Golden Regency in North East Lincolnshire

Information…! Ordered here before so decided to order again… Had a large order to call through for delivery (£50+) no one answered… kept calling and eventually someone picked up, but then put the phone down… which happened a few times…states everywhere it was supposed to be open, even their own website…!!!! won’t be ordering again..!

Announcing that we intend to come over for dinner a day later, we asked for a menu. this was handed to us, however this turned out to be a take away menu. A day later we arrived and knew what we wanted. We were given a menu that was remarkably the same part from the pricing. The set menu for the take away menu is priced for the meal, however on the dine-in menu (set menu for two) you pay per person, making it double the price. A rather neat trick that has been skilfully practiced before. At the time of the order, the maitrede points out clearly that this is per person, but it's too late as you have settled in. Download both the menu's and look at the set menu sections..

Staff very nice and friendly, good generous tasty portions but a bit salty for my taste but not for my husbands. However big cobwebs in the corner of the restaurant where we were sat and the toilets could do with a bit more attention to cleanliness.

Took my family here for a special occasion based on the reviews. First impression, restaurant was very dated, but staff very friendly. I am a business women myself and will do everything I can to support other businesses especially in this present climate. I wish I had gone for a takeaway or even cooked a stir fry myself. This has to be the worst Chinese meal I’ve ever had and to top it all the wine was cheap but cost £18.95 for a bottle and the lemonade we were given were in cans from ASDA. Went to the toilet and it was filthy!! Then I got the bill!! £108 for food that was served in containers lined with silver foil, is this to save on washing up? I hate giving a bad review but if it is warranted I don’t want others to feel the disappointment and embarrassment I felt having booked this and hoping this was going to be special for my family.

It was difficult to find this restaurant as it is just a small restaurant front but we’ll worth the effort! Inside it is a real old fashioned Chinese and I felt like I’d gone back 30 years, it was quaint! We were made to feel very welcome after having our temperature taken. The food was absolutely delicious. Freshly cooked and hot and tasty! Would recommend this place

We went at short notice a group of eight . The owner very welcoming and chatty. Food amazing. Massive portions all freshly cooked, king prawns and salt and pepper chicken was amazing. Would recommend. The price is fantastic for the amount of food!

We came here with high expectations as it is voted 4th out of 24 in Grimsby. The restaurant is very dated and quiet. However, the man serving was very friendly and attentive but unfortunately this was the only positive. The meal was very very average (or below). Very salty and the ribs were quite fatty. In general we were disappointed with the value and quality of the food - not worth the money so we didn’t tip. And no free prawn crackers!!!

Fantastic authentic food and friendly service. My family and I came to this lovely restaurant twice in 2 days during our visit here in the Lincolnshire area!! We are originally from Hong Kong so we know good Chinese food- we really enjoyed the delicious dimsum and especially loved the beef brisket noodle soup and the glutinous rice ball dessert. Thank you for the fresh tasting food and wonderful service!!

We are English couple , so there are no racism. If you had chosen the the promotion menu you would have been charged the same as us. It was your choice which menu you chose. The menu’s are clearly displayed outside and inside the restaurant.

Drawn in by the special lunch time offer. Presented with menu and selected food. Later noticed Chinese couple sat down and presented with different menu. When bill arrived realised I had been given more expensive menu. Discussed with manager who as to why I had been charged given different menu from Chinese people, was told that they they were "regulars". Food was Ok but those that know me, know that I cant abide RACISM in any form so I wont be going back.

We ordered a takeaway for the first time, and my wife and I loved it, super fast delivery even to Waltham and great value. The takeaway food was not only great but to a very good restaurant standard, so much so we will certainly try the restaurant in the future. And it has now become the only Chinese takeaway we will use, as we have struggled to fine somewhere that was of such good quality!! Really can’t recommend it enough if our first experience is anything to go by.

I am restaurant owner for multiple sites in UK, it is the best Chinese restaurant for me in UK. I really like their curry sauce, its the best.

Ordered a take away on first instinct the service was appalling! Unfriendly and very rude! After asking for a second carrier bag to walk home with so the food didn't get cold by the reaction of the lady who begrudgingly gave us a bag you would have assumed I'd poked her in the eye! After that ordeal on returning home eagerly awaiting our "treat" for the week we found the chips were definitely not second generation chips from the night before but I'd happily say third generation at best the mushroom omelette was infact a tub of peas with a under cooked egg thrown in for good measure the BBQ sauce had clearly been bought from Tesco emptied out had vinegar added and warmed through it was disgusting the chow mein inedable as I'm sure you can begin to understand we was less than impressed with the standard of food having spent the best part of £20 we decided we would ring and ask for a refund the owner of the restaurants response was rude and arrogant however! he did say if we brought it back we could have a refund! After only eating a single inedable dumpling and two king prawns you would think it would be reasonable to not debate the fact however after a 20 min ordeal of the owner taking photos of the food and arguing Infront of other customers did he eventually agree to refund us now I could completely understand had we have eaten a vast majority of the meal but literally not even 3% had passed our mouths due to it being vile the owner then proceeded to bar myself from ever returning (absolutely fine on our part) I'll certainly will never be eating here and all I can hope is other people don't have the same ordeal as we did..... Vile!

We ate here on Sunday 4th August, the food was excellent and very reasonable prices. The service was first class, with very friendly owner. Would recommend this restaurant.

A group of 12 of us went out for a work friends birthday meal, we have ordered a large takeaway before at Christmas so we knew the food would be lovely. We preordered our food and I have to say it was delicious. Every single person commented how lovely and fresh everything tasted and how much of a hidden gem this restaurant isThe owner Joseph could not have been more helpful and was chatty and friendly. Would certainly recommend to anyone who likes lovely Chinese food

I took my Chinese wife here and she felt right at home. The owner cooked authentic Chinese dishes rather than the westernised ones you usually find. He was even able to make special Chinese dishes which my wife requested. Spot on.

I have been going to this place for years! Sometimes with friends, and sometimes on my own and it never has failed me. The food is always so delicious and there’s a comfortable atmosphere. I’d recommend the black pepper sizzling fillet any day but they serve a wide variety of dishes that are all just equally good.

On first impressions, given other Chinese options in the area, you would.probbaly leave the moment you walked in. The restaurant is tired, feels grubby and dated. The carpets need to be changed, the plastic table covers are sticky and unimpressive, BUT, not being here for the interior design and soft furnishings!... I must review my experience!The food is tasty, I dontnagree with the reviews saying it is bland. I had chicken & sweetcorn soup to start and. Cantonese rolls. Clearly freshly microwaved soup and deep fried crispy rolls, but atill, it was tasty and completely acceptable. Then I chose the Sizzling chicken, ginger and spring onion with egg fried rice. For a Chinese, the rice was appalling. Once again microwaved and more like a sticky rice, definitely not fluffy!The chicken dish was tasty and portion size was good. There was plenty of chicken it it and it was piping hot. The manager was polite, patient and did his job in welcoming me as I entered. Overall, I would come back again, but only because there isn't another sit in Chinese within a local walk.The potential is there for this to be a great place, need to invest in refreshing the decor and getting rid of the carpet, before it walks out by itself!

read some good reviews so decided to try it , some peoples standards are obviously lower than ours .the interior is scruffy the toilets dirty the food although nice and hot was bland and the curry sauce was like water i was really hungry so we ate it but overall it was dissapointing it cost thirty quid i could have spent half as much at weatherspoons and been happy .my wife says my chinese is better so i will stick to cooking it my self in future .i didnt leave a tip and told the owner i wasnt after he asked me if i wanted to ,no chance of that matey.

The owner was friendly and helpful, the place needs renovated. The prawn crackers were awful didn't taste of prawn and the tofu you could bounce off the wall. The fried rice was overcooked. Sweet n sour was ok and the soft noodles made up for the rest.

Visited Grimsby for business. Although a little tired inside the restaurant the food was really very, very good. I have been to China and Hong Kong on more than one occasion and would say the food is comparable. Well cooked, reasonably priced. Friendly host though out.

On entering we could see the place really could do with a tidy up and a lick of paint. The host was friendly and was willing to make anything we wanted. We settled for the mixed starter, prawn crackers and spring rolls for the 4 of us. These were hot, tasty and we didn’t have to wait long. For main we shared chicken fried rice, scallops with veg (really nice), sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, boiled rice and crispy noodles (not nice). Overall we enjoyed the food but the restaurant was a bit cold and untidy.... Not a bad price, unlikely we’ll return.

Well, I have read the other recent reviews and can only say we experienced nothing like this. At £6.99 for 2 courses (until 5pm - £7.99 after this), we knew what we were going to get and we didn't have to wait long until served. Also ordered green tea for 2. I chose chicken satay (sauce thinner than I usually have) for starter and beef in oyster sauce for main which included one side - fried rice for me. He had ribs in honey sauce and then sweet/sour pork with rice, and we were both happy and satisfied with our meal. There were plenty of choices on this cheap menu, and for the price we were happy with both the meal and the service. Had some laughs with the owner and another couple at an adjoining table.

Vimos un cartel fuera con una oferta especial y decidimos que nos iríamos y comer aquí. Nos obsequiaron con un menú, y supondrá la oferta se refería a los platos principales. Nos sentamos y comimos nuestra comida, a pesar de ser algo frío y el pollo sabía muy aguado, y cuando llegó la factura, nos planteó una controversia con respecto a la oferta en la ventana (dos campos por 7.50 libras). El propietario inmediatamente convertido contra nosotros y se convirtió en agresivo antes compró durante un segundo menú que no habían dado o dijeron antes de este momento. Me quejé y dijo que debía haber avisado que este segundo menú porque eso era todo el punto de nuestra visita. Después de elevar una queja, en realidad fuimos a la medida de cerrar las puertas de nosotros y llamar a la policía, que se negó a asistir. Continuamos a argumentar nuestro punto, y el dueño empezaron a tirar su máquina de tarjeta y la factura en una mesa vacía, tocar más ornamentos en el proceso. Después de mucho discutir con el propietario y su esposa, estuvo de acuerdo en liquidar la cuenta de la cantidad correcta, pero era ser arreglado y hablando con su esposa en chino sobre mi pareja y yo. Él estaba haciendo comentarios groseros y ofensivos sobre nosotros y diciendo que eran horribles personas y no se merecen estar en su restaurante. Para concluir, la comida era "aceptable" de alta calidad, sin duda, nada especial, pero el servicio era absolutamente terrible, inaceptable desde un establecimiento profesional.

Booked a table for 2 adults and 1 child for Saturday evening 8.30pm yesterday, we walked into what we thought would be a small busy cosy restaurant to find an empty freezing cold one where we had to wear our coats. We were shown to a table by the owner who was wearing a thick padded gilet. We ordered drinks whilst looking through the menu, the Vodka I ordered which was supposed to be Smirnoff tasted nothing like a cheap vodka never mind the branded one! The owner said it was because of the Diet Coke(in a can). We ordered our food and whilst waiting we asked the owner if the heating was on as it was very cold, to which he said it was on the maximum temperature 28 degrees and promptly walked off ignoring us. Within minutes he returned with some dishes, we started to serve them and then discovered that the beef chow mein and roast pork curry were stone cold, we mentioned this to the owner which he tasted and said it was only warm, he said he would go and re heat them (whilst muttering to himself and huffing and puffing) I decided to go to the toilet while we waited, OMG it was absolutely filthy. On my return to the table my partner was talking to the owner, all of a sudden the owner turned on us and said since you came in you've complained about it being cold, about getting the wrong drink and your meals being cold. My partner said to him when you go out to a restaurant you expect to receive a good experience, the owner totally dismissed what we were trying to explain and we ended up with no food, paying him £10 for our drinks and leaving. We were absolutely disgusted by his attitude, no wonder it was empty, dirty and cold. This man doesn't deserve decent customers or their money. We could have gone anywhere but after reading the previous reviews we wanted to give it a try, what a massive mistake!

Had a fairly standard chinese meal with rice (ginger beef and sweet and sour chicken). Everything tasted fresh and the food was good quality without being amazing. Owner is very welcoming and talkative!

Qué joya de lugar, superar cualquier chino que hemos comido en, la comida era excelente, auténtica y el servicio igualada. Fue un ambiente acogedor y relajante.

Mi esposa quería ir a un restaurante chino en Grimsby para una cena de cumpleaños, sin embargo en el registro encontramos las opciones para ser muy limitado, pero decidimos ir a Golden Regency que no habíamos visitado durante varios años. Qué buena elección resultó ser. Pequeño restaurante, pero el servicio de los propietarios fue de primera y la segunda opción menú a ser amplia y variada. La comida estaba muy bien presentada y caliente. Lo recomendaría este lugar.

Buena relación calidad-precio. Dos platos por £6.50 antes de las 5 pm. Buena comida china sana. Mejor descrito como barato y alegre. No estoy seguro de que hubiera sido feliz pagar los precios del menú de la cena, basada en la calidad de la comida que se sirve durante el día. Vale la pena una visita antes de las 5 pm. El servicio era bueno.

Una cosa que tengo que decir que, si fuera, no es muy acogedor. Busca en los informes sobre la comida, pensé que me gustaría probarlo. solíamos ir a otro restaurante chino en Grimsby, pero que ha caído en picado.

What a great wee place. Visited last night for my birthday (was staying in Grimsby over Christmas). Food was great, especially the spicy mixed curry (loved it!) but what made the evening were the lovely owner & his son who were manning the decks last night. Father joked that his son was home from London for Christmas & he put him to work straight away! Service was friendly & personable. It's what makes all the difference in my opinion from a good experience to a great experience. Really enjoyed my evening, and you know what, the horrible things I've read about Grimsby online, not a single one is true - I found everyone to be nothing other than pleasant & friendly.Thank you again for my birthday packet of green tea - will be part of my New Years diet! Haha!Would heartily recommend the Golden Regency if you're ever in Grimsby.

Had lunch there with my family, very nice people, even showed us the upstairs restaurant and facilities he offered, can not fault the food and service, exceptional, very clean establishment

Struggled to find a Chinese restaurant in Grimsby town and finally came across the golden regency.From the outside I was a little daunted however plumped to go in.Was pleasantly surprised...We had one of the set menus for two and changed two dishes - no issue at all for the restaurant unlike some.Appetisers were standard fare - ribs, seaweed, pancake rolls, prawn toast and some delicious little won tons.Followed by some aromatic duck. Again delicious but would've been nicer if more crispy skin.Then for main a chicken curry, crispy beef and Kung po king prawn which wasn't on the menu but asked if they could make it and they did.Chicken curry looked like a normal Chinese one but was actually a little spicy. Turns out it was a Mauritian chicken curry. The beef was absolutely to die for. It looked a little dry but in fact was perfect and lovely and crispy instead of sticky which you often find.The only let down was the prawn crackers which were the thin variety and not very tasty.Will definitely return the next time in Grimsby.To make it better still, the host / patron / waiter was fantastic and nothing was too much.

The food here is lovely, been here quite a few times. All food cooked fresh and on the spot. Really nice owner, value for money, plenty to eat. Definatly go back.
