Very friendly staff, lots of tables, extensive menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their coffee is of a standard of far posher and more expensive places. I love this cafe.

Great place to go for an all day breakfast or a quick easy meal out. This was my first time visiting here and I had the 'choose your own breakfast', very tasty with friendly service and nice atmosphere. Would come again.

This place is cheap, which is reflected in the quality of the food. But since it's more of a junk/fast food place it works. Staff is polite and you get free condiments with your food, which is more of a pub thing, but it's cool. Great for a hangover breakfast.

Great selection of dishes especially for the veggie lover, but what's better still is the value, and atmposphere. The setting - Goldsmiths uni - the clientele - students - superb portions for less than a fiver - 100% perfection - there is no better cafe (Card machines aren't used though since it's too busy - so bring cash (atm next door and opposite)).

Lovely place for a brilliant cooked breakfast! We usually have a breakfast or lunch here most weekends because it is such good value and everyone is very friendly! Also in the summer you can sit outside and eat your breakfast in the sun!

Food that is under a fiver, service that is fast and friendly, and an extensive and delicious menu. You cannot go wrong with this place.

Colazione discreta e prezzi molto bassi. I proprietari sono sorridenti e gentili, ho mangiato due volte, una full breakfast e una jacket potato. Entrambi buoni per i quello che ho pagato, intorno ai 4 pound. Nulla per Londra.

This is a no-faff, reasonably priced relaxed place to go. An ideal place to grab lunch or breakfast with friends, and the staff remind you of a robust, kindhearted family. decent

I came there because I was staying at New Cross Inn and I was looking for some food, so the first day I was there I didn't bring money coz I thought I can pay with card, but wasn´t like that, they dont accept card, so I was going out but the waitress offered me the food by free, later I came back to pay them, since then I was visit this place for almost one month. Anyway the food is excellent, and is a lot so you pay what you get!

I can't believe how busy this place is, I can only imagine the customers have cast iron digestive systems. Went for a full English breakfast on a Sunday, really poor quality sausages and bacon, tinned mushrooms, and what they describe as bubble and squeak, but is actually watery mashed potato with a bit of cabbage in it. Not fried cakes as it's meant to be. I have a strong constitution, but didn't manage to keep my food down this time. It's cheap, yes, but completely inedible.

My daughter was going to Goldsmiths during the spring 2014 semester and ate here often and raved about the waffles with strawberries and ice cream on them. Although not on the menu, they can be ordered if you ask nicely enough. We waited for the chef Carmen to arrive and she prepared this special item for us. It was so worth the wait! Will definitely visit again when we are in London again.

Whilst picking my daughter up from Goldsmiths University I had time to have a cooked breakfast here. You get a great "Full English" that costs only £4.45. A lemon tea was an additional 80p.The food was fresh and tasty. The staff were very friendly.I hope to return.

Great service, nice food at really reasonable prices. Ideal place for hungover Goldsmiths students. Coffee etc for £1, bargain for London (and not a greasy spoon!) Sit outside in the summer.

Buen café, pero es a mediados de enero y la puerta está abierta y la calefacción está apagada. Se sentó en abrigos y se fue para ir a un lugar más cálido. También la música era un poco ruidosa para tener una conversación.

For me, as lovely as the staff are, it's not a great restaurant. It's very outdated, and it needs a massive revamp and a massive clean. It could be a wonderful place to get food, but it needs a proper in-depth. Makeover, clean new menu end more customer Focused.Unfortunately the restaurant is stuck in the 80s at the moment I do hope this restaurant gets a proper revamp before it's too late and we lose a great place in the community

Restaurant dirty and run down. Food terrible, pie undercooked underneath and over ooked on top. Pastry like leather, meat scarce and tasteless. Gravy bland and watery.

Having just experienced a masterclass in bad service, I was moved to write a first-ever restaurant review. My wife and I walked in mid-afternoon without a booking on the off-chance there'd be an available table. After checking, the maitre d confirmed no tables inside - fair enough - but that we could eat outside unless we wanted to wait until 6pm to eat. Outside we went and sat in a heated booth with a reserved sign. The server then told us we would need to move but couldn't confirm what time the booth booking was due, and all the other reserved signs were just there to help manage walk-ins. Odd way to handle it, but no problem - we moved to a non-booth table and the server kindly moved a patio heater for us, took our order for a roast each and placed our cutlery on the table. He then returned to tell us that in fact there was no food available. As in, no honouring of our order, no starters available, no food at all. On questioning he said it was because they needed to 'protect advance bookings'. No answer to what would've happened had we waited until the 6pm table; seemingly no solution for walk-ins whatsoever. So we ordered a cold sausage roll bar snack. And then the cherry on the service cake - the poor server was sent out by his maitre d to collect our cutlery. No attempt by the maitre d to apologise, make any attempt to explain, comp the cold sausage rolls or offer us a round of drinks. If we'd been told at the beginning there was no food available, we would've understood and left without spending money on a round of drinks (and the cold sausage rolls). It will take quite something to convince us to return. To the owners of The Talbot - you've done a lovely job on the renovation, your food looks great, and you've created a great vibe. But your customers are your lifeblood and your people are your key strength and you seem to have forgotten both those essential points.
