Got the full order wrong yet charged us for it! Lady on the phone isn't very polite either

Ordered a takeaway tonight, soon as I open it there’s a black hair right over the chips. Won’t be eating it or going back again

I work away from home and working in hull looking for a good Chinese I got special peking it was unreal proper old school chips and fried rice this is my place now

Moved out of the area for a lot of years prior to moving I used to use mayflower so I thought I'd give it a go, disappointed to say the least ,I collected my order only to find when I got home half of my order wasn't there, after a prompt phone call I was assured the missing food would be sent to me straight away 45mins later it arrived by this time my wife had pretty much got past wanting her food ! She hardly touched it , it was a bit of a celebratory tea and although she never said anything it quite spoiled the night Doubt very much I'll be going back

Ordered a start box...chicken wings raw. Rung and all we got was ill sead the boss to look I know how to cook chicken used these for years cats didn't entertain it aswell. Never ordering again

Lately ive been ringing with no answer. Has mayflower closed down? Can anyone confirm? Online says open. Phone just rings forever. Best Chinese in Hull. I've been going 22 years. Food tastes great. Food has always arrived hot. Everything tasted as it should. Lovely staff. As for other reviews of lower stars, ive personally never had a problem. Be going for another 22 years lol. Added 2022 menu. (Subject to change).

The food is great. But they never answer the phone! 4 times we have tried to use you and it just rings and rings..... Sometimes we ring you and we get a dial tone like we are trying to connect to 90s Internet! Such a shame as it is nice food

Never again! Ordered 2 beef chow meins & 2 spring rolls. Quick delivery & still hot but had a strange fragrance & taste to it, especially the spring rolls. Beef was an odd colour & chewy. Sauce/gravy was still jellified & the prawn crackers were stale. Didn't eat & won't return.

Ordered kung po chicken, which nothing like it ? Had olives in no chilli at all, the sauce was more a light gravy, seems like it was made with what was left and not the correct ingredients in?, why put olives in a Chinese this was awful, put me off completely I threw away, really disappointed as I’ve ordered in the past and had always been what I expected, what’s happened?

If we have a takeaway, we always use Mayflower as we enjoy there food. I was a little bit disappointed today as we ordered beef tomato and when we opened it. The dish was chicken tomato, although the number of the menu written on the receipt was for beef. Never had any problems before 😕

Awful food, got the munchy box, sea weed soggy..ribs no meat hardly and tasted awful..all the rest bland... Singapore chowmein and special fried rice just full of cheap chopped meat, won't be going back there

Waited 45 minutes on Christmas Eve expected it to be busy but absolute chaos. Ended up with wrong order and prawn found in mushrooms and rice won't be going again

The mayflower Chinese is my go-to Chinese takeaway. The food in my opinion is of a high standard and better than some of the other local Chinese takeaways. I have sometimes used the delivery service and the food has always arrived in the time stated and always been exactly as ordered.

I’ve used this takeaway for years after tonight I won’t be going there ever again the last 3 times I’ve ordered food from there it’s been wrong and for I think the owner to come on the phone and literally start arguing with me I strictly cannot be arsed there’s plenty of other places I can go to the place is a joke, wouldn’t mind the second time they got it wrong they new it straight away and thought it was funny

Very good Chinese food never dissapointed tasty varied menu

Food is amazing, the king prawns are to die for! Beautiful white flesh with no grit. No shrimps here. Also main meal dishes include chips or rice, making it very good value. Delivery has improved, was very quick. The lady Is not rude, but speaks very quickly. Go into the shop, she will give you a smile to great you. Very professional and welcoming. Also the chips....... fresh in the shop, wow!

I'm ready for another feast from my favourite takeaway. My wife and I love the food here. We come back again and again. Recommended

Lucky it’s a one star review because I’d have given it 0 if I could! Absolutely disgusting! Eggs was grey/black the chips was absolutely solid and the rice may as well have just been sent in the original packaging! Absolutely shocking wouldn’t refund it and wanted to poison me with even more of their disgusting food! Over my dead body would I ever eat here again absolutely disgusting and being reported to health and safety!

Ordered food at 8pm still didnt arrive at 9.10pm made a phone call to see where it was couldn't find address then re did the food for second delivery still didnt get here at 10pm didnt trust them.

I have used this place many off times and always enjoyed my food but these last couple off visits haven't been the same. Beef very chewy, chips hard and not cooked properly, curry sauce like water and the food not very tasty and more. Am afraid I will not be wasting anymore money on this place anymore as the food is disgusting.

We have used this lovely friendly Chinese for over 20 years, and even travel quite a distance as it used to be much better than our local ones. Unfortunately,recently ,the food has been terrible. We tried another couple times in case it was a one off, unfortunately it wasn’t. The staff haven’t changed so we can’t understand what has gone wrong.

Worst chinese we have ever had...won't be using this place again... Special fried rice dry and cold, Beef chow mein and special chop suey really bland. Portion of chips ok. Curry sauce was like flavoured water.

Shocking food tonight...duck was all fat, ribs were just fat, no meat at all. For £9.50 per quarter duck! Also prawn crackers soggy, did not taste crisp and fresh at all 😩

Over priced compared to other local Chinese takeaway's example, 1 bag of chips and a carton of gravy £4:10 pence . I can get a chicken chow mein and a carton of curry for £3:80 pence what a joke I will not be going back even though I could not fault the gravy and chips

Hong Kong style sweet and sour chicken and fried rice ordered. Bearly any sauce in the sweet and sour, chicken was over cooked extremely dry.

Meal was excellent just a long wait

Used this place weekly until the order never arrived, waiting over 2 hours to be told it won't be coming at all...Very very poor service

It's been over 16 years since I last went to the Mayflower and while back in Hull for a couple of days decided to see if it was still as good. I have to say it was excellent and even better than I remember. Good varied and competitively priced menu, very quick service and of course most importantly, quality tasty meals. If only they delivered 250 miles away :-)

Absolutely disgusting food went in the bin after arriving late and cold I was refused a refund 42 pound wasted Will not order again disgusted in customer relations

First there were items missing, then the prawns still had bits of shells and tails on, the veg did not taste fresh and the dish was so hot when it arrived I burnt my mouth. Clearly just frozen food which has been quickly microwaved, waste of money

Usually a nice Chinese never have a problem food always comes hot then tonight I ordered noodles with gravy when eating it I has some sort of thin and bendy metal in them stuck in my gum when rang them the boss came out and said ut was something to do with saving the beansprouts its not the forst time this has happened I definitely won't be ordering this could of been one of my kids who eat this

Ordered tonight. Some of my food was missing when the order arrived and then when i called they told me I hadn't ordered it and that id have to pay again for the bits that was missing. I asked to speak with manager and they refused to speak to me and told me I was wrong and that they didn't want to discuss it. I've never had a problem with this Chinese and we really enjoy the food but I expect to get the food I paid for. Really disappointed with the service and the lady on the phone.

Ordered my usual which I get from another supplier 😁 anyway the hot and sour soup was well worth the total as it was a main in itself. Great tasting quisine and all the veg are crispy fresh. Went down too quickly for a pic.. 👌

Ordered and paid over the telephone, over an hour later called to ask if there was a problem, was advised driver had gone to wrong address, I confirmed my address and was advised he was on his way.... Quarter an hour later the driver called me from outside a neighbour's to ask where I lived, I confirmed my address again and he was at my door moments later.. The reason he went to the wrong address was simply because the address was wrong on the label and the reason he hadn't rang me after the first failed delivery was because no one on earth would have been able to read the number written on the delivery ticket.. Dinner which contained chicken was barely warm when I opened it so it had to go in the bin... An hour and a half £15.20 and no dinner...... I normally get excellent, friendly, prompt service when I collect it myself however I will no longer use or recommend Mayflower Holderness road .... Very disappointed ( added photo )

Ordered 3 portions of pepper & chilli chips @ £2.50 each, 2 portions chicken skewers @ £5.00 each 1 curry sauce @ £1.90 Delivery @ £1.30 That to me is £20.70. They tried to charge me £28.90 at my door. The driver rang the shop and they said it was £23.90 even though the receipt stated ,£28.90. The chips were cold and the chicken skewers were just mush and inedible. What a rip off. NEVER AGAIN. STAY AWAY from this place. Disgusting service and disgusting food.

Deep fried chilly beef tasted like bolognisa, and chips with extra curry sauce no extra curry sauce.

Absolutely joke of a takeaway! Ordered a beef curry and chips at just gone 4pm and it got delivered at arpund 6:30pm and was stone cold. Called them and kept getting told they was bringing a new order for us! Its now 9:45pm and we got told this takeaway was closed. So my granddaughter called and asked if delivery was available and they was going to let her order until she mentioned my order where we was then told again my food was getting prepared again after over 5 hours we're still waiting! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! RUDE STAFF AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I ordered from this restaurant at 8.05 , I was given no delivery time , but as it was fairly early thought an hour or so would be reasonable, after an hour and half , I rang to ask how long it would be ,I was told it was on its way!, after a further 30 minutes I rang again as I live approximately 5 minutes way. I was then told they had just found my order and would cook it now!! , I cancelled my order .If you want to wait two hours and receive no food and be lied to , then order from this this takeaway now !!

This was the worst i have ever had no flavour the beef was of low standard I recommend that environmentally health visit the premises to see if the products meat British standards

Have used this Chinese for a few years and have never been disappointed. A little pricier than others but better quality ingredients and always fresh. My favourites are the King Prawn Foo Yung and Spare ribs. Nice Spring Rolls too. Recommended.

Needs to get people who can understand a phone order. Its such a shame because the food is lovely once the correct order has arrived. Its happened too many times now. Even got called back for an correct address.

There is nothing else to say except it's the best chines in Hull. I would definitely recommend the egg fried rice, chicken balls, chips and curry sauce.

We get our Chinese from here all the time,very tasty,and you get lots for your money,king prawn curry my favorite,hubby likes the beef and mushrooms,excellent delivery service,and great staff polite when you ring orders through very helpful too thank you

We had friends around and ordered The order was over 60 pound After waiting an hour and 45 minutes the food finally arrived Surprise surprise it was cold We phoned the shop after a debate with them refusing to do anything they finally sent another order out On its arrival not only was there food missing from the order , but again barely warm So after ringing again they refused point blank to do anything or refund the money absolutely disgusted would not recomend to anyone

Well worth a visit. Placed an order to be delivered at a specific time as a treat for family. The order came precisely on time, Very hot and extremely tasty. The portion sizes were very ample and the chips were "proper chips" not fries.

Just collected King Prawn Tomato and Chicken Chow Mien- very disappointing both totally tasteless most has gone in the bin

Just ordered. Most.bland tasting chinese i ever had. This place has gone down the swanny. Thank god our chop suey came with rice and our side order of prawn crackers!! Avoid! Wish id ordered the pizza my other half wanted.

Ordered at 11:50 for collection they explained they closed at 12 so I’d have to be quick but they’d wait for me showed up at 11:58 and they watched me park and then got in their cars and drove off, great customer service

Just had a chicken chow mein from here... what can i say, if anyone says this is nice then they have no idea what good food tastes like!!:ive given it 1 * just for the fact it was still hot!! Chicken was tough, tasted blande, runny as hell, never had bean sprouts in a chow mein before! No colour , i could go on but to be fair its not worth the text!! Absolutely disgusting!!

Made an order at 11.40, order was confirmed, got to 00:19 and it still had not come, and i thought they closed at 12, checked on the net and it said they closed at 00.30. Tried calling got no answer, food never came! No phone call to say order cancelled, just left us waiting !

Thought we would have a treat ..we got a delivery and when it arrived not impressed absoultly crap..seemed like left overs from night before dryed up special dryer rice ..square pieces of meat seemed like luncheon meat or something shocking..shiverld up chips ...prawn crackers off colour like stayle..dont think I was use again went in bin ..dont know how they have the nerve to sell to people ..utter crap!!

Been visiting Mayflower for msny years and it's always very very good.

£20 is a great price for the amount of food we ordered. And the food was really good and done in no time! However the chips are bit rubbish.

I used to use the Chinese all the time years ago, then it turned so bad I could not use it. However, a friend uses these and ordered from them a few weeks back and the food was just how it used to be and I really enjoyed it! My complaint is though, they seem to be more expensive than other local Chinese’s, For example, I made an order for chicken balls, x2 gravy and chips, egg fried rice and noddles, this came up to £17! I couldn’t believe it. So I asked to have the gravy chips rice and noddles shared into mini dishes... it still came out at £15. For this reason I will not be using them as the Chinese I use (gorgeous food) is much cheaper. My review is based on the food though, and it seems mayflower is good again.

First visit and last...beef in chili...what chili and we asked for it hot.... Chicken szechaun ..chicken like rubber ..inedible...sauce tasteless....fried rice greasy....chips so soggy and greasy ...verdict...put straight in the bin... Cheers...
