menu varied. We did have to wait a while for delivery but that is to be expected on a bank holiday weekend and we were advised of the wait prior to ordering.

Ordered a large selection of food for a family get together. Was really tasty hot and delicious. These guys used to run Mak's Garden restaurant in Parkstone which was always brilliant. Still great same standard in takeaway food now.

we had a home delivery. our veg spring rolls were dripping with grease. our smoked chicken was dry and not edible.the curry sauce was lumpy & too thick ,couldnt even put a prawn craker in it without it breaking! will not order again

Beautiful food every time! I've never been unhappy with food from here, there can sometimes be a long wait for delivery, but good things are worth waiting for! It can sometimes be hard to get through on the phone, but a professional is always busy! The ducks lovely and beef curry is just fantastic highly recommend the good chef

We actually picked up a take away from here. The food we bought was delicious and I can't fault it at all, it is always very flavourful and well cooked.We did have one problem with a meal, we decided to ring ourselves a take away for delivery one evening, the delivery was okay in wait time and the food gorgeous except mine was the entirely wrong dish from that ordered, we rang them to tell them and along came the owner to our door, he asked us what the problem with the food was, he is also the chef, we showed him the now stone cold wrong dish from that ordered, he said fair enough and immediately had the correct dish delivered to us. The one thing about this experience I want to note is the owners attitude was actually very good even before he knew what the issue was with the food he'd cooked, he gave us an apology and left us feeling positive unlike other establishments staff when solving a problem. We now use them all the time when we have a treat!

Cannot understand the bad reviews on here. Have tried many different takeaways and good chef is by far the BEST I've ever tasted! Weekends are very busy but the food is always well worth the wait and because of this I order most weekends. Would highly recommend...ignore the bad reviews as the people writing them clearly don't know what delicious, good quality food is!

Delivered quicker than promised. Excellent taste. I particularly recommend the Lemon Chicken and the Sweet & Sour Aubergine.

Enjoyed a deliciuos take away, delivered in the time frame set. Only downside took a long time to be ready.

This was the first time we used the Good Chef and it was excellent We used the takeaway in Corfe Mullen but that is not a patch on this one Keep up the good standards

Ordered approx £50 of dishes for delivery to my home. The delivery arrived promptly and was hot and ultra tasty and actually lasted another day there was so much. Good value

Good food, hot and tasty. There is a wide variety of dishes. We were given free prawn crackers and fortune cookies....a lovely touch

As regular users of the Good Chef, we continue to be very pleased with the consistently good quality of their take-away food. We find orders by phone take about 20-30 mins to be prepared ready for collection and are rarely delayed.

I use this take away regularly and find some of the negative reviews surprising, I always get a good service, and they deliver miles away to Pamphill!

We ordered our meal as a midweek celebration of our wedding anniversary. We ordered set menu C plus sweet and sour chicken balls and spring rolls (there were 3 of us!). The smoked shredded chicken was so overcooked and dry it was impossible to know what it was, and the duck, spare ribs & spring rolls were also very dry. The rest of the meal was ok but the overall eating experience was totally spoiled by this. On reflection we should have phoned and complained and regret not doing so. We would not risk ordering from this takeaway again.

Violently sick after every time either I of friends have had food from here! Appalling quality and never to be recommended! I know this is someone's business and I try never to write a bad review as it is detrimental to them but someone here should buck their ideas up, clean it up or close it down!

I never leave reviews for anything, but we have had a takeaway from Good Chef tonight and it was amazing!! Even the packaging was lovely! The food was hot, fresh and cooked to perfection. No grease or oil, just tasty well made Chinese food. I would absolutely recommend it and will only ever be buying my food from here in future. 5 stars!

The food here is excellent, can be very busy at times so be prepared to wait, but it is worth waiting for. The Curry is delicious. ANd the menu is varied with lots of choices.

The food is very poor. Everything tasted of vinegar . The vegetables in the dishes were so over cooked you could hardly guess what they were. We definatly will not be ordering from there again.

In a word ''tasteless''. Like an earlier reviewer we had menu B but found the main course dishes bland and watery. The side order of Singapore noodles lacked spice and content. Very expensive for what they were. Pity, we travelled from Wimborne in search of a decent Chinese take away. The search continues....

Verry busy so phone early or go there and wait. Excellent food, rated high on Food Agency rating. I cant resist the Sambal chicken. I have not seen this any where else.

The proof is in the 'pudding' or in fact the Chinese Takeaway. To complete a Birthday weekend my wife decided that we should conclude the weekend with a meal from the Good Chef. Yet again we were not disappointed with the quality of the food it was delivered hot and very tasty. I am now going to be ultra critical and comment that I would have given 5 stars if the food supplied had been a little more generous in quantity. 2 small pieces of sesame toast and 2 spare ribs and a 3/4 filled tray of food could be improved upon, the rest of the meal was of the usual quality and quantity. To the management please provide adequate portions and gain that 5th star.

It has been a little while since I used this takeaway and I have to say that I have suffered with below par food from other local takeaways.We had a set meal (B) together with a Malaysian noodle side dish. The food was hot and most importantly the food was not running with grease/fat as a lot of takeaways provide, this food obviously had a small degree of grease/fat as that is the way it is cooked but what is most important is that we were able to taste the food as it was not overpowered in the grease/fat it was cooked in. Other takeaways should note that there were no foreign bodies in our food.We will definitely use the Good Chef again, Top marks for Top food.Rod White

Ordered a takeaway from the Good Chef in Broadstone for the first time last night. Rarely leave reviews about anything, but as the meal was good I thought it was worth it! The food was delivered quickly, hot and tasty, and all the ingredients were put together well. We usually use another takeaway for Chinese, but based on last night's meal we would use them again for certain.

Beautiful food and great value for money. Would also like to say how friendly our delivery driver was, so refreshing to be greeted with fantastic customer service by a man who clearly has great work ethic. Will absolutely be ordering again :)
