First time ordering here as usual place was closed , all was very good and will now be ordering here again in the future

Been with Chinese 40 years very disappointed of how long it took to deliver order at 4.15 got it 6.20 but food was amazing can’t f

Decent Chineae, plenty of veggie options (more than most) and was all tasty.

not had chinese from this place for while, i did order an it was lovely the portion size is big enough 👌

Great food & rice (or chips) included with most mains makes it very reasonably priced. Doesnt disappoint and you're able to customise your dish ( no onions etc ). Quality clean food.

hasn't been delivered even though the app says it has. it has currently been 1 hour and 30 mins since I placed the order. will not be using again!

Food is lovely but waited almost 90 minutes for it. I’ll be prepared for the wait next time

He usado esta comida para llevar durante 20 años y durante gran parte de este tiempo la comida estaba muy buena, sin embargo, no se puede decir lo mismo ahora, el curry que pedimos era soso sin sabor real, la chuleta estaba seca e insípida con pavo en lugar de pollo y todo lo que pides está lleno de ingredientes baratos zanahorias, cebollas y guisantes. Actualmente estamos buscando una alternativa diferente.

Ordered two meals from here tonight rang up at 16.59 no food so rang back at 18.10 to be told we are busy you can wait from one hour to one hour and 30 minutes I said this should have been mentioned when ordering was also told your food is just leaving the shop we got our food at 18.20 my wife's beef curry was ok but my sweet and sour chicken was terrible I got 8 chicken pieces and only 4of them was edible the other 4 was rock hard which got binned as we have 4 takeaways round corner from us maybe we should have used one of them we will do next time would I recommend NO will I use again NO.

Had the sweet and sour Chicken hong kong style. Sauce was a little watery for me. There wasn't much onions, peppers and pineapple. I found the rice hard.

This place has been a cornerstone to the area for over fourty years. I remember going there with my parents as a small child and I’m in my fourties now! Whilst it’s not been the same since Peter retired it is still a great takeaway with lots of options and great tasting food. Prices have risen a lot over the last five or six years but that’s no different to anywhere else. Overall a great place for a fantastic Chinese take out.

Ordered for 15 and all great food!

Food was okay, nothing special to it though. The gravy had no taste at all and chicken balls were pretty bland too. Special friend rice was nice though.

Pasaba por aquí y simplemente me apetecía algo diferente, no he estado aquí por mucho tiempo y en ese entonces era un chino realmente agradable tomar camino bien me temo que ahora tristemente voy a darle una falta de ahora en adelante, la comida era sosa, seca, y el arroz parecía que se había cocinado hace horas. Estaba muy decepcionado.

Steak liver sausages really cold and chips and gravy was really cold not as nice as it used to be to be

One of the best Chinese takeaway I have ever eaten in my life. The service was very helpful and nice and the food was ready in only 10 minutes. The servings are really big and although I am the only woman in my family (5 males) we didn't manage to eat everything in one go. Definitely worth of trying and although my first time there definitely I will be a permanent customer from now on!!!

The chicken in our meal wasn't particularly nice. The bean sprouts weren't crunchy, noodles were fine. I've never seen peas in a chow mein before but they were very undercooked. It was delivered right at the end of the time frame, the only positive is that the food was packaged very well and the driver was so polite and friendly.

Lovely staff, very polite, always arrives fresh and piping hot. Our go to Chinese food restaurant.

Gorgeous, tasty hot fresh food as always from here delivered by the happy, smiley driver who is always so cheerful and chatty. Sorry to hear he will be leaving you but wish him all the very best with his new ventures and wish him luck. I am sure he will be missed by all of your customers .

I have used Golden Star for many years the food is excellent and the service is very quick waiting time is very short. Still amazing food and service years later

Spent £45 with delivery waited 45 minutes. Food came rice cold very bland, small portions. Now wondering if I'm gonna get food poisoning and I'm not the only one. Won't ever order again plus no free prawn crackers.

We just recieved our order. Sweet and sour pork hk style, prawn toast, special fried rice and curry and chips. This meal was piping hot and each element was cooked well. It was full of flavour and we all enjoyed it. I hope this standard is kept up. Thank you.5 stars.

Just had the egg fried rice chips curry sauce and veg spring rolls all re fried ,, the girl said it was freshly cooked ,not a chance I know when things are re fried , used to be lovely , won't return

Food was nice a d hot but order was wrong. I was given 2 curry sauces instead of 2 chips. Delivery time was quite lenghly.

Ordered bbq ribs - only to receive ribs in what I can only describe as a curry and gravy mix. Ate it because it wasn’t bad but regarding the price we paid it just wasn’t worth it. Didn’t realise until we had gotten back to ours and couldn’t be bothered to go and complain. Expected bbq and there wasn’t a hit of it in sight. The boiled rice we got was clumped together like it had been cooked the day before. Service was less than standard - they wasn’t busy with only one other customer in and yet seemed to want us gone - no smile no greeting just what having and the amount it cost - not even asking if I wanted something else. Wildly over priced only came here because my usual place was shut. Don’t think we’ll be returning.

Honestly the best Chinese I’ve had. Got the chicken with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts with rice, with S&P chips and curry sauce. 100% amazing

Previously posted how good it was here . However, seems like it's losing its way quality wise . Last couple of times I've been served what seems like reheated chips . Not a great way to look after customers .

Hate it when I fancy a Chinese and Star is offline, their popularity and capacity is there only downside. The food is outstanding every single time. Won't eat Chinese food anywhere else.

Just had the worst crispy beef in Cantonese sauce ever, the beef was incredible the so hard and over cooked and there was no taste to the sauce what so ever, don’t know how it can vary so much from one week to another. It’s never been good since Pete left but tonight it was really dreadful

Our usual Chinese, for some reason, was closed, so we used Golden Star instead. We thought it was quite expensive compared to our usual. Starters were lovely and very nice. Main courses were ok, the meat was cut up very small for some reason. Overall ok but not blown away. For spending nearly £100, they gave us 2 x free bags of prawn crackers, which we thought was a bit tight and could have offered a little something more. 😫

Delivered nearly half hour late, which, considering they're only round the corner, was disappointing. That said, the food was still hot, plentiful, and very tasty. Don't know if I'll order from here very often though as they are a lot more expensive than my usual Chinese (I paid nearly 40 quid for what usually costs me 25, & it didn't even come with free prawn crackers, which I usually get)

First time purchasing from this restaurant and we were all blown away on how delicious and the portion size were fab. The staff were extremely friendly and kind.

The girl was friendly but I was not impressed. I am vegetarian, I asked for vegetable spring rolls and inside there was prawn and what I assume was (but hope wasn’t) meat. We won’t be returning.

Use to be a nice Chinese takeaway but think they have changed owners! Me & my family ordered chicken fried rice & duck fried rice & it was rank, the fried rice was like glue!! Will not be going back after using this chinese for a fair few years!

Late ....... spent £36 on food then they put 20p for a bag 40p charge for card payment and £3:80 delivery........ and I never even got free bag off prawn crackers....... getting so greedy and expensive now so time to stay away now...... sorry Pete been going to u for years but now I'm cannot keep up with your prices anymore....... ridiculous 😡😡😡

Haven't had golden star in years and il be honest it's not like it used to be food came warm but to be honest wasn't that tasty.

Amazing food and service including delivery as always. I ordered from here as a belated birthday meal and it was well worth it. Food has always been very very nice.

Sweet and Sour mixed balls were over cooked and too hard, Prawn toast was greasey, Beef fried rice was perfectly cooked.

Best food and delivery guy is too.. try them if you haven’t already… you won’t be disappointed
