Had a lovely time at golden lion and experience the great Rack City Ribs. Food is 10/10 and with the service to match. Been twice now in a short period and can't wait to come back again.

Genuine London boozer of the old style. Decent beer and a good vibe. I didn't have food, but the menu looked interesting if you like grilled meats (there may be veggie alternatives but I didn't look too hard).

I’ve been here a few times now and I’m sad to say that what should be a positive review is not. After watching the person barbecuing the ribs outside the pub, I quickly realised that they’re only being reheated on the barbecue.-Which is unforgivable really. We came here on Saturday early evening and the full rack that my wife and I had Was very dry and is very ‘cleverly’ disguised with loads bought in bbq sauce. Shame really, I doubt we’ll be going back.

Great service, Kojo was amazing gave us a warm welcome and treated us like family. Food was delicious! Didnt disappointment!

Had to catch the waiter after 10 mins waiting for her attention at the table and waited 40 mins to be served! After long wait been told one of the items was run out and no apology or no replacement offered. Rib rack was served cold, cutlery wasn’t served before food and had to wait for it after food been served which made it even colder! Good news is waitress says she won’t be charging service charges because corn bread was run out! Waste of money and time.

I’ve been coming back and back again due to one person and one person ONLY!!! Ciara beautiful energetic enthusiastic and always happy to see customer that come back to this place. About 4 months ago I came in and ask for drink recommendations and Ciara was sure to put time and effort into making sure I got a drink that hit just the prefect spot, as a person that doesn’t live in Camden it’s always a treat to make a detour to this place!! May I add the food is exceptionally amazing my fave being SEVEN CHEESE MAC N CHEESE with brisket that beat anything served in Texas! Long story short make sure you pop in and ask for Ciara as I’m sure she’ll make your day better with her contagious smile that makes a rainy day feel like a holiday.

Lovely portion sizes and tastes delicious. The aroma of food hovers made you feel hungry and looking at when others where served made you excited to receive yours and when it arrives you’re not left disappointed.

Perhaps the best pork ribs I've ever had. The pork is super soft and tender that it just comes off the bone easily. The sauce tasted amazing and the fries goes so well with it that I don't even need ketchup nor mayo. You would need to wait for a small bit before the food it served but it is definitely worth it. The pint of coke served at the bar goes really well with the meal too. Really comfortable seating with the sun shining into the pub. Would definitely chill here for longer the next time i visit.

I went there yesterday for mother's day and I have to be honest, I was disappointed; once we got inside and waited minutes for our table, we asked for ribs and beef and we've been told that both had ran out. Imagine heading somewhere to eat and you've been told at the last minute that food you've asked for has run out? I instead had Mac and cheese with brisket and the brisket was dry, there was no taste, it tasted like it was slightly burnt, it wasn't meaty. Who comes into the restaurant and people leave with their doggy bags? It was a disappointment. Disgusting!

We went for Rack City, and it DID NOT disappoint! Best BBQ we've had in a long-time. Still thinking about that mac n cheese, best we've ever had. Serving sizes were decent and, good value for money. Staff were super friendly and accommodating.

Rack City Ribs is 10/10. Would recommend booking a table.

What a find! Yesterday (16 Nov) my brother and I were walking from Hampstead to Blackfriars and felt hungry. On entering the Golden Lion we were greeted with such friendly and helpful people especially Holly. The food was outstanding in terms of portion size and quality and excellent value for money. Thank you all at the Golden Lion.

Awesome food with very decent prices in Camden! Beef ribs are great for meat lovers, very juicy, tender and easily falling off the bone. Brisket loaded potatoes are really good, so as the sticky smokey wings. Great value for money in this place. Def coming back with friends to order the big platter! We paid £47 between 2 people + drinks from the bar.

I had the pleasure of trying the roast meal at the Golden Lion Pub, which featured a delicious spread of Jamaican cuisine, and I was beyond impressed. The roast oxtail was perfectly cooked—tender and packed with rich, deep flavors. The seasoning was spot on, making each bite of the oxtail absolutely mouthwatering. Paired with well-prepared rice, creamy coleslaw, and indulgent mac and cheese, the meal was a satisfying mix of textures and flavors. The wings were also a standout, seasoned to perfection with just the right amount of spice and juiciness. I couldn’t finish them all, so I took some home, and they tasted just as amazing the next day. All in all, the meal was fantastic, from the expertly cooked oxtail to the vibrant, well-balanced sides. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic, well-seasoned Jamaican food!

Friendly staff, as of now really good barbecue food. Edit: Sadly I'm not sure how dog friendly they are. Previously it's been really good, but last visit a customer passive-aggressively asked if I was going to "park my dog outside" (despite being several metres away from him), and the waitress' response was to move us to a tiny table in the back corner rather than engage or explain that it's a dog friendly pub. Maybe he was some kind of special customer, but he was a rude dickhead and it felt very strange to be shunted off into the corner in a pub like this.

🚇Camden Town 🍺 £6.30 Kirin Lager The Golden Lion is located in the backstreets of Camden Town, away from the hustle and bustle of the High Street. The nearest Tube is Camden Town, Camden Road overground is also close by. This architecturally stunning pub was built in the 1890’s and is on Camra's heritage pubs list. In 2013 the pub faced closure and conversion into flats. Thankfully it was saved by the local community, the tenacious sitting tenants at the time and Camden Council. This is a bright and airy one bar pub that has a contemporary feel. At the far end of the bar is a marble fireplace with a large screen with some oldschool mirrors advertising Campari and Martini. To the right are a collection of superb black and white photos of old Camden Town. The furniture is a mix of traditional tables and modern chairs, the ceiling is high with sparkling chandeliers. The star of the show is the beautiful servery and original Charrington’s back bar. This is one of the finest back bars I’ve come across on my travels which looks as good as new. The beer selection was excellent and included a choice of mainstream, premium, craft and cask options. I decided on a pint of Kirin Lager, a rare find around London’s taps. My pint was great, price point a tad above average. The food offering is barbecue slow cooked smoked meats by @rackcityribs . The smell coming from the kitchen was absolutely amazing, the mmm’s from the tables confirmed haw good the food was. We arrived around 2pm for a Sunday lunchtime pint on St Patrick’s Day. The atmosphere was convivial and welcoming with a mixture of locals and visitors exploring Camden. The team here are really friendly, the barman who served us was chatty and personable. This once oldschool Irish pub may no longer have a pool table, dartboard, fruities and a jukebox, but thankfully this landmark Camden pub endures. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to @golden_lion_camden , the architecture, beautiful back bar, great beer and food, amiable hospitality will hopefully see a new golden era for this must visit London pub. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 17.03.24

Was attending a gig nearby and arrived early so I popped in here for a drink, it's an interesting pub. The service was good. I didn't eat.

Best pork rib I ate in London. It's very worth it. The side dishes are also delicious and the service is quick and friendly. I will definitely come back!

We did not expect such great hospitality and food: Despite not having pre-booked and being advised that all tables were booked, super helpful staff asked us to wait and advised that there was a table that was currently free but would need to be vacated promptly when the pre-booked guests arrived. The staff were really nice about it. We decided to risk it and so glad we did: Awesome ribs, really tasty corn bread and macaroni cheese. The food was full of flavour, Carribean spice and American (?) influence. We had a fabulous meal. Thank you for a great meal!

Lovely hidden gem in Camden serving great food by Rack City Ribs (check them out on Instagram). As a BBQ fanatic I have to say the beef short rib was up there with some of the best I've had and the wings have a great light batter. Looking forward to trying the 7 Mac and cheese next.

I went here for the first time today after seeing rack city ribs were running the kitchen…. Holy cow wow….. wow is the only word you use for a place like this, this is a real secret gem of a place. Selfishly I don’t want this place to get too popular so that all the tourists from out of London start coming here, but that’s me being selfish. Service 50/10 they couldn’t not have been nicer…… good 1 million out of ten…..location easy peasy just a genuine nice spot run by decent people excellent food!

This bar and the service for the bar is great! However the rack city ribs service was horrible — we waited half an hour to be seated, another hour to get the food and another 30 min to get the bill. The waitress seems to really not know what she was doing and super distracted. And we were given half an hour portion of food without knowing the fact it was half until the bill came

We came here after work as saw that rack city ribs have a spot here now. The food was sensational, we got the platter and it was so much food, everything was perfection but would recommend the beef ribs which fell off the bone. Some of the best food I’ve had in a while and will be back! Prices were great and the pub prices were very good for London £3.99 for cider/ale before 6pm. Service was great and chef came up to check how are food was.

When the guy behind the bar asks "how can I get you drunk?", you know you're in the perfect place. Cracking corner pub off the beaten track which is well worth hunting down. Feels like it's had a refit but plenty of original Carringtons panelling and what not. Decent choice of beers with Brooklyn Defender on at £6.50 which is great value in today's age. Please go if in the area. Well worth it

Nice pub where we had our traditional Sunday roast! The place is super clean, richly decorated and bright. The roasts (we took the chicken one) were really delicious (the potatoes crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the carrots, green and red cabbage very well cooked, with its gravy sauce to accompany everything). Small decisive detail: the toilets are super clean and accessible (ramp available if necessary). Warm and welcoming service. THANKS

The place was also empty which made me feel slightly apprehensive. So we sat down and ordered our dinner. It took around 20 minute's, which I don't mind if the food is cooked properly. Out came our Sunday roast and wow, it was fantastic. I genuinely can't explain how good the food was. So if you're in this area then head in here, you won't be disappointed. And to top off our visit the place had a really good British pub feel about it. Superb.

I love that the Golden Lion survived whatever awful things wrecked the buildings around it, WWII? Developers? That it's still standing is a very good thing. Space is good, beer is fine. Staff are always friendly. There's nothing wrong with the place but there's nothing special either. Lacks character somehow.

Food was amazing, we had roast dinner, th beef melted in your mouth. Service was good with friendly staff. Atmosphere was that of a traditional pub, relaxed & friendly.

Great real ale pub in the backwaters of Camden Town, very close to Camden Road Overground Station. Old School, honest decent boozer. Occasional beer festivals with keen prices.

Community pub. Stair lift now installed. Reasonable pool table - has since been removed. No lunch advertised but small plate options are tasty.

It was cosy, revives notions of the glorious olde pub days, very grassrooty. Very welcoming bar staff. We attended a pub quiz (where we failed brilliantly) and enjoyed it. They had an enticing roast with red cabbage, but was out when we came.
