This pub is truly a cornerstone of any visit to St. Andrews. You can not beat its location, especially the small patio, and the atmosphere is so golfer-friendly I can't imagine a more golf-centric pub anywhere in the world. A good selection of beers and OK, but not the best, service. Sadly, the food was terrible. My first order, the mac and cheese, was so bad I had to return it. I then asked for the chicken baguette. It was terrible too. Sadly, the menu does not have much traditional Scottish pub fare, which is what one might expect when you are 100 yards from the Old Course.

Golfers choice of pubs/pubs at St Andrews! Pictures galore of pro golfers, celebrities and politicians as well as movers and shakers! Beer is cold, rowdy atmosphere at times, and a little better then your average bar. We actually went there twice! A must place to go to tell all your golfing buddies🏌🏼

I’ve eaten here in 2013, 2014, and now again in 2023. It’s a pub. Expect pub food and drinks. Their signature drink (“The Phillips”, I believe they call it, but I could be wrong) went over very well with my daughter and wife. I had the steak and ale pie and overall the food, drink, and service were all good. What really brings people here is the fact that it is just a tad over 100 yards away from the Old Course and all of the photos of famous golfers, actors, etc. who have been here. I understand that “new” owners took over from Jack and Sheena (from my previous visits) and the photos do seem to have new characters in them now, while many remain from Jack and Sheena’s days as well. There’s history here and it’s worth stopping by for at least a drink, if not a meal as well.

Our foursome went to the Dunvegan restaurant for dinner. The setting is small with four or five tables but we found ourselves sharing the only room with a table of 12 golfers and another small table occupied by a family of six with two teenage girls. The table of golfers was extremely loud and there was considerable swearing (F word often shouted). I spoke with a woman who appeared to be the lead server to complain. She said that this was a golfers' pub and what I was hearing was "atmosphere." It's important to note that we weren't in the pub but in the restaurant. After completing a so-so dinner, we retired to the pub as we were tired of waiting for our check. The other table did the same. They complained about the noise also to no avail. In the pub both parties were given our check by the lead server and we each paid but again complained about the shouting and swearing. The woman offered a vague apology and seemed happy to see us leave. While paying the bill, two individuals from the table of 12 approached us to apologize for their group's behavior. There staff needs to understand the meaning of the word "atmosphere" and the definition of proper decorum--especially among teenage girls. The restaurant is for the benefit of ALL customers.

Visited this establishment and was very disappointed in the food that we received. I know that in the current financial climate all things are expensive but we paid £5 for a side of macaroni which would probably cost pennies. Chicken wings that were not advertised as spicy and to hot for my taste and could not eat was close to £10.

It's a tradition to go to the Dunvegan after your round at the Old Course. Especially your first time. Do it. But do it for the experience to see all of the pictures and enjoy the camaraderie with your partners. The service was OK, teh beer was cold but the food was blah frankly -- an expensive over done burger and US fries for too many pounds. The only so so meal in our 21 day trip around Scotland.

Stop by for dinner after playing a wonderful round of golf at The Old Course… The food was good, not great… And for the most part, the service was also good. They had one waitress who was unhappy and expressed herself poorly to the customer. So, 3 stars...

I was part of a group golf trip and ate lunch in the pub which was quite nice for a reasonably priced lunch and drinks but my review is regarding our overpriced dinner. Our driver booked the Dunvegan restaurant and it was apparent when walking in, the dinner area was aimed at golf group trips. Not sure if our driver got some type of reward for taking us here but the only other diners were another group of golfers. The entrees were about 30-35 lbs and although the meet quality was good, the sauces and other condiments were not as described. The lamb with peppercorn brandy reduction was more like a brown gravy. We did have a good time but if I were to return, I would stick to the pub fare in the casual section and insist your driver stop somewhere else for a nice dinner.. Another annoying part of the meal is the 90's o music that repeated over and over. When I asked about the choice of music, I was informed they only have one cd and they play it over and over and over again.

Appetizers in the bar were awesome. Definitely a must-have. Drinks were plentiful and service was outstanding. Three cheers for Lindsay who served our large group of 12 hungry and belligerent golfers. She dished it out and kept everything coming just perfectly. Absolute best.

We spent every night of our 5 day golf trip closing down the Dunvegan. It is has a fantastic vibe and its location is a dream. What makes this please extra special are the staff. Lindsey was our favorite, and she was sharp and witty as an caddie we encountered. Her banter was spot on. We had business guests and she made all of the laugh and feel included. Some even remembered her from a few years back. Only unfortunate incident was when I told the owner she was being rude as a bit of a joke. I think he may have taken it to heart and I hope it was explained later sorry Linz. Also I wish I would have purchased a Dunvegan polo while I was there. Any chance you ship to the states? You guys are the best and I hope to be back soon.

What a great little pub with great food. Mac and cheese were amazing. Stayed hot from the time it arrived at the table, until I couldn't eat any more. Great portions.

This is the best coffee shop in St Andrews - but only in terms of the coffee and the food. I love the drinks and the bagels especially are *french kiss* but I would love to be able to come and sit, and enjoy my bagel at a table. The issue is that the already limited seating is taken up by students who have pretty much always finished their drinks. I really think it would be a good idea to have maybe half of the seats reserved for people who just want to come and sit for 10 minutes to have a drink because the shop itself is so nice and clearly very well finished. As a student myself I know there are plenty of study spaces in town so a study free area surely wouldn't meet much resistance? I for one would visit the cafe much more often, instead of just for takeaways. That said, the staff are amazing and the coffee is superb.

My husband and I visited here today and ordered a cup of spicy lentil soup and a sandwich cost £10 each. The food arrived and my cup of soup was only half full and my husband's 3/4 full.I took my soup back and was told you only get one ladle.I said it should be a cupful as stated but was told no.I went back to my seat but was livid as I hate to be ripped off.I asked for the manager and the guy on the till said I will give you more soup which he did.The soup was lovely and the sandwiches also good made with lovely bread. The guy came over to take the plates and said he was sorry he upset me and I said you didn't upset me and I had been annoyed at being done.He apologised and offered me a free lunch.I advised I am only here for the day.The next thing he was back with 2 sweets in a box with forks and napkins to eat later.I thanked him for the cakes. We had them with coffee later on and delicious. I don't know the guys name but you have restored my faith in humanity and the cafe.We will visit again and encourage others to do so also.Thank you for your understanding.

Such a lovely evening with food and drinks. Our second and we will be back! Food is fantastic, great menu, Craig, Alison and all the friendly people you have there makes this the best pub that we have ever visited. Thank you for remembering us and for your warm welcome back. Anyone visiting the area, you must visit The Golf Inn, it really is perfect! See you soon 😊
