Golden Star Take Away in Nuneaton and Bedworth

Never ordered from here before but our normal Chinese was closed looked at reviews seems good but food was so blend and tasteless won’t be ordering again

Very nice food small little place couldn’t eat in really though chicken/mixed balls and chips were really nice too so definitely recommend this place!

Golden star you need to retrain your call handler some basic customer service. Very rude and impolite attitude. Assumes I am making a complaint before I even finished my sentence. I have been a frequent customer of this takeout for almost 5 years. From now on I will rather eat frozen Chinese than deal with that nasty attitude receptionist.

Most Chinese takeaways are very similar and this one is no different, usual menu, as expected prices served in a timely fashion. Food OK no issues encountered. Cash only.

The place was amazing before the best food, after the new management it's not so good. People are rude and the food it's not so good anymore

The customer service was excellent! I was notified 20mins before by the kind lady about my delivery order being slightly late but still confirmed that the order was going to be fresh and hot when it arrived and it did! The food was hearty and comforting, would definitely order more :]

I have never been disappointed from their service. Food is always very testy and overall experience has always been very positive.

Poor took 2hours to get to us and was cold had to warm. Won’t be going back

Have used this Chinese for a long while with no complaint but no more, For the second time now in the last few months the waiting time for food has been ridiculous at almost 2 hours and when it's arrived it's been well below par, either greasy, overcooked and rock hard but last nights was lukewarm. Not risking getting food poisoning because the staff at this place cannot pull their finger out and put their customers over profit like they used to. Someone else can have my custom instead

Consistently good food. Polite and fast delivery. Best in Nuneaton

For the last 4 times, we have ordered the food has been delivered to early or the last 3 times 1 and half hours late. No apologies, no interaction between them,and us ,no phone calls to let you know what's happening.

Terrible delivery service, time given as 40 mins to 1 hr ... actual time over 2 hrs, when contacted, told food had been delivered. Eventually Food arrived, was cold, delivery driver said store taken too many delivery orders .... if using .... COLLECT only! 2 star for food as cold on delivery....

Food here used to be really nice and as a regular customer had no complaints but just lately its not been good will be looking to go else where in the future.

Ordered 3 meals by Telephone for home delivery,arrived 1hr later,all meals were luke warm at best and Chips and Rice were cold,will not be using again(I'D SOONER STARVE)....

Food was greasy, bone and skin in the chicken fried rice. Noodles looked and tasted like they were soaked in fat. Chicken balls were the same. Dont know whats happened to the place but its gone downhill. Used to be a decent Chinese. Rang up to tell them and got offered 10% off next order. Keep it shan't be ordering again!

We used to be regulars at Golden Star for a few years. From the time we called & spoke to the lovely, cheerful lady to when we had eaten food, everything about them was fantastic, especially the portion sizes. In the past few months (around May/Jun 2023), it appears to have changed hands and the difference is glaringly obvious. We've not ordered just the once & thrown the towel in; we've given them a shot roughly 4-5 times & decided it is no longer our chosen Chinese takeaway choice, sadly. The first few orders contained more MSG in my dish than I'd ever had in all previous dishes combined, but there has also been a HUGE change in portion size. The mixed meat black bean used to come in a large container and now it is reduced to small (new owners initially started using the large ones & then changed). I understand new owners have new challenges when regulars call & the menu & staff differ. I'm always open to accommodating this, but I can't see me ordering here again & I'm sure customers will find Golden Star is for them. Sadly, it isn't for us anymore.

Went with a friend to pick his food up. Never used this one before. He said it was the best he'd had.

Ordered dinner at 6.36pm was fair delivery to Whitestone and prices seemed fair. Was told 45 -1hrs at 8.30pm dinner arrived cold. They lost a customer

Excellent food, been using the Golden Star for years and it never disappoints.

Abysmal ordered at 7.30pm told an hour delivery, hadn't arrived by 9pm, phoned to ask about it, they said the driver was still there, so cancelled it won't order from there again

Always delucious food at a price. Very nice lady at the shopfront. You can order food by telephone and have it deliver for a small fee but we alway go there, order and pick it up because the waiting time is just a few minutes.

Quick, friendly, food nice. More expensive than others locally. Atmosphere? Well, it's a takeaway serving hatch and a cold room to collect.

Great food….. Delivery man forgot to give me my change, said he posted it through my letter box but no money here… had to chase it up again this morning . Not impressed with his answer “you will find it trust me”

I cannot recommend this wonderful establishment enough. The price is reasonable for portion size, the food is absolutely delicious and always arrives within a short space of time piping hot and well packaged. Staff are always really lovely, polite and friendly. Fantastic place to eat

This is defiantly one of the best Chinese takeaways in the world, not just because of the food, which is second to none, but the staff that work there are the some of the most amazing friendly people you will ever meet, always serve with a smile, and when asked for something to be done a little different, the chef can work absolute magic in that kitchen, if you haven’t tried it you’re not living, keep up the good work guys! 79/55 ❤️

These people lied to me in order to buy my deceased mums family home . I asked them Repeatedly if they were going to live in it as I didn’t want to sell it to them if they were going to rent it out as it had been our childhood home and my mum would’ve been devastated At one point I pulled out as I heard that they were going to rent it out but they became so distraught , apparently crying, I was told by The estate agents. They promised me that they were definitely going to live in it and there was no way they were going to rent it out they promised me this and I had an email confirming that this is so. Two weeks after I’ve sold it to them it is now up for rent , I am devastated . They are dishonest people . I had the right to choose who I sold my beautiful mum’s family home to and you lied and took that right away from us !!!! I hope that house will bring you nothing but unhappiness

Brilliant Food at an excellent price. Me and a good friend of mine have made it part of our ritual to have a chinese every last Friday of the month or on special occasions and are both very impressed with the quality of the food available at Golden star 🌟. Long may it continue

I go here in-person to order and collect, rarely have to wait long, food is flavourful, good portions (although I often ask for a large chilli shredded beef), the family enjoy everything from here, I count myself lucky to have such a good Chinese takeaway so close by.

Lovely staff and such a quick service, food is above average and packing on point! Would definitely recommend! Salt and chilli chips and salt and chilli chicken chily

Meal was cold . Picked it up went to my house just up the road and it was cold wouldn't mind but 70p short of £50 for a cold meal not happy 😡

Got order wrong told on the phone had to order 10.00 worth of food for delivery. Then they got the order wrong and food was cold will never order from them again and the girl on the phone was no help either when called to complain

The noodles didn't agree with me on both occasions I visited here. However, my daughter loves their spring rolls.

Having used quite a few different Chinese takeaways in Nuneaton Golden Star are definitely the best. It sometimes takes longer for them to deliver the food than expected but the quality and the taste of their food is fantastic. Always get free prawn crackers and sometimes a couple of free fortune cookies too!! Even tho we live quite a way out of town we will always use golden star.

Normally had a lovely takeaway from here but must of changed hands as tonight it was digusting !!! It was cold and bland never again !!!!

Waited 2 and half hours for delivery

Foods ok just hit and miss at times with it.

Not impressed at all. The Crispy Duck came without veg or hoi sin sauce as advertised. The Kung Po Chicken was just chicken in a pink gloop. Took an hour and twenty minutes to arrive and the bloke that delivered looked pi**ed as a fart.

Better than your average take away, but certainly not fine dining. Best Chinese take away in town

Well it's not really a bad little Chinese takeaway to be fare the lady that answers the fone could to with manners but apart from that all round impressed with the standard of food,🙂
