Really greasy, chicken overcooked badly, very very salty. You’ll drink the Thames after eating here It’s massively further but the one in Marley park in Witney is fantastic

I visited my Mum who lives nearby and we tried the Golden Kitchen for the first time. Normally we go to Peachcroft but we were in the area at the hospital. Whilst waiting I had a lovely chat with the woman behind the counter and said to her that I’d do a review and that my aim was to help small businesses, so if the food is good, maybe a good review will help. She was pleasant to talk to. I got the impression that she had being doing this a long time and that whilst she was frontline customer service, it wasn’t her first thought. Reluctantly, I cannot give a great review, even though I do really want to. The hot and sour was neither hot, nor sour. An ok soup, just an average, at best, hot and sour soup. The roasted duck in black bean sauce had lots of duck - just tasted boiled and not roasted. The mushroom rice either had no flavour or an odd flavour. Seems to be inconsistent but neither were neither were great. Checking the hygiene score it is 5 and was last inspected in October 2022. So, no issues there. Listening to a few phone calls being taken, the attitude felt like ‘taking customers for granted’. There was no customer service in the receiving voice and it was very, very functional. At least a thank you for your order would be a welcome touch. The foods needs upgrading for this take-away to survive and the approach to customers on the phone needs a rethink. I wanted it to be great. Sorry, it is not.

Food is excellent and the service is very quick

Have been using Golden Kitchen for the last 18 months since moving from a previous Chinese in the area. Have always found the food to be flavourful and reasonably priced, happy to recommend and will often suggest when having friends round.

I have used here for many many years love it ! But changed chips few years back not great new chips were ok but changed ahain so it seems and werent great !!

New Beijing is temporarily closed so we tried golden kitchen after a friends recommendation. It was the worst Chinese food ever ever had. The chow mein was oily, full of onions and no meat, the crispy beefy chewy, the roast pork tough, the chips were a mix of hard or soggy. And the lady ok the phone was really abrupt and didn’t tell us the cost, how long until collection and sounded irritated to be asked.

Friendly lady at the counter. Good selection of dishes. Very quick service that was very enjoyable.

Ordered crispy chilli beef chicken chow mein and chips was aweful the chilli beef was hard and very oily the chow mein was inedible as the chicken and the noodle were greasy and slimey the chips were hard and extremely oily won’t be returning

One of the best takeaways in the area, food is always top notch, service is normally fast, even on a busy Friday, value for money is great!

The dishes were so salty that it was impossible to taste anything else. Compared to other Chinese takeaways their prices are very expensive. We ordered a small portion of fried rice and the size of the container was laughable. Not enough to feed a child never mind an adult. The beef was tough and also some of the vegetables. Will not be returning.

Had a chicken curry last night and it was amazing so much chicken packed into this dish and rice was also really well cooked

Best Chinese takeaway in town. Fact!

Very popular Chinese takeaway in Abingdon. Doesn't do delivery but it's easy to walk to from most of south Abingdon. Service is quick and prices are about average. Food is generally good although last time the crispy chilli beef was far too crispy, probably over fried. Otherwise their food is tasty. Shop itself is very basic and they only take care above £15.

Best chinese in abingdon, would defo recommend but for those complaining, it's chinese not all food will be to your liking, literally get over it

The restaurant serves unauthentic Chinese cuisine and in simple words, it is a scam. What I ordered from the menu is completely different from what received. When I called to ask for a explanation I was met with an episode of shouting and rudeness. PLEASE AVOID!

Always so friendly when I go in, also the food is incredible! Recommend the salt and pepper chicken as well as the deep fried chicken in thai sauce.

Decent quality food, very speedy when ordering in for a collection.

The meals we tried were tasty and warm but the female at the counter is a bit rude and loud when communicating. We were insulted and accused of making the wrong order then complain. It seems like the restaurant's menu board does not correspond with her list which is no fault of ours. We've always been polite and respectful on all occasions and to be spoken to in that manner was distasteful. We would no longer be patronizing. Also, check your orders before leaving, they tend to make alot of mistakes.

First time here, excellent food, good portions, highly recommended, best Chinese had for a long time. Really need someone taking orders by phone and someone taking orders face to face

Always an enjoyable meal, usually buying for 6 people on a Friday night, tasty food.

Me and my family have been ordering takeaway food from here since it opened. It’s always been our favourite in Abingdon. We have noticed a huge hike in prices in here at a much higher rate than other takeaways, we obviously know that currently things cost a little more. The food was good and hot as always. I think this luxury will be the first to go off of our list

By far the best Chinese around. It’s very rare you have a variety of food that is so consistent. I can’t doubt it in any way. Highly recommended

Stale chicken balls. Stale tasting duck. Paid £40 for all our food and all of it ended up in the bin due to poor quality. Was extremely disappointed in this as was recommended to be the best around. I would recommend China Court or Lucky chopsticks Kennington if you want authentic fresh food and produce

Pop in here a few days ago wow amazing food always loved the golden kitchen. The sweet and sour chicken perfect.the special fired rice excellent.the chips have never changed still excellent indeed.love the spring rolls they are a meal just by them self's. East to order,excellent turnaround.

Ordered the takeaway over the phone, repeated the correct order back to confirm. Upon collection 1 x meal missing and food was just about warm let alone hot!! Granted they said 10min wait I was there in 5MINUTES. Won’t be going back & would NOT recommend.

What went wrong !!! Absolutely awful cost £22.00 and most went in the food waste. Meal was barely warm and not actually fit for human consumption. Had a couple of bad takeaways in the past so stopped using it. Went back awhile ago and to be honest the food had been ok. Wont be going back again thats for sure 💯 🤮🤮

Typical Chinese. If you fancy a takeaway ! All Chinese shops cook there food slightly different, maybe this one will suit you ?!

Avoid if you can, it's been a long time since I been unable to eat the food that I paid 25.00 for. The food is inedible and looks gross. The egg fried rice was brown and black and soaked in so much soy sauce and is the size of a small cup. The ribs were burnt so badly and must have been cooking for hours. Caked in gelatinous sauce which was congealed. And so too was the chicken chow mein all with peas in it. Yuk avoid avoid avoid you will spend alot of money when you can go to the hungry horse up the road and get a much better dinner for much much less. Plus I feel like the meat isn't cooked. Be careful

Ordered food from here for the first time and was very disappointed. The egg fried rice was dark brown, the beef dish was bland and the spare ribs had a weird, soggy, floury coating. To cap it off the spring roll had lost it's spring and was very much on the soggy side. Won't be returning.

They do the best chips ever if you like chunky chips which i do & normally have sweet & sour chicken balls to go with them, or chicken curry. Worth a visit.

Good Food, Average Prices, But Cash Only!

This is our go-to for a Chinese takeaway. Food is always hot, fresh and is so tasty. Other places we have tried tend to bulk their dishes out with onion,but here they have a lovely balance of everything. Would definitely recommend!

This Chinese takeaway has gone down hill. My order came out in 5 minutes, the crispy beef was awful, the vegetable stir fry was disgusting. After nearly 15 years I will not order again.

Decided to try this place on a visit to Abingdon as good reviews on Trip Adviser and Google. Comprehensive menu available to view online. Saturday evening and the place was packed - the phone never stopped ringing and constant stream of customers ordering or collecting food. Very quick service though. Food was hot and portions large. 1/4 crispy duck came with 12 pancakes and enough duck to easily fill these. Duck chow mien also good as was special house curry. Have a few more weekends when Abingdon will be home so will definitely return.

Without a doubt one of the best Chinese takeaway in Abingdon there crispy chips are amazing. My personal favourite is roast duck chow main succulent slices of duck breast in an onion pea Liqueur with lots of noodles I also like there capital, curry, sweet & sour, BBQ sauces.

This used to be such a lovely Chinese. The food was always fresh and tasty. It's now horrendous the food always seems reheated and the chips are nothing but grease. It's such a shame I used to love this Chinese.

This was my first visit to this Chinese, the food looked like it had been reheat, the special fried rice was hunting the meat they would have been more meat in egg fried rice. The rice was black were to much soya sauce had been used.I do hate writing this but with so many Chinese takeaways in Abingdon, you thought the standards would be higher so that it would attach more people and offer good value for money.

Never will i visit you again cold chips cold chicken ball sweet n sour sauce was congelled it had been there that long i rang 5 mins b4 i wanted it n they said it will be 10 mins so i was nice n early n it was waiting for me ......great i thought then i tucked into it n was MASSIVELY disappointed and as for my gf spring roll it was soggy and 2 of the smallest bits of meat imaginable ......never review anywhere b4 but sorry this was rank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ordered from Golden Kitchen yesterday and my food looked and tasted like it had been reheated. The chicken was so dry and tough. Not impressed.

I have never had takeaway, had an item missing and been shouted at for being incorrect. Missing chips and curry sauce and apparently we didn't order it. Awful customer service. Luckily the food was good.
