Delicious food, lots of options for hot and cold food. Good range of drinks, snacks and cakes. Reasonably priced for London, sandwiches around £7 (e.g. brie and ham), soup around £9, hot meals £12-15. Picnic benches outside and booths inside. Friendly and helpful staff, easy to find the menu and easy to order.

I hesitate to question why there are a few very negative reviews on here, but they simply do not ring true to me. The café in Golders Hill Park is a hugely popular spot with locals and is a great place to catch breakfast, lunch, coffee or an ice cream. It’s open every day from early-ish in the morning through to late afternoon, and you will always find groups of local people sitting for long gossips outside, often with their dogs, as well as lots of families, joggers, and residents from the Hampstead and Golders Green areas. The prices are what you would expect from the local area, and pretty reasonable, the staff are fantastic and work very hard to deal with a large numbers of people especially on sunny days. The ice cream is a particular highlight with a separate ice cream serving hatch during the summer. I would say that the cakes, especially scones, cheesecake and occasional specials, like pecan pie, are particularly good, the coffee is just as good as you get at one of the large coffee chains, and the selection of drinks is quite extensive. This is a great place to stop for a sandwich, like meal or breakfast as you walk round , Golders Hill Park, a little-known Gem itself in North London, with its animals and duckpond, stone, Paris, and other interesting features. I am simply mystified by the negative reviews which bear no relation to my long experience of this great little café.

Have been coming here for years, but on my last visit recently their were new staff. The 2 ladies were badly trained, gave poor & in one case, rude service. Prices are the highest in the area, which might be acceptable if the products were top class, but you can buy better quality & cheaper down the road. Coffee was tasteless, too much water & milk. If at all possible AVOID, that way the management MAY WAKE UP!!!

Tourist trap, avoid. I picked up a bowl of takeaway tuna salad, looks less decent than supermarket tuna salad. No price label, queue for a bit, then I was asked to pay for £11.50! I double checked with the staff, he said yes, it's £11.50. it's much more expensive than freshly prepare salad in the city.

This place used to serve nice food but was so disappointed today. Prices up and quality down. Had possibly the worst jacket potato of my life for £8.50- seems had been microwaved to order… kids meals are also very steep at 8.50 for small portions of poor quality food. Waiting staff spoke no English so was difficult to get help to ask for anything. The ice cream is great but next time I will avoid anything else!

I understand the feedback about rude staff, but depends on who you get - we were there about 20 minutes before closing time and a big burly staff member rudely told us they were closing soon. Another staff member quickly came over and explained that we could order some takeaway. The ladies loo not being open isn’t acceptable as the next one is quite some distance away. Food is just about ok…

I just have to post this to counter the reviews about rude service. We call here for coffee and cake regularly and receive a warm welcome. The coffee is well above the standards of similar places , especially those run by the large concessions who nearly took over here a few years ago. The cakes are also different and the apple cake is to die for. We do sometimes see rude and arrogant customers but that is perhaps to be expected in an affluent area with people with a sense of entitlement.

The food isn't cheap but the prices compare well with other park cafes and National Trust/English Heritage sites, there is blackboard full of choices, the ingredients are fresh and the portions more than generous. We have seen the staff going the extra mile for elderly customers of which there are many and clearly mothers are not put off by the not unreasonable ban on buggies in the cafe since the place has been thronged with young families all summer. A half hour spent on the terrace drinking coffee while watching kids, dogs, tai chi enthusiasts, Pokemon hunters and power walkers in the beautiful park is a half hour in heaven. I can't really rate the refreshment house as a cafe as I only ever come for their home made ice creams. But based on the standard of the ice cream I'll say it's very good. A good variety of flavours and always a friendly server. Lovely seating outside that is relaxing and has a great view. An outing at the park isn't complete without an ice cream!

My friends reported that the coffee was good and the whole place was certainly busy, on a very hot day. Perhaps they have become complacent as there is no competition. When we returned for lunch (2 30, a little late maybe) only one person was serving, causing a long queue, a very poor choice of sandwiches and baguettes, and the man serving drinks was quite rude to me. When I asked for more hot water for my tea as the mug was very small he said, sharply, 'You should have asked for a mug' when I actually had had a mug. They also charge 60p for hot water, which I have never seen before (perhaps this is when people bring a very specialised teabag). Then we were given a table marker and the heated paninis took quite some time to arrive. I'd say they need to reflect on their customer service skills.

Great cafe, meals looked good but only had cake and coffee. Would recommend. In door and outdoor seating, great for kids, toilets clean always a plus

観光客はあまり行くことはないと思います。住宅街にある小さな公園の一角にあるカフェです。メニューも普通です。でも、地元の人が不通の利用しているという気さくな感じが悪くないです。

Frequented this restaurant many times from 2003 through 2007. Most of those times were on a weekend morning and my wife and I went there for a leisurely breakfast. Probably 90% of those times service was excellent and the food was just as good (very good scones and teas). They were not really a coffee house nor a full service restaurant during these years and any reviewer that reviews them as such is doing the staff and the park a disservice. Th Ice cream and gelato were always outstanding. One of the smaller out of the way parks and restaurants in London

Food very average and service not very good. its a shame as the park is lovely and with some tweaks the restaurant could be improved. Staff could be more smiley!!

This cafe has changed very little in the 40 years I have been coming here. It was very busy today as it always is at weekends or on holidays. I have not tried the hot food in recent years as I prefer to eat in Golders Green (loads of places these days) but come here for a drink. The tea / coffee / chocolate are pretty good quality and prices you would expect from this type of amazing location. The cakes are rather ordinary looking though and mostly not homemade I would think. Service is not very friendly but I think that is because the staff are so busy and probably have lots of awkward customers. There are loads of outside tables and the views are fantastic but this place could and should be so much better but is a bit stuck in the 1970s.

We really love coming to this Park and especially the Refreshment House cafe. All day long they churn out delicious home made ice-cream , although you should be prepared to queue as it is very popular. The coffee is traditional and the menu contains home made pasta and fresh salads. We will be back, I need to try another delicious ice-cream.

Every time I go to this cafe I prepare myself for friction. Not only are the staff abrasive to the point that I feel like I've done something wrong, but the customers are often rude and pushy too. Maybe it's the regular's (mostly elderly) reaction to the bad service, but there's often people trying to budge the long queue and saying: "I just want a coffee!!". Seems to be a chicken and egg story. I don't know if the staff are hardened like prison keepers because of the rude and pushy guests, or vice-versa, but either way I come prepared with headphones and dark sunglasses and try not to tune into anything until the last minute when I have to argue for my food/drink. If you want some average food and a chuckle at the state of humanity in this lovely park, go for it!!!

This was half-term week. We took our granddaughter for lunch and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. The staff were friendly and helpful even when our granddaughter wanted to exchange the drink I had bought for another. They did this in a smiling and friendly manner in spite of being incredibly busy.

My family and I had lunch in the Cafe today and were very surprised to see all the bad comments here.We all had Tomato and Basil Soup which was very welcome on a very cold day, it was tasty, hot and such a large bowl full that we were full, it also came with a hot roll and portion of cheese.Good value. The only negative was that when seated at the first few tables there is a strong cooking smell which can be unpleasant. The staff were helpful, smiling and attentive.

Went with a group of walking friends and were really looking forward to lunch but what a disappointment. I ordered soup which was lukewarm and had to pay 80p extra for a small roll It arrived with cheese that l did not order but had been charged for. l asked for a refund which they gave me. I then noticed that they even charge 30p for hot water.

I visited this café today with a group of friends--we were cold and hungry, but were extremely disappointed with the attitude of the staff and the quality and price of the food. The soup was lukewarm and I have never been asked to pay extra for a roll to go with it before --that's a first (extra money for them of course) and who has ever had to pay 30p for hot water? the staff need training in how to treat customers---they haven't got a clue. The park is a delight and looking beautiful at the moment--what a shame I cant say the same for the café--next time I shall take a picnic--much more enjoyable.

My children and I love Golders Hill Park. We just wish that cafe did not serve such bad food. I can confidently say that I had the worst soup in my life last Saturday. It did not look or smelled safe to eat: what came to my head: leftovers diluted with hot water. This time I shall keep my promise and NEVER buy any food there again.

I visited Golders Hill Park last week with my sister and nine month-old baby. I grew up in the area and was keen to take my daughter to the mini zoo and gardens that I'd enjoyed so much as a child. At lunchtime we decided to nip into the cafe for a sandwich and to feed the baby. Bad move. The cafe's door and windows are festooned with signs stating that buggies are not allowed and other similarly negative things. I've no problem with leaving my buggy outside, but at least have a secure buggy park - there's plenty of room. Indeed, why not allow buggies at non-peak times? We visited on a rainy Tuesday and there was practically no-one in the cafe once we'd negotiated the negative signs on the door. There was bags of room for buggies. When we got in, we picked up a highchair and noticed more signage advising not to put highchairs in aisles. Again, I've no problem with this, but most of the seating is fixed, so there is little choice but to put the highchair in an aisle. We found a table with a removable seat and replaced it with the highchair. Not wishing to upset the staff by placing the chair in an aisle (the signs! the signs!), my sister took the chair up to the counter to ask where to put it but was totally ignored. She eventually put it in a corner only to be pounced on by a surly woman at a different table (who turned out to be a member of staff) who rudely told her off for moving the chair. It would have been nice if she'd have offered to help when she saw us looking for somewhere to sit. Normally I'd have upped and left at this, but baby was hungry. I went up to the counter to order a sandwich, a cake, a tea and a coffee and was relieved of £12. As the guy behind the counter was handing over my inch of tea in a miniscule cup, surly staff lady was making herself a big mug of tea. Nice. As we ate our lunch, I began feeding my baby her pouch of baby food. At this, surly staff woman came and stood over us, presumably checking that I wasn't trying to eat any of her food myself and be therefore flouting one of the many barking-order signs around the walls. Remarkably, she stood over us for the duration of our meal!! At one point she told me to move my baby's bottle of water off the table! My sister and I were clearly eating and drinking food that we'd bought on the premises, but the staff obviously have a problem with babies eating...BABY FOOD! We finished up and left. If it wasn't so uncomfortable and rude it'd be funny! It's worth noting that the food was terrible. My tuna and cheese sandwich was beyond dry. A bit of marge wouldn't have gone amiss. It was like trying to eat a piece of balsa wood with a cheese/tile grout topping. God knows how long it had been sitting there. I couldn't even wash it down with tea as there was barely any in the cup. Before coming to stand over us, surly staff lady was sitting at a table eating a bowl of chips when a customer came in and asked for a bowl of chips. She was told in no uncertain terms that the cafe did not serve chips. She pointed out surly staff lady's chips and was very patronisingly told that chips were only for staff. Unsurprisingly, she walked out. What kind of business is this? They've obviously been using Fawlty Towers DVDs as training videos. If your idea of a nice meal is eating DIY equipment while being watched by someone who'd be more at home working in a prison, then Golders Hill Park Refreshment House is for you. Alternatively, take a picnic. I'd rather feed my baby in the rain then spend my hard-earned money going there again. It's such a shame as the park is gorgeous.

Wow, the ice-cream here was rather like being in Amalfi or Florence rather than the outskirts of Hampstead. Cake was fresh, full of cream and the coffee too die for. Would that all Park catering outlets were as thoughtful and proud of their food. Sadly too many London parks havea rubbish product to offer which is sad. The café here also offers tip-top pasta, soups and snacks. Around the corner is one of Londons only free zoos and the park is a haven full of surprises such as Jake & Dinos Chapman sculptures!

I love this park, it's very close to my house and I'm going there few a month. I feel sorry for the staff in that restaurant, the management does not know how to deal with scheduling when it comes to nice weather. the queues which I see sometimes make me think it would be faster to go down the road and pick a coffee from Starbucks and come bk. they understaff the restaurant for wkends, make only 1 till working, just 1 poor girl making coffees... tables not being cleaned... No wonder the staff is under stress and is a bit bitter. So I would suggest to the owner to exchange the manager and spend a little bit more money on an extra staff since the food and some products are overpriced anyway. This is a shame for such a great location.

At the cafe on Saturday:Me: "Can I have an Americano, please?"Surly waitress, pointing at board listing espresso, cappuccino etc. "Can't you see, we don't sell Americano?"Me: "Can I have half a cup of hot water with a double espresso on top?"SW: "yes, of course".Coffee was horrible anyway, and the lettuce in Linda's baguette was so old it had started to go slimy. Avoid.

I've been coming here on and off for years while daughter is at ballet school next door and the service has been consistently awful. The staff are abrupt, terse, downright rude. I've never seen any kind of service with a smile attitude. The customer is certainly not right and the only thing they're happy to do is take your money. Today I've finally had to write a review after waiting 30 mins for soup. Busy day or not, that is too long. That plus the barking, stone faced staff. In future I'll go over the road to The Bull and Bush. Also if you have a small baby in pram, forget it as you won't be welcome.

We visited Bank Food & Drink in Mill Hill last night for dinner and drinks. A super impressive venue, stunning interiors with a West End feel to the place. A great menu, by chef Tony; we enjoyed a selection of starters and I had the sirloin for mains (my photo of it doesn’t do it justice so not posting!). Great food, exceptional service and hospitality from Armando and his team. Definitely worth checking out for a special night out when you don’t want to travel into London.

In my opinion i think that stela house is average as the service wasn't all that, the atmosphere is alright however, i did not like the attitude of their staff as i was waiting to order one of the staff was just ignoring me for around 10 minutes just having a laugh with her colleague

The food here is normally quite good for an average JD Wetterpants in a pretty scruffy bit of Kingsbury. The tables were messy with half of them uncleared. The clientele don't particularly care as long as they get piles of cheap food. I can't say I enjoy this particular Spoons but it's easy to park nearby and as I said the food us usually good and the service is fast. I think it's a solid 3 Stars.

Food was amazing but felt the atmosphere was lacking no background music. One of the waitresses didn’t know what food she was giving us when asked needs some training I would say. Other than that was a great evening
