Golden Pheasant at Auchinloch in North Lanarkshire

Last minute decision to go out for a local family dinner, thought we would try the pheasant as not been in for a good while. Very quiet when arrived, no one to greet us, just sat down, taken a bit of time before acknowledgment, then menus giving, no explanation of menu, ideas of dishes etc, the place has no atmosphere, some raving music playing from open kitchen window, Anyways ordered drinks, ‘ main course, waiter was nice enough, brought all 4 meals out one by one, steam dish came out with fries at the bottom and a lump of very thin steak, with loads of sauce & onions, looked like something you would serve a dog, not great presentation for the price, asked for it to be well done, burnt, it was pink inside, waiter was lovely not his fault, he told the chef, the chef was very abrupt manner to the waiter saying it’s a thin steak, canny burn it, that’s the way it is? So as we were the only family in the restaurant we heard the whole conversation, the chef was annoyed and not nice to his colleague, Waiter kept apologising, which we states it wasn’t his fault, asked if we wanted another meal free of charge, by the time this 2nd meal came all 3 of us had finished, we ordered desserts so we were all eating together. Bill came we got charged, and they gave us 4 soft drinks free of charge. The waiter was very nervous and I just paid and left, didn’t want to cause a fuss, the food was ok not great, service slow, as there was only 3 tables in and we were the only table there for the last hour/bit, chef rude , as didn’t care about the customer, leaving the waiter to deal with us, which was a shame, not a nice atmosphere , we never enjoyed as it was so quiet, no atmospheric and the chef obviously wanted home. Disappointed as not been for a while and will re think about going back, menu not a good selection to pick from, maybe lunch is better, unsure.

The first thing you see when you walk through the door was the poor fish in the disgusting filthy tank, if you can't keep it clean I will happily rehome it in a lovely tank with lots of friends.

We had a lovely lunch at the Golden Pheasant. Food was well presented and tasty. The staff were attentive and polite, and made you feel really welcome. Looking forward to coming back.

We took my mother in law there for lunch as she is thinking of having her birthday lunch there. We were not disappointed as the food was amazing and the portions are really good especially as it was a lunchtime set menu. We will definitely be coming back and also recommending to our friends and family.

Went to the Pheasant last Saturday night for dinner with my wife. we shared a starter of the salt and chilli goujons very tasty. I had the fish and chips my wife had Mac & Cheese both excellent, great service served with a smile. I was so impressed went back again on Thursday with family we all had something different again great service and food at reasonable prices.

A Thursday lunchtime " wee treat" ...and it was very tasty. Two courses for £13.95 for TT got good lentil soup ( and a warm roll and buttet) then the litmus test fish and chips also very good. Others in our party ate steak pie (smaller portion which was nonetheless pretty plenty and pronounced very good) and a macaroni cheese with chips. Chips are good and chunky..just as TT likes. The Guinness was very well kept. Very pleasant server. All in all a very nice visit and we will be back .

Booked a table for 5 for a family lunch. Have to say the service was excellent. The girl serving us could not have been more pleasant, attentive and helpful. The menu had something for everyone and all of our food was delicious. The portions were generous and the food was well presented. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks again guys. The Morrisons.

First vist but won't be the last. Lovely food - big portions - althogh smaller portions are an option. Great choice of good honest British fare with ingredients that don't require a dictionary! Very friendly and informative waitress. Looking forwrard to a return visit perhaps outside when the weather improves!

We had my mum's 80th birthday lunch here with 24 guests and it was amazing! The food and service were exceptional and the price was very reasonable for such a high quality meal. Scott and the staff made our area beautiful with fresh linen and the staff were so attentive and polite. It was a wonderful day and I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to have a wee family get together or to celebrate a special occasion. A HUGE thank you to all the staff at The Golden Pheasant who helped make my mum's day so special!

My friend and I enjoyed a long, unhurried lunch, with excellent service from the friendly staff. We chose two courses from the lunch menu, a prawn cocktail & a haggis pakora for starters, followed by a Caesar salad and a steak pie main course. All of our food was well cooked, attractive and delicious. As the driver, I decided to drink cucumber-flavoured draught tonic water, it arrived in a large gin glass, with ice, cucumber slices and straws. Glorious! and near enough the real thing! We will certainly be back, and would recommend it

we stoped in after a day out with our wee puppy asked if he was allowed in and it was a yes…. but only in the bar area.. football was on so a few people but not to busy…. i ordered the phez burger it did not disappoint it was huge and very tasty….. the wife ordered the mac and cheese she wasn’t to keen on it,the cheese sauce was to runny far to watery service was fine and the price was great not to expensive…

Slow service for a restaurant that did not look busy - had to ask for menus after being seated and waiting ten mins. Took ages for order to be taken . Food not worth the wait, driest burger ever tho chips were good. No atmosphere in the place - I guess it's mostly locals, which we are not. Def would not return .

We came for the quiz night and decided to eat here first. Our server was very friendly and welcoming. The menu is fairly extensive and has a decent variety of choices. All the food looked and tasted fresh. Portion sizes were good. The burger I had was really tasty and the salt & chilli chips were brilliant. Not particularly expensive either. Yes, the decor is maybe a wee bit dated/traditional but it looked and felt clean. Only minor critiscism was that the room felt a bit chilly and they could do with cranking the heating up a bit. This was our first time visiting and we will be back!

Staff lovely, very helpful, polite. Food was delicious except the portion size for standard fish & chips at £10.95 was disappointing. Apart from that, no complaints.

Awful Xmas lunch roast beef tough as old boots veg totally overcooked although portions very generous sorry won’t be doing it next Xmas

2nd visit to restaurant after a previous good meal for three. Had different choices this time around (recommend the Turkey dinner) & again food was good quality, well presented by very nice staff. Interior was clean & well decorated for Xmas with a good atmosphere. Music playing at comfortable level. Great to see restaurant that has not resorted to buying cheap ingredients as so many others have (especially in Ayrshire!!) Will go again and you should try it too!

A good enough meal , Sunday lunch at a reasonable price , place looked a bit tired and in need of refurbishment, but was clean and staff pleasant for a typical pub lunch you won’t be disappointed

The ‘Phez’ is our local ‘go to’ restaurant. We have never had a bad meal. Food is well cooked and presented and staff are attentive and friendly. My steak tonight was delicious and my starter of prawn cocktail was perfect for me- lots of prawns with just the right amount of sauce.

We used to go every Tuesday to the 2 for 1 menu and never had a complaint however we went xmas day for 2nd year in a row and were really disappointed the 2nd year. After complaining they certainly came up trumps and offered us a free meal for the 16 of us on Easter Sunday ( you cant do better than that). Sadly however we were all on lockdown ( cant even manage a freebie lol) went one day when we were passing think it was in June and got a takeaway and it was so disappointing. I had breaded fish which was burnt and you couldn't cut to eat so sadly wont be back. Work too hard for my money I'm afraid.

I was driving by with family in my car and at the last minute decided to pop in for lunch. we had various starters but the stand out was the steak pie which I recommend. Helpful staff. pleasant atmosphere.

Went with a group of friends the other evening and had a very nice meal. We all had a main course, dessert and coffee from the extensive menu. Food was well cooked and presented and the staff were efficient and attentive. Reasonably priced. Would recommend.

Solíamos amar los almuerzos en este restaurante, especialmente el queso macarrones, pero las últimas dos comidas han sido terribles. Llamamos para tratar de reservar una mesa usando el Meerkat 2 por 1 para decirles que están tan ocupados un domingo que ya no aceptan el descuento. Decidimos ir de todos modos, pero solo había otra mesa que servía comida. El queso macarrones era insípido y las patatas fritas estaban poco cocidas y duras. La hamburguesa estaba bien, pero nuevamente las papas fritas estaban poco cocinadas y la comida no tenía ninguna guarnición (ensalada y ensalada de col) como solía. No volveremos.

Mis visitas anteriores han encontrado al personal servicial y amable, de ahí mi regreso. La comida principal fue la peor que he tenido en mucho tiempo. Comí pescado y papas fritas, las papas fritas estaban fritas en el horno y no estaban lo suficientemente cocidas ya que estaban muy bien hechas y muy duras por dentro. Le dije a la encantadora camarera cuando preguntó cómo estaba la comida, pero no se hizo ninguna reducción, aunque no pude hacerlo. t comer las patatas fritas. Mi marido tenía pastel de carne y dijo que estaba bien, pero de nuevo no le gustaron las patatas fritas. A las 9 . 95 cada uno, tanto para el pescado y las patatas fritas como para el pastel de carne, diría que definitivamente no es una buena relación calidad-precio y no volveré corriendo. ,

La peor comida que he tenido aquí! ! ! ! la comida solía ser buena, ambos comimos hamburguesas que eran rosadas en el medio (no descubrimos esto hasta que estábamos a mitad de camino) también obtuvimos un lado de aros de cebolla que se servían en un tazón de sopa y el tazón estaba medio lleno de grasa ! ! ! ! No volverá

Family of four waited half an hour for food on a Sunday with two other tables in the restaurant. Waitress was friendly and very helpful however the food just let it down . Roast chicken over cooked came with chips instead of mash and the smallest amount of veg . The two stars are for the service alone .

First visit in about 10 years. It was all completely changed and a lovely surprise. Very nice interior and friendly helpful staff. Food was excellent and great value for money. Good traditional choices and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely return

First time in the Pheasant and wont be the last. we went initially to see a singer (Daniel Docherty) and decided to have some food so booked a table in advance, when we arrived we found out it was a valentines night dinner with entertainment, it turned out wonderful. Prosecco on arrival and a lovely menu to pick from, food was great and for that reason i will be going back to try again from there normal menu. Staff were very nice and efficient with a great atmosphere in the place. i wasn't in the bar but it looks very nice with a glass wall facing on to an outdoor seating area.

Went for the Tuesday buy one meal get one free, selected menu only but a good variety, all prices under £10, smaller portions but adequate size for money, tasty fresh meals. friendly staff and much better environment since the last owner a few years ago where I walked out. Big improvement so well done to the new owners, hope to see you soon.

This restaurant is 10 minutes by car from where we live and so I eat here at least twice a month. The staff have changed however they have always been very friendly and welcoming and pleasant to deal with.

We were visiting friends in the village and they called ahead to check about the time the restaurant would be serving food, they were hosting a function so confirmed that they would only be serving until 8pm. We arrived at 7.30pm. The menu was very varied and the welcome was very warm. The food was delicious and the service was great. This is a great pub and we would definitely recommend it. As we live in the south of England we won't be back soon but will definitely visit again when we do.

Decided to visit today for lunch. The waitress was very pleasant from greeting us up to when we left. We were very impressed with this. I had the scampi and the wife had the haddock. Both were excellent. We both did not finish the meal as the amount of fat chips we had made it impossible. You will not leave this establishment hungry. The cost of the meal and two soft drinks was very reasonable. We will definitely return.

Very disappointed and upset at the quality of food and service we received. Food was overcooked and tasteless with many items missing that were supposed to be on the plate. Won’t be returning.

This place looked good from the outside and the car park seemed fairly busy, so thought this would be a good choice for lunch. We were both very disappointed. Thought that the chickens outside would suggest fresh free range eggs and saw toys scattered at the bar meant child friendly, seating looked comfortable and décor pleasant, front of house staff very nice and service good. But the food; soup was broccoli, cauliflower and 3 cheese and was bitter and felt curdled. The haggis lasagne was not ready yet, maybe it would have been good, wine chosen was not available, the chicken and chorizo pie was swimming and sadly we were not impressed.

We visited for lunch on Tuesday and were pleased to seesome refurbishment being completed, which has brightened the premises up. The staff were pleasant and efficient, and the quality and choice of dishes on offer were varied and interesting, we can reccomend the steak pie and the herb crusted chicken, and the crannachan was delicious with just the right amount of whisky and honey contrasting with the raspberries cream and oaymeal!!

Tuvimos una cena domingo aquí para celebrar un cumpleaños familiar. El personal era amable y atento y con dos niños pequeños el ambiente relajado era ideal. Había una caja de juguetes para los niños que nos ayudó a mantener entretenidos y algunos pollos encantador exterior que puedes comprar una bolsa de alimentación. El lugar es cómodo en un estilo tradicional pub del campo.

Needing a dog friendly place to eat near my cousin's home in Stepps a google search came up with the Golden Pheasant only11 My cousin had his first pint here 50 years ago! Extremely friendly and very tasty food. Well recommended.

Tenía una fiesta familiar aquí 80 cumpleaños de mi padre julio. Desde el comienzo, nada era demasiado problema incluyendo una alteración menú y de último minuto pedido por un DJ. En la noche, la habitación era fantástica, el DJ nos hizo reír y bailar, la comida era deliciosa (mención especial para el pudin! ), el personal del bar era muy atento pero también alegre y divertido, la zona exterior se veía estupendo con flores y palmeras, y los más pequeños (y no tan jóvenes) Me encantó dar de comer a las gallinas. Esta fue una reserva de última hora y apreciar el equipo en el GP por hacerlo una noche que todos hablan de que por todas las razones a la derecha, hay un montón de grandes cumpleaños familiar el próximo año, sé donde me voy a reservar el partido ya! Visited here after a walk, feeling hungry. The sea bass from the specials menu was really excellent, served with potatoes and kale with a lemon butter sauce. Nice touch that the herbs are grown in the garden and the eggs come from their own chickens. And the desserts (sticky toffee pudding and cranachan) were just what we needed before the walk home. Good coffee too. Would definitely return.

The building itself has been brought up to a high standard and you can tell when you arrive that the owners care about local produce as they keep chickens in a little area of the gardens.

Decided to try The Golden Pheasant to celebrate my Dad’s birthday and fiancés birthday.

Went today for the first time and had one of the best pub lunches ever. Amazing prawn cocktail and didn't skimp on the prawns. The fish was lovely fluffy fresh fish with a crispy coating as it should be.£3.50 for a good glass of house wine was a pleasant surprise. Very good,efficient, pleasant service from start to finish. Even though they were busy, staff were always smiling. Have family around Bishopbriggs , Bearsden and Strathblane and will recommend that we make this our new meeting place.

Yo no he comido aquí por un año, pero no dejar tanto tiempo hasta que vuelva de nuevo. Amable, eficiente servicio de atención al cliente y fresca, deliciosa comida a un precio muy razonable. Fue claro el chef se enorgullece de lo que hace, y la presentación de la comida era estupenda. Nos encantó la casa helados hechos de menta! El menú tenía una buena variedad de platos, así que había mucha variedad. Menú infantil también era bueno. Mi hija de 6 años de edad, me encantó ir a alimentar a las gallinas y ella comentó sobre cómo su sabroso queso macaroni (estaba delicioso! ).

Always get a great meal here. The decor has improved which is a good thing, but somehow still lacks the relaxed, cosy atmosphere they could achieve.

Rate the food here very highly, had most things on the menu over the last year and yet to find something I’m not happy with!

Visited here several times in the past month or so with friends and it is always great. Tried the steak and onion baguette and the blt from the lunch menu and both were lovely. The sticky toffee pudding was nice, just slightly dry and could have done with a bit more sauce but that was the only minor issue. I even tried the haggis bon bons on one occasion and they were good too! Can also recommend the venoms, i'd never tried one before and they are fab!

Went back to watch the footie and this is still a good place. 3.20 a pint. 2 big screens. Simple pup food that is ok value but nothing special. Always a friendly place.

A lovely lunch of BLT sandwiches, which were toasted,and an individual pot of tea which gave 3.5 cups. 👍

Went here for lunch with my dog who was allowed in the bar with us for lunch. This is a huge benefit for us as we like to take him with us. Will go back. The food was really good and priced well.

He usado este lugar para eventos y han sido un gran éxito. El personal no podía hacer lo suficiente para nosotros, y nos fuimos de su manera de ayudar con todos los preparativos en la noche. Además, corría un café por la mañana y otra vez aquí el personal fue maravilloso con adultos jóvenes con necesidades adicionales de apoyo que estaban probando la experiencia de trabajo. El lugar estaba lleno, no un asiento a la izquierda con todo el mundo dando tanto positivas recomendaciones no puedo esperar para celebrar otra. También han sido en la noche, para cenar, comida y personal nuevo atento.

Excelente de principio a fin! ! ! ! . Donde un grupo de siete adultos y tres niños de la escuela, silla alta para bebé y espacio para recién nacido en cochecito. Dieron un grupo de vale, así que pensé que le daría una oportunidad. Excelente servicio y comida muy sabrosa. La carne estaba perfecta. Me encantó las gallinas en la parte trasera para entretener mientras terminamos nuestro vino en el sol.

Gran atmospphere, servicio cortés, recién preparado una comida deliciosa. Este restaurante está mejorando por el momento y ha establecido un jardín altas para ofrecer el cocina con ingredientes caseros. Incluso tienen gallinas tan ansiosos de tortillas deliciosas, crema brulée, etc.

Visited The Pheasant for th first time for lunch with a large groups of ladies. The food was good excellent, served by friendly staff and the service was very prompt. In fact I enjoyed my visit so much I have booked to go back two more times.

This restaurant was excellent in it's hayday. Could and should be again. Decor very poor more shabby than chiqu. On the plus side service was excellent. Food was very good, and value for money, sadly not supported by surroundings.

Lovely meal again. Haggis bonbons follows by a perfect steak. There was a very attentive,pleasant server. We are always given a warm welcome.

When I first moved into the area I had heated not so good things about the place so had never tried it before but when my in-laws came over from the states and had looked it up on trip adviser o was surprised at the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. It is a very typical British pub with very typical pub food. But the food tastes great and is reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere (although we were the only people in there) and very friendly staff. It may not be my favourite place to eat ever but I am sure one day I will be back here again.

1.30PM Sitting on Christmas Day and could nor fault it. Everything was perfect. Well Done to all. It was my sons 12th Birthday and everyone in the area sang happy birthday to him. A special thank you to Scott for his help. Highly recommended from a quality and service perspective and will stop by again the next time we are in the area.

Wasn't sure about going out for dinner on Christmas day as always stay home but really glad we did. Food was really good as was the service. First time eating here but was highly recomended by other family members. Excellent value. Will defo go back soon.

afternoon lunch on a week day , steak pie and veg was lovely but potatoes were awful , waiter was really very nice and helpful , would go back .

I came here for a baby shower, the function suite/lounge is a decent size, set over two levels, upper level is not suitable for wheel chairs, there are only two or three steps but you would be restricted to the bar area.The decor is old and tired, out of date. In real need of updating and refreshing.I thought the prices for alcohol were quite expensive given the location and general character of the pub. You can buy a bottle of wine from a Wetherspoons for almost half the price.It's out the way unless you live in the estate just across the main road or down the hill, there's not much to attract me back to be honest.The car park is a decent size although there is now a house developers 'office' taking up some of the car park.It does have outdoor seating but this is right at the front of the pub next to the busy main road so I don't imagine many people sit out there.The seating was poorly arranged for a baby shower and mostly people were sat with their backs to each other.There was a buffet which was lovely, but I don't know if this was done by the pub or brought in by the organisers.Minimal interaction with the staff but they seemed nice and helpful.

Had a lovely lunch here on Sunday. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. Steak pie was something I'll come back for.

Food always good when we go for lunch. Proper pub food like fish, macaroni, steak pie is fab. Their lunch menu is tasty and good value. Will def keep visiting here! And drinks not expensive. Staff service is great and

I hadn't visited the Golden Pheasant for almost 10 years and happened to be passing by so thought I'd give it a try for lunch for old times sake.The staff were very friendly and polite however there was a function on so food service was in the bar; maybe it was just an off day but the food was greasy and the chips under-cooked. It was also relatively expensive for what it was.The whole place is also showing its age with worn carpets and decor. Maybe with a refresh and better food it could be a good place to visit again but it definitely has some work to do.

We arrived, ordered drinks then food. Then we were told they had run out of mixed grills. Starters arrived and were ok. we then had a very long wait - from ordering we waited over 40 minutes for our main courses - two macaroni cheeses, one risotto and one burger. When it arrived the presentation of the food was uninspiring. Limp salad and "grey" skin on chips with the macaroni which did not look appetising. The pasta was tasty enough but average. The risotto was lacking in chicken and mushy. Not a good experience and we won't be back. No disabled parking bays in the car park.
